James May is one of my favourite humans.
PJ i agree, you just said that tho like an alien
James is the best!
@@sambennett996 what if he is
oh cock
Gay
Even in zero gravity he's a bit slow.
But still a captain
@@TheAmbientUniverse CLARCKSOOON
to be fair the monkey was straped to a chair so he wasnt going anywhere floating away.. zero G feels like perpetually falling so it must been pretty terrifying
Legend says, it's still 1883 in May's timezone
oh cock
"Pardon, sorry, excuse me, pardon, sorry...." I love the British!
im american with a British sounding voice so if i watch too much bbc and i start mixing things up people freak out out and go where the hell did all that come from
Manors don't cost a thing ✌
Manors are quite costly, actually.
Nicholas Hall manners not manors
Nick Garwood I'm sorry 😶
He so polite as everyone is just uncontrollably bumping off of one another. I love him
James may is the reason I subscribed to this channel
SaltyFries same
SaltyFries I didn't know he was associated with it until now. But I think subconsciously I might have connected the dots because of Man Lab. I'm American by the way. Love James and his programs. He helped me realize how much of a nerd I am.
+SaltyFries same
yup
Yup.
Captain slow does very cool things.
Chris Juarez that's probably trademarked by the BBC like on that bomb shell
I love how at 1:46 some guy just completely pile drove himself
gravity kicked in at that moment
Lmfaooo
1:46 tries to do a flip but fails
gravity kicked in at that moment
LMFAO
He's a pretty intelligent guy. I enjoy watching his documentaries. He also works very well with the other 2.
"What if he doesn't throw up during the flight?"
"Well that won't be very interesting to the audience. Better give him a child's toy that shocks him if he gets the sequence wrong."
"Excellent idea! Phew, I was afraid we'd have to make an actual documentary!"
No joke. This documentary is one of the most moving, beautiful documentaries i have ever seen. It relives childhood fantasies of going to space. Thinking anything is possible. We have grown cynical and pessimistic. This reminded me that I was once a wide-eyed child with dreams of going to space.
i thought he was wearing a duel disk at first..
He looked like some villain who stole captains America shield.
A what what?
im sorry i only watched 10 episodes of YuGiOh
Sending people to the shadow realm in 0 G sounds like a good idea to be fair.
@@Nafon You know that could of made for a good episode/story arc.
i love how every adult becomes a kid again in the "vomit comet"
man i would give ANYTHING for a free ride on this thing, it looks like the most fun thing ever
more James may!!
I read it as "James may ride the vomit comet". Turns out he did. yey
"a gentle shock, if he FORGETS!"
oh look a flying spaniel
Space Conquistadors!
1:52 *The point was ....OH GOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!*
How much is a ticket for that damn plane!?!?!?
$4,950 + tax
Formulka Awesome! A few more months and I won't be able to afford 2 of'em! ;-)
What a rip.
For that price I rather wait 30 years and buy a space car.
cause that will be affordable in 30 years.. mhm.
1:45 "that wasnt really the point. the point was -::SMACK::"
_"Oof" - James May_
Did you see the guy behind him literally jump on to the top of his head
1:46 the most graceful summersault i've ever seen
Typical Brit, "Sorry, ...sorry, ....sorry." lol
Isn't Canadians eh? :'D
Because the British are mostly polite and have manners and courtesy.
And they are just lovely.
Visit britain if you think that. Your view might be a little outdated.
"Because the British are mostly polite and have manners and courtesy."
Love the sarcasm :)
And yeah, the "sorry" thing is typical Canadian, not Brit :P
3:36
I started dying when he tried moving his feet trying to get on something solid
Great to see Richard Hammond doing so well in the light test
been years since I've seen may on here
YEah. Head Squeeze! The reason I guess most of us subscribed to this. I guess this is an old recording posted just for some commercial purposes.
His laugh in the end is GOLD😂😂
Actually, I'm not sure James could have done well on the Simon game under *normal* gravity.
I don't think he can do it in any form of gravity.
With all those people bumping into him and all the screaming, I doubt it's a "zero G" problem.
It'd be interesting to see someone play that game in a crowd, say in a nightclub or a bar...
Still better than UA-cam Rewind 2018.
Love the killers track playing in the backround lmao
The best thing was how chill he was lol
I love James' voice so much...
Like Douglas Adams said:
its easy to fly. You just have to learn fall but MISS the ground.
Clarkson, Hammond and May. 3 British icons, who sum us up so beautifully when they're combined lol
Well that’s been added to my bucket list...😂
Lovely bit of Elbow, lovely bit of captain slow.
This was first aired on "BBC Four" on June 21st, 2009, as part of commemorations of the 40th anniversary of the first Apollo moon landing.
"The point was..." faceplant into the floor.
"Pardon, sorry, excuse me, pardon, sorry...." I love the British!
