I don't think I have ADHD, but I started crocheting by just doing a regular square for so long. Then I made a handful of octopuses in a week and then went on to make pigs and then went on to make my own patterns of sharks, cacti, and succulents
I startet a blanked with a lot of hexagonal little parts.... I started 5 years ago... all the parts are done and put together... I just need to close off some seams 😅 it's a nightmare.... but i also started an animal... Also not done. And another blanket... all unfinished. I suck 😅
@@Chakrenqueen no you don't. you can finish a project ANY time. I have all sorts of things finished and unfinished, and sometimes i even have to force myself to do a project imperfectly, just to get it done, like my biltong box i finished a couple days ago...i'd waited months to find the perfect display cabinet and i freaking still can't, so i literally took a couple hours and made one with a cardboard box, clear packing tape, a dollar tree fan and dollar tree metal skewer set, some hooks I made with wire, and some old fabric. i now have home made jerky, and will forever...and eventually i will find my box and upgrade it. The major takeaway is that the people who would criticise us for being this way, never freaking do anything cool tho, for real. I've noticed that every single time. At least we have varied interests, learn new things, learn new ideas, gain skill sets, and become inspired, and to the right people we inspire them as well. This line has gotten me back into crocheting in general more. I've been avoiding things that require referring to a pattern regularly and just making things with simple repeats but it's not satisfying me anymore. I started working on a pair of horns last night and I was so happy every time I finished a row just because of the difference in outlook :D
Yes, I love that tooooo! Girl you’re so awesome and THANK YOU for posting this great info … now I feel the dish cloths are too advanced for me 🙄😅🤪 I think 1 out of 10 coming out perfectly square sucks but . . . I keep trying (now Wisteria is giving me 🤯) at least it’s only for our kitchen (I did make an embarrassing wonky one for a friend)
Literally! I played guitar for YEARS as a kid but I never wanted to practice unless the song I was learning was fun to play or I really really liked how it sounded. As an adult the only times I ever pick up a guitar is to play a specific song that I wanna learn. I don’t remember the basic stuff anymore but I have more motivation to play than I did as a kid. I also taught myself a few songs on the piano this way. No idea how to play piano but I learned those songs so technically i *can* play the piano. Just not as well as most people who play the piano can. But it’s still better than the people who can’t play it at all!
The stuff animals scare me. They look so complicated. But they are so gosh darn cute. I really should try and break my scarf habit and make one of those.
@@kindledragon2687 Do it! The first crochet piece I ever made was a stuffed penguin. The only hard part of it was figuring out how to make a magic loop, the rest was just single stitch and remembering to put in a stitch marker at the start of a row cause losing your place when working in a round is Pain.
@@kindledragon2687honestly the sphere shaped ones are the easiest cus you just do a flat circle, even walls, then the same circle in reverse. i usually don’t pick up hobbies like this well because i simply can’t focus once the novelty of is wears off and the dopamine goes down as a result, but thanks to this advice i’ve been crocheting for around a year now!!
Was told putting yourself in difficult or doing stuff that's difficult is A LOT more fulfilling than doing mundane tasks with ADHD, why do you think most people with ADHD are adrenaline junkies? Hahahahaha😅
If you have ADHD and hyperfixations pro tip: crochet a doll that looks like your favorite character. Start off with something easy. There’s a crochet cactus tutorial I followed because I had a bunch of green yarn left over from when I tried crocheting when I was *10* (yes, that’s the last time I crocheted before this year), then I moved to a small doll of Kim Kitsuragi, and now I’m making little Weebee dolls of Honkai Star Rail characters.
@theshanamaster it's not so much adrenaline junkies as dopamine junkies. It's all in the dopamine. Our reward centers need more stimulation with novelty to keep the same level of motivation going through long term projects. So we have to learn to trick our brains with smaller more frequent rewards, or turn the process into a game or a race, or add novelty with new challenges or things to learn.
Very glad you made this. This is what my wife does for probably half of the day to relieve her ADHD and/or stress. She makes all kinds of animals, mushrooms, fairies, little dice bags and slippers, hand warmers (fingerless gloves imho), and for Christmas she makes everyone scarves or mittens or hats or whatever :) It's nuts how quick she got the hang of it all, and how much she has progressed inside a couple years. It's amazing what you guys can make.
