Dewalt DW745 out feed and side extension table on a budget.

- COST OF THE WHOLE PROJECT £70
I'm currently building my workshop interior and decided that I should build myself an out feed table/assembly/side extension/workbench to incorporate my Dewalt DW745 jibsite saw. I built this using 12 2.4m 3x2 framing timber, 1.5 sheets of 15mm construction grade plywood and I also utilised my current saw cart in the build to save waste and money.
The cost was £30 for the 3x2 and £40 for the two sheets of plywood. I already had the screws and glue.
Dewalt job site saw with out feed and side extension table.

Great and timely video for me. I picked up an old contractor's saw that I refinished and am planning on building a new outfeed table for my sawstop with the new (old) saw mounted in the back like you've got here. I'm going to use the old saw as a dedicated dado stack saw as switching out the brake and the blade every time on the sawstop is a real pain. Will definitely watch this again before I get started.
Cheers Stan it's very simple but sturdy construction and can be made in a day, very cheap as well only £70. I would love to have the use of a dado stack but in the UK and Europe they are band 😭
Nicely done! Great result on a budget and will be a nice addition to the saw and shop. 👍🏻
Thanks Kirstie 🙂
Been putting this off, Have been using a choice piece of 3/4 ply for the table top, and saw horses. You've inspired me to get it done. My shop is the same size as yours. it's tight. That's why this is such a good idea. Thanks
Cheers mate, ye it's a big bench but utilises the space well, giving you lots of work space and storage. You'll love it when you've completed it as it's a blessing.
Hi Karl
I do my woodwork (mainly making lots of sawdust) in a 16ft x 8ft garage, your out feed/side extension table is exactly what I need , same size and everything, so I’m having one!! Thanks for being so open and honest about cost and everything. Fabulous website, look forward to it every week, keep up the good work!! 👍
Thanks mate, I really glad you found this useful 😊
Hello Karl, I had been looking as you did at all the build videos on a project like this and came to the same conclusion that I didn't have a fortune to spend and I want to keep it simple to build. This is exactly what I'm going to construct right after I finish my miter saw station which was also built similar using 2x4 stud lumber. I emailed your video to myself as this one is perfect for me, but a bit shorter at 5 feet long. Thanks for posting your video, it will really help as I follow along, well done. Cheers from Utah ! (two thumbs up !
Thanks mate, glad the video was helpful. I'm still using a bench made the same way in my new workshop. Best of luck with your project 👍
Now that is a very solid workbench. Looks great too! Very nicely done.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Poor Man 😊
What a real awesome job
Thank you John. 😊
Mate I see some awesome builds as you’ve done & if I was starting out again I’d do so many things differently knowing what I know now because this set up your making is really ingenuity at its best 👍👍👍
Cheers Sumo ye we live and learn, this is why I love UA-cam we learn so much form each other it's great. I have loads of plans to upgrade. 😊
Awesome video man. You gave me the answer I needed to combated the dewalt rails. Thank you for the inspiration!
Glad to have been a help Brian that awesome. Cheers 🍻
I made something similar Brian. Hope you can get some ideias. You can watch it here. Cheers.

