Hi All, just thought I should respond to everyone saying I wish Anna to be injured. I obviously don't want that at all. I just was honest about me wishing the Empress was there and the cruel reality of the Tutberidze girls and figure skating for ladies is that the only way that will happen is if another girl like Anna to be injured. I don't wish that upon her but I was just being honest that a window opening for Tuktamysheva would make me happy. I don't wish injuries on young girls and I'm actually scared that Anna will get injured or just plainly get hate because she won't get a reasonable score at the Olympics. The conclusion of this video is that I am scared for Anna's mental and physical wellbeing not that I wish her bad luck. I literally say "I'm terrified for Shcherbakova" 37:04 and hope she comes out a stronger woman at the end of this Olympic season.
Your comment was blown out of proportion on Reddit. Of course you don't wish for Anna to be injured. Keep doing your thing, because your videos are great.
a lot was def blown out of proportion on reddit/twitter but knowing you I know that you're supportive of all the girls and would be happy regardless if Liza goes or not. The hate on you is def just from a big misunderstanding and I hope you're not disheartened by the comments. Wishing you the best Pao no matter what ❤❤
I understood what you meant. I do live these videos and have no one else to talk to about this either. I love the empress she is so amazing to watch. I can't take my eyes off the screen! Also we know Valieva, my goodness seeing her debut I was amazed. I was talking to my bestie about how our ballet careers were just injury after injury and how crazy the training is and how high the expectations are getting for younger and younger ages, unless you've been doing it forever. . Anyway, the mental health and physical well being ( and structural body health) of all of these young women seems to be something that other countries would see. Anyway, I definitely loved all the funny and fun moments. (:
Please 😁 Not only you wish Anya to be injuried, but you also blame Eteri because SOMEHOW it was she who put this wish in you mind. You literally said that by yourself in this exact video.
Watching this in 2023 is so funny. Paola being scared that the Olympics would be boring, scared because Anna might break down. The belief that Kamila would change the sport BY WINNING. This sport never misses, that's for sure.
@@airtempest8945 I'm just getting to know the sport and all I see is a big mess, scandals and corruption everywhere 🤮. It's a pity, because it's so beautiful. I'll probably just watch ice shows from now on.
@@mariliap It's honestly so sad what happens. I'm new too and every single time I'm like "Girl really?" when I see the rigging or "Why is she here?" with the abundance of competitors who are forced to compete heavily injured.
LOL hearing the commentary about how there was nothing to look forward to in the Beijing Olympics…but the biggest plot twist happened this season is so unexpected and unreal
i mean it wasnt hate. Paola was talking about THIS performance and how Anna was overscored. realistically even tho she did great in olympics this skate was pretty bad bc of the falls. She was judging based on this specific performance
i mean not really. Paola was talking about THIS performance and how Anna was overscored. realistically even tho she did great in olympics this skate was pretty bad bc of the falls.
let’s remember that over scoring is 100% not a skater’s fault. as Anna said in an interview after her performance, “My job is to go out and skate, not make the scores.” also loved the video as always Paola!! 💕
I hate when people blame the athlete for getting a place they don't think he deserves. It was disgusting and disparaging when the Russians did this to Linoy Ashram at the Olympics.
I literally went from the peace and serenity that was Japanese Nationals in the morning to the war zone and batshit crazy Russian Nationals in the evening - the difference is staggering.
And you must remember the cultural differences of these two cultures. Japanese are well known to bow, to be quiet, they do not speak many words. Russians are more tough if you would on the exterior. They go to war everyday and their everyday lives because their lives are brutal. Different climate, different terrain, different people, different culture
The feeling I'm getting from the figure skating community right now, expect for fanyus, is that people seems to be thinking lightly of Yuzuru's quad axel. Like this jump was deemed IMPOSSIBLE before Yuzuru showed his progress at Jnats. Yuzuru is literally making history right now but people are not thinking highly of it and criticizes him instead. And I think it's because Yuzuru is making it look so easy, which is probably why some people don't think that it's such a big deal. Everyone should be going crazy right now that Yuzuru is challenging the limits of the human body. Him not falling during the FP and skating cleanly after the quad axel, should be immensely praised. Honestly, if this was any other sport, Yuzuru would be much bigger and respected like Cristiano Ronaldo in soccer or Michael Jordan in basketball. But figure skating community, especially the haters just seems to think so low of him and want him out of this sport. When if the scoring/judging was fair, nobody should even come close to Yuzuru. Especially at this time, I don't feel like everyone appreciates how much Yuzuru is doing to the sport of FS. I just wonder what it would be like when he retires.
I guess you'll call me a hater, but let me express my opinion The 4a is an incredible feat of athleticism and everyone agrees its a big deal but what we saw was downgraded and 2 footed. I don't see why and how that should be celebrated as though he landed it. If it was Ur i would say different. And everyone, even shoma and nathan fans were praising him for his stamina and the fact he went clean for the rest of the free skate Also no, i disagree with your comments on scoring, maybe yuzu should have got a couple more points in pcs here or there, but imo his placements have always been correct (even gpf & worlds 19 where he poped and missed jumps and nathan was better) Also i agree with he should be as big as jordan or Ronaldo, but those guys also exist(ed) along with other superstars who also pushed the sport. In mens in fs we have nathan who pushes technical and his more hip hop mordern style, jason for his artistic style that he's developed with Roheen and then theres shoma, yuma, etx + other disciplines And as for the future, we're seeing it with illia, yuma, mark, Kao, etc.
In my opinion Yuzuru works not only on 4A, but also on brilliant transitions in and out and during whole programs and that is what is not scored properly. His new SP has 5-6 crossovers in total, and this should be noticed and broadly discussed!!!!!! However somehow people only see the jumps - I guess not many people understand this sport like Yuzuru does. For me it's hard to watch Nathan, because all he does are jumps (magnificent btw) and crossovers :/ But I respect him anyway! Go Nathan! Go Yuzu! I love Figure Skating in general
@@ladida9084 I agree with what you said, and I love Hanyu too. It's not landed at all, and until it is, he can't really be praised for it yet. Yes, it was brave to attempt it, as it could have gone horribly wrong, but it was a waste of marks imho. Maybe he tried it just for the experience (which I think is probably the case). I don't see any of your comment as hating on him lol. Why fans can't ever be critical if their heroes, I've got no clue 🙄😬
RIGHT. like yes it was under rotated, but goddamn he is closer than anyone, right now and for at least some time in the future, to land it properly. We dont need to celebrate it as though it was landed, but its definitely something that should be celebrated. Top figure skaters have said so themselves, to land a 4A would be fucking huge, the difficulty of the move is tremendous so the fact that this 27 year old man is not only working on such a move, but also is in the process of landing it, that's fucking unbelievable. I dont care what anyone says yuzuru hanyu has all of my fucking respect for that. And while we shouldn't prise him for something he has not done, at least give him some damn credit.