My adhd friend got into crocheting and the only thing she’s been making is bees, tiny squids, scarfs and hats for the bees it’s literally so adorable 😭
This video is literally how I managed to start crocheting - thanks Elyse! From me several months later I’d been knitting for some time and I do still love knitting but it takes more time and it’s really easy to mess up, (and I was really really good at messing up) and so before I even saw this video the only things I finished with knitting were these bunnies I found out how to make. I tried to crochet and everyone I knew was doing scarves and hats as their beginner projects, I’m not super motivated by scarves and hats and it didn’t go anywhere and I didn’t think I was good enough at it to try anything “more difficult” I saw this video and I couldn’t stop thinking about it, over thanksgiving break I made a turtle that I love, I made a dinosaur for my best friend that was so ugly but she loved it, for Christmas I made my sister a penguin and I asked my mom for nothing but yarn for Christmas. It’s July and I now have like 30 balls of yarn in a shoe organizer in my closet and have like a million things I want to make that I’m pretty sure I could make and it motivated me to get into sewing too. Holy crap
ADHD and art is no joke. You really nailed it with getting 2 squares in and calling it a success. It was like you were describing my life. So visceral.
@@AmmoGus1 It's not that these are unique to people with ADHD - which, by the way, don't assume it's not something you yourself are affected by - it's that they experience all of it in a much more drastic way. You could be playing video games you like, instead.
@@AmmoGus1this is actually a trait of adhd, if you google it for two minutes plenty of good reliable sources explaining this part of adhd will come up. It’s a huge struggle we have, not being able to complete tasks. It greatly impacts our lives, outside of crafting. Why are you just minimizing that as a general human struggle we all face when it’s quite specifically not? Can you not see the thousands of ADHDers relating in the comments and thanking her for the great advice? This is for people with ADHD. It’s not for people who want to invalidate the difficult realities of ADHD. Go somewhere else. There’s probably hate forums you can join to spread your nastiness but keep it away from Elise. She creates a safe space here to discuss what it’s like to live with ADHD. You’re not welcome here.
My favourite way to do granny squares, is to find lots of tutorials of cool, colourful, and sometimes 3d ones, and then do a bunch of different ones. It never loses my attention because there are so many colours and it's quick, and you see your work happen fast. Then if you want to put them together you have a really cool blanket multicolored blanket
As someone who crochets and doesn't have ADHD; Do not start with granny squares, start with stuffed animals 😂 Honestly its a good advice for everyone. Just pick a chibi, round toy to start with.
I have a whole book on small animals and another book on small like human things with stumps so they can stand, easiest thing I did. I tried learning with normal "easy" stuff but couldn't
@@Xxx-dh3bgIts just harder for people with ADHD because its really hard for them to concentrate, and focus, no-one is saying its only hard for people with ADHD
@@colettebarrett-morris3962 Well there seems to be a lot of women out there that want to say that everything is ADHD. Tons of people out there are claiming that they have ADHD for no reason.
@Xxx-dh3bg so you verified every claim that they weren't dx or tested for adhd? Women and girls have historically been under dx, in the last 20 years research as aided women and girls to be recognized outside of their male counterparts. This could explain the uptick you observe but don't believe.
I'm so glad I came across your video again. I saw your video back when I first started last year and I took your advice. You've saved me so much heartache.
My mom literally made "unfinished" blankets because the cats liked to lay on them, and 1-2 squares is the perfect size for a cat blanket. The first one was actually cuz she started a blanket and the cat laid on it constantly so she just left that one and restarted with a slightly different pattern to leave the cat's tile unique
That is so cute! And so relatable to pet owners! My home is barely accessible to me anymore, because of all the accommodations I've made for my elderly dog with IVDD 😅🥰
My mom did the same but for a different reason she started a blanket with one type of yarn and was doing a pattern but only had enough of the yarn to do that one section so it got turned into a cat blanket which was good since we had a couple month old kitten and it was winter
I was making a baby mobile and one day I couldn’t find a couple of the pieces, come to find out my cat had stolen them. I put them back in my project bin, got taken again, it happened a couple more times until I understood they were his now and I better made replacements 🤣
So true!!! Once you get the hang of crocheting and feel pretty confident try creating a mandala. So many rows, and different stitches. It was the most engaging project I have done. Maybe one day I will finish it 😂.