Great build. Thank you!
Cheers mate 😊
That’s a decent table. 3x2s are the way to go for sure. Saves a few £ and still solid.
Definitely mate, I've been using it for a while now and it's solid, the only thing I'm going to be changing is the casters to 100mm as the 50mm are a little small for such a big table.
What a super functional addition to the shop! I had considered building something like this for my saw, but opted for a smaller stand for more mobility. I’ll be curious to hear how you like it over time. Great job!
Cheers mate, this is really going to be everything for me out feed assembly router table workbench the lot 😊.
Thanks for sharing. I've been lacking inconfidence to take on building something like this myself, but I'm determined to try it now. I'm glad it's not just me who finds prices for timber so much more expensive in the UK than is implied by so many other (US?) videos.
Hi mate, it's definitely within reach if you can save some money in certain areas. Do you have a reclamation yard near you? I bought a load of timber from mine so cheap compared to the DIY shop. I now pay for everything in my workshop by selling furniture as its my full time job now as this video was a while ago now. Thanks for watching 😊
@@karlpopewoodcraft That's a good idea which for some reason I'd not thought of, I'll definitely have a search for one.
Love the UK based reality check! Not all of us have an unlimited supply of 2x4s and 3/4 ply for ‘a couple of bucks’ down at Home Depot! Thanks for this one Karl, a decent multi use workbench is on my spring to do list, just need it to stop raining and warm up a bit!
Cheers Ross, we do have a hard time with timber prices over here don't we 😭. I have a few pals in the states though as well who struggle to make ends meet and still put out decent content. It's a shame youtube just floods our feed with the biggest channels all the time as there is loads of great channels out there who don't get a look in. Check out some of the guys who comment on my videos 😊
Nice job Mate I can see you have put a lot of thought in to your build 👍 👍
Cheers Sparky, I'm loving at the moment 😊
That's going to be a great addition to your 'shop.
Cheers Andy loving it already 😍🍻
Awesome table.
Cheers mate 🍻😊
Nice build Karl look forward to seeing the upgrades how you getting with the table saw looks good
Oh I absolutely love it Terry its a great piece of kit, only one flaw is the miter gage but I can handle that as everything else is great. I'm loving it in the shed at the moment 😊 you should pop round for a brew mate one day soon. I'll give you a tinkle vie messenger when I get a few days off my real job. 😊
karlpopewoodcraft that sounds like a plan buddy let me know when
Thanks, mate! Super simple yet sturdy idea!
Cheers mate, it's been a great asset to the workshop. I'm going to be making some upgrades soon to improve it further.
@@karlpopewoodcraft I'm in the same boat. I think I've watched at least 40 videos on these different table ideas so I'm definitely formulating my own plan. Quick question. Are you going to cut channels for your sled in the extension at some point? I've seen that on a lot of the other plan and think it's something I'm going to add for sure.
@@stacytaylor3421 I think that's the best way to build your own mate, by the time you have watched that many videos you've basically built it over and over again in your mind. Ye I've added these now that I've built several sleds.
@@karlpopewoodcraft You got any good videos on the sleds?
@@karlpopewoodcraft Found one :)
Nice table Karl. You will appreciate the outfeed space.
Cheers Jordan and yes I just put an 8ft board through no trouble 😊
Awesome!!! This is what I was looking for
Cheers mate, I tell you what it's been the best upgrade to my workshop by a mile.
@@karlpopewoodcraft been watching your videos, awesome stuff! Wish I had a shop like yours but I’m in the garage with limited space but it works for now
@@bluegill2030 Cheers mate, a garage is decent though isn't it. I think if I'd of had a garage I probably wouldn't of built the workshop so quickly. Have you seen my very first video of me in my little shed 🙂 it's funny 😂
Nice one Karl! It’s always good to keep the cost down too.
Thank you and yes definitely I'm super happy with it.
Hello my friend. Dewalt is a good brand nice choice. Your idea of feeding and side extension table for bench circular saw is nice. You did a good job. Now you can use your saw more efficiently and beautifully. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. Great greetings....
Thank you that's really appreciated. 🙏😊
@@karlpopewoodcraft 😊😊
Looks great! I have something similar in mind for my shop, too. Thanks!
Cheers Sam, dirt cheap as well £70 for the lot - my table saw obviously 😂 I love her she needed a decent home. ❤️
Great build! Planning something similar in the fullness of time.
Cheers mate, it's definitely being a work horse, I'm planning on some upgrades soon as well. 🐴😊
karlpopewoodcraft did you go with 6’x3’ just because you felt it was as big as you could comfortably get away with in your workshop?
Very nice. I would've completely forgot about leaving space for the table saw rails haha. You've saved me a lot of swearing when I do mine
Thanks mate I'm really happy that I have managed to help. Cheers 😊
Nice build buddy.
Maybe some power outlets around the table for your Sanders ect.
And definitely some removable tool caddy's that either clip or slot in somehow.
Will certainly help you out on the bigger projects.
Thanks for sharing
Great ideas Lee, I will definitely be using them 100%
Got to do a table like this for my dewalt so some good stuff to “borrow”
I'm loving it already mate just added my old router to the underside as well with a round over permanently housed.
Brilliant mate 3 x 2 are more than strong enough very similar to one I built last year for my bosch saw. Shops coming on now mate looking good. Just followed you on pinterest and sent you image of mine on there
Ye just seen it and now following you, you have a great shop😊