What's frustrating about Yuzuru is that no matter how many times he proves to be a LEGEND, to us - THE GOAT, people still tend to underestimate him everytime he rests from competition. He has proven that he is the best in Pyeongchang, he showed everyone who he is again in JNats. People tend to think that Yuzuru Hanyu is no longer a competition for the OGM so I loved how he proved everyone wrong in JNats. He is a 2-time OGMedalist afterall.
I was so satisfied with JNats that I wanna shove Yuzu’s 322 score at all of his doubter’s faces. Like really? You doubted him?? He was overworked, unsupervised during training, and literally sick at stockholm but he came home with a medal. Can the same be said for others? I don’t understand where the doubt comes from. 🤷🏻♀️
It's more "he was f*cking injured and honestly I am worried about how fully recovered he is and how well he can perform and please don't break that ankle before the Olympics I beg you" Hardly underestimating him. Just rather concerned for his health. Injuries, particularly filtered through foreign language media, can be unpredictable. Legends aren't automatically precluded from underperforming. That said, I'm super happy that Yuzuru showed off his recovery, progress, and 4A. Still, please don't break that ankle or anything else before the Olympics I beg.
I think a lot of it is newer or less seasoned skating fans just comparing Yuzuru to other skaters jump for jump. Obviously Nathan Chen has more quads, but the complex transitions, entries, and exits are just nowhere near Yuzuru's, but unless you know more about figure skating and how it is scored and watch it more than once every 4 years (or year), you don't realize that. People see the more difficult jump layouts and call it a day. Edit: I also want to say a lot of that is the fault of the ISU and its current judges. Insanely high GOEs are being handed out like candy on Halloween just for doing a quad regardless of the difficulty of those transitions and other elements. And that's even when the ISU handbook says the jump shouldn't get about a +3 GOE without those elements! They need to start implementing their own damn rules and system.
@@killbethy I agree with your observation. I think the ISU, besides implementing their own rules and clarifying ones that are susceptible to conflicting interpretations, should also educate the figure skating community. A lot of people are attracted to the sport. But little stay because they don’t understand how the sport is judged. When they try to learn how it is judged, fans, coaches, and skaters alike buttheads on the interpretation of rules because the ISU does not bother to clarify the same. It’s really sad to see talents not appropriately rewarded and worse, not rewarded at all. The worst of it is when talents are buried in the shadows and dreams are shattered when grey areas are exploited (some to the point that it can be arguably called cheating). I pray everyday that this awesome sport moves forward in the right and fair direction.
@@mariajesseannegloria3026 You would think by now they would realize that new or occasional watchers are turned off by the ambiguity and complexity of the CoP. In spite of all the amazing things happening in the sport, they just can't get the audience that they did in the 6.0 days. Obviously that doesn't really work for fairness, but I completely agree that something need to be done to make the scoring system more transparent and easier for new or occasional watchers to understand. People shouldn't have to look up how many elements are required and what they are or how GOE is determined. Even more specific, they shouldn't have to look it up elsewhere. I do think having the box at the top of the screen that shows the total points so far and what the score is for each element helps (although it also takes away a bit of the excitement because you basically know who won before getting into the K&C). Maybe things would be clarified better for new viewers if they switch the GOE system? Say, instead of having each judge just give a number (that is often unsubstantiated),, the judges should only check off the bullet points they think the element deserves. If the majority of judges agree on something (for example: creative entry for a jump), list the different bullet points at the top of the screen and highlight creative entry. The number of positive highlights would then equal a single GOE number for the element. That might even be too complex though... although I think it's easier and more beginner friendly than just seeing a bunch of GOE numbers and having no clue what they mean. This isn't the 90s anymore. I'd love to see a more coherent, new watcher friendly system, but there are things they can do in the meantime by showing real time scoring (or real time bullet highlights). The same could be done for step sequences... highlight the steps completed and if there is a debate or loss of level for them, it's easy enough for them to use a replay camera and highlight what went wrong or show the marks on the ice. Show what the program layout is on the screen before the skater begins. Just use the technology that's available! First things first though, they need to adhere to their own system. So long as judges are throwing out numbers that aren't substantiated by their own rule book, no one is going to fully understand things. It will either completely go over the heads of anyone new to the sport and continue to come across as unfair and biased to seasoned watchers. Figure skating is about far more than the 0.7 seconds that a skater is in the air and their immediate landing, but as it is now, that's all occasional watchers understand. And for PCS scores, that might as well be a number drawn out of a hat as far as occasional viewers are concerned. And the sad thing is, that perspective isn't totally wrong. If a skater gets a high TES score or has a program chock full of difficult elements, they get a high PCS score whether they deserve it or not. Things like Interpretation and Performance barely have anything to do with just landing jumps. You can also pull off a quad and not have good basic skating skills. Judges REALLY need to start treating PCS scores independent of TES. For example, skaters like Jason Brown shouldn't need a quad if their PCS scores were done properly. If skaters like Patrick Chan and Daisuke Takahashi were still active, they would hardly ever be at the top for PCS due to their unstable quads (Daisuke more than Patrick for quad instability) even though, again, their PCS SHOULD be near the top and above skaters who barely have transitions and just go from jump to jump. Heck, so many components are mandatory in such a small amount of time that it's so difficult just to see and enjoy a skater's basic skills and edge control, etc. Part of me is starting to think that the SP shouldn't contain jumps at all and should just be a display of control over the ice through basic skating, spins, spirals, and step sequences. Sorry for the long rant! The whackadoodle nature of the ISU Judging System and judges' inability to even uphold their own rules drives me crazy and it needs changing.
Kamilla will prob win gold but I don't believe she will be the one who rejuvenates figure skating on the world stage. I think it might be be Sasha. The red hair, the dogs, the music, the quads, that cantilever... perfect to catch the eye of new fans. I can already see her fs going viral at Beijing. It's like what King George said about Elizabeth and Margaret - Kamilla is Russia's pride but Sasha is their JOY!