Haha that's so true about granny squares for us. Its so great that you address this for us. It's the same way for me with the form of ADD without hyperactivity, Innatentive, ADD, IN other words we daydream all day, and I'll fall asleep constantly while I crochet or any activity that you do while sitting. Its so overwhelming to think of how time consuming it is to crochet that many squares, or even to finish a blanket. I have at SO MANY patterns and balls of yarn unstarted or unfinished in totes. I really have to hyperfocus and get super excited and set deadlines for myself that I have to make to keep my mind stimulated. Its so f-ed up because I LOVE crocheting. Knowing tho that it does take forever to finish a granny square blanket, it is also a good practice for me to just bring my hook and yarn with me everywhere I go. There's always time stuck in traffic, and doctors waiting rooms and even if it takes a year to finish a blanket I can finish it, and each granny square I complete gives me a sense of confidence and satisfaction for completing a beautiful little project. The sense of satisfaction and confidence for completing all those squares, makes it a thousand times easier to stich them together and see the blanket form as you go at the end! I just LOVE the feeling I get from a completed blanket, and it teaches us patience with ourselves. I do see what you're saying, I think any form of crochet is great for us with ADD, ( really for anyone a totally healthy dopamine and noradrenaline trigger we need.) When I hear you speak I TOTALLY hear myself. LOL
You are. Actually a lifesaver. I tried to learn crochet by making a scarf, turned out so bad and was so not fun I didn’t crochet for like a year or two. My dad unearthed some decent crochet hooks and I remembered this advice and made a duck. I named him Opposum. It was wonderful, now I want to crochet everything, thank you, seriously
As an ADHD crocheter, the plushy advice is so damn real! Its actually funny how much easier it is, and way more forgiving to added ir dropped stitches. Like you dont have to worry about it fitting comfortably or looking flattering. As long as its vaguely shaped like the thing you're going for you're golden 👍
As an advanced crocheter, this is a great tip not just for people with ADHD. And it applies for other hobbies too. Start with a smaller project that still has something complicated in it. You can finish it in a reasonable amount of time but it also feels like a true achievement.
You have the best, most motivational, and realistic advice for all of us who struggle! ❤❤❤ If you have granny squares, I'd sew two together (on top of each other) and they'd be heat mats for the table 😊
For real!!! So many non-ADHD people think the best thing to do is a repetitive, dull, task over and over. And then they wonder why we get sick of it! And they go “Oh well if you can’t even do the easy things you can’t do the hard ones!” and just- NO! It’s the exact opposite!!!
I have made 2 hats and I love the repetitive nature of them. Granny squares are a wishlist item for me but so far every attempt has ended up a rounded pot holder.😅
Yeah, I started with hats too. Made a ton of them for me & relatives. Got v good at it. Have started several granny sq throws & have never finished one. lololol
You inspired me to learn how to crochet. My boyfriend bought me a Woobles kit and I just finished making the body of a stuffed bunny. This is literally one of the proudest moments of my life.
Facts. I started crocheting little animals years ago when I was resting at home with a concussion. My ADHD ass was so pleased with myself after completing little figures. I haven’t crocheted in years but I still have a collection of little guys that I made and I still feel good about actually having something to show for my efforts. As a result, I stayed interested for a lot longer!
If you do start with granny squares and can’t finish 100 for a blanket, there are lots of bags that use far fewer granny squares that you can make instead.
Another option is to find a pattern that uses multiple different types of granny squares (like different flowers or different stitch samples) so it's less redundant.😊
@@Tim_ra Maybe, but it’s not only one symptom that ADHD has, so it’s hard to say is it just bad focus or really adhd /without negativity (I forget how this calls sorry..)
Hats and scarfs are also good starter projects. They're typically not complicated and can be completed in a couple hours. Baby stuff is also good to make since they're small and work up quick.
