Driving the Lamborghini Jalpa and Comparison to the Countach

- I was at a car show with my Countach this weekend and another red on red Lamborghini was there. A Jalpa! I was also able to drive it for a short period, which I had not expected! The Jalpa has a 3.5 liter V8 while the Countach has the 5.2 liter V12. Both are amazing cars.

Funny... I drove both my Countach and Jalpa today.. The Jalpa is alot of fun, super easy to drive, tons of room inside, sounds great. The Countach is infinitey faster and feels far more substantial and robust. One thing thats suprising to me is the publics reaction to the Jalpa. They go crazy for it .
@@allanfiedler9645 thanks for the input! Do you happen to know what the gearing is in your Jalpa? The 133 mph top speed limited by gearing seemed so low.
@@MarksHouseofCars-js4vo The Jalpa has a very long 5th gear and will do around 148mph.. Its lower gears are very short... I think it does around 85mph in 3rd.

The most recent one was good until it abruptly ended like they ran out of money to finish.
If given a spoiler I would pick the Jalta look over the Countach. Most cars just looks better with spoilers IMO - the DeLorean in particular could do with one.
I agree they look much better with a spoiler. And the countach looks amazing with or without one
@@MarksHouseofCars-js4vo The Countach is a tiny bit too 80s square for me, and not enough 80s neo-Art Deco. My favourite (after the ¬1980 US 911 Targa+Turbowing and C3) is the Testarossa - without a spoiler!
@NorthWay_no I've never thought of it as square. In fact it's got the same curves as the yalpa on the underside, and back and most the lines have subtle curves.
I know everyone says Yalpa, and that goes all the way back to the 80’s. But considering Lambo’s tradition of naming cars after Spanish bullfighting stuff, realistically it’s always been Halpa. Yalpa would be a German pronunciation. Halpa would be Spanish. Seems to me it’s time we start saying it correctly.
I think part of the problem is that Yalpa sounds cooler than Halpa and is easier to say. While maybe not technically correct it evolved into what it was for a reason.
On a side note, what would the spelling be if it was pronounced yalpa and spelled correct?
I mean unless the people in the bullfighting industry say yalpa, which is always possible if Jalpa was a german word or something, or if there was some backstory. But otherwise I think we’re just butchering the language for no reason. Like calling spicy peppers yalapenos, or calling anyone named Jose, Yosay.
On how to spell Yalpa, we’d have to ask a native spanish speaker but I assume either Yalpa or Llalpa.
