OMG... God bless her. She has such a positive attitude, really inspirational. She doesn't complain, she left her husband and she is happy on her own. I have so much respect for this woman. She is not a victim, she is a survivor... Power to Dee... Image how her home look like... She is one strong woman!!!!
I am a female truck driver in Europe. I have 5 weeks holidays per year and the rest of the year I spend in the truck. I just bought Chrysler Pacifica from the USA, it’s still in the port of New Jersey, but it will travel to Europe soon 😂 When I get it, I will fix it and turn into a mini van camper, so I can live in there. And it’s ok, it’s important, that I have a roof over my had and a full stomach.
SHE DEFINITELY NEEDS A VAN. IT WOULD HELP HER SO MUCH!!! Even the restroom situation would work out so much more easy in a van. I pray that this precious soul will be blessed very soon with one!!!🌹
Oh after my husband passed away, our landlord couldn't wait till I got his insurance check because I was going to offer to buy the house we'd lived in for 5 years, so what did he do? He raised my rent by $65.00, which I couldn't at that time afford, so family helped me move my stuff to my mom's garage & spare room & I went & bought a tent & lived at the campground for a month. I had to stay in the local area to handle business & get the mail. So I bought me a small cottage by putting down 20% & fianicing the rest & at that time I only had my disability check to live on, 4 more payments & the house is all mine. YAY!!
This lady actually amazes me. Most folks her age don't like messing with youtube. She grabbed that bull by the horns and made it submit. You live your life lady! My hats off to you!
Wow she’s a brilliant, resilient woman! If she was in the corporate world or in politics she’s the kind of woman who would get things done and make things happen!!
I am ex military and let me tell you this women is a Super servivor. She is extremely determined. I am so proud of her. A perfect example of willing to live ❤️👏👏👏👍🏽💪
My mom is living in her car as well in az, since apt rent went to $1500.00. I pray for her safety ever day and night. She likes better then staying in our house in bedroom. She says it's peaceful in park. I would love to build a small tiny home community for elderly women who are homeless and I know many that are 65 older. How do I go about doing so 🤔 any idea? Maybe nonprofit organization for elderly woman in need to stay safe traveling or just in certain areas each city. Thxs Aim
@@pathawkins5218 why isn't it humane??? She wasn't in the car 24/7 and I'm sure that dog would rather be by her side, wherever she may be then anywhere else in the world! Trust me that dog has an awesome home, wants for nothing, if anything is spoiled!!!!! I have a high energy cattle dog who has lived with me in minivans and a car, we are in an RV now but my dog has great life with me. It's not cruel or inhumane in any way!!!
As a 50 year old victim of CA housing prices I made the brave choice of living in my truck. Got a remote job paying $1000 a week, saved, saved, and saved. I now own 15 houses throughout the Midwest and still enjoy living in my truck . 🙂
Dee is a true survivor and trooper. I would love Bob to do another video of her and how she doing now, five years later. I hope she is doing well, bless her.
She is very organized she has. mostly all the things she need to be comfortable. She has great Spirit. God Bless her. Wish her well.I think she is amazing.
This woman is intelligent organized and extremely resourceful and content. I hope she can keep this up for as long as she wants to. I wish her good luck and Gods blessings. She deserves both.
Oh I admire and love this lady! She is So brave, resilient and creative. Such excellent advice and information from her and you! One day I hope to be able to do this too! Trying to find a used Burro or Scamp. I think my Nissan Versa Note may be able to pull it?!
Everything is not for everybody..if u are disabled- make sure you are ready for this and not making your situation worse. Don’t let social media encourage you to do something that’s detrimental
Oh nice! That's mine to. Unless it's sentimental it's all on the list. I live on a sailboat. I don't feel bad for this lady. I would imagine she's on a trip to find herself again. These comments on UA-cam arnt the fist time she's heard she can get help. It seems like she's proud of what she's doing. 🍻
+Bobby Sue, I think you're right. Some may not have heard her say she has to live that way for awhile, "and I don't feel bad about it." Also, there are some who advise her to save her marriage. Good grief!
Deshauna Harper as much as I admire her for making things work for her situation but shouldn't the government step up and help it's elderly generation instead of sending money to dictatorship governments? I am an African and honestly know the money end's up at the wrong hand's,keep it and look after your own people as these dictators are millionaires.
Yeah everybody complains about people being on Social Security we don't get very much it's really hard living especially when a person has health problems
What an industrious person. I'm glad she is out of an abusive relationship and figuring out how to do it on her own with what she has. Best of luck to Dee.
I feel bad reading some of the comments - she is probably happy for the first time in a long time. She is surrounded by other people who can help and give advice. It's awful when you are sitting in a room paying rent and sitting up worried at night if she can pay rent next month. Good for her.
