I was able to add the "Military Airport" (Professional) to my cart, and the final price was still Zero USD. It even said that a discount of "27,960 USD" was applied
For some reason the website says there's a -0% discount on all these assets but show up as 0$ in the cart. The airport and outliner assets are also under the professional license
now the forest animals and the military airport are fixed. instead of a 100% discount, it just says "free". But the hyper outliner still is bugged with -0% discount.
I@m not seeing anything about the professional vs personal tier -- all I'm getting is "standard license", and that's ... well meaningless. How can a license be "standard" but in two versions?!?
I should add... I noticed on the video that Mike had to select professional vs personal in a drop down list which changed the price. Because these are free giveaways, there is no price to choose, so the drop-down doesn't appear. To me, this suggests that both ties are free for the fortnight, so you would automatically get the more valuable one, but if one of the assets doesn't have a procrastinating tier available and they're only giving the personal tier, then they're messing up people's asset libraries by not telling them what their license actually is, because they might not realise what they're going to get sued for doing with it....

Probably noteworthy, two of the three packs (not the animals one) have the professional license as "0% off", too, so you can get the non-personal versions for free, if you pick the right one.
For the Outliner and Military Airport both the personal and pro versions are discounted 100%, so the licence issue is not really an problem. Of course the animal pack is only personal.
Not a fan of FAB. Now we have to be careful of what asset level we purchase. I will be filtering out anything that has personal license. I don't get why you would bother.
Another thing I was worried about was if they were going to have the ON SALE part of Fab Ready to go for Black Friday. Because I have an eye on quite a few assets and that would be a difference of over 500$. And yes looks like they are getting the finishing touches ready. Some assets are on sale, at 0% Sale but that's probably a but to be fixed soon.

Would like to note that whilst the free section does not appear you can search the assets and add them to cart and you will get the discount applied making them free. Another thing is you can actually receive the professional licenses for free. (Not sure if intended)
To answer your question, Mike - both Personal and Professional versions are free. When I clicked the Purchase button it gave me a choice of Personal ($9.99 slashed down to $0.00) or Professional ($29.99 slashed down to $0.00). For the Wabbit Asset it didn't give me a choice because there was only one license type.
I think the new pricing system is good. If i made a 100k a year or whatever the requirement is, i wouldn't mind paying 199 for some assets. But for us "we just like to play with a creation tool" kind of people this free stuff and cheap stuff is nice right.
I don't have a free for this month, I have limited-time free until date, but the 3 items in it have 0% discount ; which is really weird because it says it ends on the 19th
Apparently you can add to cart and they go to zero. Looks like the site is having a few kinks, you can probably just wait a few hours and it will be fine.
I think that the airport was in the July 4th Bundle, as that was the one game dev bundle I intentionally skipped, I recently missed the animation one, kicking myself over that, but who knows it may come around again, or I'll just have to snipe the one asset that I wanted to get initially.
Today these free assets are showing up as Standard License. The Standard License avoids all of the ambiguity around size of your team/company/project and just makes it usable as long as you don't redistribute. (And for relevant assets, decompile/reverse engineer.) I think this would be a sensible way to license free products moving forward. Hopefully they've figured that out.
They are delaying everyone from getting all assets into personal storage spaces. It's having errors and only got fixed 3 days later after I created the fab account. Some assets are also forcibly removed by being unable to be downloaded/processed importing even with my gigabit download speed.
So I decided to mess around with this, and apparently when you get it, there's no way to actually view what license you have for each asset either. Which is a bit of an issue, given that I have no way of making sure I'm compliant with the licenses after getting it. The *best* you can do is to go look at your transactions/receipts, but it doesn't mention the license there either...
Managed to get it. Nice that they keeping it, and unfortunate about the licencing. That said, Fab's user experience is still much behind the old store. And I lost my favorites as well. :(
FAB should include small and large companies revenues on every assets, 3d models, etc. so, developers, designers, etc. can see their royalty licenses. Making sure that no one re-uploads same old 3d models OR using AI to generate model and driving video game price inflations and scamming developers or game publishers. FAB should not hide revenue for any reasons. This helps companies to track revenue losses on competitions.
Sorry you're incorrect. Personal and Professional isn't the one you think as license. Instead these all are standard license: "Who owns What" - You own the rights.
If you choose to buy the professional license on any of those 3 items you can buy it for $0, go back and select the professional license and then just add to cart for free purchase.