I actually started crocheting because I wanted to make stuffed animals, so I did and I have been making those stuffed animals. For three years. And I only just made my very first granny square today. I’m not even kidding. Today. After three years.
no fr, i've made so many stuffed animals for people i love, i always go through phases of crocheting a lot and then stopping for a bit. i think i've made at least 30 plushies over the last 2 years or so (i'm not sure, hell, my boyfriend alone has 8 currently).. but how many granny square projects have i made? one. small bag. which has been unfinished (missing lining) for a MONTH. edit: ok 30 is definitely too low of a number but you get the idea
@@nicodiangelo1942 yeah lol! Idk why but granny squares took me longer to figure out than a magic ring (which is like the hardest thing to figure out imo) because I kept chaining on the sides but you are only supposed to chain on the corners? Still confused but yeah haha
I saw this video before crochet even crossed my mind. 3 months later my mom thought i need new hobby and brought me yarn 🧶 and hook. I remembered THIS video! I have full house of stuffed keychains as i absolutly love tiny stuffies 🥰🥰🥰 Because of your advice it stuk for 6months now.
omg if you're not quite ready to start projects but don't wanna learn granny squares, just make a bunch of little rectangles with yarn you like. Im talking the size of a phone. It's fun to see the stitches make a pattern and theyre soft and nice to hold
Sameeee! I'm always anxious I'll start something new and my ADHD getting me to drop it because I get bored so easily! I loveee that there's more and more people creating content for us 😭💜
Its possible y’all have undiagnosed adhd I didn’t realize it until age 32. Recently took a bunch of diagnostic quizzes and scored very high 🫣 If youve been called lazy, unmotivated, selfish, weird, and made fun of fir the dumbest shit that you cant control, id find the quizzes. Take the quizzes.
THIS IS TRUE!!! as someone who gets bored easily (not adhd) and have been crocheting for almost 3 years, making stuffed animals REALLY made me interested and keep coming back, and once you're sick with following pattern, you go make your own it's MORE challenging and interesting!!
I’m trying to make stuffed animals and I can’t even get the first stitch correct. I have to do a magic circle and then continue upwards and I can’t get it
I really dislike stuffed animals … it might be a generational thing … blankets, scarves , hats, bags .. useful stuff is great but … teddies … duck know xx
As someone who's crocheted for 5 years. Forget the squares. Don't like animals? Try flowers. They're all different. So many combinations, colours. Edging. Endless possibilities.
I started crocheting because I wanted to do the folklore Betty cardigan and I was confused but I learned quickly and finished it in 5 days and that has been my proudest accomplishment to this day.
omgg i've been dyingggg to make that but i can't find a good pattern to follow what pattern did u follow?? also, congratulations on making it btw its still sooo daunting to me!
You have no clue how bad I needed this. I started crocheting last year and I haven’t made anything yet. Just a bunch on random patterns I taught myself. Thank you!!
TOTALLY agree! I've started my crocheting hobby with animals and continue to learn smth new now by doing dolls and clothes by patterns. It always has smth to teach you so it's really good way to learn
As a fellow ADHD crocheter, there is a type of blanket called an endless granny square. It's literally just one large granny square. You don't have to piece anything together. 😁
she is so real for this! i love crochet and have adhd, and dropped crochet for like 5 years because i thought i couldn’t crochet, because i couldn’t finish a granny square blanket 😂 now i crochet my own wardrobe and love it!
Followed your advice. Now swimming in ADORABLE little crochet creatures. Totally fell in love with crochet, don't know how to watch telly without it now
Do look at your work or the TV? I am enjoying crafts so much along watching TV but I realized I watched entire shows and movies without knowing what they look like
I have autism and adhd and I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOVVVEEE granny squares. They are tiny hits of instant gratification and they keep me going through the project and I can get through them so fast it’s the solid things that kept me away from crocheting since I was 8 and I’m so happy to be back at it😭🖤
This is absolutely the best advice ever. Wish I would have known this when I started 6 yrs ago. I have a king sized comforter bag full of unfinished projects.
i ended up making a scrap blanket out of all of my unfinished crochet/knitting projects! i had a lot that was either squares, scarves, or just other flat pieces, so it worked out perfect! it's definitely not the prettiest thing, but i think it's cool 🤣
Lmao. I crochet. I have adhd. I agree. I started with amigurumi and am working on a daisy granny square blanket now. She’s a thousand percent right. Start small.
