@@elise9537 This parallel world you all seem to live in where people can walk into a courtroom, have their sexual lives over the last 40 years examined in forensic detail by trained prosecutors over weeks and months, yet come out the other side completely exonerated but are somehow still guilty of being prolific predators is an absolute hellscape.
What you have to look into regarding this guys past, is his connection to Brian singer the director. Singer was the director that gave him his big break in Hollywood in the movie usual suspects. They had a early connection in the business and work alot together. Well what you can do is do a Wikipedia search of Brian singer. What you will find in great detail is his similar allegations of mass sexual assault on males and minors. Singer may have more allegations than this guy. Both of them some how bought or weaseled their way out of criminal charges. They are both predators imo, and it's very strange that they both act very similar. ya know, a lot of stuff that was once considered playful or merely 'kinda pushy' is now days seen by many as 'violence.' standards change and interactions between people on this level are really complex.
Agreed, and I feel that it's sad. I remember when people could playfully say "no" (like Bill Burr points out in his comedy) but it obviously meant yes. And of course some people are bad at reading the room, but I think 100% of all the male friends I have, and even a lot of the female ones, would get in legal trouble by today's absurd standards. You can never be sure of anything an actor says.... Having lived in LA for over 30 years and catering to the more affluent, as I'm an artist, I've had to deal with a lot of "gay" clients - Being a straight man and not unattractive (particularly when I was younger), having to deal with the constant attempts at flirting can be a real bummer. I've had gay men say some of the most disgusting things to me, that to them is just normal - I've had to respond where I tell them not to talk to me like that and some just can't help it. I've had to walk away from quite a few clients because of it....

It’s funny so many comments are saying he gives off creepy vibes, etc when that’s not evident to me. It really seems like most of the people saying that still assume guilt after he was acquitted for criminal AND civil cases, which have a much lower bar for ‘guilt.’ There was no sexual assault and things were proven in court that many incidents didn’t even happen. Let’s just hope none of us are accused of things, as even if you’re found innocent after Due Process, most will still think you did something and your life will never be the same. An example that comes to mind is that college football player accused of rape, found innocent, it was proven the accuser made it all up, and his life is still messed up, as most still think he did it. Fyi, nothing happened to the lying accuser.
I get your point but in the case of the football player there was one accuser. With Spacey, there are multiple over a period of time who have not relation to each other. The criminal 'justice" system is riddled with ineffectiveness and has time and time again, demonstrating that those with money (and power) can evade justice.

OJ murdered two people, and there were many factors that went into play that resulted in his acquittal, including race relations in LA at the time, the LAPD, and the Mark Furman tapes… Using OJ as an example of somebody who was acquitted who shouldn’t have been is not a good argument
Using OJ as an example for every time someone is acquitted who shouldn't have been is not a very good argument. Not every situation is the same. A lot of factors were going on at the time with race relations in L.A. and the LAPD, and the Rodney King beating a couple years prior. All of that came into play with OJ's acquittal. Spacey's trials provided proof and details that showed nothing he did was criminal. People should research the outcomes of the trials or any trial for that matter if that's going to be their only argument.

This guy seems calculated. I dont like the inauthentic way he responds to Lex's questions. You don't have to be physically violent to be aggressive. You can dominate someone, and even destroy someone, with words. He's not taking accountability, because he's denying he knew his behaviour was ever problematic. I feel pretty confident he knew he was crossing a line, and crossed it anyway. Sure he was in the business of people "flirting", but he was also in the business of people getting away with far worse.
I'm pretty sure he said multiple times in this interview and his others with the telegraph and Dan Wootton that he knows he was pushy at times and did take accountability for things he's done. And he's reached out to people he's hurt and working to make amends and build relationships with hem. He's just not going to apologize or be regretful for things he didn't do, which he shouldn't.
@@ajhornes I don't know what he did or didn't do, he hasn't been specific about either. I just looked up some of the allegations made against him and the first was involving trying to have sexual relations with a 14 year old boy when he was 26. He apologized for "inappropriate drunken behavior". Throwing the "drunken" in there is completely avoiding accountability. And no 14 year old should have sexual advances made by someone in their 20s. This interview with Lex does not convince me of his innocence or naiveté. He seems cold and calculated and doing all he can to salvage his reputation.
