Easily one of the most instructive videos out! We all know how nuanced trad. archery can be for each individual, but I found the entire video impactful on how I can shoot better--without having to completely unlearn decades of instinct or muscle memory.
On the other hand, all the wind and distance from the camera interfered with how well I heard the audio so may wanna consider getting a pop or wind filter; that's what comes to mind as a solution, but there could absolutely be some DIY alternatives available. Thanks for the content brother!

I love the setup on the back porch. So peaceful where you live. I think the quality of the bow has a lot to do with it. I bought a Samick Sage and built up my strength then bought a custom bow from P. A.W bowyers guild and it made a huge difference in my accuracy. I couldn't be happier. Awesome video and i look forward to seeing more. 👍

That’s some mighty good tip’s you’re sharing, especially the idea of the tip of the elbow at full draw to be like the rear sight of a rifle. That’s a new one for me and I like it, will put it into my very fast snap shooting shot sequence soon.

I just recently started getting into traditional archery and everything you have stated in this video are tips my brother told me and it helped me tremendously. It’s crazy how important keeping the elbow in line and aiming small is! Great video! My brother always says “if you aim small you’ll miss small”

Good shooting bud. I started deer hunting in the mid 1980’s with a recurve and I know how challenging it was for me to be accurate. You make it look easy. I went to a compound in the 1990’s and switched to a recurve crossbow in 2010. I do have a tremendous amount of respect for traditional archers because I know the amount of discipline and practice it takes to be consistent. I should have stuck with traditional in the 80’s. There is just something magical about watching those arrows hit the mark without the use of sights. Great video and great shooting.

Very nice of you to share this strategy. I can identify with so much of what you said. Everything in traditional archery seems to be some kind of compromise. My technique has evolved by sacrificing “perfect geometrical form” by raising the anchor point close to my eye. There are a few advantages for this especially when shooting from unorthodox positions. I like what you said about gleaning from other shooters. Heard the pail drop analogy before, but it is the first i heard about the golf ball follow through though. I love your videos, short and sweet.

This looks like a really natural tehnique for our physique, I will try it out when I get the chance. I am uncomfortable with the stance that was taught at the range, I'm not saying the perfect T pose with a perfectly vertical bow is a bad technique but my wrists and shoulder scream in agony after 15 minutes of shooting, let alone after a 2 hour session

Great video. Excellent form and shooting accuracy. I have recently dedicated to using the feather to the nose technique. When I am able to execute my shooting is much improved but I still sometimes can not draw completely to get the feather to touch and am essentially short drawing. I believe my problem is having too much focus on the target and not enough focus on completing the touch of the feather. I would be willing to bet if you are getting negative responses it is due to some jealousy and low self esteem on their part.

I go back to the Ear front of canal cartilage with top finger to my set point on release and I use a modified Howard Hill/Split Vision though more with the object blurry then the arrow as if the arrow is blurry then I get odd eye pain, sometimes in worst case head pains when aiming. Other thing with this is I can focus on the object I am trying to hit more with the arrow not blurry as the arrow also likes to go double in my vison when I let it go blurry as close items to my face tend to do when not in focus due to going cross eye when trying to focus outside the closer object. Then other times I have to have both in almost focus, mini blur to both if I am really struggling to hit the object on those days or having eye pains with either object or arrow being blurry. There are also some rare days the arrow needs to be blurry to shoot but those are often due to a rare thing if the target is going double vison more then the close object when they are blurry.
Edits: I forgot to mention I am split finger so only the top finger above arrow is touching the spot. I am using glove though the almost string type unless I am using a set of all leather gardening/work gloves with the smoother fingers to them, both in the pair for winter.

You said that you bring the arrow to just under your dominant eye for close shots up to 15 yards. Where do you hold when it’s beyond that say 25 yards? The fletching touching your nose is great idea for everyone that has a long enough nose, unfortunately my nose is short 😂 but still an excellent suggestion. Hey there Crockett! I tried reading all the comments on this video but didn’t see anyone ask this. I am curious if in your release does your string hit your nose? If so does it get raw after awhile or is yours just used to it after all your years of shooting? I ask because I have noticed that good archers who shoot super small objects hit their noses once string releases. Is that another key to being super accurate? Love your videos. Short sweet and to the point. Thank you

Occasionally....not too often. My nose is not your typical honker. I think it's long enough to stay out of the way.🤔😉🤣

    A couple of questions:
What happens to the laser tipped arrow concept when you start moving back to distances that require holding bow higher?
And secondly, what are you doing on your follow through? Focusing on steady bow arm for instance?
    Thanks

@@elmbow Anything past 23 yards and I'm going to be using point of aim and face walking.
Upon release I'm either focused on having a steady Bow hand or focused on expansion upon release.
      Thank you for watching.
