Something I noticed is that at 1:46, when he's talking about waking up in strange places, the doctor dismisses this by saying "You need to lighten up". Thinking a bit about it, it's a bit of a strange response to someone having spots in their memory (especially when that sentence alone could have warranted further examination). Then I realized that the narrator is looking straight at the camera while saying this - he's not looking at the doctor until 1:55, which makes me wonder something. The narrator doesn't look off in other directions when talking to people, he's always looked straight at people when they talk, but Tyler has a tendency to look somewhere else when talking. Mentioning that he has narcolepsy could give Tyler away - if the narrator got medication for himself then he could suppress Tyler without him even knowing he was there. Because of this, I believe that the narrator is NOT saying this line to the doctor, but that Tyler gains control for a second to say another line to make the narrator's issue seem less intense - then gives back control in that split second.
This scene has been helping me cope for that last few days. Night shift insomnia is so painful. TL;DR "The narrator" dubbed "Jack" by fans played by Edward Norton, whom the perspective of the movie was filmed from was Tyler Durden's alter ego. Tyler creates Jack when he was 6 years old to deal with the loss of his father. Jack was the sound of reason to a totally lost boy and eventually a man (Tyler). Jack had the personality "it will all payoff shortly". Tyler was someone who was fed up with life and eventually decided to take drastic measures and take back control. Tyler thought throughout most of his life that being Jack would make him happy and believed Jack would have a happy ending.
everytime i come back here. there is a deep cycle going on in my life. aswell as change. shifting and unshifting. human beings are so flawless , priceless, unique, their limited, primal minds cant even comprehend the amount of detail, & precision that goes into withholding their existence, & the order of reality. shiny object syndrome, and monkey mind thinking and feeling, they cant open their minds beyond the binary, the dual. but the yin yang is one circle, you cant have wholeness/harmony without light & darkness, yet (to no fault of their own) they seek to make everything "light" not realizing if they let go of that effort they would realize a higher light. this is just the flow/channeling of the infinite. yes nothing is in your control, yes everything is in your control, both those statements can be true at the same time, tho they defy logic. you must be open to accepting that their are higher intelligences then logic/thought, but they must be felt. You are attention /or energy. concentrated into a form(body) yet their is the formless (water) which has no form, meaning it can change and become anything. it is not bound by anything. it simply adjusts itself effortlessly into the needs of the present moment. your mind is like water , or it can be rigid, if you are not open to change, to flow.

That doctor should lose his medical license.
For what? Not immediately prescribing someone drugs because they said they couldn't sleep? Lol
Did your doctor tell you to take adderall to wake up and Xanax to sleep
@@JohnSmith-sd4mn a medical doctor is someone who PRACTICES MEDICINE. Refusing to practice medicine is MEDICAL MALPRACTICE. Adderall and Xanax are drugs (medication) that are typically prescribed for the reasons you yourself mentioned. I have no clue what you think a doctor is or what they do, but you have thoroughly owned yourself.
@@karlhilton6641 what in the hell did you just say. That made zero sense
"Help! I spent a shitload of disposable income on nice furnishings. I am in hell"
First rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club
I'm your 100th sub! Congrats!-
Needed something to watch at 3am
the vision bit is somehow incredibly accurate without zopiclone i dont sleep until my body forces me to sleep
I came here for the comments. I wasn't disappointed.
I'm dealing with insomnia all of a sudden, kind of in the middle of a breakdown lol
I sleep three or two hours a night, cannot bring myself to sleep
I just pass out and then have to be awake for work lol
I'm not even groggy the next day like in Fight Club, I have to be 100% focused for work, so I just kind of nod off for split seconds every few hours lol
damien ducharme HAHAHAH! Great advice.
To me when I'm sleep deprived, everything looks really close-up.
This scene has been helping me cope for that last few days. Night shift insomnia is so painful. The only way i can force myself to sleep is to get drunk, but i know it's very short term and i shouldn't do it.