I think the worst habit that some of society has adopted recently is using a person’s apology to further condemn them. Would anyone really be surprised if the story is as it seems? Spacey committed no crime, was wrongly accused, but was a bit of an ass and felt bad about it. If that is true, this is exactly what it looks like. Apologizing publicly always seems to always make it worse for these people, but Spacey did it anyway. Because it’s the right thing to do. Most people lead dirty sexual lives and get amazed at an actor. I think Lex kept it proper and went off the typical path of attacking the man. If he is lying, only his conscious will know. I've seen so many talented people attacked by non talented and greedy wannabes.
This man is one of the best actors of his time. I'm not convinced with this performance. I know his level of narcissism. The revelation about his dad does kind of explain a lot but his narcissism is probably genetic. It's not nature or nurture it's both. If he had a normal loving father his inborn narcissism would not have grown into a problem possibly. Having said that I think the industry and public may've punished him a bit too hard because of a me-too wave. What he did doesn't sound near the level of Harvey Weinstein, and we all know this has been common knowledge for as long as Hollywood has existed. Only in a silly hyperpolitical environment now does it suddenly become an atrocity and everyone acts surprised. We also all know there were many willing participants who had no problem trading sex for career advancement. They are not victims they were a part of this and are not innocent. I am not talking about people who felt pressured and broke. I'm talking about people hoping that's all they'd need to do to get a part.
I agree with you. But I do believe him though. I think a lot of men made a choice and later regretted it. They were willing to do things for the possibility of having a greater career. When that didn’t happen they came out one by one. I don’t think he forced anyone I believe he did shoot his shot but no is no. I’m sorry but if he came on to me and I’m not 🌈 then I pushing him off. But they wanted a career more then morals
@@Harlem1mentality Yea. I mean at the high level this shouldn't have happened to him. It's scary you could be destroyed to this level because of what he did. It's disproportionate. I agree. Apologies should be made privately. You don't need cameras. "I hear you, i apologize." Idk why the algorithm won't show me your interviews as much anymore Lex but keep going, we're watching.
They are scared to explicitly say no in fear of retribution. Ure in a position of power from your stardom so they want to be in your good graces. You need to be responsible in that position. Typical lawyers using legal jargon to acquit but the behaviour is at minimum a form of harassment and intimidation and it’s not a gray area. When you can afford a multi million dollar legal team they go through every aspect of the law to acquit almost any crime
I wouldn't apologize. I'm sick of the media burying people and the public just accepting it and assuming they know anything. This sparked with Kramer... I even forgot the actors name, but he was crushed and for one clearly defensive (not racist) rant.
Hey Lex, you are excellent at this and have such wonderful and interesting guests and topics. Could I kindly offer a suggestion: ask your question. Then let guest answer. No need to explain the question and or what you know already. I think momentum would be better for your guests
Wow, it is amazing how so many people in the comments want to see this guy being eliminated. He could have been a little bit more specific with what crossing the line means but he was aquitted in court in there same to be no rape accusations pending. It seems very obvious that he must have been a dick, someone who would make unwanted advances and push to hard. He admits it. An d he might still be a dick, an unpleasant person, but that is not even the matter. And unwanted advances happen all the time. People try to be with other people who dont want to be with them. Being pushy and crossing boundaries is not good, but he accepts that and I am certain that he will have changed his behaviour. Only a true sociopath would go on with his old ways, after having to face the ugly truth about himself. Furthermore being pushy is a greay area, that is not necessary a legal matter. The allegations should be a bit tougher than that. If it is a moral matter than a person must be allowed to change. And he is clearly a charismatic person, an actor through and through, whose whole persona is stylised to a certain degree, which might come of as fake to people. Its a public persona. It's the result of being in the showbuiss. Expecting someone to be authentic in the public arena is just naive. Why some pseudo psychologists and pseudo body language experts can clearly sense that he (still) is a predator is beyond me. Furthermore it is about if he used to be a predator in case one could call him that. He states that he is not crossing boundaries anymore and he learned from his mistakes. Is there any way for this guy to make amends for his past behaviour. The nastiness of a lot of people here is just ovious, wanting this guys social death. And that is what it is. But it seems to be the american way which is so used to punish people without any chance of social rehabilitation.
I dont care about Spacey enough. Hes done well in some good movies. Cool. But in relation to the hate he gets, I think its much more based on the initial accusations and his responses, nothing to do with evidence or possibility that people can change. People made up their opinions of him a long time ago and do not want to have to back peddle in any shape or form. Superfluous internet pride.
@@Tom-dv6ei That is just not the point. It is not ok judging someone to be a predator by the way they act on podcast. To call someone a sexual predator is a tough claim. It makes the person a persona non grata. For the person it jsut something they say because they feel like it and for aother person it affects his lifelyhood. Kevin Spacey is truly a world-class actor. Even here, where he was gifted the opportunity of a lifetime to speak the truth, he lives up to his legend. An actor on the big screen, an actor on the podcast.