Oh man as a Sasha fan that would be amazing!! I don't know any other fs fans in real life and most people I talk to about it are like "um, your favorite skater is Russian? Shouldn't you root for an AMERICAN???" It would be amazing if Sasha's program went viral among mainstream media, she's incredible. It seems like a similar thing happened with Gage and Oona Brown on a smaller scale, that first video of them by On Ice Perspectives is a big part of why I started getting invested in figure skating 😂
Sure, but Paola's criticism about the fact that Anna only got a spot at the Olympics because of the fact that the Olympic spots already had names are 100% valid. Anna did fall and she didn't have the ultra C elements during this competition that would send the winners to the Olympics. Her victory still rings hollow because she only got to the Olympics in the first place because of the inflated scores. That's a valid reason for people to tune her out.
1:20 No, Yuzu didn't win japanese nationals 6x in a row. Iirc he won 4x in a row (2012-2015) and Yuzu won again in 2020 and 2021. But still i'm so happy he won the national champion title again, especially considering he was injured and got sick in november
*not disagreeing at all but an additional note: he didn't compete in 2016-2018 due to injury. So except for withdrawal, it is his loss (silver) in 2019 that is the one that arguably broke his JNats streak.
Based on Anna’s flawed skating in the nationals, you thought she would get negative attention in Beijing. But then she skated great in Beijing, won fairly, and got zero attention… Poor Anna. Her losses may have been mitigated by over-scoring, but her wins are not even celebrated.
I think Yuzuru was nervous because he mentioned that he felt like crying, he knows he will retire soon and he said he doesn't know how many times he will be able to enjoy this scene and he wanted to give everyone a good performance. And literally everyone agrees that Yuzu's 4A is underrotated but people are screaming about it because he was training alone for 2 years and the difference between his WTT attempts and now is HUGE. He is so close, you can see how much he improved while training alone and it matters because 4A always felt like an impossible jump until now, seeing how close Yuzuru gets and how he improves, it feels very much possible now. And Yuzuru said he was sick and had fever and couldn't do anything so he practiced like crazy in the last 1.5-2 weeks to improve his 4A to the point that he can actually stay on his feet even if it's UR. So, yes, that's why it's a huge deal. The man won everything and he's 27 and he's trying to improve and we all have to appreciate that instead of pushing him to retirement (Western media I'm looking at you) because that's whole problem with this sport? Skaters' careers being too short and lacking longevity so why the hell do we tell a guy who is still going strong at 27 to quit??? I hope Shoma can stay competitive for a long time, too. We really need that. Like, hell, Javier won his Olympic medal at his 3rd Olympic, what a legend. I don't know, I wasn't really paying much attention to him this season but of course I wanted to see his new SP and there is something so special about seeing Yuzuru perform. Always baring his soul on the ice, always giving his all and holding nothing back, god-level skating skills, and his passion to continue to grow are incredibly inspiring to me. I will be rooting for him at Olympics I guess. Btw I am surprised to see that JSF sending Mana to Olympics, I genuinely thought they would go with Mai. Good surprise even though I'm a Mai fan (and I wanted her to be with her bff Kaori).
@@asianiewie9142 people did notice it’s brilliance. The judges too. They unanimously gave him 5.0 for his step sequence and he had a near perfect PCS of 49. Appreciation right there. 🥰
@@asianiewie9142 well, when you stood up on a 4A attempt, albeit UR and two-footed, no matter how much of a masterpiece the SP was, it wasn’t surprising that the 4A attempt was more talked about. 😅 But RonCap-chan was definitely the talk of the town for the entire time before the mens free event hahaha plus the costume!!!! 😍😍😍
It's kinda funny watching this video after Olympics and just Kamilia Valieva's falls and scandals and everything and then Anna winning Gold? And Kaori on the podium! crazyyyy
Firstly, NO skater should EVER be blamed for his or her scores. It is up to the judges - who and how to evaluate. Anna Shcherbakova is now receiving such a ton of hate that she absolutely does not deserve. Too quickly people switched from humanism to fake “justice”, too quickly they forgot with what heroism Anya won the Russian championship and the World championship right after having pneumonia.Yes, the events of last season remain in the past, but I am surprised by this courageous statement by Plushenko “Anya did not do a single quad in training”, when literally there is a video of Anya perfectly jumping a quad flip before the start of the championship 😂 It is the first time in TWO YEARS that Anya has lost a start. And what are y’all doing? Do you support, do you ask about her health and injuries, as you did with Aliona Kostornaia? NO. Everyone just hates Anya for what she is not to blame. Secondly, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, no matter how much I loved her programs, had three chances to get to the Olympics in her lifetime. And for some reason, all three years she took places from 7 to 4 at the Rusnats. What kind of scandals are being arranged now? Everyone forgets what a place in a figure skating competition consists of. This is the result of not only a free program but also a short program. Anya performed the short program incredibly - Tuktamysheva, Trusova and Petrosyan fell from jumps. Yes, something incomprehensible happened in Anya's free program, but this is not a reason to discuss her as if she had no right to make a mistake. (you guys have already figured out that hating a skater for her scores is a pure absurd). Thirdly, in terms of Sofia Muravyova’s deduction - did everyone forget how Elizaveta Tuktamysheva was fined in the same way when she drank water for too long and delayed the start of her performance last year? Here I see only the mistake of the judges - that they did not notice it right away. What do we end up with? The only ones to blame are the judges. And definitely not the crying, traumatized, again needing to prove her talent and hard work Anna Shcherbakova. For two years she won everything she could, so that now she would not have a moment of other people's sympathy.
No one blames Anna and anyone who does is gross but those judges are so bias and it shows. She’s always had bad technique rn she isn’t too consistent with ultra c elements and yet she does better than ppl who do have these skills. It’s distasteful that the judges are like this and it’s their fault completely never Anna’s
@@clairesinclaire6826 it's great that you understand that the fault lies only with the judges, because many other people do not. But the fact that everyone is now talking about Anya’s “luck” and the judges' “love” for Ana will not change anything in the world of FS. The judges, after all, have reasons to push Anya forward - she proved her competence with the three-time title of the champion of Russia and the reigning world champion. Lots of other skaters were overscored too - Kamila and Sasha, for example. It is a question of individual perception.
Actually Anna has never done a real quad, when 3/4 of the rotation are done on the ice then that’s not a quad but rather an over rotated triple jump. Real quads are yuzurus and Nathan’s and kolyadas, not Anna’s. So plushenko is right she technically didn’t jump a quad
Couldn’t agree more! Mean people, they attack a young girl that has always been consistent and wish that she gets injured 😵. It seems that many haven’t learn anything in this difficult years. They totally forgot the true spirit of sport.
