Awesome video! Imagine 100 or 200yrs into the future when space flight will be common and kids will watch such videos and be like... "pffft.. pathetic"
Asef Jamil Ajwad but why would they think we’re pathetic? We don’t look back at the times where tv or cars didn’t exist and think, “pfffft... pathetic” we’ll be “the past” or “the olden days” to them, doesn’t mean we’re pathetic🤷🏻♀️😂
Dramamine. The go-to motion sickness drug. Good chance it was the "downer" she was talking about, but it's not enough of a downer to make you fall asleep that easily, so it'd be enough by itself. Granted, I've never used it in zero G, but it's a godsend in cars & on boats.
Omggg I just got an idea! This would be perfect for a mermaid movie, I mean then the mermaid actors could talk ”under water” and the backround could only be edited to look like the sea!
in other word, it is called airtime. As a kid we use to go on the swing and jump off while the swing is going forward at mid height. You can jump off higher, but you risk injuries.
That looks really fun. I love swimming but this is far more fascinating. I’d definitely take the medication that’s suggested even though I’m not normally one to get airsick because I’ve been on planes a lot of times and it doesn’t bother me. I sense this may be far more different than an average plane ride.
My dad was and still is the first officer of that plane. (first officer is basically co pilot) This plane is a Boeing 727 and according to my dad the last passenger version left in operation. Besides Zero G and some V.I.P transports all the commercial airlines retired them already.
"Free fall" or zero gravity actually happens way before reaching the peak, as already during the climb, once the flight controls are pushed downwards, there is an acceleration downwards. Veritasium made a good video on this. It is like throwing a bottle filled with content upwards. Once it leaves your hand, even though the bottle is still moving upwards, inside the bottle the contents are weightless.
They almost got the parabolas right. Weightlessness actually starts prior to the peak of the parabola, this way they are able to have longer periods of zero G and still be safe. Its like throwing a ball up in the air, the ball experiences zero G as soon as you let go of it and that's very similar to what's happening on the plane.
I'd like to do mainly martian or lunar gravity on that plane, with a couple arcs of weightlessness. Seems like it would be more fun to be able to jump really far in the lunar gravity. Or even go 1/10 gravity so you can pull some sweet spins while jumping really far...
The pure joy she was feeling and showing during the free-floating… That’s only a partial glimpse of what people experience when under the influence of certain drugs. Maybe that can help folks understand why people become addicted and their minds chase that feeling forever.
you mentioned preparation for avoiding getting sick. Might I ask, what methods of preparation did you do? For those of us who wish to enjoy one of these flights and know what is the best way to prepare for it
From what I heard, people just get motion sick, because their brain is still trying to figure where is "up" and "down", because it's used to "down" where the gravity is. In Zero-G, all of that mismatches. You can use your feet as a pseudo-"down", if you focus. Also maybe don't eat or drink right before. An empty stomach can't puke. if you are unsure, ask for medicine.
@@Sypaka establishing a specific orientation actually does help. Its why no one got sick on the Mercury or Gemini flights, because the astronauts were firmly strapped into a single position, and always maintained that orientation. With Apollo, however, not only were there multiple "up" positions in the Command Module, but when you go "down" into the Lunar Module, you are not only upside down, but its connected at a weird turn angle, further throwing things off. Not surprising that one out of every three Apollo astronauts got space sick in the early days
@@k1productions87 Being strapped may be for safety as well. As as they established a fixed point in Zero-G to be DOWN, well it works. With out any fixpoint, you have to make your own and stop thinking in 2D directions. "Down" should be where your body+legs point. not the "Down" of the surroundings.
@@Sypaka That is why the statistics in Zero G airplanes is considerably more favorable. Some people still get sick, but not nearly the same degree. Most of us recognize what the floor and ceiling of an airplane are, so they remain somewhat constant
Me at the start of the episode, this looks cool, if a bit familiar. When Loren's mom is on the phone: ohh I've definitely seen this. Maybe let's watch a bit more. At the end: Ohh it's done already?... That was fun. Also, I ove my family, but it'd be cool to have aerospace-working relatives.
The explaination was kind of misleading. You are in zero G the moment after the turn is made to go up, all the way until the turn is made to level out after going back down. The feeling of zero G is because the entire time the earth is accelerating your body at just the right rate to feel weightless, and that acceleration matches the trajectory of the flight right after the change in attitude that points the plane up, all the way until it begins to level out after the descent.
As a kid I rode the Gravitron (forces as much a 3G) about 8 times in a row with no waiting in line before my stomach started to get pretty upset. I'm ready for space flight! :P
I feel terrified and excited at the same time at what it must feel to be in Zero G. Even in slides it's hardly Zero G so it's hard to even tell the difference but in this flight the experience must be uncomparable. Those who get to experience Zero G are truly the fortunate ones and the luckiest.