I love seeing content from creators who have ADHD because, it helps me feel seen and understood. As much as neurotypical people say the understand they never really do lol
Bruh, what she said there literally applies to everyone who wants to crochet. A stuffed animal is less monotonous and more rewarding, nothing to do with ADHD.
@@neoniceyou’ve got a point: I have ADHD, but I do think that todays people are very quick to tire of activities. Phones have given us short attention spans and a need for near-instant gratification. So advice such as this video ends up applying to a lot more than just people with ADHD.
This is 1000% true 😂 I’ve been crocheting for over 20 years and I have completed a total of 1 granny square project 😂. Amigurumi is absolutely the way to go. You just sit there counting stitches but it moves fast. I find it to be very meditative for my adhd paralysis. Thanks for this important PSA!
I had to come back and say as someone with adhd this was literally the video that convinced me to actually start crocheting and I’ve since made so many things I love so much and just wanted to come back and say thank you lol. I’ve even started a business selling patterns and plushies ❤️ you were so right
❤ I love the fact that you came back to crocheting. Have you tried crocheting with thread. Aunt Lydia's thread. You can make a lot of different items with the thread. Snow flakes and dollies. It's fun too❤
I went middle ground. I started an afghan for my first project. It got big enough to be a blanket for my dachshund and it became an afghan for my dog. She loved it though! So baby blankets good for sure. They can also become dog blankets 😂
I love you soooo much!!! Everything you do is amazing. Do you know how much better this world is because you're putting out videos? I wish you happiness and love for you and your beautiful family. Thank you.
I've been doing crochet for YEARS!! I don't have ADHD. I finish the 115 squares. Every one of those squares are still sitting there, patiently waiting to be put together!! You are so right! Animals don't take too long. And before long, you have a completed project!!
Yes!! A simple animal or hat 😂 some of us leaned the hard way and are swimming in half made/different color granny squares cause we can’t remember what project we started them for or where that color of yarn went 😂😂
*mini* stuffed animals. I literally never get bored because i finish them so fast, theyre one of my only craft things that doesn't get abandonned half way through
BRO. I was just about to start crocheting with granny squares RIGHT NOW. Oh my god. You sound very correct. I don't think I will go back to doing granny squares after doing 2 of them or until I get a hang of it lmao. Omg. You're a saviour 😂😂😂
A lot of parents find out they have adhd after their child gets diagnosed hahaha. I dont think my parents will ever be dignosed but once i was diagnosed and explained to my parents what was going on with me, they started telling me all this shit that i actually remembered and holy crap what do you know, getting a diagnosis for them is like testing whether we see the sky blue.
I strongly approve, and I’m currently surrounded by : a giant koala, a giant snake, two jellyfishes and one frog. And I also did one purse and 2 tote-bags. I crochet since 4 weeks. I’m obsessed
I started learning about two months ago impulsively and I've finished 10 projects thus far - and I second the stuffed animals suggestion. They're very engaging mentally and you can see your progress significantly faster than you can with granny squares. And the serotonin from giving someone something you made is top tier honestly
I have ADHD, And I can tell you- Ive been working on this blanket for my mom for over 2 years. In the meantime Ive finished countless stuffies for myself and my partner. Stuffies are the way to go
STOP THIS IS SO REAL i crocheted as a child and dropped it for YEARS, but i revently got back into it and made a moon and star keychain, a headset leaf, and then a jellyfish. learning the new stitches, seeing it come together, and getting a cute creation out of it motivated me to keep crocheting!
Saameeee, I crocheted as a child and teenager. Eventually burnt myself out by taking the recommendation of making _all_ the granny squares. Didn't pick crochet back up for about *ten years* and the first thing I made? A big ole octopus with the longest and twistiest legs. My newest mission is to make a hanging sloth plant holder (with possible matching and attached babies, if my ambition gets me that far) for my sister and her kiddos.
