The worst part is that there is a rumor the BETA as a whole are just just *_mining units, not a true invading army!_* Imagine them how would be to face *_the real warrior caste of the BETA._* No... it's better not even try to imagine that.
That almost sounds like one of the theories from Cthulhutech where humanity is fighting the Migou, an insectoid species that mines worlds for resources. It's been a decade of conflict in the games timeline but others point out the same concept. We are only fighting the miners and laborers of a local part of the Migou swarm. Not even the full might of their empire and it's warriors.
yes it just a miner. just a man made (alien made) artifact life form. however it also the theory that may be it possible ate its creator long time ago and just stray aimless through the universe. which come to another question, how many of them in our universe ?!
It still just absolutely blows my mind that the first Muv-Luv game is a rom-com and Muv-Luv Alternative makes you seek therapy for how brutally they kill characters. The first brutal death serves as a mental flashbang because you were so used to the light hearted tone of the first game. I went into this blind and physically said "holy shit, HOLLLLLLY SHIIIIIIIT"
I agree 100%! but i think your comment kinda delves into hard spoilers, coukd you give a warning or like spam enter to make it not appear on first glance lol. -G
Damn it went the opposite for me, bc im into mechas and that I landed on Muv-Luv alternative first and it was like ohhhh ok this seems kinda brutal but acceptable, then I encounter the games and was like wtf, where's the gore?
My first exposure to the series was the violent one. I watched one episode then forgot about it for a few years. Finally found it again I went "Muv-Luv"? Wtf kind of name is that for a bloody grim dark mecha? Only now I find out it was a sequel to a romcom. Not that surprising, really.
to the 40k mentions, i will be honest the nids and such look rather generic compared to the absolute wierdo designs these aliens here are. (wished the chaos daemons looked this weird)
I'd say no. Zerg adapt immediately, Tryanids adapt within days to hours. Both of them have more massive numbers, more strains, and have less weaknesses.
Beta are super low tier power level when compared to anything from Starcraft or especially 40K, but that's ok because it's supposed to be that way. They're not even a military, they're just mining equipment. They'd get stomped by any faction from 40K, but to modern era humans, they are absolutely an apocalypse level threat.
@@hiramesensei3112 Depends on the faction imho. They could be a problem to the imperial guard (And especially an unprepared PDF) because of their reliance on artillery, but that could be equalized by deploying a mix of Leman Russes like Punishers and Vanquishers (And hoping they have enough ammo to wax all the critters). The Tau would likely laugh them off with railgun and plasma fire because i somehow doubt their shells would be tough enough to withstand Tau railguns.
What I find disturbing about them is not the fangs nor claws, stingers or any predatory aspects of it. It's their Human-Like teeth, and they are all molars. Meaning BETA's don't just bite you, they outright gnash and chomp.
A setting like this needed unstoppable protagonist to balance out all weapons being hopeless. Something like hero as in ace combat ending the war alone
Great video I always loved the BETA. While they use some of the obvious insectoid/Tyranid inspirations that is practically par for the course for an alien invasion threat in pop culture, they do not actually look visually anything like that. Even if you wouldn't know about them, the Tyranids have a kinda familiar insectoid-bordering-reptilian design, i.e. something that reads easily as "Earth life-adjacent". Meanwhile, the BETA don't look like anything. They are truly alien. At best, the only parallel is maybe something you can find in an Hieronymus Bosch painting.
I will not spoil anything just simply talk about design here, but your correct. Although the Tyranids and the beta achieve the same thing in different ways. The beta are unnerving as they do not look natural, and look more like something that a person trying to describe a creature out of a nightmare would look like, something bizarre and not normal. In other words as you said, truly alien. As for the Tyranids, they achieve this same unnerving feeling by having looks and traits of natural predators and including creatures that target primal fears that exists in humans, like our aversion to things having multiple legs like an arachnid or or centipede, not to mention traits from reptiles and even aquatic life. Seemingly normal everyday animals, has their traits taken and used in the most horrific ways, as if your were fighting alien nature itself. Both are unnerving, but do it int their own unique way.
@@bc9402 Also the bases for the design of tyranides comes from a time when things were simpler and you didn't need to be overly original with everything, warhammer 40K is a franchise with more than 30 decades under its belly, so the designs have been updated several times but without losing completely its original vibes, the earliest Warhammer 40K designs comes from about 1987, while Muv luv is from 2006. I don't think that the desing of the BETAs is better just because is more unique, because whoever did the BETA's desings already new about the aracnids from Starship troopers, the Tyranids from Warhammer, the Zergs from Starcraft and other similar examples, so his jobs was easier in a way. However I thing that the Beta really look like something completely alien, I thing only the xenomorfs from Alien have that kind of unnerving but truly alien vibes around them.
Nah they have a bunch of humanoid characteristics lol. Humanoid arms, hands, mouths etc. can be spotted in abundance. It's just all arranged randomly, which makes them look more goofy than alien if you ask me. They look like something some guy whipped up using random figures from a blender animation as opposed to actual alien lifeforms.
@@KevinJohnson-cv2no No one knows how alien life forms would look like or if they will have similar traits to life on earth, for me they look as alien as can be, but in my opinion what doesn't make sense is their sizes, something as big as a Destroyer class shouldn't be able to even move around in Earth's gravity, but I guess that it has a similar explanation that in many other psifi franchises, a miraculous element that makes everything make sense, in Muv luv's case are the G elements which are used by both factions in the war to defy the laws of physics.
The B.E.T.A may not be the most popular sci-fi alien race but they're sure as hell just as cool as their Western counterparts, the Zerg and the Chimera.
One thing you sort of got incorrect is the sequence of which the Laser class show up, the main reason why the BETA are able to overrun a modern military IS the laser class, who are basically the ultimate anti air weapons capable of targetting and destroying even hypersonic missiles; Without the laser class the BETA are actually fairly easily to mop up with Artillery, it's the reason why the mechs exist in the first place = The mechs target the laser class units, and then the rest are mopped up.
Well you are correct but we also decided to leave out ALOT of info including sequence like how its laser-then heavy laser class supported by forts. And how their destruction affects the battlefield, but i guess in a sense its implied? This video covers the bare basics just covering the strains themselves, like concept wise. Im not sure if this addresses your concern though sorry! P.s you seem very knowledgeable mate. Would you be interested in joining the team? -G
I feel like the BETA anti-air variant is absolutely plot armor that it can hit artillery mid air like a shell thats 6 inches in size or less followed by tens if not hundreds of other rounds. I feel like the reason that artillery shouldn’t have failed to work would be because they simply ran out of ammunition to the swarm of the BETA
@@thealternativeproject I understand what you mean, you were taking it from a battlefield position role where Laser Heavy laser and Forts are generally deployed way back and the offensive of the BETA is rushing with melee units. I was just pointing out that canonically the BETA were dominant because they took away air and sea superiority almost instantly because Laser units were one of the first to be "felt" In that case the guide is very good in showing just why the BETA are so absolutely horrific to fight. Keep up the good work.
@@chaosinsurgency6636 The issue there is the BETA didn't really land as a swarm, they started out small, the reason they became out of hand is they were ignored and the BETA hive is good at overall adaptive tactics. Lasers make sense when you understand the entire point of the BETA is to defend hives as they mine for resources and each form is hyper adapted to this job. Laser class are literally colossal eyes that also work as a focusing lens for an extremely powerful laser weapon. It's a "Little" Plot armorlike but it does give a good explaination why they needed mechs designed for close quarters and rapid vertical insertion over just Macross style robot-jets.
One little detail I feel would have been worth mentioning is that how despite they are carbon based lifeforms, they lack any kind of digestive system or the like, calling into question what they really are.
Valid point! But we chose to leave out alot of detail ,while including as much as possible in order to make the first 3 videos spoiler free yet still very informational. There will be another indepth breakdown and more down the line !
could be their some kind of bio-machine with built in programing. My understanding of the series is limited but I don't think they're that smart. They just force their way with numbers.
@@Mord12gp spoilers!!! my guy, especially if you havent seen the VNs. and i think the wiki also has spoilers if you go looking for finer details, but i havent looked that hard at the details there atm.
I think the most terrifying part is their unfathomable numbers around the entire universe. If memory serves, it’s implied that their numbers can only be quantified in scientific notation
Can we just stop to give attention to how the Soldier Class has a very visible opening resembling a vagina in its lower abdomen just to add to the u settling factor?
Great video! Especially now that Muv-Luv is getting more attention here on the west these past few years. At first when I entered the series I thought of them as your usual "humanity extermination species" thing, the truth... ended up being a lot more haunting than expected. Just seeing that "particular strain" is enough to trigger the memories already. 😅
