There is a new option on blender 3.6.0 that is similar to the xray addon on the overlay settings while on "Edit mode" it's under "Shading", it says "Retopology", it puts in front the mesh that's being edited when it is at the distance specified in the option, so it acts as an xray overlay but without showing the back parts, it's amazing! EDIT: The option has been moved on newer versions. Now, when in "Edit mode" a new Icon should appear next to the "Overlay settings" (now named "Viewport Overlays") named "Mesh Edit Mode Overlays", it is under shading still
in case you haven't found it yet, or for anyone else who might be curious, while in edit mode look at the right corner of the screen where the 3D viewport widget is located. It's above that. You'll want to click on the Mesh Edit Mode dropdown. It's the small box with four corners, each corner marked by tiny boxes, with the upper right one being filled in.
Thanks! Love this kind of tutorial. I hope you do a few videos covering the whole body. And it’d be cool if you wrap up and explain the next parts of your workflow after retopo- just to make the series complete. Cheers!
Don't know if it worked on older versions but you actually don't need to reposition vertices one by one after loop cut, when you apply the loop cut just don't click "esc" instead click the left mouse button, this will snap each vertices which are created by the loop cut to the surface... ofc you always need to position vertices if they look off
I have a small question: is there a reason why you didn't use the "in front" check-box from the object properties, and instead downloaded a whole new add-on to make the retopologised model appear in front of the high-poly model? I am new to retopo, and my boss at work makes me use the "in-front" option, so it made me wonder about the difference.
Worked like a charm, but I had to fill some gaps. For example, you didn't do the neck area in the vid, there had to be another "5-star" where the neck leaves the head or when you connected chin with lips, there was another loop cut at the chin that wasn't explained in the vid (redid it once to that point and had the issue twice). Rather minor issues
Awesome tutorial, could you please make a follow up video showing how to add a mouth sack and eyeball sockets? I find the topology hard to figure out for those areas.
Can you make a video about how you can swap/change female character's shoes from HIGH HEELS, SNEAKERS, BOOTS, FLAT FOOTED like in open world games like GTA, Saints Row etc. That is much needed and you will be a hero to the community.
Hello sir I want to make realistic face and full body 3d model of Indian King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj so please make a detailed video on how to do it with reference picture as I am learning new. ❤
Don't listen to him it has completely wrong topology he's talking nonsense better google face topology there are just color codes there it will be difficult at first but in the process you will understand everything!!!

Mirroring not working on half part of face…. Working on the opposite of same eye!! How to get on other half of face… ie to other eye
How to create a 3D model of any face
Example - yourself, friends or actors
👍👍👍
Eyelids at the start have 8 faces then when you doing nose part - is 9
I don't get why
because he added a loopcut above the eye probably. it also took me some time to discover a loop cut in the chin area.
lets go
i need to find more guids like this for furries. they work a bit difrintly and it is a pain

6:06 what??? here a pass
This is very tedious. Surely there is a program that can automate this procedure, or at least cut the amount of work to half.
Great. A "How to" video that doesn't show you how.... just jumps straight into the retool part without explaining how to start.
Don't listen to him
it has completely wrong topology
he's talking nonsense
better google face topology
there are just color codes there
it will be difficult at first
but in the process you will understand everything!!!
why bro :(
it's just a very simple and low detalisation
You don't know what you're talking about