I'm so scared, i can't figure out how I'll get back to normal. What if I'm always this way??
I know its easier said than done, but can't you quit your job and find one in the daytime? Do some job hunting? Your health comes first friend, always. If something happens to your coworker for exemple, The Man will just replace them.
@vortexdaidade no, I can't. I'm retrospect, it wasn't night shift insomnia. It was heartbreak insomnia. 😅
@@lifting_weab oh shoot, sorry for the loss mate, but its great that you identified the cause for it. Sleeping is one of those things I take for granted, but its important for us mammals I guess, be well!
@@vortexdaidade likewise! And agree 100% sleep is extremely important
As a someone who won cancer in my childhood I can say insomnia is worse than cancer.
There are few health problems in this world that will make you to commit suicide. Insomnia is one of them. I stare at the ceiling all night and can't sleep. This world is fkn hell
I have insomnia so I can relate
Everyone else in the comments talking about insomnia and I’m laughing at the corporate jargon.
“You want me to deprioritize my current reports until you can advise the status upgrade?”
“Make these your primary action items. Here’s your flight coupons, call from the road if there’s any snags.”
I wish they would make an entire room at IKEA dedicated to his apartment. I would buy every stick of that furniture, especially the table in the shape of a yin yang.
"Get more exercise."
Well, he did that with all the fighting.
Jokes aside, Doc's right: exercise helps with the body needing sleep for rest and recovery.
i had an ikea ad before this video
I finally got hit with the “Thomas can you get those reports to me by Friday” so now I’m in Fight Club
I need furniture for my new place but I can't help but remember this scene as I search online, including Ikea, for ideas 💡 that "define me as a person".
I love that he's just eating mustard with a knife 🤣 sometimes I do that when I want to taste something but I'm not hungry
"chew some valerian root" is about the same as what modern medicine can offer us today, even
ive watched this like three times and i havent noticed tyler til now
I don't even have insomnia and I relate
I can free you from your slavery to consumerism. I will selflessly take the burden of owning all of your things.
“Alright here’s some klonopin” *Directed by David Fincher*
Is is bad that I think his apartment looks really nice?
TL;DR "The narrator" dubbed "Jack" by fans played by Edward Norton, whom the perspective of the movie was filmed from was Tyler Durden's alter ego.
Tyler creates Jack when he was 6 years old to deal with the loss of his father. Jack was the sound of reason to a totally lost boy and eventually a man (Tyler). Jack had the personality "it will all payoff shortly". Tyler was someone who was fed up with life and eventually decided to take drastic measures and take back control. Tyler thought throughout most of his life that being Jack would make him happy and believed Jack would have a happy ending.
everytime i come back here. there is a deep cycle going on in my life. aswell as change. shifting and unshifting. human beings are so flawless , priceless, unique, their limited, primal minds cant even comprehend the amount of detail, & precision that goes into withholding their existence, & the order of reality. shiny object syndrome, and monkey mind thinking and feeling, they cant open their minds beyond the binary, the dual. but the yin yang is one circle, you cant have wholeness/harmony
without light & darkness, yet (to no fault of their own) they seek to make everything "light" not realizing if they let go of that effort they would realize a higher light. this is just the flow/channeling of the infinite. yes nothing is in your control, yes everything is in your control, both those statements can be true at the same time, tho they defy logic. you must be open to accepting that their are higher intelligences then logic/thought, but they must be felt. You are attention /or energy. concentrated into a form(body) yet their is the formless (water) which has no form, meaning it can change and become anything. it is not bound by anything. it simply adjusts itself effortlessly into the needs of the present moment. your mind is like water , or it can be rigid, if you are not open to change, to flow.
poor gen x er the late 90s sure were tough.
i miss having anxiety now i don't feel anything, nothing really matters.
0:11 put 0.25speed and watch tyler appear
My life right now...feel like i'm going mad...