Im assuming you mean when, 'you know who' asks about that experience..? You mean "that" strain right? Lol. And we along with others are trying to get muv luv to the west in an accessible and hopefully interesting way. So its amazing its getting more attention! Muv Luv really us a hidden diamond in the rough -G
Based on this video, my personal theory is that these things are robot soldiers, not like actual mechanical soldiers, i mean that these things were sent by some other malevolent force to subjugate earth. In the same way that humans will send a drone strike to kill a warlord during a wedding, so too did whatever force out there send the Beta to subjugate Earth. Every form we've seen other than maybe the Destroyer appear to be made entirely for combat, they apparentally don't have a digestive system, they build a few things sure but they're main goal appears to be killing and eating things so they can make more of them so they can kill and eat more things. Even ants do other shit like building complex nests and fighting other ants and actually eating. They aren't here to live or survive, they're here to destroy.
Well they do build HIVEs but we left ALOT of info out to keep it spoiler free within our first 3 videos. So im curious to see your pov in the future. That being said you are 90% correct, good deduction skills!! -G
It is interesting how in Anime forgot which one, there is Finnish survivor, who told about her father who defended Finland, Finland putting into good defence, but failed due corrupt government and Military Leadership which sounds like what happened to us in WW2. Thank you still for making this video, always been interested of the BETA, and creeped out of them due how in anime they show BETA eating humans alive.
3:43 What I find the most interesting part of BETA design is how their usual "formation" is not a product of intrinsic intelligence, just a result of the differences in physical characteristics. Most of the time they are on auto, using absolutely no strategy or tactics whatsoever, but their own nature and differences between strains results in the same battle doctrines happening. It's like a biological, instinctual form of combined arms warfare. MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE SPOILERS And most terryfing of all, all the strains we know of are expendable mining drones. Even the core of the original hive doesn't consider itself a lifeform, so one shudders to imagine what a bona-fide, actual invasion of the actual BETA would look like. They are entities capable of designing biological machines that work so perfectly in tandem with each other that they result in a completly one-sided war against the finest humanity has to offer.
Another spoiler..... The actual BETA were negotiated with and changed their strategy to not inadvertently hit worlds with sentient life. Though by that time Humanity created AI and weapons that can match or exceed Beta base units.
Glad it was helpful! we want the plethora of info available out there to be easily understood and utilised. but the codex and wiki are great for understanding everything however its has some outdated info and its all over the place is a headache lol.
I just started to get into the franchise via anime (i'll try the VN later) and I'm thankful that you explained everything so clearly, without any spoiler content! For a big fanbase as Muv Luv has, there's not that many divulgative channels in here, so it's greatly appreciated.
That was our goal with the first 3 videos! So thank you ! We highly reccomemd the VNs,they paint such a deep and detailed picture. And the feels come harder then the anime honestly. (Ofc MLA anime is baller though) -G
Gruesome and disturbing series, but I still love it when Yuuya first takes to the battlefield with the prototype high-speed railgun and in an instant becomes the first human to obliterate an entire invading force of Beta's which included a lot of the Beta Destroyers, tanks and grappler units in it, nearly all by himself, stunning all of the other multi-national combatant forces on the field, as well as those in the rear command base.
Thanks, I watched the two series on this and loved it. Always wanted to pick up the VNs and see the complete story but life has just gotten in the way. Hopefully would do one day. Although a person like me won't mind a spoiler marked video on the BETA, basically know everything said here from the series and yes indeed I "Would Like To Know More". So even I never get around to running through the VNs then at least I would know more than the surface level depth of the BETA from what the series' offers. I see on japanese youtube there is development videos on a action 3rd person game in development for Muv Luv. That would be sick, the tech is at a great spot to do it justice.
this video shouldn't really contain spoilers as its a general overview, everything in-depth was intentionally left out, as to give new people a lot to look forward to when seeing anime or the VNs. Unless you mean if we make a video encompassing everything then you wouldn't mind either? also there is project Mikhail but otherwise other games are kind of hard to access an whatnot!. glad you like our content though! -G
i have not, between trying to get the next video through and life stuff, plus my own muv luv projects,my time is sparse sadly. drop a link if you want though! -G
it seems like some of these beta could be a detriment to other varients if humans can harness them. That acid can come in handy when dealing with them.
@@thealternativeproject if they can subdue the fortress type and drain it of it's acid they could weaponize it. melt waves of them by raining acid on them. make trap mortars that and bullets that inject acid to melt them from the inside out. It could seriously dammage lazer types as the acid would destroy ther corneas. even heavy lazer types can't stop acid as it would eat away at their protective lids and render them blind.
@@potatomongrel thats one way to go about it but thats full of so many logistical and technical hurdles that might dwarf even the XG-70 lol. Plus i think forts are not able to be captured the same way as smaller strains. Food for thought though, but in universe i think these ideas are avoided for "big battle scene" lol.
@@potatomongrel everything you say above can be done by bullet, making acid ammo that can literally eating everything on it way is a logistic nightmare, from containing the strain to producing them to transport and use, too unreliable and asking for a containment breach.
These things should look better than they do to me. I wish I had the words to describe it, but the closest that I can come to the right words is it has that modern anime look. It looks like there are scenes in both 2D computer render and 3D computer render, and neither one looks right to me. I feel like they should look dirtier, like they've been in the mud and scraped by rocks in the terrain. The only way I can say it is these models look too clean. I've been told that there are things a skilled team can do with the lighting, but I don't know exactly what. It feels like at some point the industry figured out how to present a high school anime perfectly and forgot to change the settings for every other genre.
@@fealtyknight1015 No, the humans in 40K are armed enough to carry out a plan to wipe out the betas in a matter of hours, and in the 40K universe, the humans fight a race that adapts all the time, but humans can fight even if they adapt. good. (This might be because of the Imperial Navy.)
@@deniskruffsave4588Tbf, any Sci-Fi navy would kick the BETA's teeth in as they themselves don't have any space force whatsoever. But I strongly disagree with the IG being able to defeat the BETA. Literally none of their tactics (except for those of the Gaunts' Ghost's) would work against them.
@@benz505 Yes true, but the main interplanetary strategy because beta size still takes more than 30 years to war against humans with only 200+ years of technology, but for human combat forces at 40,000+ years and hundreds of airborne warships attacking Personally, I don't think it's hard to beat Beta for sure with spaceships in Warhammer 40K or maybe just 1-2 Primemarks.
My solution to the beta problem would be to pull a UNO reverse and develop The Flood from Halo...but for Silicon-based lifeforms. instead of direct firepower, we make an abominable parasitic species designed specifically to infest the BETA by taking over their nervous system, produce more parasite pods from the BETA, and in turn infect the BETA swarm. A counter swarm which is loyal to mankind due seeing us, the carbon-based lieforms as the only true life. This would force the BETA to fight a war against both conventional human militaries and pathogens designed to destroy them. So instead of burning the slain BETA, we use them as biomater to feed our own Swarm of eldritch horrors
A word to the wise if you plan on hopping into this series: Persevere, continue on until the end. The art style is dated, the music is campy, the first game in the series is absolutely necessary to understand what comes after (and before), but is an absolute SLOG of a VN. You need to forge a connection with the characters in order to appreciate the story in full, it may seem impossible at times; heck the one bond that ties you to the series may be just be pure stubbornness, or outright dislike. Whatever that bond is; I urge you to hold fast to it. Because it is the ONLY way that you'll get through this series and (potentially) experience one of the most complex, but deeply satisfying conclusions to any fictional work (written or otherwise). Good luck, and remember that it's always the darkest before dawn.
Huh, I wonder if they were inspired by or inspired the scrin from C&C, the structure they were building was very similar to the threshold towers of scrin.
The BETA assault was gradual. At first it was only one hive of BETA in Kashgar, not like as if the current absurdly high #s were always there. They do other stuff besides endlessly moving forward to destroy so there was SOME time Also as for building mechs, the TSFs are just by far the most suited, not all they fight with. Early into the war it was primarily the plethora of old tanks, military equipment and nukes being used for what attempts at containing BETA offensives they could do. Even as late as 2001 the USSR still uses tanks in a decent capacity. The TSFs were built upon MMUs that'd already been used to build on the moon, and had been used in some combat capacity during the lunar war. So the transition took time but was possible, would've probably been smoother if not for the cold war.
one of greatness sci-fi ever..... the whole successor of Starship Troopers, wait until you see Fortress Lasser class love the design of TSF too, USSR TSF design is wild and awesome