MY STUPID ASS MISREAD UR COMMENT AS “I CROCHETED A CHILD” INSTEAD OF “I CROCHETED AS A CHILD” AND I WAS SO CONFUSED WHEN U SAID YOU DROPPED IT (THE CHILD) AND WHY THE REPLIES AGREED WITH YOU 😭💀
I concur!! I started with a wobble (Woodstock bird pattern) and then made a lemon coaster with the leftover yarn. Then I started making pumpkins and now I’m making a bag!!! A pattern came up for a bag with squares and I got overwhelmed and found another pattern with rounds. THE BEST!
This is so validating, I keep teaching myself new crafts all the time because it's exciting but I never can bring myself to get good at anything because I get bored with practice. Trying to embrace the fact that I am apparently meant to know a little bit of everything rather than be an expert at anything.
Omgsh YES YES YES. I feel this in my bones. I am very this way. Also just called myself a jack of all trades. I always thought it was a negative trait to have, but just meant to have knowledge in lots of areas.
Excellent advice lol. I do love crochet plushies. I usually make practical projects. Hats, blankets, vests, scarves, cowls, shawls, gloves and mittens…and I never use patterns. I like to make everything custom or I make my own patterns as I go. It saves me from being slowed down or frustrated by other people’s patterns and let’s my creativity shine. I don’t have a hard time finishing products I know will be useable, and I only ever aim to make useable products. I guess I’m not really a beginner anymore though, since I learned to crochet when I was like 7 years old. But I keep it pretty simple and not overly ambitious so no yarn or time ever goes to waste. Think about your enjoyment of the activity throughout as well, like would you enjoy lugging an entire blanket or sweater and multiple colors of yarn with you when you want to work on your project outside home? Maybe, but keeping projects small makes it much easier to enjoy crocheting to pass the time during certain other activities. I also avoid starting anymore than one project at a time.

Then some arms legs and sew a face. ✨Ta da✨ all done and it is so cute.
Then you can learn the more complicated one from there.
😁

Certified ADHD recommendation
This really doesnt seem like a specifically ADHD thing but okay
certified ADHD second recommendation

This video is literally how I managed to start crocheting - thanks Elyse! From me several months later
I’d been knitting for some time and I do still love knitting but it takes more time and it’s really easy to mess up, (and I was really really good at messing up) and so before I even saw this video the only things I finished with knitting were these bunnies I found out how to make.
I tried to crochet and everyone I knew was doing scarves and hats as their beginner projects, I’m not super motivated by scarves and hats and it didn’t go anywhere and I didn’t think I was good enough at it to try anything “more difficult”
I saw this video and I couldn’t stop thinking about it, over thanksgiving break I made a turtle that I love, I made a dinosaur for my best friend that was so ugly but she loved it, for Christmas I made my sister a penguin and I asked my mom for nothing but yarn for Christmas. It’s July and I now have like 30 balls of yarn in a shoe organizer in my closet and have like a million things I want to make that I’m pretty sure I could make and it motivated me to get into sewing too.

ADHD and art is no joke. You really nailed it with getting 2 squares in and calling it a success. It was like you were describing my life. So visceral.
Ppl with adhd experiencing universal human situations and attributing it to adhd is getting pretty old
@@AmmoGus1 So true
@@AmmoGus1 It's not that these are unique to people with ADHD - which, by the way, don't assume it's not something you yourself are affected by - it's that they experience all of it in a much more drastic way.
But like, idk, just let people commiserate? There's no harm to you. This video and these comments are not made for or about you. Just move on, bro. You're wasting your time.
@AmmoGus1 tell me you don't actually understand what ADHD is without actually telling me
My favourite way to do granny squares, is to find lots of tutorials of cool, colourful, and sometimes 3d ones, and then do a bunch of different ones. It never loses my attention because there are so many colours and it's quick, and you see your work happen fast. Then if you want to put them together you have a really cool blanket multicolored blanket

As someone who crochets and doesn't have ADHD;
Do not start with granny squares, start with stuffed animals 😂
Honestly its a good advice for everyone. Just pick a chibi, round toy to start with.