A judge has ruled that Kevin Spacey and his production companies must pay the makers of ‘House of Cards’ nearly $31 million (approx. €30 million) because of losses brought on by his 2017 firing for the sexual harassment of crew members.
Take into account, the fact he's very wealthy makes it about 100x more likely he'll be accused and sued for damages. Also Hollywood is a place with massive power plays and struggles. This translates into people's personal lives. Plenty not wealthy people have been quite naughty and done some harmful things, but will never hear of it again because they have no money to pay out.
A case where you are such a good actor and play such horrible characters, people literally cannot separate them from the real Spacey. But also, being Frank Underwood and literally living a life flying on private jets with the Clintons and Epstein REALLY doesn't help your case, or help people separate your authentic self from your characters. Especially with House of Cards. Its such a tricky one because he is so incredible at his craft, it is almost impossible to know if he is being genuine or not.
What will forever bother me about this is the prejudice and bias. If Leonardo Dicaprio set his hand on the knee of an 18 year old girl no one would care and it wouldn't be newsworthy. But Kevin Spacey puts his hand on the knee of an 18 year old boy and everyone loses their minds and he goes to court. What he did was wrong, but the reaction wasn't proportional to the crimes. Rapp said Spacey made him feel uncomfortable but also admitted in court that nothing happened. So if nothing happened then why are we still talking about it?
We the public can never know except from actual proven facts. This is why in politics the test used to be "the appearance of wrongdoing". Somehow we have forgotten about "the appearance of wrongdoing" ... and this has only benefitted the rich and powerful. I think it's fair to say that they rich and powerful have found many ways to push society and the law to the point where only a really horrible person can be held accountable or punished. Large prominent companies used to do background checks on people and not hire them if they had dubious things in their past. Used to be a DUI would get you thrown off the hire pile, and certainly something like this would - because for the public there is not way to tell what the truth is, so we used to err on the side of safety. Now half our government are criminal types who if their actions are questions they just flip the world off and hide behind the walls of their compounds. We have a sick toxic world. I think the only way to fix this is to make sure no one ever gets too rich or too powerful. Personally, I do not want to see Spacey back in the movies or anything again. I think he has proven that if he is not a criminal he has a low character and should not in any way be a role model or rewarded for that. The law and punishment or censure by the society needs to be in place to provide and incentive for people to control their base instincts.
The idea that you can be acquitted on criminal charges, found not liable in a civil trial, and still be considered guilty by so many people who know nothing at all is a big idea, no?
I assumed, when he was accused, sued, and criminally charged that he was guilty. When he won the suit and was not found guilty in the criminal case, I was no longer sure. In the Me-Too environment where an accusation is taken as guilt and the courts usually fall in line to render that verdict, the fact that he won both cases is almost proof in itself that he was not guilty. I sense no duplicity in this interview. On the heels of us all throwing Jim Carey under the bus when he was accused of give an STD to his girlfriend and then it coming out that she lied, maybe we should go back to “innocent-until-proven-guilty”.
Love all the comments ITT that amount to "He was found not guilty - so we're going to carry on pretending he is anyway, even if he *was* found not guilty several times"
As much as I love Lex for his empathy and curiosity for other people , i wish he pushed a little more during controversial topics like this . I think sometimes a little pressure goes a long way more than being gentle in a conversation . Kinda disappointed
I know he was acquitted. But man. This guy just gives off a predatory vibe. That House of Cards style response video certainly didn't help with his image.
If you would judge his guilt based on a public response video that was most likely produced as a result of his frustration over these allegations, you'd be making a mistake. Sure, it's easy for us to see how that video looks, but we aren't being judged and found guilty by 300 million other Americans on a daily basis without any real proof. Many people instinctively have a desire to fight and push back against baseless allegations that degrade their character, and the emotions a person would be experiencing in that situation would certainly cloud judgment. I am not here to defend the guy, but I can totally see how cynicism would lead a person like him to make that video.

Beyond insane how people claim to value evidence for themselves but not other people. Love the celebrity. Also, "minor" is irrelevant. What matters is if werent under 14 and consented. Simple..
A judge has ruled that Kevin Spacey and his production companies must pay the makers of ‘House of Cards’ nearly $31 million (approx. €30 million) because of losses brought on by his 2017 firing for the sexual harassment of crew members.
