    I made this today it turned out great. Some tips and tricks, mainly helpful for non-Americans.
    1) If you can't get apple sauce in your country or just want to make you own you can easily make it. Peel and thinly slice an eating apple, microwave with a spoonful of water until soft (about 50 secs depending on your oven), mash or blend until smooth, allow to cool before using. One apple will be enough for this recipe.
    2) the amount of oats/oatmeal/porridge needed is approx 180 grams.
    3) if you can't/don't want to buy egg whites, the amount of egg whites needed is the whites from 2 medium eggs, or you can use 1 whole large egg instead.
    4) if your bananas are not all quite ripe enough you can put them in the oven until they turn black. It's not as good as over ripe bananas but it does help bring out the flavour.
    3) you can use white sugar if you don't have brown. Add a little maple syrup, or as I did a little caramel essence (from Tesco), for extra flavour.
    4) you can use all spice instead of cinnamon if you if only have that to hand.
    5) if you don't have stevia, you can add about 3 tablespoons/60 ml of any other sweetener, I used maple syrup.
    6) Raisins are a great addition, add about 50 grams for approx 150 extra calories for total recipe.

    Hi @Amy T, I wasn't able to tag you or respond to your comment because of your privacy settings on UA-cam. Generally, when I blend oats I just use the same amount- it's almost a 1:1 ratio and for this recipe won't make a huge difference because the bananas can vary anyway :)

    Yes! That's what I do, too! Just whirl my oats in the blender until they're pulverized. Right on. Oh gosh this looks delicious. Interesting note--the closed caption/subtitles (which I have no clue how to turn off) not only added words but also replaced bangin' with vegan, which this recipe is not. Does sound sooooo good though.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 років тому

      Oat flour is such an awesome and convenient ingredient! You can turn off the subtitles by clicking the icon that says "CC" on the bottom right area of the screen :) and yes some of our older videos have the automatic subtitles, so they can be a bit off! Sorry about that!

    Hi there! Sorry this is so late in thus video. Are there any suggestions on what you can use to replace egg whites and make this vegan?

    • @MrBiral79

      +Elis G Use flax seeds. ! spoon of grinded flax seeds will count for 1 egg white. I usually put 3 spoons and mix with hot water.

      FitAnge S Thank you!! Yes these are oil and butter-free making it a delicious low fat banana bread! You can definitely make these in a muffin tin :) I'd start with 15 minutes, and then check every 2-3 until a toothpick comes out clean :) Cheers!

    I love this! Thank you so much for for sharing :) Question, when measuring your Oat Flour, do you measure it before you blend it? Or do you blend the oats first and then measure it out? Thanks! Love your channel!

    • @siramea
      @siramea 8 років тому

      After, but its a similar amount. if measured first add about 2 tablespoons extra.

    Hi Alyssia! Quick question, I've been dying to make this recipe but I only have steel cut oats and they look like little popcorn kernels rather than oats. Can I still make oat flour out of them? Thanks for all your hard work and amazing videos, sending love from Houston, Texas.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      Hi! Steel cut oats don't grind quite as well into flour, it's a little bit too coarse. It will work for some recipes but I wouldn't recommend it for this one. I'd suggest using a regular all purpose flour or wheat flour instead of oat if you don't have it on hand :)

    I used quick oats to make my oat flour, but do you recommend old fashion. They sell oat flour made from oat groats, they process it differently, I don't have the name this second, but it's more money, I wonder if it make breads better, I hate the fact that when I find an oat bread recipe, it doesn't have that much oats in there at all, I was hoping to find a oat flour bread, with almost all oat flour. Maybe it won't come out good with to much oat flour.

      So glad you like the recipe, thank you! :) There are lots of substitutes for baking powder out there, but it depends on the recipe what will work. Or, you might like my other recipe for blender banana bread, which uses baking soda instead of baking powder!