@@toxic-low-key-ghost7934 oh yeah, let’s compare women’s quads with men’s quads, especially with Yuzuru’s 4A 😂 women started to constantly and successfully jump quadruples only a few years ago while men have been doing this for decades, and btw Anna was the first senior lady to land quad lutz and the first woman to land two quad lutz jumps in one program :)
I'm reading a lot of mean comments attacking a young girl that has always been consistent in her skating and wishing that she gets injured! 😵. It seems that many people haven’t learn anything during the pandemic. They totally forgot the true spirit of sport and empathy.
Totally agree about the insanity of attacking people. But what the hell does that have to do with the plandemic? It sounds like you're drinking the koolaid. For your own sake, spit it out!
@@janglass8219 you are saying that is wrong to attack people while your doing just the same. 😂 It bores me to have to explain to you what I mean when it is clear, we are going through difficult times to continue attacking each other, if you have not realize that, then I can do nothing. Happy new year! ✌🏽
Unfortunately, there's alotta stupid morons out there who somehow doesn't have the brain cells to realised Anna is just doing her job, which is perform for all of us, and that anything that happens after is out of her control,, Its up to the judges to decide whether she wins or not. The judges decide, they have the power. If people wanna blame anybody , they should blame the judges, not the 17 year old kid who's just doing what she's doing since she was a little girl.
All the hate on Anna for making the team, but now you can see why. She had all her skills ready on the backburner and was obviously ready for the Games.
I absolutely loved the two junior sofias, both their 3A and interpretation are so good and I love samodelkina's free and muraveva's short I can't wait to see some non eteri girls do well in seniors
We all be seeing as seniors but won’t be seeing them winning…Cruella’s camp will make everything in their power, like filing a complaint for Muravieva’s late start so Anna could be in second place at SP.
Even if she was healthy, she wouldn't stand a chance. But it would be great for her to go to 2026 Oly, although that's pretty much impossible too considering the era we're in
I always watch your videos and they are very funny, but, nobody, never, should desire somebody to be injured, especially int the case of this girls (they’re just girls, under 18 and this is just a sport…). After listen to what you said about Anna (hoping for a injure) i was very disappointed. It was very unnecessary.
Completely agree. It’s gross. I hope all these skaters can stay healthy no matter who makes it to the Olympics. Wishing injury on a skater is another level of toxicity.
Oh so am I .I stayed up all night because I wasn’t sure of the time and I think Liza came on about 3am my time. So sad for her. I think Plushenko has been rattling some cages about a skate off between The Empress and Anna but it won’t happen. However it is still a couple of months off and anything could happen. Anna doesn’t seem 100 % to me. Was really annoyed about Diana Davis too. Poor Tiffany in pairs Ice Dance was hard to watch too. She’s been so sick. Just hope at Olympics that Davis is scored fairly.😤🧐🧐🇦🇺
I adore Anna. The same way Zhenya got you into figure skating, Anna got me into figure skating. To me, the way she skates is so expressive and artistic. She skates like a dancer, and she actually uses her face when performing (unlike some Tutberidze girls). I'm overjoyed that she has a good shot at going to the Olympics, but in all honesty, her performance at Russian nationals was just not all that great. Stylistically, she was as beautiful as ever, but her technical elements were just not up to par. If she wants to prove to everyone why she deserves the Olympic spot and earn herself a medal, she needs to get her quads in order. She can maybe squeak by with a bronze with 2 clean quads and no 3A, but she'll need more than that if she wants silver (let's face it, she won't get gold). I'm really rooting for her, and I know that at her best she can truly earn the scores she's been receiving. I can only hope that she brings it for Europeans and the Olympics and proves to everyone that she was the right choice.
I fear she is injured more than we are being told , she seemed to skate with fear rather than freedom as she normally does , which made me think she is trying to protect her body from more injury , I could very well be wrong as it is just the energy I felt from her while skating
By "her quads", you mean her triples? I love her too, I adore her, but she's never done a true quad in her life. I encourage you to look in YT "Anna Shcherbakova pre-rotation" and see four yourself. Also, look comparative videos of her Flutzes (intended Lutzs that end up being Flips). Her technique is as poor as Medvedeva's was. Terrible technique, not only against all ISU's explanations of a good technique, but also, following EVERY explanation of the ISU itself of THE wrong technique. It's sad but it's true. I adore her, but she cheats and the ISU not only allows it against their own instructions, but rewards it. :(
I don't think she skated anywhere close to what we've seen from her and I'm not meaning the quads. I mean everything. There's something wrong with her, and I think the other commenter could be right about an injury holding her back. I'm sorry, but I can't see a miracle happening in 4 weeks, as much as I'd love to see it happen (for her).
@@anaespiral3265 The jumps that gives you points are true jumps. Shoma's, Grassl's, Samarin's, Aliev's (and many others) quads are the same as Anna's - if they give points as quads - then they are quads. Only points matters. If you are not agree with it - pls, attack those skaters first since they started to jump like this long before Anna. And when and only when those skaters begin to get less point for those jumps - - you have right to criticize Anna as being overscored,
@@SergejKrolik First of all, you have to distinguish between attacking a person and attacking what that person does o doesn't do. I'm not in any way attacking Anna, so that been said, your comment about attacking anyone is out of place. Secondly, we are here discussing the Russian Nationals in which Anna participated. I haven't seen those other skaters jump in the detail I've seen Anna. I tend to speak of what I know, unlike others who throw opinions of things they don't know, so allow me to talk of the things I want, in this case, the people's jumps I know. And thirdly, there's a thing called Freedom of Speech, why do you feel entiteled enough to tell me which right I have or I don't have to criticize whatever I want or to criticize other things first? I wasn't at all disrespectful or unpolite to no one in my fist comment and I used a good tone. I have to say I don't feel the samevibe in your. Sorry, but I'll continue criticizing what I want in the order I please. But thank you for showing me more skaters with bad technique, I'll do the same with them. When I want.
That moment when you dissed Anna Scherbakova for solid 20 minutes on this video, yet she becomes newly crowned Olympic champion and a gold medalist!!!!
Sure, but Paola's criticism about the fact that Anna only got a spot at the Olympics because of the fact that the Olympic spots already had names are 100% valid. @@irondragonmaiden You do realize winning national championship doesn’t guarantee your spot in Olympics right? The ROC can choose whomever they want to send to Olympic Games! U.S. Olympic Committee has done it many times in the 90’s and 2000’s when they chose 4th or 5th place holder rather than 3rd place holder! Even China has done the same this year in their ice skating team to include American born skater into their team. Of course they have favoritism and it is not fair, but that is just how it is! As far as concerning Anna Scherbakova, Russians made the right call to include her and absolutely the right girl got the well deserved gold medal. I wouldn’t want anyone except her to get the gold! She is pulls her weight when she needs to be, she is a true professional athlete!