I only see Standard License. I do not see where it says personal or professional. Can someone point me to where I can see the license terms for the giveaway?
well so it's now 6 assets a month. I call it a win. Also, looking forward to seeing Mike saying "free free assets" (three free assets) every two weeks 😂
I didn't see the Free for the Month section, so I found each one manually. Added to cart, captcha failed. Many, many times. Went to work, came home and tried again. More failures - all firefox. Tried Chrome. Failed. I infected my computer with Microsoft Edge, and that also failed. Checked payment information, all up-to-date. Then discovered when I went to sign in on my phone that all three were already in my library as new purchases. Hyper Outliner: Professional Miliary Airport: Professional Animal pack: Personal If you see a failure, check your library. Success may have been under-reported. Or missed entirely...
I know it's not topical to the video here, but could you cover the recent Unity 6 controversy with Garry Newman? They want him to pay an additional $500000 per year and sign an NDA too since he updated rust to Unity 6, even though he already pays like $300000 per year
They're all under a standard license, but - is this useless or not? I mean, standard license can come under a personal tier or a professional tier, and as far as I can see, it doesn't say which tier these are, it just says "Standard License". Also - would this license allow me to modify the files? I mean, there are things about the models that I would like to change before I use. Would this be allowed? So many questions, I may not use them at all until they better define the terms. Thank you for the content.
someone wrote this in a reddit discussion: "There is no separate license tier. There is only one fab standard license, but two tiers of prices. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense but their idea is that large companies should pay more than startups, but both receive the same asset permissions." so, if this guy is right, i don't understand all this discussion around knowing which "license" will the free for the month assets will get, because there's only the standard license, what only seems to change is the price you pay for the item, but if it's free for the month, i guess you don't have to worry about that, but i'm not sure...
Everything this week has the option to get a professional license. Make sure you select it when you purchase each one because it defaults to a personal license.
Yayyy. Now we can use them in other... engines.... Wait. We could already do that. So making the licensing more complicated and more restrictive is STRICTLY BAD. I feel stupid calling Epic out, considering how awesome they have been to give us what they have over the years, but this sucks for us.
The biggest problem is the "Free for the Month" section of FAB is gone, so discovering these free assets is next to impossible. Without knowing what assets are being offered you'll have no idea. FAB continues to be a disaster of a system.
If you are in an environment that is generating $100k+ of revenue, and I know that even on big teams budgets can be tight, however, I'm not super concerned they have to pay for the licenses.
if you have a personal licence and happen to make more than $100k, then you need to purchase the pro licence. so opt for pro each time (it's free all the same, so why hesitate?)
Guys. I've noticed that all the assets I've previously purchased including those from Humble Bundle they are all under Standard license and not the Professional one right now while those never had any restriction previously and buying those from Humble Bundle there was no such thing as we are buying limited license assets. That is a BS we have to do something about. Don't we?
@@zinetx I went through the Fab End User License Agreement and it is not really helpful. It is clear about those Personal and Pro licenses but I'm quite lost in that Standard license description. What are those: Standard License under a Personal - Reference Only tier and Standard License under a Personal or Professional tier? I mean They call every single license a Standard License by default so it is just makes no sense and there is no proper description for Standard license as it is. (d. Content Formats. When you receive a Standard License, the license you are granted may allow you to access the Content as a source asset, as a reference asset, or as both a source asset and a reference asset. The formats in which you are permitted to access the Content depends on which license and License Tier you are granted: i. Standard License under a Personal - Reference Only tier: you may access the Content as a reference asset only ii. Standard License under a Personal or Professional tier: you may access the Content as both a source asset and a reference asset, subject to their availability described on the product page.)
So getting the free "Pro license" basically covers the personal tier as well, right? What I'm asking is, just because you got the pro, doesn't mean you now HAVE to make over $100k, right?
UE is working on Trade Secret, License, and developing some sort of encyrption shit. I'm trying to understand UE cryptic or subliminal messages --- military airport, hyper outline system, and forrest animal pack.
Under the standard license you can't use it for commercial projects, even if you heavily modify it right? (like changing it to low poly, changing texture and changing or replacing the animation?)
You can use anything for any commercial projects, professional license only means you pay more when you purchase it. They just chose the worst possible naming convention and everyone is confused.
"Rabbits are among the cuttest animals on earth" --- aaaaaaaaaaaaand liked. Can't wait to have rabbits again - the plan is to have a big enclosure in the house so that I can sit in the middle and they jump around me. Guess I now have to get that package xD ... and now back to gamedev 😛
The free personal license is such a burden as imagine the day you think you are over $100k over the past 12 months and going back over all your assets to figure out which licenses you need to update.
Well, even if this doesn't end up being quite as good as the Unreal giveaway used to be, there's a nice lady on your channel in her underpants that told me I'll be lasting longer in bed if I download these. So a win either way.