Nice I didn't realize the vomet comet was a 727.
there are several.. they used to be mostly 707/C-135s.. also there was DC-9s, russian IL-76s an A300 and now an A310 from ESA. You can even do your own vomit comet in a Cessna (for much shorter time of course)
@@sparrowlt
_Yeees,_ a _much_ shorter time. As in the ceiling of a Cessna is nowhere near what it takes to produce a parabolic course to produce anything similar to low gravity. Also, a Cessna can't fly that fast even going straight down, so it would be more like the sensation of a kiddie roller coaster than anything close to actual zero-G. And finally, if you _were_ going _that_ fast (which is impossible with straight-edge wings to begin with, which they discovered back in, oh, World War II), when you tried to pull up, the Cessna would literally tear itself to pieces because it's not designed to handle those kinds of aerodynamic stresses.
I absolutely agree: it would indeed be a _very short_ time if you tried to do anything like this. It would also be the _only_ time you got to do this. _(slow clap)_
@@EVAUnit4A well there are funny videos arround of people doing zero-G in cessnas for a couple seconds
The song was Mirrorball by Elbow if anybody wondered.
and loneliness of a tower crane driver at the end
That “sorry” is so British and casual
Holy shit, whoever decided to use the song Sam's Town over the first
James may is so English he keeps saying sorry any time he makes contact with anybody some reason I find it hilarious😂
I came to this video expecting zero G
I was not expecting to hear my favourite band play one of my favourite songs! Good choice of soundtrack there BBC!
Which one?
I am not a betting man, but I might wager that James may would consider "On the Edge of Space" and "On the Moon" to be the greatest experiences of his career
Everybody sing!
"You're now in orbit weightless and your stomach is in doubt.
When there's no down you can't throw up, in space you just throw out...."
That looks like an absolute blast!
James May is my spirit animal
Only chance you might see James May laughed like a child :D
I did something similar in a wind tunnel, where I was able to fly for a couple minutes. Best experience of my life :D
This is completely different, you're talking about sky diving. This is weightlessness.
Just FYI, the first song is the intro from a song called “mirrorball” by a band called “elbow”. (My favourite band, and it’s an amazing song)
EDIT:The song at 3:20 is called “loneliness of a tower crane driver”, which is also by elbow!
thank you, you are an absolute legend!
0:43 Cue Jeremy/ Hammond "Yeah, that's cause you never go on the ones that go above 30!"
When guy tries to flip the gravity comes back and he landed on his head XD
Would be super awesome to try once :D
coolest job ever being a member of top gear got to travel the world, driving cars with your bestfriends, doing long road trips, being able to do this i mean what else do you want?
For those interested, the music is by Elbow
Sorry, Sorry, Sorry. Proper gentlemen he is.
"Gentle shock"
That's a lovely make for a rollercoaster.
I'm pretty sure we're all here because JM is finally back haha
James May is my spirit guide.
He's so cute :D
Bucket list, someone take me on this!!!
Mad respect for OK Go!!!
This was: *wholesome*
Just so awesome, remember first time - the green grass is um the blue s..........
Best man in life is james may
We even say we're sorry when we bump into people when we literally have no control of ourselves.
The bloody camera man must have been having a amazing time
haha even watching it was so fun :)
more james please!
That looks like a load of fun.
That camera man is a legend
This must be a really cool experience.
The first song is ‘sams town’ by the killers
Now listen up! Your about to go on the Vomit Comet, when you go zero g, it's very important that you SCREAM!
songs are "mirrorball" and "loneliness of a tower crane driver" by elbow if anyone is interested
did you know
james=my middle name
may=the month of my birthday
BRING BACK HEAD SQUEEZE!!!! NOW!!!!! DO IT!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????
It hurts me to see what aging has done to this amazing man
The vomit comet is basically a flouting bouncing castle.
I all of the Varity Airplanes and all of the Airplanes in the World. I also love the Zero-G's Airplanes. 😊😊😊
the musics are so dope with the video.
So British “sorry, sorry” 😂
this clip is like 4 years old. wheres the new james may videos at??
In my recommended now but will be in 7 years time
Hammond has done it this as well in his series "Building a Planet". So that just leaves Clarkson who's never experienced Zero-G.
Don't give the ghost up just clench your fist,
You should have known by now,
You were on my list...
Nobody ever pulls the strings 'round here but
I don't really mind that it's starting to get to me...
Those lyrics came up immediately when the songs started playing in the background
That looks like so much fun.
Love the use of Sam's Town by The Killers
Wow! Karl Pilkington described the chimp story on Monkey News, and I thought he was making most of it up. Hahahahah
That looks like fun!
I can remember him throwing up while on a sailboat near the coast of New Zealand
I love how the plane is a 727.
Pretty sure they never electrocuted the Chimp but James did a pretty good job narrating the video in constantly changing gravity so I will forgive the small error.
happy may makes me happy lol
1:46 that guy played off headbutting the ground😂
WOW! that looks like incredible fun! LOL
Who loves Captain slow ?
you can do the same maneuvers as the vomit comet in a normal aircraft. just make sure everything is tied down and that the only things that float around are you and any willing participants
