This doesn't work unless you have wifi. To do this without wifi, I bought a USBc to HDMI (ebay) with the double cable and use a phone charger for the power supply. Also bought an USBc male to female 6' extension so the phone doesn't have to sit next to the TV due to a short cable. Put the HDMI plug into the TV HDMI slot and plug the USBc cable into the phone. Set the TV to the HDMI port that the cable is plugged into. Turn on the phone, the TV will show whats on, the phone, audio is also, now on the TV. This does work, I have used it for the last 3 years.
I have wifi but I don't know how to connect my roku because of Cisco umbrella letting their people hack me and my TV and my phone. I reported him to them and I am still having problems with him he's using my TV and my phones. What do I do now. I'm on hospice and Cisco umbrella is not doing their job I don't want a all Google workspace and I don't even have my own email

And can they still stream media files to certified dlna devices such as TVs, PCs, tablets & Android boxes etc. - , if you just install a dlna server & controller app such as BubbleUpnp? Well I went out and bought the HDMI connector and I plug my phone into one in and my HDMI cable from my TV into the other end of the connector and nothing happens all I get is a black screen. Now this phone is about three maybe four years old this is ZTE Boost Mobile phone. I don't know if the phone is just too old or what but it doesn't work. Doesn't work for me I mean.

I am trying this now and only getting the volume on my Hisense TV. Both phone and tv screen are dark then when I swith off the smartview, I can see my phone screen.

You could try changing your source list from TV to HDMI/DVI option on your tv