Hats off to Dee. This was so encouraging! I also live on pretty low Social Security, and own an even older model vehicle than yours, plus live with several medical problems. I’m an artist and cat owner too, so it’s really encouraging to me that you have found room for both your pet and your creative activities. I really appreciate all the detailed info about the bathroom, water, heat, power, cooking and storage arrangements. I’ve watched more than a few videos about “van life,” have been seriously discouraged by the cost of even the smaller vehicles and the skills required for the builds. Having seen you and your car, I might actually be able to make a nomadic lifestyle work for me. Thanks, Bob, for appreciating less usual solutions and particularly for showing this one.
Social security is paid out to how much you put in.... And it's a pretty simple formula and it works.. to be a free lance business owner.. best be sure that you're set for the future that comes up..the safety net can only be so big
Yes to Susan. Living on "pretty low social security" is not an issue. High income is for the extravagant. One hundred dollars is a month supply of food from e.g. Dollar Tree. Twenty dollars gas is good for two weeks when you don't run around uselessly all day. Clothes are cheap at Goodwill. You keep sanitation in proper order... clothes, shoes, clean car etc, without showing off and you're fine. The rest of your social security goes to your bank savings. When you've built up enough on that extra, move up to a more comfortable car or van. You'll be surprised as you learn the very basics of needs is all you need. Your high flying friends, a palace, a limousine etc. are not necessity. Instead, feed your stomach (food and water), feed your brain with good info on how to care for body aches and pain. Medicine helps numb but physicality builds you up against any weather. Worry and concern must not be in your thoughts. Find that safe place in town to stay at, eg. your mom's driveway etc. And live free. Recall that your great grand parents in the old west live in tents in all inclement weather and situations and sorroundings. So much sermons can be said but it boils down to simplify life, like this heroic lady.
For an American, a child of the wealthiest society/country in this planet, there is no reason for her (Dee) or any other humans to be left to the mercy of such dire existence. Can the whole society not see that, in general, poverty, begarism and stark homelessness is a social disease exceeding the ranks of COVID, SARS, EBOLA, etc. Exceeding! Are we not ever ashame that while our society is looked at by all nations of our planet earth with awe and respect, the only fighter against oppression, most willing to send it's children to war and in harms way for that reason of human life protection, dignity and advancement, are we not ashame that within us, inside us we have this unnecessary disease that is as easily curable as a common headache. Homelessness, while truly all the homeless peoples in the USA are awesomely portraying the very American spirit of courage in the middle of the mightiest storm, homelessness is easily curable. But for the strangest reason, this vileness of inhuman condition is romanticized. We choose to leave it as it is it seem so we can write a ballad that will make us cry. Is this what the founders of our society had in mind? We need to stop ignoring the implementing of the simple cure. These, our very family members (our father, mother, brother, sister, sons and daughters) are moment by moment trying their very best to also partake of the good American Life. However, they have lost hope of having someone to guide them out of this storm. Are we, America, going to simply continue to allow this dark human condition to be? What about you? We protest in mass to force a change and are always successful. We became the USA by protesting against England. How long do we wait? I suppose until we become evicted from our normal home. Remember now, "homeless" is defined in todays dictionary as a "life in fear, hunger, uncertainty, harassment, hopelessness and reviling from our used to be loved ones". What if for the same reasons you are suddenly cast out as such, all your anchors disappears. It takes one tragic event to find ourselves wrapped by this "disease". Help! Tell the world how to cure this social malady. Your genius could be the cure. You can be an instant hero, an instant celebrity who saved a man, woman or child from this calamity. Help! Surviving in the streets of the USA is in un-American. Yes, we had the Gypsies in the past. But they lived in lavished wheeled houses (fifth wheelers now motorized). They chose that lifestyle. But today's homeless is sending every American in affluence a strong message "help us, we don't know what to do".
Bob Wells shares these presentations so tactfully and respectfully. This sweet lady shows us strength and courage. God bless her. My admiration is definitely on her.
Georgene Roselles ~ and doesn’t seem terribly unhappy. She should be proud of herself. Most crawl into a bottle. No judgment, I was on that path myself but I got it together. Thanks in a very large part to Bob Wells and the testimony of these wonderful, resourceful people. ❤️
She made her car, a four door sedan, into the equivalent of a mansion. She made so much room in there! Very resourceful! That was impressive to watch. I hope she and her little dog stay safe on the roads.
@@el-maiki Einstein, the way in which she made her car very resourceful was my reference to a “mansion”. Of course people like yourself who are shallow can’t see past the pooping in a bucket. Because for her age how she made her car work for her was impressive and most importantly, she was happy. Weird how you know about her life’s update. Yet, was more focused on her restroom situation. You’d think you would have moved on.
I take my hat off to this incredible, brave, smart, ingenious, courageous woman. I love cute little Dolly! Hope someone sees this video and buys her a van.

