Excellent advice!

What about if I don’t have a sight
You can use your arrow point as a reference point.
@@NoizyBoyUS I've heard it's better to aim with the shaft, not the tip. It's supposed to line the arrow up with the target.
just shoot instinctive. like throwing a baseball.
If your new to archery and ur shooting barebow u can aim with ur arrow tip, string picture, and also adjust for distance with string walking.... and you will likely find explanations for those if you google them.... if your just making the point that this video is labelled "recurve" but there appears to be an assumption that all recurves shoot with sites then im glad you did cause i found that odd too
Okay So I Shoot With A Regular Bow, Literally With the Bow Handle And All. So When I Aim should I Focus on the arrow so the chart is blurry? Or should I focus on the chart so the arrow is blurry?
Without any sights you look at the target. I glance at the arrow shift (not the tip) with my right eye to check left/right them my left eye for up/down, but only for a second each, and not everytime. No idea if this is a legit technique, but it helped me.
Mostly it's dependent on consistent form, and feel. If you get your anchor points and shoulders in the same place every time the arrows should hit in about the same spot. Push your shoulders down to avoid neck pain.
Then just shoot as much as you can. After 60 shots three days a week for two months I can get a 4-5 inch group from 25 yards. I hold the draw for about 2 seconds. I'm not competing or hunting. Just having fun in the back yard with a beginner bow. PSE Razorback I got from a pawn shop for $25. I don't even know if it's the right height or draw length. I'm doing research now about that to get an intermediate bow.
I'm sure some people get as good in a weekend, but I'm happy with my progress.
Well im shooting with a sight with a snapped off reticule so I guess Im doing neither passive nor active aiming?
Great product especially for beginners.
Correct title for this video: "How to Aim a Centre-cut Recuve Bow that has a Dot-sight"
or simply "How to aim an olympic recurve bow"
or "how to be a lazy archer"
Skorpius as someone who shoots on the regular and teaches beginners on a regular, most people, likely yourself too, wouldn’t even be able to pick up these athletes bow and draw it back to anchor, let alone shooting accurately at 70m consistently. But i suppose the lazy option is to just be all talk online discrediting others
Archery for Dummies.
Skorpius have you even shot 70m with a sight
i needed this video for school lol
Does anybody know which Pro uses which style?
Just look at the archer's arm.
If you see his/her arm is shaking he/she might be more active. If he/she seem really smooth and relaxing he/she's passive.
But that's just a rough idea.
Posture/physical conditions/whether would also effect.
How do I get in this event?
I totally agree!
I have problems aiming the sight to the target...how do you raise your bow to align the sight with the target..raise the bow with your arms? tilt from your waist? thanks
If your form is solid and consistent keep your upper body in that pose. I move my waist, and mid spine. I'm not an expert in archery, but was a madman with an M16 in the army. I think of the ribs up as a fixed platform that needs to be in the same orientation to all of it's other parts to be consistent. Think of a triangle from the front hand to the rear, and then to the eye. If you move one of the points the line on the bottom where the arrow lines up will shift. So I guess I'm using my body to aim, not the arrow, or bow. More like pointing than aiming.
@@meat-hook makes sense..will give that a try..thanks!
Ik this was a year ago n u probably figured it out but you want to aim with your hand. Dont aim until you find your anchor point. Once you’re at full draw and the hand on the string is at the anchor point, use the hand that’s on the grip to aim. Don’t change anything else about your body or stance.
Mete son noktayı koymuş👍
Works the way it is supposed to. Just Good
What's the chest wrap they're wearing?
It’s a chest guard
Why the aim assistant??
Im not searching videos on accurancy because i have a aim sight..
Crosshairs are too easy
Thanks...
What about bow string
where is the string alignment
my archery went downhill when i needed glasses
I'm sorry to hear that. Have you tried contacts for shooting? I don't have personal experience in the area, but there are probably different glasses/contacts for different distances.
@@cameronstewart6636 thanks for your reply
humphrey peek How so?
@@sheepersjeepers4953 the frame on the glasses were right in my eye line causing me to look through my non dominent eye i have tried many types of frames
humphrey peek huh strange. I usually just push up my glasses as they get in the way or just uncomfortable. Like the other guy said, consider other lenses
I don't aim the target I look and shoot I am left handed and right handed and I love it because I hit the target without a sight I think it's called instinctive shooting I practice shoot at long distance at 70 yards the first time I try it couldn't hit it but I tried eveyday and I keeped hitting it know i can hit short target's no sweats talking about stretching the elastic bands I love it

I dont agree. Recurve archers are aiming actively. Passively is a reaction to afew different reasons.
Hloo
If a medieval archer had this kind of bow that people use in olympic games today, his reaction would be like that womans at 2:38
Ok , but when you dont have a sight for aiming ???
Use the tip of the arrow.
@@septianyudhiwicaksono Hi ! What is shaft aiming technique ??? I am not familiar with this term...
@@ionsorinporojan149 look up gap shooting
Its called barebow...use string walking
Then you'll be better, faster and more accurate in the long run. Cowards put all this goofy crap on their bows. Making such a simple tool into something laughable.
Where are the captions/subtitles? Haven't got a clue what's being said and I'm sure I'm not the only one...

Smokin Doinks - I'm perfectly calm, thanks. But ignorance offends me - because not everyone can hear. That's my second clue. Savvy?
Dot? You're giving advice on how to aim with a sight. Can this guy even shoot a bow without a sight?

I learnt just shoot when you think it's right for you and the bow is your teacher not you and try to learn from it
turn off that stupid music
This isn't a true recurve. Lame
our ancestors didn't need all these gizmos and goofy crap on their bows.. neither do I.
It's olympic shooting not traditional shooting.they are very different things.
your ancestors didn't take showers, neither should you
@@raycarden7941 They bathed regularly however. It being an important part of their culture.
And your ancestors also didnt try to hit an apple size target at 70m consistently 90% of the time. You do what you want to do, but until u pick up a bow and even attempt to do what these athletes are capable of doing, you have no right to criticize
@@kayfrenly5460 Your ancestors don’t watch UA-cam, please go away
While I like the modern recurve bow, I think olympic archery is a joke. None of these nerds would last 5 minutes in a battle.
Skorpius and what battle would the modern archer need to fight in with a god dam bow and arrow? Its a silly argument that i dont know why it gets repeated over and over again. Its a different set of skills and a completely different sport. Tell me, what battle would the average gymnast, or high jump, or curling athlete need to fight in?
They do target archery. They don’t use bows to fight
@@mocknugget It is a martial art. Creating a false environment like this takes all the fun out. They can make fencing enjoyable, why not archery? Targets do not stay still in real life! Imagine boxing with feet firmly glued in place. Contact sports with no contact. It's madness!
