He didn't "become a fascist dictator." He invented Fascism.
Fascism was "invented" long time before him.
@@gregorywilson4231 You, and almost everybody assume that any dictatorial or totalitarian system is "Fascist." Mussolini and Giovanni Gentile presented fascism as an economic theory. It is not alt-right. It is a social theory where the rights of the individual are subordinated to those of the State. They write: Liberalism denied the State in the name of the individual. Fascism reasserts the rights of the State as expressing the real essence of the individual. They invented it. It is not necessarily totalitarian.
"Fascism reasserts the rights of the State as expressing the real essence of the individual" ------ this is exact definition of the TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM.
States NEVER can express THE REAL essence of the individual. Don't be confuse by different names of the TOTALITARIANISM. Those names are : "SOCIALISM, COMMUNISM, MARXISM. FASCISM. There are ONLY TWO systems exists: FREE SOCIETY & TOTALITARIANISM. "Free Society has a CAPITALISM as an economical embodiment of the free society. (somebody is trying to fundamentally change it, by the way) Free society always put INDIVIDUALISM at the TOP. So, whenever you hear (or read) that the "STATE expresses individual needs the best" is a LIE. Entire history of the humanity shows that "Totalitarianism" has a centralized POLITICAL AND ECONOMICAL structure, which never been pleasant for population and always has been great for lying RULERS. @@deepcosmiclove
Mussolini actually worked for British intelligence service in 1917, they paid him 100 pounds per week (around 10k today) to write pro-British and warmongering propaganda in WW1. Once an agent, always an agent.
British involvement in his death is also quite interesting, I guess he knew too much...
@gregorywilson4231 Fascism gets its name from the fasces (tied bundles of rods topped by an ax blade]) that were carried before the Emperors of Rome as a symbol of their authority. And today, there are two 6' tall bronze fasces flanking the rostrum in the U.S. House of Representatives in our own Rome II. In addition, the Mace of the House is paraded around the chamber before every session begins; that mace is a modern version of the aquila standard that Roman legions carried into battle and just like that ancient counterpart, the Mace of the House is also topped by an Eagle with outstretched wings! The mace is the ultimate symbol of power in the House of Representatives, since if a member of Congress refuses to follow rules of conduct, under the order of the Speaker the Sergeant at Arms will carry that mace and carry it before the offending member. And if they don't shut up, they will be physically expelled from the chamber. Rarely used, the last time the mace was presented thus was before Rep. Maxine Waters, who at least on that singular occasion did shut her mouth.
Actually, Mussolini didn’t have Jews deported. That happened in Italy after the German occupation in 1943. I’m no defender of Mussolini, but facts are facts.
Technically yes. One could argue he allowed it to happen. Another could argue he didn't have any choice by 1943 but to comply with German wishes. Either way I doubt he was that upset by it, but I don't know that for certain.
You are right. Mussolini was trying to save Italy by playing with Hitler. He was no fool. He separated the Catholic church from Italy due to its crimes. Even today, many people praise Mussolini. Those that murdered him were the same Khasarians sect, and after his death, Hitler raided Italy. Mussolini was the brother to General Patton
Don't be stupid. Of course he was complicit in the deportation of the Jews. Facts are facts.

after Mussolini was ousted from power, Italy sided with the allies. their German counterparts were however not happy and responded with great force. Many Italian civilians were massacred.
Italy fought against the Allies until April 1945.
It didn't take long for the first of several botched facts. He didn't "rule the country from1925 to 1945." He took power in 1922 and was deposed in 1943.
Grunge is famous for getting their facts wrong.
My uncle took a picture of Mussolini, his supposed right hand man, and mistress hanging upside down by their feet after their execution. He had laminated it between two pieces of airplane glass. He was to leave it to me after his death, however when I inquired, it was missing. He had told me that the Italians did not want Mussolini captured by the Americans, because of what he may reveal during an interrogation. They scoured the mountains and routed him out of a cave and executed him before ally’s could interrogate him. He and the other two where hung upside down by their feet in a show of Italian disgrace. I would liked to have donated this picture to a WWII museum.
What things Mussolini could reveal that the Allies wouldn't have found out by themselves & using other methods? I'm genuinely curious... I think he was a spent force by that point, a mere shadow of his former self and a puppet that holds no real power anymore. So what could he tell them?
@@therealmuthaphukkin.g That there were others who where equally guilty and identify them. They changed sides and found, and executed him before he could implicate them. This was the thoughts of American GI’s in Italy at that time.
My grandfather was there when they hung the bodies but refused to go and watch the spectacle. Said he had seen enough killing. He further said the American soldiers pinned Petacci's dress up to keep her undergarments from being exposed as she hung upside down.
Not sure Italian who still fascist thinking still wants to follow him or not?