$10 dollar a month 24 hour gym membership for showers and restrooms. 15-25 cent soups with 1$ gallon of water a day. Public places like libraries, malls, museums, etc to help waste time. Or get a job that doesn't affect your monthly check and spend your time there. It's not as hard as most might think, I did it for almost 2 years.
Most cars don’t have cigarette lighters, she’s lucky she does. I wonder if there isn’t another woman in age group who might want to share an apt with her. My goodness, 68 yrs old and can fix a car. Love her attitude, after all she's been through...she's definitely a 'soldier of life'. Blessings and health to her, on her journey. 💚
This is how pioneers lived (without a car), they slept in their horse drawn wagons. When I was young I lived in my van for 2 years due to Vietnam PTSD. It took me that long to recover enough to try and put down roots in an apt. The experience was liberating and gave me time to work through issues without folks interferring where they just had no idea what I was dealing with. It can be done and any who are put upon in this life can do it too.
Thank you so much for your comment. I really hope you are doing OK now. And healing from the awful ptsd. I don't have ptsd from being in a war, (I can't imagine) but I do have a lot if cptsd from childhood, bad marriage, and the last 2 1/2 years being homeless, and care broke down in the meantime, and dealing with debilitating chronic health conditions at same time. Ptsd from being physically attacked last year, etc. I am having a tough time (even with therapy), dealing with people who, like you said, don't understand why I deal with things the way I do, the freeze response to stress, hypervigilance, nerves being on fire most if the time, etc. I just was able to acquire a cheap van, and thought being on the road, living in my van camping, etc, will give me quiet time to do some healing. I'm 63 and some think I'm crazy for doing this as a woman. I've seen numerous videos of women my age and older doing the van living thing. I'm getting my van ready, as cheap as I can as (I live on ssdi), and as easy as I can as my physical strength has left me the past 3 years. Thanks again for sharing
I think she is quite admirable. She took a difficult situation and turned it around by being creative and innovative. Most important...she looks happy.