I always felt these kind of threats do seem cool, untill you realize modern weaponry- without being limited by the geneva convention, and modern tech. Would turn mass murdering bio-forms into a cakewalk, radiowaves could be used to make them cook up and explode at a distance for example. The potential of killing humanity already has, ignoring nuclear bombs is insane, a united humanity would steamroll a species who's only tactic is zerg rushes.
Nukes werent ignored it is a similar dilemma to the G-bomb and humanity is fighting a "clean war" additionally the story is at 2001 so its feasible microwaves werent that high tech yet, like we see zumwalt destroyers in integrate thats like a decade or so after even. But also mecha action my guy lol. But generally the BETA would likely adapt to these things..which would be highly problematic. -G
@@thealternativeproject I love the anime for what it is, and enjoy it as is dont get me wrong. But the beta would get modied by 2001 humans after some considerable losses. Their lasers are countered by low flying mechs? The entire reason we dont fly planes that low is indeed to not blow out everyone's eardrums and cause mass destruction- aswell as avoid enemy small arms fire. But if pilots could? yeah no laser betas would get bodied by low flying planes rapidly zooming across the battlefield. Frontline betas? Doesnt matter how fancy your armor is, if something hits you with enough force your insides are mush. They would get bodied by anti tank guns or tankhunters. There's so many crazy counters and really f'd up things i can think of to indeed wreck the betas- even if they adapted its just on to the next tactic. The real terrifying thing would be if the betas learned infiltration like 40k genestealers or xenomorphs from alien. Now then humanity would be utterly done for, we deal well with battlelines and destruction outside or production sites. But the moment we get infiltrated its GG.
@@KelebMoonDancer planes flying too low always is risky. Some guys said that "Ekranoplanos"(search it) would be more practical for that range of altitudes. Another retarded thing, is that the tanks are never developed for BETA combat, but nooooooo, tanks using ERA(used as counter-measure against OTHER tanks IRL) is a viable choice 😅 No more ammo? No better turret with spikes or chainsaws for fending off melee BETAs? No better armor? Nope. NOTHING.
@@virgilio6349 #### Spoiler warning #### Read at own risk. So they arnt rogue my guy, they answer to a higher power..which is the original hive that started it all on earth. Who would win, Zergs (Starcraft), BETAs, Tyranids (Warhammer 40k) or Arachnids (Starship Troopers)? Assuming they all start with equal numbers. Edit: Guess I should add Formics from Ender's Game as well.
Zergs, they not only have intergalatic travel. They also assimilate anything that has life. The worse is that you became infested, which is fate worse than death.
now that is a very tough question, out of the mosh pit that would create, only the Zerg and definitely the Tyranids would be left standing, the Zerg however though very similar to the Tyranids in tactics and evolution, would be in a VERY sorry state, they wouldnt be able to keep up with the Nids constant on the fly evolution and adaptation, eventually the Nids would be even more powerful and probably develop new strains of bio-forms, espcially with the Beta dna now coursing through the hive fleets, the current strains like gaunts and Gargoyles would be significantly upgrade for better urban combat, much like how the other bigger strains would adopt new abilites and traits from the larger beta classes. Another thing to add is if there is anything Psychic related on the battlefield, The Shadow of the Warp would be in full effect, shutting off essential needs like space travel, psychic connections to the lesser units and such. The only ones that could stand up and keep up with Tyranids rapid evolution would be the Orks since the spores from dead Orks actually fight things at the molecular level, growing and adapting just as fast as the Nids.
If in a single planet, then Tyranids. If in a whole star system then Zerg. The Swarm's Leviathan can FTL while the Tyranid Hivefleet can only travel at sub-light speed. Also Baneling.
Tyranids come from outside the galaxy Zergs are sectorial( krupulu sector) threat Beta have been fighting humans for 30 years while tyranids eat worlds within in hours
This makes me wonder how would Macross fair in a Beta invasion. Lets go with "modern" Macross so multiple colony worlds and more advanced ships and fighters.
Well, some people will still be alive in macross fleets. Im pretty sure advanced VFs like YF-29 or YF-30 would be effective against BETA and mass produced fighters like VF-171, 25 or 31 will take BETA by sheer number alone. However BETA might be immune to songs and whatever the fuck is happening while songstress' perform. Im a macross fan myself and all my votes in this hypothetical scenario are on humans and possibly other races like zentraedi or windermerians
The mechs in Macross are mostly aerial/space fighters though. Meanwhile the BETAs are mostly land dwellers with some (but potent) anti air. The laser class will force the valkyries to fight mostly on battroid mode. And given that they're similar to a TSF to a degree, no amount of fighters will be able to hold the line for long against such a near endless horde. That being said, if the pinpoint barrier can hold against the laser class, then they might have a good chance to win. Their only hope is probably to use multiple macross quarter and raze the battlefield with macross cannons. Lasers shouldn't be a problem for macross quarter's armor and barriers. I also completely forgot about whether the BETA can survive nuke, since a Macross fleet usually has a few artillery mechs armed with nuke cannons.
@@spearsage Not sure if a Spoiler, but they do eventually exterminate all the BETA on Earth, only to find BETA on other planets and I think the moon who have built super hives.
@@grimnir8872 I suppose so long as the BETA remains mostly land-based, and has no known means to be communicated with, the Macross fleet will still win. A Macross fleet will be allowed to use extreme measures, even using multiple macross cannons or other WMD available to them to raze the planet if need be (there are precedence of it). Now, if the BETAs have a strain that is space/flight capable, then that's another story. That's gonna be like taking on the Vajra without the science-magic of Sheryl and Ranka's song. The question will be whether it's the original macross where humanity has just began to travel to the far side of space, or the more modern macross where humanity has explored pretty far and spread their sphere of influence deep into the space. The former will have trouble, as they have limited resources. The latter should easily win the conflict given how far they've advanced their technology already, and how many allies available for them to call upon. Edit: I don't mind spoilers
I don't know why youtube recommended me this video. I've not heard of this series at all, yet despite that, I just watched this entire video! Great work! Might give the show a peek.
Is there ever a conclusion to this series? Do the beta ever get defeated even at great cost? Also why doesn’t the people in this universe create a viral weapon so they can wiped out with an incredibly deadly virus?
it's setting on alternate universe tho when humanity still recover form WW2, and most of nation still on heats of conflict.... they didn't even have a luxury like a video games since all tech and human resource goes to military after Space Race (by USSR and US) and First Lunar War, so medicine and any other object that outside the warfare has very low progess. Even humanity created a deadly virus, Beta still can learn how to avoid same outcome
@@nicoary3677 then if that’s the case why not obtain some beta samples and reverse engineer a retro virus even if it takes a few years then insert it into whatever controls the beta and it will produce sick and weakened and dying beta. They are a hive mind like any hive mind once you take out the original nest you kill all future generations this would technically be a military application so unless our understanding of genetics was severely halted then why not do it that way.
Depends what universe. In one humanity is winning and is currently in the progress of cleaning the system for BETA. Others humanity is about to be extinct with internal human wars for the last land going on while BETA is still there. other humanity is pushing back slowly but still losing a lot of people
I can't help but make this comparison with a Tyranid Swarm. Honestly if this was a UK animation studio I wouldn't be surprised if they got a cease and desist order from GW.
considering only the name I would say it's a love comedy story with fun and cute school life and that's why I watched it a few years back .... yeah it's not that, I cannot tell you how many characters I liked died in that
Where are the beta from? I couldn't see it in the description. Edit: I did watch the full video, very interesting and a surprisingly unique set of creatures. After several years you'd think it'd be hard to find something original, yet here we are! Good content, and I plan to stick around for more.
One of the greatest weaknesses of the humans is all of their above ground structures seem to have a complete lack of foundations and can be tipped over like a sleeping cow. Of course your going to struggle against the extra-terrestrial horrors if you can’t actually build. Oh also if your solution is to seek melee combat as a matter of doctrine you are probably going to lose a few more people than you would by being reasonable.
TSFs are specialised in many roles, melee is actually a sound tactic in many respects. But theres a difference. I.e pilots are so scared they dont move and get railed and die. From a resource standpoint one melee blade can save thousands of caseless rounds for assault cannons too. But each country has their own doctrines. See our TSF video! -G
@@thealternativeproject Blue Gender, highly recommend! It was definitely an inspiration to Muv Luv to a certain degree. But the series was released in 1999 so you know its good. Anime in those days had mind melting good hand drawn cell painted animation. It's one of those series where the dub VS sub debate really grinds because of how much attention the studio did that localized it. They even translated the theme songs to english with an american band and I'm on the fence till this day which one is better, the sub or the dub. But yeah if you love muv luv, you'll love Blue Gender. I bought the DVD way back and every so few years rewatch it.
It was a nice video I hoped that you would show us some of the most obscure theories and details of the BETA, some fan-made, others present in the novels themselves, but I guess this is fine.