This was very detailed and informative in such a brief time. Good job. I’ve been looking all over UA-cam about what exactly happened to Mossolini during his last days and how he tried to escape. This told me that - and so much more!
Mussolini actually wanted to be on the side of the Allies during the war but Churchill wouldn't hear of it. In the end he had to decide between joining the Germans or getting rolled over by them. As it turns out, both of those things happened. This is all in Mrs. Mussolini's book.

It is definitely 👍 true that Churchill and the British were absolutely 💯 👌 adversaries of IL DUCE and Italy 🇮🇹; the British were extremely and fanatically obsessed with their lousy empire!!
Regardless of which side he wanted to join, he was a ruthless, fascist dictator which is why Churchill wanted nothing to do with him.

Debs husband says I once read where an American GI said that the Italian troops didn't really have their heart into fighting and that the Italians are basically good people. On the other hand he said that the German troops were hot mustard.
The Italians couldn't fight for shit--bunch of mandolin players, basically. They fought like garbage in Ethiopia (their losses against literal tribesmen using 19th century rifles were lol), they fought like garbage in North Africa, and they CERTAINLY fought like garbage in Italy. That turned out to be a virtue, in the end.
Before German occupation Jews were welcome and taken care of in Italy. 1/3 of the Jews in Italy joined the fascist party before the other parties dissolved. One of his primary mistresses was Jewish by ethnicity and religion. There were also no antisemitic laws in place until 1938 when Mussolini implemented them as a strategic move to get on hitlers good side.

A lot of Italians still love him because he tried to make a nation, and a strong one. What the Italian partisans didn’t like is that he got killed a lot of soldiers trying to take land, which he could not do alone. That usually happens when fail at the one thing you tried to do and Italians were there much pissed. After they cooled down they realized that this man tried his hardest to rebuild Rome, yes he failed but he tried to help the people by getting rid of the mafia and getting more farmland, more money for the state and a bigger navy, Air Force and army. The Italians were also pissed because they switch sides to the allies in World War I and were promised land. They did not get. So Benito Mussolini promised to rebuild the Roman Empire. Which ergo taking overland. The Italians knew that he just lost a lot of soldiers in the process of taking over no land. A lot of Italians still liked him.

He was Prime Minister of Italy from the March on Rome in 1922 until his deposition in 1943, as well as Duce of Italian fascism from the establishment of the Italian Fasces of Combat in 1919 until his summary execution in 1945 by Italian partisans. As dictator of Italy and principal founder of fascism, Mussolini inspired and supported the international spread of fascist movements during the inter-war period.
Cabaret Voltaire made a song about it , called Do the Mussolini !!
Everyone still talks about Hitler and the Nazi's, but no one mentions Mussolini. Everyone want to pile on the generational guilt to the German people, but nobody says anything to the Italians. Mussolini wanted to be just like Hitler, and even used Hitler's invasion of Poland as inspiration for for an invasion of Greece. The difference was that Mussolini was a fool. Every time Hitler bailed him out with more troops and equipment, Mussolini still failed through arrogance and complacency. The best bit was that at no point did any of the Allies consider him or his troops "dangerous". Mussolini was an opportunist who though he could grab a slice of the cake while the Allies were busy fighting Hitler. He soon found out that he had bitten off more than he could chew.
That's a really good point, totally agree
It’s probably cuz his name wasn’t as big as hitlers
Don't misunderstand that comment as anti-Italian. The point is about generational guilt. I can't understand why some people have generational guilt forced upon them, while others metaphorically look the other way whilst whistling. We give the French crap for surrendering, but look what Mussolini did; he capitulated after trying to screw us all over. He was an awful man, a complete egocentric, and a tactical buffoon. At least Hitler walked the walk after talking the talk. To be clear, I'm not glorifying anyone, I'm saying that Hitler backed up his speeches with clear actions. Mussolini didn't and couldn't.
Mussolini came to power before Hitler. Hitler idolized Mussolini. Plus, Mussolini wasn't genocidal like Hitler. Fascist war atrocities that were completely racist, yes, but not like Hitler's aim to shallow the gene pool. They were both fools.
I wonder about the adults that grew up in the Youth camps. Did they remain fascist? Did they teach it to their children? Usually, kids inherit their parent's political beliefs. Sad thing is, here in the US, there are plenty of people who would love the idea of Trump Youth Camps.
Many countries share in the blame of the nazi crimes. I dont know names of their leaders at the time, but Lithuania and good ol Ukraine had a lot of conspiring with the nazis.
This is nonsense Musolini was hung, how do I know? My Grandfather was one of the first allied soldiers to arrive at the site while he was still warm. He took photographs which he showed me. Can't remember the name of the show this was over 40 years ago and he has passed on.

In Italy we use the expression "Ventennio fascista" that means the 20 years of the fascism, that go from 1923 to 1943, because in 1923 he got the support of the king, but on the 8th September of 1943 he lost it, and was arrested. After that he was just Hitler's puppet, with literally no power.
