Rear air suspensions can have frequent failures. Usually in 30 to 40 thousand miles. Problems with transfer case and front drive shaft is also frequent. These need to be checked before buying.

I went to test drive a BMW X5 4.0D 306BHP 64 REGISTERED WITH 42000 MILES and it was the shit*** car I ever driven I couldn't believe the way it drove and the creeks in the interior the seats moving the ride quality was in unbelievably crap the steering feel was absolute zilch the seat bolster when I was adjusting it felt/sounded like cardboard crunching and the brake feel was zilch and stuttered and the power delivery was not linear I was furious thinking what are all the reviewers test driving I mean we paying £26,000 plus for these cars just appalling tomorrow I will go test drive another X5 just to see 8f that's how the all drive

Hi you are able to check the the whole optional equipment including the suspension type from the VIN number just put the last 7 digits of the VIN number into one of the online BMW VIN decoder sites which you can find thru google
I have a X5 M50D. Worn cardan sharft needs checking every 100.000km. Front to rear distribution gearbox - if that sees up, it will tear the bottom half of the engine. Lifetime on a set of breaks 100.000km (€1.200 all way around disks and pads).

Not only BMW. Its German cars in general that are just money pits. Modern German cars are the worst to buy now in the long term. You better off buying a 20 or 30 year old car from any German maker than they modern version. Quality isn't the same like 20 or 30 years ago. Modern German Cars have a lot of compromises than older cars.

Which is the most reliable out of these 3 SUV's, since reviewing your videos about this car and Touareg II, I have made an impression that Touareg is more reliable, especially air suspension units. I hope there will also be videos about 3rd gen ML/GLE Mercedes and Porsche Cayenne II! ;)
you already got the right answer :D so yes the touareg is the best choice, it has a reliable air suspension and the parts of the suspension-control arms are more durable than in the x5 + it has the best/most reliable 4WD system from these cars as well

@@Bmwguy2011 yes, the 2nd gen touareg or the 1st gen q7 are generally speaking more reliable choices than this X5 F15 the last good straight 6 diesel engine from BMW is the M57 3.0d - in the X5 E70 for example, these engines can reach more than 400 000 km in many cases without major repairs the newer diesel engines from BMW are more sensitive and can develop more serious issues if it lacks the adaptive suspension, then that is an advantage, so you are not gonna end up with a leaking air suspension which is gonna sooner or later occur on the touaregs and Q7s if the car is equipped with it of course the 3.0 tdi V6 engine in the touareg or q7 can have various issues as well, but this depends which version of the engine is in the car and what is the mileage long story short, issues with: injectors, timing chains, high pressure fuel pump-(176kw version and newer) or leaks can occur

Give you a more planted and grippy drive, the xdrive system is always configuring even in dry situations. I mean rain too I guess 🤷🏻♂️ Up here in NJ every new BMW Audi or Benz on a dealer lot as xDrive, Quattro, 4Matic. It’s very rare to see a RWD luxury German up here unless it’s a performance model.
The BMW is a little bit better handling car then the Audi Q7 my sister has a Q7 I have the X5 3.0 the X5 handle and break a lot better than her Audi and her Audi is newer those European car do have plenty of oil leaks such as valve cover gasket also the oil separator apart from that keep the Beamer maintain and you'll have a good car

The N63TUBB4-M3 4.4L V8 was introduced in X5’s in 2018. This “TU3” update of the N63 has updated valve guides and thus will not burn oil.