Cheers Keith I also just added my old router to the underside of the out feed table as well with a round over permanently housed. 😊
I feel your pain with cost it's the same here in Australia, nice table nice and strong and sturdy.
Thanks mate I know you guys have it worse at least our beer is cheap yours is crazy expensive 🍻
@@karlpopewoodcraft haha yeah. We have some cheap beer but it's the imports that are really expensive in which I prefer😔
Stick with the Fosters mate or the Castlemaine xxxx 🤣
@@karlpopewoodcraft haha I don't think I have ever seen a fosters in real life. No one drinks that here apparently it is a disgusting beer😂 never heard of castlemaine either haha. I usually drink some cheap low carb stuff or coors
good job
Thanks John.
GREAT build Karl. I am just starting a shop in a 1 car garage and was looking for a table just like this. Basic, but expandable and somewhat portable for LARGE sheet goods etc.
Thank you mate, since this build I found the castors to be a bit smaller than needed so I upgraded to 75mm casters and the bench slides around great now. It's brilliant as a out feed and side extension, the assembly area is great and you can add a router underneath the upgrades are endless 😊
@@karlpopewoodcraft Yeah, a good strong base then "let you mind wander". I think I will stretch it out to 7 feet (2100+MM)
It's crazy how expensive stuff is in the UK. Great job Karl! 👍
Cheers Grant, ye but I'm getting really good at bargain hunting on Facebook market place and reclaimed centres 🙂
Grant, that's why we do so many pallet projects 👍
@@Everythings_Adjustable that doesn't explain Paul Jackman 🤣
I got no answer to that 😁
Great build buddy! Tge dewalt is on my wishlist aswell. 👍
Cheers mate, by the way it's a beaut 😍
Great table build. It will make using the tablesaw much better & easier & safer. I know when i built mine it changed the way i used the tablesaw. I have to extend my fence right out beyond the table to remove it. I was looking at building mine the same way. I love my table but there are some changes i would make. Wish i could have mine in a more central location but my workshops smaller then yours.
Cheers Grumpy, what is the sq ft of your space?
@@karlpopewoodcraft total footprint is about 7.9 x 15.9
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 I think mine is 10x17ft ill check 🤔