If I have to guess, it may be for the radiation, mass bombard with nuclear weapons can be worse for us than for them, also the laser class may be able to attack the nukes before they properly reach the target and hive's structures are extremely tough they may be able tank a tactical nuke head on, you may need an hidrogen bomb to destroy just one, but nukes have been used as last resort in the past, on the other hand G bombs seems to he much more clean than nuclear bombs, so to this day I am not sure why they don't use them much more to attack already stablished hives. I mean they destroyed a hive using one G bomb and some time later they build a base in the same place, without any apparent repercusions to human health, but I guess people don't like the idea of their country being bombed to oblivion, but if the Beta have already destroyed and/or eaten everything and the G bomb doesn't have that bad collateral damage... whats the point of being so sentimental about it, the BETA have already turn the place in a barren land, without any nature or human made objects left, so whats the problem with use G bombs?
I wonder if low flying cruise missiles would work against the laser class, a storm shadow can fly a few meters above the ground meaning the lasers would have a few seconds to react to it ( a nuclear warhead would detonate before they could get LOS on the missile, then pound the rest to dust with bombers and artillery.
Laser class attack on alot of factors, tech level being one of them, said cruise missile is on par with tanks and ground units which do get engaged. Missiles are used in massive barrages on conjunction anti laser rounds but again nukes donot work well and humanity is fighting a clean war lol. Additionally heavy laser has 40km of range and can easily attack, its just flying low and being agile is how TSFs narrowly avoid getting destroyed lol. -G
The Laser class locks on instantly and a total of 6 seconds is all it requires for the laser to fire. Combine this with the fact a platoon can have 12 to 20, and assaulting a hive means 100s of laser and Heavy Laser class. The small laser only has 12 seconds refraction and the heavy 30.