try getting some cheap wool blankets and form a low tent structure from 2-4 blankets (40 bucks at harbor freight?)( wash them first if you can) bind them together so you have airspace between you and the blanket/tent structure (a canopy would be ideal) probably an air mattress would work to lay on and if can lay that on another wool blanket....when not in use make it so you can just raise it all up and strap it to the inside top of canopy with bungy cords or disassemble if needed........ you can get a good wool blanket to cover with and be comfortable.(150-300$) if you can..The tent structure should be full sides and ends with probably a small vent (hole) or not at the top and only enough airspace between you and the outside so you are comfortable ...... No I haven't tried it yet..But I'm getting close and that's what I'm going to do....Maybe you could even fab the tent structure around the front seat if needed to..

i would like to see; more homesteading for Americans. Like live on a piece of land, do something to increase the value of the land, then give them a 5 year tax break.

Dee has inspired me to lose some of my fear of being homeless. Thank you so much! I was "let go" from a job I had for 10 years at the age of 54. I have Type 1 Diabetes, Osteoarthritis, and Hard-of-Hearing. It took a month and a half to find a part-time job, which is keeping me afloat combined with the little savings I have. Two years ago I decided to work toward a Nomad life, RV and small car, and was saving toward that. Watching my savings deplete at an alarming pace sent me into a panic. It's been touch-and-go hanging onto what I have and the fight is exhausting. I've started downsizing my stuff and been doing lots of internet research. I've honestly considered living out of my car with my cat... Thanks again for the inspiration to get over my fears and get out of panic mode and I hope Dee is thriving. I would love to know an update on her.
I'm a type 1 diabetic too & love my cat more than life itself. I fear that I will be living in my car soon. I really liked reading your comment & I wish you all the best.✌
Hope that things are better for you at this time, sorry but that is why I can’t worry about “Refugees”, it’s not lack of caring, rather We Need to Take Care of Our own First!!
Dee, you’re a legend. It’s great to see how practical you are and your adventures are just beginning. I believe lots of people are going to ask you heaps of questions about how and why you did it. Thanks for the ‘Memory Foam and Down doona’ ideas. They too make sense but most people (Me) would not have thought of that. I guess we don’t get it that cold in Queensland Australia around our home. We hardly ever see a frost here.
You’ve given me hope especially when you mentioned your back and neck problems and the mattress! I’m in a really bad marriage so this gives me hope that I can do this
What an inspirational lady.. Humble and determined.. I also, have lived in an SUV for a couple of days and had to get creative.. It was very affordable.. Times have changed and this may be an option for many due to different situations many are facing... Wish she gets her van.. Thanks for sharing that awesome video..
"It's better to be poor and satisfied with what you have than being rich and continuously seeking for more". For me, theres nothing wrong with wanting more and dreaming big as long as you are happy of what you are doing without harming others . And also be content and be grateful of what you achieve.
I totally agree with you! I grew up in a very poor family. Now we're older and have our jobs, apartment, car etc but thinking back, we were happier then-when we were poor because we had each other even though we had just enough to survive
She has inspired people to survive instead of blaming her situation. Do not look for what you don't have instead make the best in what you have at the moment.
Thank you for sharing!! Made me realize that if it comes down to it, I too could live like you and be happy and free. may the spirit of love continue to be with you.
Amazing. As long as she’s safe and healthy…. I’d love an update on Dee. That bed looks so comfortable. I know it’s not the best situation. But god bless. There are options. She is awesome. I’m sure she traded in a lot of toxicity and well worth it. I never considered this. 20 years ago I’d never consider a studio apartment. Now I’m considering this. I can barely afford the studio now. Like Dee was, survival with no extras. This is not homeless. This is a choice, wherever she goes is home.
I need to know some people who are nomads because I’m about to go and be living in my car I need to know some women and anyone who lives like this like this lady. Or you... I’m in calif at the moment. I want to drive all over this state and Arizona I just have no idea where I can go and sleep and I need everything that she mentions and I live off the same amount of money and I need to know how to camp.
I’m seeing a lot of older women doing this now. They always convince me that they’re just doing their thing, but I’ve seen so many of them lately that I’m starting to get the impression it’s a social phenomenon. Being a wife is a career that comes with no pension.
I think you're onto something: be a mom then get dumped out on the street w/no pension. I wonder where this woman's children are...if there are any. I feel so lucky. But a part of me can't help but think about how resilient Americans have been since day 1. God bless her.
I actually have to admit that I was well provided for by my husband. When he retired, he made some choices with his targeted retirement pension. He opted for less money per month at first so that there would always be an income for me once he passed away. Between that and his veteran's disability, I am able to make it, thank God and bless my husband's memory.
BUT WHERE ARE YOUR POLITICIANS???? Drinking, eating and sleeping lavishly and comfortably WHILE WE PAY FOR IT!!!! NOONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS!!!!
@@marizensoul8410 ZENSOUL??????? Don't think so. Wow. How sheltered are you? YOU need to find out what ZEN means. You need to reflect, Missy. YOU are MEAN. Mia
@@marizensoul8410 Mari ZenSoul You are right about the programs, but sometimes they take forever due to the backlog of applications. Perhaps she has applied and is just waiting -- as of her story, she'd only been in the car for a month. Also consider the housing that's offered by the government which I have lived in and it was top-knotch, but many don't allow pets. She would never give up Dolly. Then there's the history of abuse and as one who can relate, I lived in my car for awhile too. It was a sanctuary compared to where I was before. Wherever she was at in the video was a chosen community of like-minded people and that's really nice.
Well I think this woman's great! She didn't give up on life. She removed herself from a volatile marriage and did what she had to do to become self reliant.. Way to go!!
Everyone you have interviewed has been a complete inspiration...but Miss Dee is absolutely stellar! To overcome so much in her life and still continue on with a joyousness in her voice and an infectious smile...I just adore her & her little Chihuahua! Thank you for this wonderfully enlightening inside peek of her life... ❤️&🙏
Hard for me to know what to say. She is very strong & determined & like me, she didn't leave her dog behind or give her up to a shelter. Very well behaved little lady (Dolly) too. I had to live in my car twice, 2 different cars as a few years between times. My story follows: I did not need to set up my car like Dee did. The first time was back in the 70s when gas stations all had public restrooms where I could "go", use the sink to wash up & wash my hair, clothes, etc... It was a 1963 Grand Prix so pretty big. If I was ever asked my address for anything I always said, "63 Grand Prix, Pontiac, NJ." I did not have an income but had a little money set aside that had to last me indefinitely. I ate twice a day at the cheap burger places that existed back then. I could eat for under $1 most of the time. I also had a friend that would let me use her shower now & then. She lived with her parents so she had to check with them. In summer I also had occasion to wash my hair & myself in the nearby river. I slept on my front reclining seat & ran a little heat when needed throughout the night. My clothes were in boxes in the trunk along with toothbrush & other needed toiletries. I had other things in boxes on my back seat. During the day I would go walking or catching up on sleep that I missed overnight due to being so nervous. I usually parked to sleep in store parking lots but with people walking by I was rarely comfortable about my safety. Other times I would go in stores to get warm or to cool off. I lived in my car for 7 months the first time so I had cold & hot weather. I wish I had a nice screen house as my living room during the day like Dee has. That would have been nice. But it appears that she is parked at a camp ground of some kind. That's something that was not around where I "lived". I was still very young at the time. Only 20. Spent my 21st birthday in a hospital & was in there for 3 weeks. Got carbon monoxide poisoning from a leaky exhaust system. My doctor did lots of tests while I was in there so the insurance company would pay for my stay & I would be in a safe, warm place for at least 3 weeks. He was a great guy! So, you do what you need to do to survive in this world even when it's a bit inconvenient. The second time was an '87 Taurus & I wasn't in it as long. I was older so it not quite as easy on me with health problems & times had changed the 70s conveniences. The one thing that I MUST say to Dee is: You were smart to get away from a bad relationship when you did!!! I wasn't that smart the second time. Anything, no matter how hard, is better than putting up with abuse of any kind from anyone!! I learned that the hard way & you were smart enough to know when to call it quits for good!! Bravo to you!! God bless you & Dolly. Take good care of her.... She loves you!!
My mom forsaw this exact situation except my dad died of lung cancer at the age of 63 so when she was 44 years old, my mom saved enough in the bank to buy herself a 1999 Leisure Travel Widebody Class B RV Van which she rarely drove all these years but once a month to make sure the engine kept running. After my dad died 2 years ago, she too had a hard time paying for bills so she packed all her stuff into her RV van(it's a nice little RV, it has everything... a queen-size bed, microwave, stove and refrigerator along with a quaint bathroom with a toilet and a shower). She loves it because it has everything her previous home used to have to live. She lives on $750 a month and with little to no bills and never needing to pay for traditional rent she has all that money for the good life with fine dining at restaurants and shopping at her local mall for clothes and everything else she needs to live on a monthly basis. To all women who forsee a divorce or a husband in poor health...lease a used 1999 Leisure Travel Widebody Class B RV even a used RV will save your life later on when you are forced to live on your own. I wish you all the best and God bless.

