Really cool walkthrough, I expected some boring live gig, not a very informative presentation of how everything works together and what does what, I liked that a lot! Only thing I would change: record the synth audio from your Octatrak, not with a room mike. The bassdrum sounded thin without the proper input. 😢
@36:30 or so - you're able to just pull in "this is an echo kill and you can just bring that in" it really shows how the octatrack is working as a performance instrument. Shows how you're able to design "DJ" style movements for the moment during the set. Exactly the kind of thing we all envy you for

Looks like a cool setup. Would love to see or listen to the performance hopefully Analog Kitchen releases it! I have a plaits but the sound quality never grabbed me, I'll have a look into the Viel Ruina to dirty it up a bit. When the G.A.S. strikes you should get some tendrils to clean up that mess of wires, they keep the wires completely out of the way of the controls.
I come from a DJ background, so I have thought about it. They are just too big to transport and I get everything I need from the Octatrack as my mixer. If size was no concern I’d love the DJM V10 as a liveset mixer. :) thanks for watching!

Great video! In your recent discussion with EZBot you talked about how you really like the Syntakt over the Digitakt because you enjoy synthesis over a sample-based flow. I can relate. However, I noticed in several of your live setup videos that you still use the Digitakt extensively. Is there a reason why you haven't incorporated the Syntakt more in your setup? (maybe you have and I missed it). I'm asking because I have both boxes and really like both for different reasons. Rather than choosing one, I'm starting to think about them as one big unit with synthesis, sampling, and MIDI capability. Any thoughts on this topic?
Hey thanks! Yeah I love both of them. I use the DT a lot for speed and ease where I use the Syntakt for depth. I make all my drum samples on the Rytm in studio then resample them to load on the DT for travel since it’s a lot smaller. I don’t use the Syntakt for drums much at all. It’s more of a 12 voice synth for me. I’m starting to use it in an updated setup because of its power. Thanks so much for watching!!

I'm a drummer and bass player and so I immediately connected with it and discovered the Elektron workflow. However, I now find that the DT is more immediate. How often do you record to DAW through your OT? Do you worry about the quality of the A/D converters? I don't mind them, but they do see to flatten things a tad, and then there's the headache of gainstaging.
I don't usually use the OT for production. It is a performance device for me. I love to use overbridge to multitrack audio for production. Thanks for watching!
Is taking all this gear to Amsterdam not an absolute nightmare? I can understand a much larger, established artist doing this, but I’d be really, really nervous about so many things if it were my gear. PS. I love your channel.

So if I understand correctly the analog heat is the last station of your setup and then the output from that goes to the existing sound system from where you perform? I had a first gig and after that I was advised to use a limiter and compressor next time I preform. Is the analog heat a good solution for this advice or do I need to consider something else before it goes to the soundsystem?
That is how my setup runs. There is no limiter or compressor on the Analog Heat. It is a saturator and drive with filter and eq. It depends why they suggested that. The Heat makes things sound more finished and full. A compressor limiter on the end will compress the sound and allow it to be pushed louder. There are other options for that if the original mix is not able to be pushed. The RNC RNLA combo is solid small and not too expensive. The Oto Boum has a compressor as well. I hope this helps. You don't mention it in the video (iinm) but you don't include a regular monosynth. Have you thought about that? Something like an SH101 or minibrute seems like it would fit right in but I've not seen such a thing, not even on your studio videos.
I love my mono synths!, but it is really hard for space when traveling to gigs to have something that has one voice or does one thing. I have smaller ones (Minitaur, SH 01a, Syntakt, TB3, Quadranted Swarm), medium ones (Analog 4, Microbrute, MS 20 mini), and large ones (SH 101, Subsequent 37), but I've tried to get as much variety as possible out of the smallest amount of space possible. The Erica Synths Baseline does a great job as a bass 'mono synth', and the BIA is another that can do really well. The Plaits have mono waveforms as options, and the Polycinimatic has the ability to pair back to just one oscillator. All of these emulate mono synths in this rig. Thanks so much for watching!!