This interview seemed unusually softball for Lex.
Clearly, I don’t know the truth. But this didn’t ring true in my opinion.
Kevin Spacey is truly a world-class actor. Even here, where he was gifted the opportunity of a lifetime to speak the truth, he lives up to his legend. An actor on the big screen, an actor on the podcast.

Frank Underwood was never an act.
Lex, interview, don’t interrogate! People feel powerful when they interact with others who are struggling in life.
Spacey has always been over-rated. I always feel like he is acting, including in this interview.
The clip everyone’s been waiting for from this episode
He was never canceled in my house! I believe in innocent until proven guilty. And I believe Kevin.
He swallowed deeply when sayin that's correct on the 1st question about never done anything to stop someone from leaving ..
I didn't do these things and I'm never doing them again...
Lex's calification of Kevin's post is ridiculous. It surprises me that Kevin does not push back on that more
Can you not see his kind soul?!
Kevin Spacey is lucky he is not in jail right now. I believe Anthony Rapp.
I know a contractor in Missouri that’s scared to come out and support Kevin spacey. I’m not scared I just don’t care
Not a bad interview, but I’m confused why Lex is interviewing this guy. Seems out of character for more of a tech and big ideas podcast.
It was probably initiated by Spacey himself.
The idea that you can be acquitted on criminal charges, found not liable in a civil trial, and still be considered guilty by so many people who know nothing at all is a big idea, no?
Thus was such a weird interview
Im not convinced he is a good actor after seeing his alleged regret for his deviant lifestyle.
As much as I love Lex for his empathy and curiosity for other people , i wish he pushed a little more during controversial topics like this . I think sometimes a little pressure goes a long way more than being gentle in a conversation . Kinda disappointed
Ah yes, the “I’m just a romantic” defence
Ya he’s so sorry he made multiple Christmas videos threatening people. Get the F outta here Kevo
So glad that there is due process, and no criminal judgments based on sympathy or "vibes".
i know strangers on the internet will not believe me, but he has been that type for decades now
@@thomasreich951dude he is so creepy. “I did a lot of horsing around I did a lot of things I thought at the time were playful and fun”
HUH!??! Dude that’s creepy as shit what the fuck
No he doesn't, it's all in your head.. you dont know shit
If I can enjoy Michael Jackson’s music then I can still enjoy Kevin’s movies. 🤷🏽♂️
In my experience it's difficult to separate the art from the artist such as Woody Allan. I just care less about dealing with that energy for my entertainment time.
People still watch Toy Story after the creater John Lasseter got canceled and let go of Pixar.
Why is this cringe
Why am I cringing at this?
Probably use sensing the complete inauthenticness of it; natural human response.
The ego on this man haha
Really sad the see Lex letting guests dictate where the conversation is allowed to go
They didn't even talk about his ties with Epstein. I mean are you serious, how the fuck did he not ask about that.
Because you're young and immature
@@bruisersdilemma354 thanks for the compliment
...because you're feeling cringe
@@whatwhat9519 i am now
A friend in the music business once interrupted Kevin Spacey in a private booth at a club in London (to give him free tickets) who was noodling with a very young teenager back in 2005.
Ya know, back when the accusations were flying it was all everyone was talking about for a few weeks. And then it was media silence. I don't really follow entertainment news so it's not the kind of thing I would normally follow. With the lack of media coverage, I just assumed deals were reached and settlements were made and I would probably never see Kevin Spacey in a big Hollywood production.
Good for you for providing some positive publicity and helping provide a little justice for him.
Kevin Spacey did nothing wrong beyond attempting involvement with a gold digger
Does anybody remember the “Let me be Frank” video after the allegations? Only an evil bastard would do that.
Yeah…that was something else. Still kinda haunts me and haven’t seen it in years
I’m so glad people are realizing that this guy is creepy. As if his response to accusations that he attempted to sa a 14 year old boy being “I was drinking a lot then” and “actually I’m gay so let’s focus on that and not the allegations” shouldn’t have been enough.
Not really I don’t really know if he did it or not. I do think that people wanted something from him and he gave them the tip and not the one with a financial backing
When a demon is exposed you can't ignore it. He may not be guilty of things he's been accused but...damn can he act . Hire this psychopath immediately!
He was friends with epstein
He comes across as a sociopath.
Why doesn’t he just say he’ll never have a work relationship again? That would fix all these issues.
Kevin, I think we can forgive you now. That doesn’t mean we’ll ever be able to watch saving private Ryan again. But this is a step in the right direction