True, unfortunately majority of homeless people aren't sober & solution based like the lady in this video. Me also, but most of these people making replies seem to have missed the part where she is living like she wants to live. We have so many people living off the government in this country, so many fake stories on "Go Fund Me" .She is amazing, but there are many like her. Good Luck Dee.
Say and think what you will, but people who can make living in a small space work are bad ass! Everybody has their own unique ways of doing things with the space they have. Its a VERY DIY life. And I have a lot of respect for people who make life work with only a tiny space. All you really need is a comfy, dry, warm place to sleep, a place to cook/wash hands/dishes, a way to clean yourself, and a place to go to the bathroom. I personally live on a boat. But I love these videos so much because I love seeing people make life work in even smaller spaces than my boat. Good on you, Bob. Youre helping lots of people in these *ridiculously* expensive-to-live times. (I love your lifeboat analogy.) BE FRUGAL people. Live simply and well. WORK HARD and SAVE ALL YOU CAN! Then just keep moving on UP and UP and UP! Way to go, Dee!
God Bless you Dee. I know your situation. I am disabled and my marriage went south. I lived with my son for 3 months in the winter at -40 cel. and he kicked me out after xmas. Lucky for me I had a van and lived in it for a year on parking lots. I couch surfed a while but kept my van as a safe guard. Then I met the love of my life and sold the van and bought her a nice car. Today we are happily married and are loving life. Dee I see where there are people who want to start a collection for you to get a van. I don't know how it's done but it's called _Go Fund Me. I would love to donate to your cause. You have done well for yourself and I am proud of you.
Dee, you're a real trooper!! You're an example of courage and determination. You have faced life bravely without becoming sour. Thanks to all the truckers who work so hard. God bless safe travels.

