Hey builder guy... (yeah I spotted the black thumb).., while I was living in Lake Toba Sumatra I learned it was necessary to soak bamboo for up to three months in water to kill these microorganisms that will eat the wood if you don't. Nice build and shape!
Fantastic job, congratulations!! Could I make you a query? How much does a m3 of cut and polished dry bamboo weigh? And another, the skeleton is also bamboo? Thank you friends and good waves.
Hi Gabriel, No I just took a dry bamboo directly on the forest and check it during the build but I’ve had some surprise sometimes haha. I had to do a repair once but nothing mean. See you!
Nice board!! Trying to building one myself. Could you share what is the thickness and width of the bamboo strips you used for the board surface? What build method did you use for the rails? And how did you treat the bamboo prior to use? Thanks :)
Ok thank you, between a surfboard make of wood and fiber glass which is better? Do you have plans to do this surfboard to see if I can make it with fiber glass, although I think it will be heavy if use only fiber glass for all of it. This is my email in case you want to share the plans to make this surf board, mario.herdez@gmail.com thank you very much,
Ok, had to stop the vid, and comment... A jigsaw..?? Really?? on bamboo..... Almost had to change the channel.... I'm going to go back and take another peek.... but really it's bamboo guys, a little respect...
Trop beau!

This is just too awesome! Curious to know how much it weighs? Thanks.
beautiful build.

Beautiful board Romain! Did you have to treat the bamboo beforehand?

One of the pretties I have seen.
Amazing work
Romain, great Job! ¿the internal structure is the same bamboo? Thanks
Made from plywood :)
What species of bamboo is this?
No idea sorry!?
beautiful!
would you mind sharing what kind of software you used to shape the board??
the name of the software is Akushaper! see u
what is the weight of that board?
That was my first thought.
I suppose it is more on the heavy side...
Nice video:)
Very nice. I'dlike to have drawings to do it my self.
rapid! could you make a long board with this techniquic?
Brian Holdren sweet
you can do a lot of things with the bamboo but make a longboard with the same technical is for me very very more harder!
What is the plastic layer that you put on top of the wood? and then resin? Thank you for sharing this video Romain ;)
fibreglass

you put fibreglass over foam, or over wood.
Coolest thing I've ever seen
thank you ;-)
way heavy....you had a go though!
Did you use templates printed from AKUshaper? Or did you just use hand drawn templates for the ribs?
Excellent work
How was the weight factor compared to a foam board?
I don't know but the board is very heavy...
What is the music really nice
you can see the music at the end of this video...
Beautiful
That's awesome, !
It's better to use bambu betung (Gigantochloa sp)
Could you please explain why?
Nice.
Or you could just run a foam blank through a CNC machine…
No es tan fácil como creí shet
Ok, had to stop the vid, and comment... A jigsaw..?? Really?? on bamboo..... Almost had to change the channel.... I'm going to go back and take another peek.... but really it's bamboo guys, a little respect...
hi Robert, yes I cut the bamboo with a jigsaw, and after that I used a hand planer. It's very hard... i confirm you it's really bamboo ;-)
whats wrong with using a jigsaw
There are special bamboo splitters that can divide it into 4 6 or 8 segments.
yellow bambusa vulgaris is not as good as guadua or phylostachis