I have a whole book on small animals and another book on small like human things with stumps so they can stand, easiest thing I did. I tried learning with normal "easy" stuff but couldn't

That's adorable 😭
My mom did the same but for a different reason she started a blanket with one type of yarn and was doing a pattern but only had enough of the yarn to do that one section so it got turned into a cat blanket which was good since we had a couple month old kitten and it was winter
As a kid I would just crochet blankets for my stuffed animals cos I didn't have the patience to do more than that lol
I was making a baby mobile and one day I couldn’t find a couple of the pieces, come to find out my cat had stolen them. I put them back in my project bin, got taken again, it happened a couple more times until I understood they were his now and I better made replacements 🤣

As a veteran crocheter:
THIS IS FANTASTIC ADVICE!
As someone with ADHD who got back into crochet because I wanted to make stuffed animals... yes. All of this.
Same!!!
same!!
This is the kind of practical life advice I need
LOL
"it has eyes... that's cute" soo good 🤣
I am a thousand percent more likely to enjoy a craft if it has eyes. I cannot tell you how many bead critters I made in the ‘90s. So many.

The fact it has eyes will be an added motivation. It will look at you, begging to be finished and you will do so out of obligation and guilt.
As someone that crochets and has made a lot of stuffed animals, I can confirm the eyes will guilt you into finishing the project
Granny squares are so boring
I have ADHD too and NOTHING ever gets done, I don't crochet but I could so see how a stuffed animals would be easier
This!!
As an idiot, I love crochet
‘Oh shit how am I at 42 stitches instead of 40… ah I’ll just do an invisible decrease and keep going’
Also thicker the yarn the better! Lol less stitches. Duh
I once started a baby blanket for a friend. That kid is now about 18, and I still have about 20 pastel squares sitting in a box somewhere.
😅😂😂
Hahaha. You can gift it to your friend's grandchild
This was actually a solid ADHD recommendation lol Thank you
For real!!! So many non-ADHD people think the best thing to do is a repetitive, dull, task over and over. And then they wonder why we get sick of it! And they go “Oh well if you can’t even do the easy things you can’t do the hard ones!” and just- NO! It’s the exact opposite!!!
As an AuDHDer I love crochet! It's the perfect balance between quick visible progress, variety, and relaxing repetition and patterning.

As a person with ADHD, and I want to start crotcheting I am really thankful for the tip, and now I just need to get the materials :>❤ thanks again!😊
This is literally me on anything. I start full of enthusiasm but never finish anything
SAME
I have ADHD, And I can tell you- Ive been working on this blanket for my mom for over 2 years.
Wait did u see those things from lilthings?!
@@venomiplayz i did!! i've recently made a capybara, penguin, and bird too. so so fun!
@@HauntedLamb that sounds like an awesome project!! i'd love to see the result someday, i'm sure your sister and children will love it
MY STUPID ASS MISREAD UR COMMENT AS “I CROCHETED A CHILD” INSTEAD OF “I CROCHETED AS A CHILD” AND I WAS SO CONFUSED WHEN U SAID YOU DROPPED IT (THE CHILD) AND WHY THE REPLIES AGREED WITH YOU 😭💀
I concur!! I started with a wobble (Woodstock bird pattern) and then made a lemon coaster with the leftover yarn. Then I started making pumpkins and now I’m making a bag!!! A pattern came up for a bag with squares and I got overwhelmed and found another pattern with rounds. THE BEST!
You've unlocked my soul, thank you, you beautiful stranger.
As a fellow crocheter since the age of 8, I highly recommend starting with amigurimi patterns.
8?! keep it up lil person
Am 10 and i crochet too

I'm 18 and i do not know how crochet 😢
@@mekorinn thanks!
Yes I absolutly see myself in your statement also! Finally a kindred spirit 😊
A jack of all, a master of none. Not the most flattering thing tho )))
@@theanahoss2600nah I find it very flattering, makes a person more interesting
Omg I have been saying this my ENTIRE LIFE
Excellent advice lol.
