The Most Unique Drum Machine I've Ever Used // SOMA Pulsar 23 with OXI One and Elektron Syntakt
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 гру 2022
- This video is an overview of the Pulsar 23 Organismic Drum Machine from SOMA. I'll show you how to sequence internally, use the loopers, use external sequencers to sequence via MIDI and CV/Gate, and how this machine can be used alone or with others like the OXI One sequencer and the Elektron Syntakt. I will also let you know who this would be a good fit for, and who it wouldn't.

Years ago I thought DAWs were the Eldorado! Changing parameters on screen with your mouse, that's the way to do music! I was so, so wrong! It's the hands-on experience that still rules! I'm glad there are synth manufacturers who bring these awesome devices that you can play hands-on like any musical instrument!
Nice demo, you actually tamed this bad boy a bit to offer us interesting but not too quirky sounds. Great unique stuff, I love it but my wallet is signing a different tune 😅😅😊
Awesome pitch on the Pulsar 23. Great to see you back on the YT vid space.
Thanks for watching! Great to be back!
Excellent demo!
Thanks!!
By far the most perplexing synth I've used in terms of what I expect from a specific modulation patch/signal flow, to what actually comes out. Slightly frustrating at times, but definitely fun to learn and explore.
Simply fantastic once again !I love Soma devices, i have the Lyra 8. That machine seems soo powerful..keep it up!!
Thank you very much! So glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!!
Excellent work 👍
Thanks for watching!
Funny that even after 2 years on the market, that thing still manages to amaze. I put it on my wishlist when it came out, then kinda withdrew as all this modular wire-mess crazyness overwhelmed me. Now I had been thinking lately of getting a Turing Machine Sequencer to get more stuff "in sync" and after watching your video, I think that all the subdivision syncing of the Pulsar might do the job in a less traditional and more unexpected way than any Turing Sequencer. You actually got me interested in the pulsar again (even though I have no space in my studio for such a big chunk of Russian metal).
It’s a really fun one for sure!!!
Excellent
Ordered the Limited Edition yellow one from Perfect Circuit!
wow an old school techno dream machine. Looks like it would be super fun to use. I love the bottom button that lets you play the drum hit yourself. Amazing machine. I can tell without even checking Im sure its out of my price range compared to how much i would be able to use it for . I will add it to my dream list of sound machines to buy when i have my lottery win fall ..lol.. sick video thank you well done. i enjoyed watching it for sure..Its alive...so sick. i love it.😁
Glad you liked it. It is a fun one for sure. Thanks for watching!
Awesome stuff! This and the Perkons HD-01 would be a fun pile of weekends.
That Omni and/or the Hapax may go on the list for hardware sequencing too.
can’t wait to try the Perkons! thanks for watching!
Oooo I got the green one tooo. Such a great machine
It really is! Thanks for watching!
it looks and sounds pretty badass but it feels way too complex for me and I feel like for me at least it doesn't feel like I can just make a quick patch to jam out. Would love to try it some day but dont think i'll see my self getting one. Great video once again! It's great to see more of your content again!
Keep an eye out for Perkons videos. It's a little more simplistic but still a tone all its own.
Or if you just want to jam with some drums perhap something simpler like a TR-6s or 8s? Or maybe a Model Cycles, Novation Circuit Tracks, etc?
nice
I have an aversion to crocodile clips, already have more than enough wires trailing everywhere so I'll pass on this one. Love your videos btw, good to see you back after a long absence.
It's a unique one for sure. Thanks for watching! Glad to be back.
video, good
Thanks for the visit
Where did you get your knobs? Look to he the same ones as perkons? I grabbed a black pulsar and luckily waited for perkons since now there's a black one! Going to great with the black pulsar!
The knobs are similar but not exactly the same. They will look great together! I'm working on getting a black perkons too. The blue is cool, but black is... black. Thanks for watching!
i think with the perkons it will be together a realy thunder storm .
Hi, i am since forever to change the pots of my pulsar, any ideas where I can get these ones? they are great :)
I heard on another video that this doesnt support midi start/stop commands. Is that true?
Any tips on how I could sequence the bass module in (different pitches) on syntakt
Do you mean sequence the P23 from the Syntakt? It pretty straight forward. Switch the P23 to MIDI mode using the selected switch. Cable Midi out from the Syntakt in to the P23. Set up a track on the Syntakt as a Midi track. The P23 will recognize the signal no matter what channel you are sending on. Sequence like normal. Thanks for watching!
@@SURCOlive thx
if you had to keep only one drum machine.. which one would it be .. syntakt or pulsar ?
Between those two, Syntakt. In general my desert island drum machine is the Analog Rytm.
@@SURCOlive i sold rytm to buy syntakt as i didn't use pads, perf mode, indiv outs that much..but needed those fm sounds !
RAVE
“buttOns”
oh shit.... why have i not checked this out until now? won't say this changes everything but it'll change enough for me to stay busy for a while... just stupid, ridiculous sounds with great presence and muscular character of voice