i feel like the betas could be feasibly countered using modern technology the majority of the betas are essentially really short ranged tanks and the anti personnel ones are basically like large dangerous animals such as bears. a nuke or two, the deployment of automatic naval cannons in defensive positions, smoke/ablative countermeasures (if the lasers are actual lasers and not magic death beams), mass coordinated artillery bombardment/missile strikes directed by high altitude aircraft and high calibre guns as standard issue (such as .50 beowulf or shotguns) would make fairly quick work of the betas
aircraft have 0 chance to be fielded since the laser class can 360 no scope aircraft, hence the inception of TSFs. and it was proven bareinfantry are ineffective hence why mechanised infantry exist(exo skeletons) additionally everything you have said is correct and is exactly what is portrayed in the newest anime and prior ones, only in schwarzmarken do we regular flesh and blood soldiers using AK's face the BETA. The problem is BETA are durable, come in near infinite numbers and as you saw, the destroyers are nigh impervious frontally, and heavy laser class can decimate ground units at several kilometres unless destroyed by artillery or laserjagd. additionally nukes have been proven to be ineffective to a degree and using them gives rise to the G-bomb dillmer (gravity bomb type thing) that will make land either hard to re-inhabit or completely uninhabitable. (SPOILERS) >>>>>>> like when USA nuked canada with many tactical nukes to destroy the BETA landing unit. succeeded but left Canada mostly impossible to inhabit and said BETA weren't aware of humanities abilities since no laser class emerged. -G
@@thealternativeproject high altitude aircraft can fly essentially right at the border between space and the atmosphere, and since i don't see any mentions of laser class shooting down satellites i'm pretty sure they'll be at least somewhat effective for coordinating artillery at the laser class. I don't see how any of the anti-personnel classes could get anywhere close to a firing line full of soldiers armed with shotguns and other high calibre, high stopping power guns. people use shotguns to kill elephants and there are even high explosive/fragmenting slugs available to the military, and .50 beowulf is used by hunters to kill big/dangerous game. also, for emplaced defensive lines the options for infantry are significantly expanded, with heavy machine guns firing essentially anti-tank rounds at some 400rpm and automatic grenade launchers firing high velocity grenades (don't say the armour will just block everything because HEDP grenades are a thing and are literally small anti-tank warheads with extra frag) at some 325-400 rpm. don't forget that infantry will likely have vehicle support and that means even more firepower, with even troop transports being armed with 20mm+ autocannons. if the laser class use actual lasers instead of magic murder beams, then ablative/reflective armour and smoke/chaff countermeasures would also work. blanket the battlefield in smoke or opaque chaff and the laser class's range and power will be significantly decreased, then use any of the myriad of detection systems that aren't impeded by smoke for target identification (or not, since the beta don't seem to use cover at all, and just spray wildly into the smoke/chaff). apply ablative plating to vehicles and even direct strikes might be possible to withstand while reflective coatings could simply deflect the majority of the energy of the beam. airbursting munitions, indirect grenade fire, artillery bombardment, a motorized quick-reaction force, and the deploying of naval cannons in defensive positions could all counter destroyer classes. have a shell fly over them, then detonate; showering their unarmoured rear with fragmentation. arc grenades over them, again showering their unarmoured read with fragmentation. bombard them with artillery, even more fragmentation. burying naval cannon turrets into defensive lines, i don't think even the thickest beta armour could withstand a 16-inch naval shell. and a force of lightweight vehicles, anti-air carriages configured for ground attack, and even technicals could probably flank them and just unload into their sides and rear. if the laser class have been taken out by coordinated artillery (directed by the aforementioned high-altitude aircraft, or even potentially satellites) then close air support would also make short work of them. and there's always the option of massive artillery and missile bombardment. simply showering the battlefield with as many large artillery shells as possible. accurate artillery is the reason linear warfare fell out of favour, since a forward observer could simply spot your massive, densely packed formation and then direct artillery to lob a whole bunch of explosive, fragmentation-spewing shells into it. the way you're saying it, it almost seems like you're implying that the beta are simply immune to attrition. with how densely packed beta formations are, a staggeringly large number of them could be fit into the range at which all matter is simply turned into plasma from a nuclear warhead. with the sheer number of losses that the beta would withstand even from just conventional weaponry i don't believe they would be able to maintain the high volume tactics for very long.
In the mecha board of 4chan , various critics were made about the realism of the Laser Classes. The energy ouput showed in-universe would burn the atmosphere or provoke more destruction than anything seen... Also, Humanity using the same weapons (TSFs as a main line units) for 30 YEARS is a recipe for disaster. Did not work on the Moon, less in Earth. (Buuut, Rule of Cool. Yeah... 😂) Muv-Luv's Humanity story can be a grim dark military drama. But still, a Darwin's Award candidate for incompetence .
TSFs were upgraded so the term if it aint broke dont fix it yano? Lol. And we arnt science savvy so ill leave the science alone. But id argue humanity nailed tactics really well. Aside from various other methods they dont use lol. -G
@@lelouche25 better to clarify now... I refer to TSFs as a platform , which is god to deal damage to BETAs , but they cannot hold the ground, and tend to be fragile (it goes from a few smaller strains, to one fatal hit from the bigger ones and the lasers classes). Without holding grounds , and supplies being sketchy at best, no wonder humanity got his ass overrun. The way Muv luv depicts the war is like the Movie Starship Troopers: TSFs as cannon fodder, the rest of the army as useless, Navy as limited to coast bombardment, and the Orbital divers as suicidal before even touches the ground.
Kinda agree with you here, at least I thought it was good but then humanity in Muv-Luv is a bit dumb of not, not deploying enough SPAAGs, relying TSFs to take brunt of everything, not mounting autocannon on main battle tanks, dummy artillery rounds etc etc. The Codex attempted to explain this but it failed to draw me in so I feel like it is a wasted potential. I can see it tried to be realistic but no, most people who rethink could probably poke a few holes.