YAY!!

America needs to work on small affordable housing projects, single room with a toilet and kitchen, so that no one is homeless
Work on family values, learn to make friends, share an apartment with 3 or 4 people ,
My mom is living in her car as well in az, since apt rent went to $1500.00. Thxs Aim

Deshauna Harper as much as I admire her for making things work for her situation but shouldn't the government step up and help it's elderly generation instead of sending money to dictatorship governments?
Sending Love ❤️...Susan...Are you single? 😊❤️

Great job 👏🏽. Thank you for your service and keep rocking .
Thanks again for sharing

try getting some cheap wool blankets and form a low tent structure from 2-4 blankets (40 bucks at harbor freight?)( wash them first if you can) bind them together so you have airspace between you and the blanket/tent structure (a canopy would be ideal) probably an air mattress would work to lay on and if can lay that on another wool blanket....when not in use make it so you can just raise it all up and strap it to the inside top of canopy with bungy cords or disassemble if needed........ you can get a good wool blanket to cover with and be comfortable.(150-300$) if you can..The tent structure should be full sides and ends with probably a small vent (hole) or not at the top and only enough airspace between you and the outside so you are comfortable ...... No I haven't tried it yet..But I'm getting close and that's what I'm going to do....Maybe you could even fab the tent structure around the front seat if needed to..

Thank you for sharing! Your two of the most authentic people. I do hope I can meet you two and the whole community for at least one time before I’m too old. It may not be until next winter but I’m still making my plans.See you then God willing!!
I biuld huge houses for people with tons of money and let me tell you something their lives are miserable and they are always so angry and never satisfied with anything and look at this lady her attitude is just wonderful ❤️. Love her vive
At least those miserable people aren't shitting in a plastic bag like an animal. This lady is in a living hell

The sense of freedom of this setup, and how she chose this life and looks quite happy. Incredible
Dee is really an inspiration. So optimistic and no nonsense. She is more than a conqueror. God bless you!
What resourceful lady. It makes me sad that seniors would have to live out of their cars, but she has really made the best of her situation and I applaud her.
Madam, you have courage! Double courage!! I wish I had more answers. More people, actually the whole USA should watch this. She has such grit. This is the “REAL STORY” of the aging female population. Thank-you Bob. -humbled, -hg
i would like to see; more homesteading for Americans. Like live on a piece of land, do something to increase the value of the land, then give them a 5 year tax break.
Sad but true.
Truth.
Kim rain id rather see citys and towns to stop taxing everything so much that when someones husband dies and ur income goes from almost 6000 a month to 750 you dont loose the home youve been in your entire life and right after you have open heart surgery
if you've been in ''your home your entire life'' as you said--it would be paid off, you'd only have to pay taxes each year.
Wow! Thats tough living! I need not to Ever complain - and she's so content, worry-free and happy. God bless her!
As long as I approaching to retirement age, this video strikes me a lot. You a very strong woman Dee. I admire you. Very possible to find myself in the same situation. Thank you for your courage. My fears lessen.
I'm facing this now. I worked as a software developer making all sorts of money. All that is gone now. I have an older RV I am restoring but am terrified of what my future holds.
@@siriusgd4753 start researching your options now, there are senior apartments, you can buy an RV and rent a space, get roommates to share rent, rent a room from someone etc! It all depends on what you're comfortable with!