@@MandkhaiTsetsen I also want to add that Anna is a 3 time Russian National Champion, 2021 World Champion, and a 2 time European Silver Medalist. She has an awesome resume right there. One rocky performance should NOT ignore her other achievements. We've all had our upset moments. I think if anyone has something to complain about, talk it over with the judges. All Anna can do is skate the best she can. That's all. And, she was brilliant in Beijing, two outstanding performances. She earned that gold medal. I'm so happy and proud of her
Even without bonuses, Shcherbakova would definitely rank higher than Tuktamysheva. This is simple arithmetic. Here's what Kovtun said: "Federation experts judge not only by competitions, they also go to training and see the training plan. Anya is probably a more stable athlete". I understand that many people like Tuktamysheva, but when Shcherbakova's merits are belittled without the slightest attempt to analyze the programs of both, it means amateurism or baiting.
@@MegLeb2010 Eh, she deserved to go more than anyone else (aside from Kami maybe). She definitely deserved to go more than Tuktamysheva who had no 3+3 combos and who hasn't won any major titles in almost a decade
Reminder that the heavy favorite for the Olympic Gold has never gotten gold in the past two Olympics. 2018 was Zhenya and Alina got it. 2014 was Yuna but Adelina got it (although that one…..). 2018 for men’s was Nathan and Yuzuru won. 2014 was Patrick and Yuzuru won again. Ice is slippery and yes, the ISU does seem like they’ve chosen their winner already, with the honestly, egregious scores Valieva receives, but anything could happen. But yeah your right about it probably already being predetermined…which is why I am so glad that Sasha made it, she’s the only one who in theory, can beat Kamila. I mean, if she lands everything cleanly, they can’t possibly justify not giving her that gold, so at least that’ll be interesting.
Thats not true¡¡ Medvedeva was not the heavy favorite, thats a big lie Zagitova won everything that year and many Russians including Yagudin and Plushenko bealive Zagitova was gonna win, even many skatings channel were given Zagitova as the favorite. SOO BIG LIE ABOUT THAT
@@vicserra2485 also nathan was not the HEAVYYY favorite, he was in the conversation but it was all about yuzuru and i bet 99% of people who were in the arena that night of the mens fs were there to watch yuzuru and not Nathan.
Although sherbakova was over scored her elements were more difficult she had more triple triple combos and Elizaveta has less difficult combos and less triple triple combos . And even with sherbakovas fall she had a higher base value so even though she was over scored she fairly beat Elizaveta
At some of kamila's jumps in nationals, I was a little scared of her axis, i think she was more stable in rostelecom in terms of jumps aside from that one combination near the end at that time
@@matthildamilito5962 i know, i watched it as well. It also happened to Yana Kudry, everyone thought she would automatically win, but Mamun din. Also alina kabaeva was not the favorite for gold at the time but she still won
@@aronhelios1734 She is a very good gymnast but she’s never topped them in the AA. Even during this cycle. She was impressive that day. They didn’t deliver as well as she did. The rest is history.
Yes. Yuzuru's 4A was underrotated. But he didn't fall. He frickin landed it. I don't want to sound like a mindless stan but he is FANTASTIC. I love him so much and wish him the best of health and lots of happiness alongside athletic success. He is one of a kind.
One moment that people don't get - Liza does not have a single 3-3 combo. And that she also got higher scores than usual. Trusova for example, have only 3-3 combos, I think. And she was the only top girl called for edges...like...as if she was the only one with the wrong edge.
Liza does have 3Lz-3T, she had it in FP in Rostelekom, she just chose to remove it and skate reduced content for her free to be clean. Which, after her bombing her short, is the reason she was not chosen for the Olympics. RusFed is always a big risk, big reward kind of game, and Liza shot herself in the foot by choosing to lower her own BV instead of throwing a quad or a more expensive combo and trying to catch up to the rest after losing points on 3A and botched spin in the short. Sure, her free looks fun for the layman and for fans, but when it’s so slow and the BV is so much less than the competition, is it any surprise she’s behind? Good narrative does not mean she has plot armor. Liza quite literally chose to not fight for the Olympics.
@@tatianar9429 I meant Nationals. Like yeah, shading Trusova who went and did unsafe routine for Liza is a no-no for me :) And I heard it a bit in the vid.
@@viktoria8189 I agree, shading Trusova when even in the short alone, yes, both her and Liza fell on their 3A attempts, but Sasha had every other element down perfectly, and her other jumping pass was an expensive 3-3, meanwhile Liza botched a spin, had a subpar 3-2 and lower complexity of each element overall. That’s not even touching on the free.
Paola, realistically remember it wasn't just Liza's 3A but both times Liza omitted the triple toe from her triple lutz combo so she was doubly screwed. I actually thought the scoring was pretty good except for Trusova's program components. But the right three people are on the team. Liza didn't bring it. And Anna had a lead on her from the short and didn't score taht much higher than her in the free.
I don't quite get all the hyping up of Liza. It's great that she's had a good season and she's doing well as an older athlete, but she had no triple triples in her free and her skating is too slow to be rewarded with good PCS at this level. She would have needed to make up a significant points gap to Anna, and I don't understand where those points could have come from, a bit of elevating of Anna's scores aside. Especially considering small things like Liza's loop instead of Anna's lutz, and Liza's spin issue at the end of her program. Those alone make up most of the points difference between the two skaters’ free programs.
I think that they are aware of this and don't really care. They wanted their queen bee to make the Olympics and if the judges say otherwise then they are guilty of bias 🤓
Except Yuma wasn't that consistent throughout the season, sure he won both his grand Prix, but remember that in Italy he was 7th or 9th after the sp, which was quite the disaster and then recovered with an amazing free to win. While in France he did good in the short and the first half of the free, in the second half he fell a few times, it was messy. This is not to say he isn't good, he is like top 5 in the world rightfully, but he is still working on a few things and that's fine he is young and hasn't been a senior for long. Honestly I think that compared to his grand Prix this was a better performance in average between short and free. I root for him
Both JNats and RNats were stressful but I feel like watching JNats was emotionally rewarding whereas RNats just made me feel stressed and confused and angry. BUT I will say Khud & Bazin had a beautiful program, I can't remember if it was their short or free, but one in particular was very moving. Boikova/Kovlovski's skates really were the best they have done this season!
You should never, ever, EVER say you'd be happy if someone (especially a minor) gets injured, under ANY circumstances. I don't care how "honest" you're trying to be, it's just plain wrong. You should take that comment out.
