One of my favorites. There is plenty of 12 years Sherry cask 43% here in Maryland for about ~$70/bottle. What has become very rare here is the 18 years Sherry cask. It's price per bottle went up from ~$120 to ~$230 in the past 6 years.
I was just thinking the same thing... Like, did I miss something? Hah. In California Mac 12 is all over. I can get the sherry cask 12 for like $45 USD and the double cask 12 for $48. I don't really drink Macallan though, so I feel like I'm losing out unfortunately. But given that I just picked up a couple of bottles of Lagavulin 16 the other day for $50/ea, I don't mind missing out on the Macallan much :P
Its readily available even now 2 years later. But I can find it for about $74 a bottle near me in Illinois. At 43% abv. 40% abv. Is only$68? A bottle not sure but close I think.
$60 a bottle, 43pecent, Sherry oak 12 yo here in Florida, Costco. Very good. I bought it last Thursday, 2,3rd empty and it's only Wednesday. One of my favorites. Very delicious, at$60 a bottle this will be my go to whiskey.
Enjoying a glass while watching. My favorite is 12 double cask. But when you do a self blend of the 12 years on the market....you get something special. My mix. 75% 12 sherry and 25% mac 12 double cask.
As of May 2021 I can pick up the 12 year Macallan 12 yr sherry 43% in the USA for $50-$60 at almost any retailer that sells Scotch. So they are still going strong!
Just picked one up for 65 usd at my local store in NY state. He had about 5 bottles left of the Macallan 12 sherry. I really like this one and will be getting a few more
I just purchased a bottle for $52 in Iowa. I have yet to taste it but I'm sure if Horst likes it, then I will like it. The Macallan distillery is only 15 minutes away from the Cragganmore distillery so it should be excellent coming from Speyside.
Today they go for about $70 a bottle at 43% ABV here in Maryland, USA. Still picked one up out of curiosity as neither my dad or I have tried it before. I trust that it won't disappoint, so I'm saving it for his birthday (which is soon!).
I found a bottle in Puerto Rico for $70.00 and I had to take one! This thing tastes amazing and is very strong and spicy with a hint of ginger and vanilla love it
A Superb whisky, indeed. The 60 dollar price point is Amazing! If this was a Japanese whisky it would quickly be found on the shelves at 5 times the price, or more. Don't get me wrong the Hibiki 21 is SUBLIME... I was So pleasantly surprised at the Macallan 12 Sherry Cask. It will be my next stock up item :-)) Do not hesitate to try this whisky.
Boodieman72 this is also my first scotch I've bought and maybe bc it is also my first tasting, it isn't pleasant to me at all. I should note I came from craft beer, bourbon barrel aged stouts. Please help, am I going too strong into whiskey with this macallan?

I agree with you. Even with the color of the most recent bottlings, it looks like a higher percentage of second fill sherry casks are being used. Older bottlings were much deeper in red color.
Old post i know, but i doubt its that they are rushing it. Keep in mind that the youngest whiskey in the bottle is 12 years old. Do you think that they predicted a shortage 12 years ago and therefore rushed the next years batch? Hardly...
@@natas0733 lol I was going to say the same thing. Whisky flavors are subject to change. From one batch to another. Even if you buy two bottles at the same time in the same store they can taste completely different. May be different batches.

Some years ago I tasted a Macallan whisky and it was a wonderful thing to experience. Recently (yesterday actually) I was conned into spending £55 at Waitrose on a bottle of 12 years old Macallan sherry oak cask whisky. I will not go so far as to say that it is a bottle of piss, but there is no doubt in my mind that there are better whiskys out there at half this price. The rot set in with Macallan when they were taken over by an American conglomerate and ever since then PROFIT, not quality, has been the watchword of the company. The original owners of Macallans should be ashamed of themselves - they sold out to American money men.
It's my first time tasting whiskey and I am trying the macallan 12 yr old 43% and I did everything you've done but I get a very strong alcohol tart I almost cannot stand. Am I trying something too strong for my first time ? Help.
Yes. There are two versions of Macallan Sherry Oak 12 years on the market, one with 40% and another one with 43%. The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 y.o. with 40% is the new edition, which was introduced 2018.
Value might increase depending on supply and demand of that particular whisky.. As for age.. It is how long it's been in the cask, not how long it's been in the bottle. If you keep a 12 year old in your store cupboard for 50 years.. Sadly it will still only ever be a 12 year old whisky. Otherwise it would be the perfect investment and we would all be rich!

I preferred adding water instead of ice, cause water evenly distributed the flavors to a perfect level. You should try it next time!!
