- Slow start... But NOW it's TIME to get this almost 1/2 MILE runway completed.
Get ready for an amazing journey to completion. This runway project is going into full swing starting 2023. After talking with Jimmy @therealjimmysworld this project will be now be a series on my channel. Honestly, sharing it will bring a bit more motivation during the cold weeks.

Remember to grease everything you can ever time you go to work on it. It’s easier to knock the dirt from the tracks at the end of every day you’ve worked on it especially in the frozen times of the year

Looking forward to getting back at it in a couple days. I sure hope the old excavator will hang in there! I do have the J3 "Spare Parts" back for a few months in my hangar. A friend of mine owns it now, but I'm still covered to fly it.

I’ll set the camera on a small tripod next time. I couldn’t shoot ether, hold camera and crank the starter all at once. 🙃 Good point, it sure will help when it’s cold!
Are there any FAA approvals or wind studies required?
You actually don't have to get any approvals to land on your own property. However, un happy neighbors can cause issues or a tower of some sort could be erected. I only have a few close neighbors and all enjoy watching me fly. But I'm looking into getting approval just to be covered in the future.

I have an excavator, dozer, etc. and do a fair amount of clearing/cleaning up for firewood, etc. Just a few thoughts to add to the mix:
Please wear safety glasses. I didn't for years, saw a video where a guy lost an eye from a simple oops and have since. As you know, push on a tree, tension, reposition and the tree springs back. Can send branches and such toward you. Can't say I've "needed" safety glasses, but not gonna take the chance.
I notch/pie cut bigger trees, don't back-cut and then push them over. Gives me more control of where they fall, branches don't come down on the cab, etc. Can do several at a time, clear the area and come back to deal with the stumps.
My dozer throttle has frozen on occasion. Silicon spray like chain lube seems to do better than WD40. Have used hot water and a space heater at times.
If you do a lot of work in below freezing, keep an eye on mud in your tracks. My first winter with the dozer, thought it was a beast and would just knock frozen dirt out of the tracks. Nope. Wouldn't budge and thought the trans went out on it. After a couple days with hammer/chisel/frozen fingers, learned a lesson.

Awesome project! Congratulations on a great start. I would consider making that culvert at least 10 feet wider on each end.
I wanted to go the full 100’, however it was tough to get the permit for 60’ with the county. They wanted no more than 40’ at first. It’s a township ditch and they have to be able to clean it out if needed.
I hope you got a smoking deal on it, I would think you could bought something for reasonable money made in this century!🤣 Cudos to you though, if you can run learn to run an old machine with all the levers, you'll appreciate a newer machine with joysticks! And grease is your friend, especially on the boom.
$3,000 to purchase and some cylinder work as of now. 🤞 Thanks for the comment and tip! I’ll grease and oil some areas often.
Try to refrain from digging on bare shanks, they may end up too worn to hold the teeth and need to be replaced. As a mobile welder I do this job often and it isn’t cheap.
Yes 👍 I’ll be getting those taken care of soon. Unfortunately, I think a couple are almost too late. I’ll need a good welding job to install a couple right now.

Put a counter in the excavator and count every tree you knock down!

I live in NY and that additive if it's diesel 911 doesn't work as well plus kerosene does the same and you get more for your money just a helpful tip love the videos brother