The commentators on TV go on about how impressive the girls for their age. But at this point, I’m less impressed by a 15/16 year old female skater than I am by a skater over 20. It’s clear that with the current Russian system, being young is an advantage and the medals will go to whoever happens to be at that peak age by the time the Olympics rolls around. Eteri breaks skaters. It’s a cycle that has happened time and time again and it’s frustrating to watch, especially with the way figure skating is covered in Russia. The media is happy to heap praise upon Eteri, while sweeping all the injuries and premature retirements under the rug. As long as she keeping winning, it won’t change.
@@turtlefeesh I agree, not only is she still out there, she’s still putting up competitive routines in the most competitive figure skating country in the world! She stands out both in terms of experience and age, but also confidence and charisma.
Please don't compare Trusova's quads and typical elements (as u said) with Tuktamysheva. They have totally different program and image. I like both of them, but this time Sasha had everything ( performance and technical score as she deserves ). neither overscored nor underscored, okayy,
36:28 I’m not a Scherba fan but something abt this doesn’t sit right with me. And also so different comments in this video seem a bit mean spirited like the one about Kolyada.
I don't think you can actually compare Trusova and Elizaveta, they are definitely not the same and they were not the same here. As much as I appreciate what Elizaveta is doing she is just not as strong in tes as Trusova is. A triple axel is great, no question about that, but quad Lutz oiler triple salchow is just out of this world and gives Trusova around 20 points even with minimum goe and let's not forget all the other quads that she has in her arsenal. In fact I was very sad when they were saying ahead of nationals that Tuktamysheva will be going instead of Trusova and were putting Trusova as an underdog. Trusova is never an underdog in any competition she skates. My main wish for her is obviously to stay healthy, but also I really want her to finally skate to her full potential and finally land that triple axel in the short and all her quads in the free (we know she can do that, she did land 5 quads at test skates). My hope clean skates for Trusova from now on.
For me a triple axel is as powerful as quad, Liza can land quads if you watch her training, Trusova sucks at 3A. I'm an ice skater and I can say when you jump forward is way more difficult than when you jump backwards.
@@Hithere-dl2cx Not in points though, in points a quad is worth more. And Sasha can land triple Axels too, just unfortunately not in competition yet. In fact she landed 3 triple axels in warm up. I hope she will finally do it when it matters, she deserves it. And also I don't know what happened to Liza here, but she had 0 3-3 combos in this competition, like none, that caused her quite a few points as well.
@@junglesuperstar9270 Not yet, she doesn't, but she has 4 different types of quads. I just don't understand how they keep getting compared, they are not the same. Even Valieva is not the same as Sasha, if Sasha ever skates clean both programs with all her content, she will be the champion. It's just like with Liza she has triple axel and she has quad toe but she only ever landed it in practice, so saying that she has that quad toe Is a bit excessive.
Yeah, but she can do them; she does a 3Lz-3T easily. Maybe she does the 3Lz+2A+Seq because its more stable.... and this season her triple axel has been remarkably consistent. I think the only one she actually fell on was the SP at RusNats.
35:32 I’m pretty sure Anya turned off people mentioning her (like in their story) after RusNats, which makes me sad, bc it’s probably because of all the hate she got
I feel Anna is the most talented of all the current Russian skaters and her Olympics performance proved it by winning gold. I skated as a kid and her performance was absolute perfection - all the elements were beautifully done. I really do not understand why you made such negative comments about Anna in this video. I must laugh knowing you look ridiculous in hindsight.
I literally hate how she speaks of Anna, of course it's your opinion and everything but it's disgusting how u refer of a teenager, as she said on one interview she does her job and judges do theirs, whether they have eteri bonus or not it does not give anyone the right to speak like this and of course not if you're rooting for her in the beginning, you saying "she doesn't deserve it" "the Shcherbs power of will should just be called over scoring" girl move on, I'm so so happy Anna showed everyone she earned that spot and you know what? That even if she didn't, she freaking nailed it!! You don't like her sp but plenty of people did, she did ultra C elements, she did a marvelous interpretation (also many people said it) did she get hate? Yes maybe a little, just as everyone. My point is DECIDE omg, she is not guilty of anything don't freaking take it on her, eteri is literally not forcing u to "hate" her so don't blame it on her, hate eteri but not Anna for God's sake, srly I hate this vid🤦🏼♀️
Why nobody is talking about how Valieva was overscored too (at least in the short program)? Her lutz wasn't a lutz, all of her jumps are in the first part of the program and she was given a higher goe than she should have on almost everything. it was not a 90+ performance but more of a 85-ish.
Because Valieva was overscored but her placement is right. Sasha was overscored but her place is right, Anna was overscored but her placement is NOT right, like usual. The most overscored skater of this quad.
@@Chastaken I know, but the judges were still full of themselves. Kamila was suppose to be first but not with world records, her short was "mediocre" and her free was better but not a 190+ score. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love her skating but her technique is from eteri.
@@yuvalhlevy yes I agree, I'm not a fan of her packaging, her jumps with the excessive prerrotation are mostly doubles and triples and the combos are awful but well. Most Eteri girls jumps this way, maybe Aliona and Sasha are the exception. I hope ISU start awarding good technique in the next quad, this way other women more talented than them can have a chance.
@@angieortizurena3327 it's really a downfall that medals are bought just for the satisfaction of the coaches and a vast majority of the Russian nation. Although maybe I'm biased because of UA-cam comments and there aren't that many Russians supporting Tutberitze after all.
@@vicserra2485 you can’t really compare figure skating to running though; when you race there’s (almost always) a clear-cut winner because they cross the finish line first. in fs, however, everything is up to the judges, so over scoring can become a huge issue
It's so surreal to watch your video and hear your opinions after knowing the results. It's definitely entertaining and a little sad. I hope all these girls go on to have happy lives.
You are saying Anna shouldn't win over Liza just because she didn't jump ultra-c elements while Liza did. The way you view it can be possible only for complete novices in figure skating. What exact elements are used means NOTHING. The SUM of elements value is what matters only - not type of elements it consists of. Anna's elements base value even WITHOUT ultra c are HIGHER than Liza's elements base value even with two triple axels. Or you can say it like that - Liza's 3A+2T is worth less than Anna's 3Lz+3T. Liza doesn't use 3A instead of cheap 2A - she uses it instead of expensive 3Lz+3T. That's her fault - not Anna's.