I wonder how well the Earth Federation would stand against the BETA. The Universal Century Mobile Suits like the Gundam or the Mass-Produced GM series and Jegans are powered by Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactors, and those Minovsky particles can block beam fire from Mobile Suits or even Battleships with the downside of causing an EMP-like interference to electronic communications. The Earth Federation can utilize that to launch Mobile Suits like Jegans on Base Jabbers or Zeta Plus units to conduct Anti-Laser Operatorions, they won't have comminication issues since they transmit orders via "Laser transmission". Then their Beam rifles could easily pierce through most BETA, and some of them are armed with Anti-Ship missile launchers or can be outfitted with specialized equipment like the Stark Jegan could take down multiple Fort classes after the Laser class are neutralized. Although thinking about it again, the reason why the BETA is winning against humanity is due to their near unlimited numbers so i think the Federation, in the long run, would eventually deplete their ammunition and since Mobile Suits need propellant made from Helium-3, a rare gas mined from Jupiter's surface, i think they would find it difficult to maintain the fight for very long periods. But still, i want to see Jegans and Zeta Plus fight against the BETA hehe

I'd say no. Zerg adapt immediately, Tryanids adapt within days to hours.
Both of them have more massive numbers, more strains, and have less weaknesses.
Beta are super low tier power level when compared to anything from Starcraft or especially 40K, but that's ok because it's supposed to be that way. Great video
I always loved the BETA.
Yeah I always found their designs really disturbing, they just feel so twisted and inhuman.
Yeah man the Chimera were sick
@@trainenthusiast5199 Very much agreed

MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE SPOILERS
And most terryfing of all, all the strains we know of are expendable mining drones.

I've been told that there are things a skilled team can do with the lighting, but I don't know exactly what. It feels like at some point the industry figured out how to present a high school anime perfectly and forgot to change the settings for every other genre.
You make a point honestly,TSFs get covered in blood n so on the BETA kinda dont lol
They really do look out of place.
Humans in the 40,000 K universe should be able to defeat the Betas with ease in my opinion.

The BETA are organic robots created by silicon-based aliens who didn't know carbon-based biology could develop naturally. Literally.

-G
When is that revealed
Ive seen enough zombie movies to know this is a scary idea that could back fire hard lol.

A word to the wise if you plan on hopping into this series:
Persevere, continue on until the end.

But how did humanity survive that long? building large mech and weapon must be consuming a lot of our resources really fast
The BETA assault was gradual. At first it was only one hive of BETA in Kashgar, not like as if the current absurdly high #s were always there. They do other stuff besides endlessly moving forward to destroy so there was SOME time
Also as for building mechs, the TSFs are just by far the most suited, not all they fight with.
I'm honestly surprised no one ever think about Nuking it. LOL
Did you watch the video? It's because the Laser Class completely annihilate aircraft.
Well they did and its doesnt work. In other timeline, they use similiar thing but at that time, humanity already lost. Earth is fucked

Another retarded thing, is that the tanks are never developed for BETA combat, but nooooooo, tanks using ERA(used as counter-measure against OTHER tanks IRL) is a viable choice 😅
No more ammo? No better turret with spikes or chainsaws for fending off melee BETAs? No better armor? Nope. NOTHING.
@@matiasfpmYeah it's a shame but tbf armour wouldn't really help. Humanity threw most of it's resources into super mobile TSFs

Now this is high quality content
Tyranids come from outside the galaxy

@@anunax said "modern" so 2023 or so. What you are saying is current Macross.

