  • Thank you to those of you who asked for another walkabout vlog style video. This one has me taking you along on a short wander of our immediate neighbourhood close to home here in the south of Mexico City.
The main road close by is called Canal de Miramontes. It can be a busy route from here to the local Metro station at Taxquena and a quick ride from there straight to the Zocalo station and the historic centre.
Miramontes is a mainly residential area and belongs within the alcaldia of Coyoacan.
Walk with me past VIPs, Walmart, Pemex, CitiBanamex, BP, DHL, Santa Clara, Banorte, Office Depot and Sanborns. Those are the few national outlets. The vast majority of places here are small family shops, cafes and restaurants. Every Wednesday and Saturday we have local street markets for the best of fruit, veg, meat, clothes, toys, chocolate and stationery.
I popped into OfficeDepot to ask if they would let me film stationery items and it was a big 'NO'. I might just film next time while I am browsing and shopping there for my notebooks.
Leaving Miramontes after ZapaMundi (shoe world) and the TOKs restaurant, (good for when you need air conditioning and endless coffee refills, we turn onto Calle Piramide de la Luna.
Here we walk past one of my favourite cafes, El Chiapaneco, and wander to the far end of the street, passing a neighbourhood garden and arriving at the restaurant 'Lo Que Quiso Mi Madre'. All of this in time to catch up with the regular Sunday brunch and dancing!
I had included another 10 minutes of the dancing, but for music copyright reasons had to massively cut these to comply with the rules.

Thanks Nic, for taking us on a trip along your neighbourhood, so we can get an idea of where you live.
Nice neighbourhood by the looks of it, I could get quite used to living there too.
I have already been to Mexico in the past, namely the Yucatan tour was just beautiful in terms of nature.
Then also been to Cancun, there were serious waves there, but beautiful was still in full expansion, it must be completely built up by now.
And then Mexico City I went too.
They were wonderful trips and pleasant memories.

Nick, this was absolutely great!! Thanks so much for taking us on a journey around your neighbourhood; it was so very interesting to see how life is there. Music pretty much constantly playing is lovely; my Italian wife absolutely loves that, and we regularly listen to Spanish and Italian radio over here in the UK. Great to see the places/cafes you record videos from; loved seeing the dancers at the end - really excellent video. THANK YOU!!

@@tishbouvier It is a great little place for delicious food. The addition of the dancers on Sunday at midday is a super additional benefit. We'll take you there one weekend when you are here

Very interesting video Nick, seems like a very peaceful neighbourhood. Have you travelled much around Mexico at all?

@@Dave-zn3gf Evening Dave. Yes, various towns and cities around the country recently. We often travel to Oaxaca to be with family there.