I agree with mostly everything, and I also feel sad for Tuktik BUT it's crazy that suddenly everyone acts like Anna has been bombing everything way more than she actually has, and the empress really deserves to go over her. Anna's quads haven't been looking good, but she's still been landing the quad flip, prerotated or not. Tuktik does have a 3A but she doesn't even have a 3+3 combo. And the thing is, Anna has been consistently outperforming Tuktik. Yes, maybe her scores are inflated, but the important here thing to realize is Tuktik has been doing more or less her maximum whereas Anna has not been. So her potential BV is much higher than Liza. PLUS Anna is 3x Russian Champion and reigning World Champion. So no, there are many arguments for why Anna deserves to go to the Olympics, and it's insane that the 3x national champion and the World champion suddenly has to "prove" herself because of one bad skate and a couple jumps that may have gone better in the entire season. edit: typo
The thing is, even though Anna gets over scored at international competitions, it is not THIS much over scoring. It is risky to send a girl who only made one quad and fell, instead of sending Liza who has showed all throughout season that she can make three triple axels. Also, Anna looks injured and on the verge of breaking apart :( Liza is the secure (and DESERVED) card. If Wakaba and Kaori nails their programs again, they both have a good chance of beating Anna if she skates like this. The Russian Federation isn’t even doing what is best for Russian figure skating anymore, they’re doing what is best for Eteri…
Both Wakaba and Liza do a few doubles and their layout base value is not remarkable even with tripple axels. Thus Wakaba is not a threat. And so is Liza to Anna who has higher base value with only tripples than Liza with trixels.
@@nikitashaitan9984 If Liza had done two 3-3 combos, one in the second half, she would have had a much better chance. Anna's 3Lz3Lp saved her ass big time in the second half even with the error. People forget just how big money makers the 3-3 combos are now that quads are a thing. Look at Sasha. She attempted all those quads in the free and still did a 3-3 combo in the bonus half for points.
Sasha fell on her 3A in the shorts yes - that is the ONLY similarity she has with Liza so please stop saying that Liza fell her in her 3A like Sasha did in a way that makes it seem that Sasha and Liza's programs are the same. Liza has no QUADS Sasha landed 3 one of them was a combo. I am so frustrated everytime Sasha is mentioned with Liza.
All Anna does is win championships. The only real class out of that Russian Olympic circus was Anna sitting alone surrounded by the meltdowns. Glad she wasn't one of the coaches favorites.
Paola PLEASE don't say or imply that you wish skaters would get injured, it's such an awful thing to say 😭 These are kids who have probably been put through very unhealthy training methods for most of their life, if they get serious injuries that could have been preventable then it is a failure of their coaches and of the sport. Yes it's very unfair judging and it's frustrating, but it's not Anna's fault that she's overscored, and I know you know that. Please don't say that you wish for people to get injured, it just adds to the cruel behavior that is already so common among some other figure skating commentary channels. I love your channel and your videos are a huge part of the reason why I got into figure skating, so it's very disappointing to hear you say things like this
I still don't understand this idea that Valieva does impossible things on the ice. It reminds me of commentators going around how Zhenya was changing the sport when she never even tried a triple axel or a quad and was winning everything due to Russian bias. I'm not saying Kamila's no impressive, but I just don't see this uniqueness, is it the fact that she's often off axis or just the sheer lack of actual combos?
Justyna Look at her triple Axel how many girls can do triple Axel she jumps it easily even with ribbon, even trusova and liza struggles a lot not to mention her presence she,s just like Usain Bolt many can try beat but only injury can stop her
@@Koki1897 she literally just debuted her senior season this season. I would say impressive jumps but presence nah she is definitely a skater with great potential but I won't compare her to usain bolt 🤡
Watching your video in 2024 and hearing your comments on Anna and Kamila is WILD, "she's going to change the face of the sport forever" well I mean, she kinda did and I"m worried for Anna at the Olympics, she did ok, i'd say lol
I'm amazed that the Russian female skaters of Eteri have such long hair. She seems so focused on their weight. That long hair weighs more than short hair. Surprised she let's them keep it.
Tuktamysheva had bad lay out. She had 3-2 in short, 2x 2A in free, jump sequence that reduces 25% base value and no 3-3 combos. Her programs are worth as much as Daria Usacheva’s programs. So the way she placed behind Anna, who had 10 points more base value, IS still FAIR.
I agree. Usually Tuktamisheva gets a lot of points in the SP with a 3A and then does a very clean free and that's how she achieves a very good result in general. Her problem in the programs is mainly in TRs. This time didn't happen, maybe bc she was nervous or tired, so it didn't work out. Still an amazing fighter.
she didn't speak down she just praised other's Scherbakova objectively shouldn't be 3rd but that's not her fault so she didn't say anything bad about her
I appreciate everything you do and mostly I agree with you, but it seems that you’ve never been in professional sport(and it’s not a bad thing). a professional sport is about “faster, stronger, higher”, not the “someone deserves it”. all of the girls deserve to be at the olympics, because they’ve put a hell of the effort to be there they are. I admire Liza and I cheer for her on every competition, but she does not have ANY 3+3 combinations. it’s a madness to send her to the olympics with this type of content, because every country wants MEDALS, not performances out of “deserved” one. Liza had an amazing career, but she lost her chance when she was younger.
Exactly! For example, I can’t really enjoy Anna, just because of how unfairly she is scored compared to others. I think she’s a lovely skater, with a lot of talent, but I just can’t agree with her scoring, especially during this nationals.
If her scores weren't inflated in this competition, then she wouldn't have podium and therefore she wouldn't have gone to the Olympics in the first place. That's a valid reason to be angry and to just not care
I love Anna so much. It started a couple years ago when I was at work and decided to catch the end of a competition. Being a Russian female FS fanboy, I had heard of Anna but hadn't seen her yet because she was coming from juniors. When I saw her she was TOO young but SUPER charming and professional. She was smiling and she looked grateful and happy. She was my new favorite. As she got older I knew I would eventually develop a crush. But since the Olympics it's on...she is now the the most charming sweetest beautiful woman ever lol.
It’s rather selfish when you are questioning the point of sending the top Russian girls to the Olympics because they are guaranteed to win and therefore it’s not interesting. It is first of all an event for them and for their hard work to pay off. I understand your point about Anna, but I didn’t get why you brought up Sasha and Kamila there. I’m sure you didn’t mean to sound selfish, but that phrasing just came across that way.
i think this diana davis stunt might cost russia their ogm in the team event, especially if kolyada continues to flop. idk if the ladies and pairs can carry the team, especially with japan edging closer.