@@GrumpysWorkshop4 mine is 2.5m upto the eaves 😊 and not a millimetre above I know from the stress lol
Great vid Karl as usual. Lots of detail with some good techniques used to good effect e.g. Pocket holes which imo are SO under-rated. Did you record the router addition?
Cheers Neil, ref the router Unfortunately not but I will discuss it when I do an update video on the additions to the table . 😊
I think this is a lot like the one I'm going to be making for my saw.
Great hope your build goes well mate.
Congrat mate, you made my life so easy with your clean explanations. What about the reference of the dewalt you used to cut the pannels? I just bought the Erbauer ER2100 when i saw your tuto on yutube. I'm looking for a good vacuum . do you have tips for me? a fan from paris.
Bonjour my friend, thank you for your feedback that really kind of you to say. At the moment we use a Henry hoover, he's not designed for a Workshop but does the job 😊 looking to upgrade soon though, possibly a titan or dewalt.
You said you might tighten up the gap to the outfeed. If you do you'll need to remove the saw to realign the fence. So I'd suggest keeping the gap. Looks fine to me.
Hi Donald I've left it as it is and that gap has come in so handy for clamping thin too the bench. 😊
At first, I was skeptical about using 2" x 3" but I have to say this looks to be built like a tank.
I don't suppose there's plan and or written instructions for this project (?)
Thank you for sharing.
Hi mate, it's definitely held up well over the year or so, not a squeak or rumble from it, Solid as a rock. Unfortunately I don't use sketch up or any other form of plan writing I just doodle a rough picture and then a more detailed drawing but all by hand. I am actually trying to learn sketch up at the moment so this is possible in the future. Thank you for watching and your kind feedback.
Great job 👍
Thank you 😊
karlpopewoodcraft any tips on how to grow a UA-cam channel?
@@o.g.bwoodwork been wondering the same thing. Struggling to get subs & views on my channel
Grumpy's Workshop I’m struggling as well to be honest. UA-cam seems to be very slow growth compared to social media.
It's the whole algorithm thing isn't it, it's way too complicated for me but basically youtube is owned by Google and Google make money from advertising so if people watch your videos Google make money. My top five tips are 1, make content people want to watch
2, share your videos on other social media ie twitter, Facebook, Instagram, redit, Pinterest
3, join groups woodworking makers and interact with them regularly
4, comment on other similar channels. Make conversations then people will notice you.
5, buy a mic talk don't just play music, keep your personalised touch people like it real, keep clips short, interesting to the point, humour, and always answer questions and chat with your subscribers they are real people. Hope this helps a little guys 😊
Liked the video and subscribed to your channel! Will borrow some ideas of yours 😀. Greetings from Ukraine!
Thank you 😊 You found me in the Ukraine thats amazing 🇺🇦😊
Nice job Karl it Came out really good if you’re thinking about upgrades you might want to consider putting a under bench vice on it looks plenty sturdy enough PS what did it cost you in the end with all the wood? 👍
Hi mate just noticed 70 quit on you’re heading that’s a really good price me for such a sturdy useful Outfeed table Great job
Hi Ben ye I'll definitely be installing a vice, I have a small one 😂 but I could do with upgrading to a larger quick release. I have already added my router to the underside that will permanently house a round over, its a really old knackered router but works fine. 😊
I think that’s a really clever idea mate put as many things as possible on your workbench save on space 👍
Your workshop is so similar in size to mine including the rexon saw. yours is bigger. My current saw bench was designed so I could store the mitre saw legs folded in the base and store the saw. I am now looking to create more space so I am thinking how I could incorporate a Titan planer thicknesses sideways at the end of my bench possibly with a hinged part worktop. I like your construction method. Do you think I would be pushing it if I tried to add a router and somewhere for to mitre saw clamps to attach my mitre saw on the side and a coffee machine maybe I will just stick to a router. Look forward to see how develop your workshop.cheers John from County Durham England
Hi John that sounds amazing, a coffee machine ☕😁I would definitely add a router I did but it died.
Excellent Build Karl, i also use 3x2 mainly for the cost as well, i get mine from Wicks on-line and delivered, where did you get yours from?
I'm in the middle of trying a few designs, i would like an assembly table/out feed table but with some tracks put in it for clamping down stuff.
Barry (Wirral, ENG)
Hi Barry cheers mate, I go to a place called budget timbers I try my best to use the local suppliers rather than the big retail companies 🤔. However wickes is my go to if they don't have what I need. Ye I'm definitely going to be working on lots of upgrades for the Table as it has a tone of potential 😊
Well done babe. X
thanks wifey.....
I think I’m gonna build one in Canada
Awesome 👌
I just made a table for my table saw, I wish I would have seen this before I made it, I have the exact same table saw and the model I went off of for the table had a smaller saw. Gonna have to end up cutting some slots to be able to use my slide.. boo
Bugger, I'm sure you will be able to adapt it in some way though 😊
Solid table. That’s not going anywhere any time soon.
Cheers Mike, I've been pushing it around the shop for a few days now and it's definitely solid. 😊
A great looking table there. When you say 3 x 2, is that 38 x 63 mm or 47 x 75mm? I'm a noob to woodworking! Thanks 👍
Hi mate thank you, oh it's 38x63 sorry I often switch from metric to imperial but I'm trying so hard to stick with metric. 😊
Great build. Follower now. Can you tell me about the Dewalt saw you used to cut the plywood with the rails? I'm interested in one.
Hi Taure it's a Dewalt Plunge saw / track saw, it's a great bit of kit. I do have a video about this machine from when I first purchased it. I'll pop the link here for you.

Thanks so much for the speedy response. Where did you get 12 lengths of 3x2 for £30 I’m in Leicester and can’t find it for less than £50☹️

Nice one James, where the hell do you find all these bed slats😂😂
@@karlpopewoodcraft They are generally 35x70mm and due to where I live having lots of unit blocks are nearly constantly dumped on the verges.