I love how courageous, creative, positive and strong you are. I've been enlightened by you. It's 2020, I'd love an update.
She is a true survivor. If one day we have live off the grid.... she’s got a head start! Very creative.

I hope you're ok and that things get better for you. Hugs.
I am sick to death of paying for taxes/lot rent electric ect..hats off to this lady..I may do this one day
I would love to live like this, and I think I would be happier.
$800 a month is higher than what I pay in a nice room in CA. She has more expenses than me. I'm fine thanks. Like my shower and bathroom.
You’ve given me hope especially when you mentioned your back and neck problems and the mattress! I’m in a really bad marriage so this gives me hope that I can do this

How are you doing?
Dee, your a very smart lady. I wish you the best.
Heen doing this for about 2 months
What an inspirational lady.. Humble and determined.. I also, have lived in an SUV for a couple of days and had to get creative.. It was very affordable.. Times have changed and this may be an option for many due to different situations many are facing... Wish she gets her van.. Thanks for sharing that awesome video..
"It's better to be poor and satisfied with what you have than being rich and continuously seeking for more".
For me, theres nothing wrong with wanting more and dreaming big as long as you are happy of what you are doing without harming others . And also be content and be grateful of what you achieve.
a lot of van dwellers have something bozo bezos elon musk all the billoinaires and those who hunger to emulate them will never have.
Enough...
Sadly, many people leave the latter part of your statement out.
I am blown away with her car conversion. Never in a million years would I have thought about the possibilities for living in a car.
Wow this lady is amazing. God bless her. I want to bring her home 2 me.

Sending Love ❤️...Samantha...Are you single? 😊❤️
I was homeless for 9yrs. I love being nomadic. Creative and inspirational ppl living free. I miss it

@@CreativeOne-ll8et how is it going now?
I’m seeing a lot of older women doing this now. They always convince me that they’re just doing their thing, but I’ve seen so many of them lately that I’m starting to get the impression it’s a social phenomenon. Being a wife is a career that comes with no pension.
Half of your husbands and you can file on his retirement
They need a network of support. I am putting something together.
I think you're onto something: be a mom then get dumped out on the street w/no pension. I wonder where this woman's children are...if there are any. I feel so lucky. But a part of me can't help but think about how resilient Americans have been since day 1. God bless her.
@@spritelybird Let me know
I actually have to admit that I was well provided for by my husband. When he retired, he made some choices with his targeted retirement pension. He opted for less money per month at first so that there would always be an income for me once he passed away. Between that and his veteran's disability, I am able to make it, thank God and bless my husband's memory.
I have always thought about what I would do if something happened to our income or if we ever didn't have a home.
She makes it look easy!
BUT WHERE ARE YOUR POLITICIANS???? Drinking, eating and sleeping lavishly and comfortably WHILE WE PAY FOR IT!!!! NOONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS!!!!

❤️&🙏
Hard for me to know what to say. She is very strong & determined & like me, she didn't leave her dog behind or give her up to a shelter. Very well behaved little lady (Dolly) too.
I had to live in my car twice, 2 different cars as a few years between times. My story follows:
I did not need to set up my car like Dee did. The first time was back in the 70s when gas stations all had public restrooms where I could "go", use the sink to wash up & wash my hair, clothes, etc... It was a 1963 Grand Prix so pretty big. If I was ever asked my address for anything I always said, "63 Grand Prix, Pontiac, NJ."
I did not have an income but had a little money set aside that had to last me indefinitely.

I know this video is 11 months old, but I give her a thumbs up. She's a strong, independent woman, and a survivor.
Vickie Sciorelli Yes but is her lifestyle through choice or necessity? If it's the latter then fucking shame on America
Not shame on America she could live in a cheap trailor in the south and fix it up, she'd be safer, especially if she had a good size dog.
Not every one could live like this in Britain the weather is too severe She could teach us a lot maybe she couldn't live with her children I love my children dearly but I would need my own space God bless her xxx

True, unfortunately majority of homeless people aren't sober & solution based like the lady in this video. Due to a lack of accountability regarding addiction & resources grown men & women are being paid to smoke meth, neglect their children & abuse their animals. True compassion includes accountability, that's what leads to unity & sustainability. Many speak on this without any first hand experience because we're encouraged to hyperfocus on our own impulses & opinions. Much respect for being logical 💯👊