-G
@@thealternativeproject well that with canada seems like a strategic nuke problem not a tactical one but i would have to look further into it
If I have to guess, it may be for the radiation, mass bombard with nuclear weapons can be worse for us than for them, also the laser class may be able to attack the nukes before they properly reach the target and hive's structures are extremely tough they may be able tank a tactical nuke head on, you may need an hidrogen bomb to destroy just one, but nukes have been used as last resort in the past, on the other hand G bombs seems to he much more clean than nuclear bombs, so to this day I am not sure why they don't use them much more to attack already stablished hives.
@@lelouche25 say a cruise missile was flying a hair under Mach one (speed which current cruise missiles operate) at around 10 meters above the ground (current cruise missiles can do this) the height of the other beta classes would obstruct line of sight to the missile until it was right on top of them, I mean a 500 kilo warhead has got to do the trick right?

the BETAS are one of the freakiest looking monsters ever!
i feel like the betas could be feasibly countered using modern technology
the majority of the betas are essentially really short ranged tanks and the anti personnel ones are basically like large dangerous animals such as bears.
a nuke or two, the deployment of automatic naval cannons in defensive positions, smoke/ablative countermeasures (if the lasers are actual lasers and not magic death beams), mass coordinated artillery bombardment/missile strikes directed by high altitude aircraft and high calibre guns as standard issue (such as .50 beowulf or shotguns) would make fairly quick work of the betas
aircraft have 0 chance to be fielded since the laser class can 360 no scope aircraft, hence the inception of TSFs. and it was proven bareinfantry are ineffective hence why mechanised infantry exist(exo skeletons) additionally everything you have said is correct and is exactly what is portrayed in the newest anime and prior ones, only in schwarzmarken do we regular flesh and blood soldiers using AK's face the BETA.
Yeah... 😂)
Muv-Luv's Humanity story can be a grim dark military drama.
-G
Not sure what you mean, by using the same weapon. TSF were constantly upgraded and made better as the generations came and went.
@@lelouche25 and the "weapons" upgrades are marginal at best to stop the advance, even less to change the tide .

I feel these things are very beatable with more advanced hardware. I might be wrong but I'm just saying. Also maybe more well equipped mech units.
humanity is in pre 2002 even with weapons development accelerated, its still modern warfare units restructured for fighting BETA,closest to "advanced" is the XG-70 and some magic fuckery you see in total eclipse. muv luv is designed to be grounded in reality not going gundam level of insanity which draws away from the rank and file fighting the war.
and there is a plethora of mechs, that do great, especially the A6 and A10 series TSFs.

As alien as aliens will ever get in more ways than one :) cool spoiler free video!
Thank you very much! We did our best for the first 3 videos to be as informatitive yet spoiler free as possible!

So... Humanity didn't invent the rail gun in this universe? Just saying- nothing organic can survive a dumbbell made of tungsten that travels half as fast as the ISS...
Its still experimental as far as we know. There was plans for XG-70 to have em but as you see in alt.

13:11 we need to talk about what's down there. Is that the reproductive organ?
i sure hope not.. lol
-G
thus anime is a nightmare fuel than evangelion
How so lol.
-G
@@thealternativeproject well you see evangelion is about existencial crisis while this beta anime is like attack on titan but more nightmare fuel
@@joshuagraham2843 oh i see lol. Well in regards to that..all i can say is strap yourself in because the rides just started xD

@@thealternativeprojectthese betas are the creepiest alien to encounter with and it look like the world are reunited with an early advanced technology
but remember, the muv luv is an alternate universe were humans finally united and create early mech robots and sent to the moon
no world war 1 no world war 2 no cold war
its strange i liked the concept of peace nation until big giant creepy mouth monsters eating people
Beautiful narration
10kms high isnt actually that bad, with U.S. weaponry of the time it would actually be possible to destroy them outside their range.
Thats whats attempted but alot munitions would be destroyed or not particularly effective. A potential threat is still a potential threat afterall.
-G
@@thealternativeproject true but this is the same with modern integrated air defense systems as well. An effective suppression of enemy air defenses will include attack from multiple directions, attacks with multiple weapons at once, attacks with decoys and a mix of surface launched and air launched munitions.
@@tacosaladone22one i believe that is used in alot of cases but humanity does have resource limits they cant afford specialised munitions enmass in every battle. I.e in operation 21st i believe 50% of ammo reserves were used just for one island capture operation.
As well as lasers can 360 no scope anything ,missing is a minor variable ,hence why AL(Anti Laser) shells are effective in either being intercepted or destroyed.
And air launched munitions? Aircraft cannot be deployed besides TSFs in any battle or what do you mean like missiles with sub munitions?

Amazing video
Okay, neat video. My one suggestion would be to actually mention what anime this is from. If not in the video itself, at least put it in the description. I'd be interested in watching this, but I have no clue what it is.
Apologies mate ill add it to the description! However it seems your new to the universe? So id like to state this. There are 3 animes all of which we used in our productions thus far. Besides the visual novel stuff (id reccomend them before anime but anyway)
In 'order'
Animes are as follow in chronological order:
-Schwarzmarken
-Muv luv total eclipse
-Muv luv Alternative (which is recent and honestly amazing)
Id say watch these in order but honestly alternative which is the 'main' story. The other 2 are up for discussion in alot of respects.
14:58 is the the reproductive organ down there?
Nope, as far as we know, they cannot reproduce. However, being made from leftover human DNA, this could simply be a crude facsimile by the Aliens.
what about the Alaskan Bullworm?
We decided to leave some out to avoid spoilers,as in a future video we will cover absolutely everything! That was at the end of some stories so the telling kind of changes the effect of seeing it for first time. You could debate primer series itself is much spoilers but for our point of view it gives alot of detail while leaving alot out!
@@thealternativeproject thanks 👍🙂
Very nice video..
Personally I would not let them invade.
H-How? Lol
-G
@@thealternativeproject Just say no. They cannot legally invade your planet without your consent.
Very interested to see what new strains may be introduced
Oh yes lol.