Few words about Anna: yes, she has less international fans, but her fanbase here, in Russia, is huge and way bigger than Sasha's and Alyona's. Anna has got HUGE sponsorships with Sberbank(the main bank in RU), mirpay (ru ver of Mastercard and Visa), and she got it before the RusNat. She just couldn't not going to the Olympics with all this contracts because it means that they invested in the person who isn't even on Olympic team. Anna has the personality that the Russian people at their 40's and 50's like - modesty, intelligence, not speaking her mind, willpower. And she makes common viewers aged 40-50 (not fans of fs) watch TV bcz 'ah, such a sweet and talented girls'. On the other hand, the more u speak your mind the less you attract the audience grown up at USSR. That's why Kosto is so attacked by media
@@Stressed_Geologist as Russian a 100% confirm it. Our "mamas" love those silent workhorses. "Work to death and smile, never show your passions" is their motto. Lots of haters man
i was so relieved when yuzu skated the nationals that i cried, i have no idea what i'll do when he retires
I guess you'll call me a hater, but let me express my opinion
The 4a is an incredible feat of athleticism and everyone agrees its a big deal but what we saw was downgraded and 2 footed. I don't see why and how that should be celebrated as though he landed it. If it was Ur i would say different.
And everyone, even shoma and nathan fans were praising him for his stamina and the fact he went clean for the rest of the free skate
Also no, i disagree with your comments on scoring, maybe yuzu should have got a couple more points in pcs here or there, but imo his placements have always been correct (even gpf & worlds 19 where he poped and missed jumps and nathan was better)
Also i agree with he should be as big as jordan or Ronaldo, but those guys also exist(ed) along with other superstars who also pushed the sport. In mens in fs we have nathan who pushes technical and his more hip hop mordern style, jason for his artistic style that he's developed with Roheen and then theres shoma, yuma, etx + other disciplines
And as for the future, we're seeing it with illia, yuma, mark, Kao, etc.
@@kara1460 lmao, knew the fanyus would give me a response lke this. You don't have any valid points so call me jealous
I like trusova a lot but she has been in a downwards descent in the last few months/year
Yesss!!!😃🥰
@@Stressed_Geologist but Nathan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu, you don’t like either of them?
@@Vladi0310 lol I love them, Yuzu is my favorite male skater and I admire Nathan's quads! What did I say that would make you think I didn't like them?
Why they wanted Anna at the olympics? Because she's a world Champion and figther. And oh, now she is Olympic Champion. LEGEND
She was perfect at the Olympics.
Most of the videos from this channel are not factually correct
Anna was the highlight of this Olympics
I mean she was only perfect in the absence of Kamila.

Too quickly people switched from humanism to fake “justice”, too quickly they forgot with what heroism Anya won the Russian championship and the World championship right after having pneumonia.Yes, the events of last season remain in the past, but I am surprised by this courageous statement by Plushenko “Anya did not do a single quad in training”, when literally there is a video of Anya perfectly jumping a quad flip before the start of the championship 😂
It is the first time in TWO YEARS that Anya has lost a start.

Although sherbakova was over scored her elements were more difficult she had more triple triple combos and Elizaveta has less difficult combos and less triple triple combos . And even with sherbakovas fall she had a higher base value so even though she was over scored she fairly beat Elizaveta
At some of kamila's jumps in nationals, I was a little scared of her axis, i think she was more stable in rostelecom in terms of jumps aside from that one combination near the end at that time
Ik I was so surprised when she landed that 4S

anyway now ilia has it clean lmao
Well. Good thing Anna went. Since… ya know…. She won. And Russia had a whole statewide doping scandal. What do you mean? 😂😂😂
One moment that people don't get - Liza does not have a single 3-3 combo. And that she also got higher scores than usual. Trusova for example, have only 3-3 combos, I think. And she was the only top girl called for edges...like...as if she was the only one with the wrong edge.
Also she is very slow and has little ice coverage.
@@tatianar9429 Liza has been bomb all season though, and is currently in the top 3 in the world since world's this year, so there's that.. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s so disrespectful
This is why it hurts me so much to see Liza not making the Olympics this year. She stood the test of time.
I like both of them, but this time Sasha had everything ( performance and technical score as she deserves ). neither overscored nor underscored,
okayy,
I'm so glad I found your channel! Nobody in my life understands my emotional commitment to this sport either.

I’m not a Scherba fan but something abt this doesn’t sit right with me.
And also so different comments in this video seem a bit mean spirited like the one about Kolyada.
Anna is Olympic gold
@@lenavinogradova950 basically Sasha does not have any competitive triple axel
@@junglesuperstar9270 Not yet, she doesn't, but she has 4 different types of quads. I just don't understand how they keep getting compared, they are not the same. Even Valieva is not the same as Sasha, if Sasha ever skates clean both programs with all her content, she will be the champion. It's just like with Liza she has triple axel and she has quad toe but she only ever landed it in practice, so saying that she has that quad toe Is a bit excessive.
Lol after the Olympics, this is gold😂😂
Tuktamisheva didn't have a single 3-3 combination in both short and free programs, and that was the reason she was behind Trusova y Anna
Yeah, but she can do them; she does a 3Lz-3T easily. Maybe she does the 3Lz+2A+Seq because its more stable.... and this season her triple axel has been remarkably consistent. I think the only one she actually fell on was the SP at RusNats.
The Japan: Disney princess and prince on the ice
The Russia: Kardashain is here everyone, here's the drama.
it's funny how you kept hating on Anna Shcherbakova and she literally won the gold medal at the olympics
She was no different than many others back then and even now there are still people complaining about her gold, like excuse me but wtf?
35:32 I’m pretty sure Anya turned off people mentioning her (like in their story) after RusNats, which makes me sad, bc it’s probably because of all the hate she got
Wow, that's a long video. I like it
Shoma skated while injured in nationals, so i'm just happy he had performed relatively good 😂
I feel Anna is the most talented of all the current Russian skaters and her Olympics performance proved it by winning gold.
@@ifyouseekamy2134 yes that too!

Also, Anna looks injured and on the verge of breaking apart :(
Liza is the secure (and DESERVED) card.
Except Anna triple triples give her much more points than Liza’s
Anna vs Liza: 9 to 0
I agree, but I think Anna’s edges aren’t being called and that she might have some under rotations
She landed two 4Lz in combination :) 1eu 3S and 3T. Just for this Liza had to jump two 3A and two 3+3 combinations clean.

Her victory still rings hollow because she only got to the Olympics in the first place because of the inflated scores.

And it's not even close. Her beauty, both in body and in personality, is just indescribable