Oh interesting, it looks like I "already own" these items. There was no section for them. I had to manually search each of them... But all of them said I already owned them. So, maybe it just gets added to your account monthly, you don't have to "buy/purchase" them anymore? It's just automagic? Edit: Except Hyper Outliner. That I did not own, and said it was 0% off like other people in the comments.
why would they change it to Fab it was perfect the way it was marketplace was wayyy better now you got to import from files and stuff it was so much easier it sucks now

Just put the cursor into the search bar, hit return and then select "On sale" from the menu on the right.
Lucky! Unity is there!
What day is two weeks after Tuesday? xD
Yayyy. Now we can use them in other... engines.... Wait. We could already do that. So making the licensing more complicated and more restrictive is STRICTLY BAD.
I feel stupid calling Epic out, considering how awesome they have been to give us what they have over the years, but this sucks for us.
Oh great. Its on a 2 week schedule, that means I have missed these assets.
The biggest problem is the "Free for the Month" section of FAB is gone, so discovering these free assets is next to impossible. Without knowing what assets are being offered you'll have no idea. FAB continues to be a disaster of a system.
the free free or the 3 3 ?
So now you can make a post-humanity game about throwing a literal stag party on an old airbase
Does anyone know where to see the license type on owned assets?
Seems like you can choose between personal and Professional but you can only choose one.
either way it's free.
U R EPIC !
The Pro versions of the other two are free.
The 0% discount for free is really confusing though.
I only get the usual 404 error when I try to view Fab.
Who doesn't have the giveaway displayed in the search, select "on sale" and they will appear
They have given away these same assets once every 6 months to a year
If you are in an environment that is generating $100k+ of revenue, and I know that even on big teams budgets can be tight, however, I'm not super concerned they have to pay for the licenses.
What happens if you just happen make more than $100k, also if they give both personal and pro, is it better to opt for pro every time?
if you have a personal licence and happen to make more than $100k, then you need to purchase the pro licence. so opt for pro each time (it's free all the same, so why hesitate?)
And I fucked up. I get an error when trying to add an item to the library.
Guys. I've noticed that all the assets I've previously purchased including those from Humble Bundle they are all under Standard license and not the Professional one right now while those never had any restriction previously and buying those from Humble Bundle there was no such thing as we are buying limited license assets. That is a BS we have to do something about. Don't we?
Standard differs from personal.
Standard doesn't have a funding/revenue threshold.
The formats in which you are permitted to access the Content depends on which license and License Tier you are granted:
i. Standard License under a Personal - Reference Only tier: you may access the Content as a reference asset only
ii. Standard License under a Personal or Professional tier: you may access the Content as both a source asset and a reference asset, subject to their availability described on the product page.)
So getting the free "Pro license" basically covers the personal tier as well, right? What I'm asking is, just because you got the pro, doesn't mean you now HAVE to make over $100k, right?
yes. the licences have different "maximum funding" but the minimum is still 0 in both cases.
@@lpnp9477 thanks, yea I just took a second look and it just mentions "personal" use, nothing about commercial or non-commercial. Interesting phrasing
It is actually *Professional License*
They all said "Standard License" for me, no Personal or Professional
I just want my wishlist back.
Even when you boar us
We bear with you
As you are deer to our heart
If Anyone is wondering, the 2 "unsure" assets, have free professional licenses.
I wanna my favorite folder back!!!!
They were professional for everything but the animal pack.
The free personal license is such a burden as imagine the day you think you are over $100k over the past 12 months and going back over all your assets to figure out which licenses you need to update.
I just want to say that 100K in revenue OR FUNDING it is still very very indie.
"Cutest animals on Earth".... so like most people you really don't much about rabbits. Got it.
Challenge captcha does not work is not a Giveaway.
They are giving away assets every two weeks. A fortnightly giveaway.
hope FAB give away the best free monthly asset....
I saw Paradise... open world simulator... looks incredible... GTA 6....
Well, even if this doesn't end up being quite as good as the Unreal giveaway used to be, there's a nice lady on your channel in her underpants that told me I'll be lasting longer in bed if I download these. So a win either way.
You need to filter to "On Sale"
Oh interesting, it looks like I "already own" these items. There was no section for them. I had to manually search each of them... But all of them said I already owned them. So, maybe it just gets added to your account monthly, you don't have to "buy/purchase" them anymore? It's just automagic?
Edit: Except Hyper Outliner. That I did not own, and said it was 0% off like other people in the comments.
no, I had to "buy" them. so you might have got them earlier? or another bug on fab?
@@minirop Unlikely but it's possible 🤷
epic make assets available for Unity? Big respect. Maybe we can stop fighting them.
That's cool that's cool
why would they change it to Fab it was perfect the way it was marketplace was wayyy better now you got to import from files and stuff it was so much easier it sucks now
Assets free this fortnight. I think I see what they did there.
They all show - on sale 0% discount => full price
