The only things we ever had to fix was, carb cleaning and replacing the sprocket bolts after a bit too hard of a reverse to forward gear change. We had it for a decade or so and only stopped riding it after a front hub broke and the transmission burnt up limping it home. Engine still ran strong when we gave it away.

Nope, it’s an alarm. On newer models they did have remote kill switches. The alarm would randomly go off in the garage from time to time when the battery got low.

Yup, and I’ve spent weeks camping in the desert riding and bonding with my daughter riding hundreds of miles and hours in the shop with her wrenching on our bikes. I’ll take the “change”.
My second kid is still riding the 110cc dinli quad that was bought for my brother more than 15 years ago, nothing but very minor repairs, can’t fault it.
You literally earned my subscription based on your Celica Supra in the garage! Getting back into small engine toys on my channel as well. From Supraholic to another, us dads DIY daily.
Years ago, I acquired a Kazuma Lacoste 110. It seemed to be better built than the rest of the garden variety Chinese quads, but the suspension was horrible. I did a direct replacement of the front shocks with Suzuki LT 160 shocks. I put an LT 160 shock in the rear after making a mounting adapter out of a piece of square steel tubing. This created a little bit of lift that allowed bigger tires in the back, and then I evened out the width of the front with some wheel spacers. It hauled me around with no problem except when trying to go up a hill. The kids riding it had no problems on the hills.
When my son was very young we had a 90cc Kazuma. The thing was fast, really fast. Now that I have two boys and they're a bit older we're going to go ahead and get them a couple 125 bikes. These bikes always come running lean you can usually just raise the needle in the carburetor and get a lot more performance
I’m looking at them now, and this review really helped. Like you said, I was looking at more known, used brands, but was hesitant on what I was getting.
I have a coolster for my daughter ,she has it now for 2 yrs,no major issues. Had to replace carb with a better carb and thats all. Runs great can not beat it for the price..I took off the throttle limiter screw after she got use to it ,and that little 4 wheeler can fly..
In my experience with Chinese quads, bikes or go karts is that the engines are solid and reliable. Thing is, everything beyond that is cheap junk that just doesn’t hold up. Especially if you ride them regularly on trails. Even riding around the yard can be hard on them. They require a lot of maintenance to keep in operation.
I had a Chinese 125cc quad that I bought from a family member that they used it for about two years and I used it for about 10 years after that I’m 14 now, the motor finally blew up last spring, but for the $800 that you pay for it, you get a hell of a lot of riding out of it.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
have one of these but a 90cc (older version), had a few problems with it, but totally my fault (i beat it a lot), but with a little elbow grease still runs great after 13 years!! got it when i was 4 and i'm turning 17 now
I have owned 2. The 125 3 speed model I regret, it could not even maintain it's speed in third gear. Foot area was too small for most teens and engine failed in one year. The other, a 110 eagle, is still running strong several years later. It has been rode hard and has held up good. For what I paid for the hundreds of hours fun the kids have had I consider it a bargain. I am about to buy more but this time, as suggested, I will pay a little extra and buy from our Kayo dealer.
Ive had a Kayo Bull 200 for 3 years. New engine after one year. frame welding occasionally. Brake shoes, new carb. No electrical problems at all. Some mechanical know how will save you a ton of money. We have excellent dealer support at Wise Choice Motorsports in Tiffin, Ohio but of course it COSTS. For the price point you can't really go wrong buying one of these. BUT, if it is ridden HARD, it will break. So be prepared to either repair it yourself or Pay big bucks to a dealer to fix it.
My son rides a coolster 110. Put 5 years on it, and the motor finally started to die. Put a predator 212 on it with a cvt. Screaming fast now. Not bad at all for $800. Would buy again for sure.
i have had mine for 12 years and it is still running strong. needs a new battery and carb adjusted but other than that there is nothing wrong with it. only thing we have ever had to repair on it was the carb float but other than that we have never had to take apart the engine.
Good, accurate video. I have two ChinaBikes, one pit bike and a 150cc adult-sized Tao Bull 150-D utility ATV. Our ATV is a 2014 and, apart from a chain replacement, one CDI replacement and yearly oil changes, it runs like a champ going on 7 years now. Most of the issues I’ve had with the 125cc Coolster pitbike are upgrading the chain to a DID Japanese chain, putting a genuine Mikuni carburetor on that was properly tuned, and getting a better quality chain slider. All of those parts were had for less than $130 since we’ve owned the bike. Frankly, I’ve had to do the same with any Japanese bikes I’ve owned, but at a much more significant cost as their OEM parts are much more costly. I’m all for purchasing cheaper Chinese Powersports brands that are already demonstrating themselves to be sufficiently reliable (Tao Tao, Coolster, Vitacchi, etc. and of course, the more expensive Pitster Pro/GPX and Thumpstar brands).
DoItYourselfDad are you aware of the Hawk 250, Taotao TBR7, Brozz 250, CSC TT250, and others? Those are all cheap Chinese dual sports that, with proper prep out of the crate, run well and are reliable.
Great video, thank you very much for this useful information. I'm planning on buying this quad, a very well used one, only useful for parts for a self build crosskart. Now I know that it will be worth the money and it won't disappoint me. Thanks!
Great video I don't get those unboxing videos make no sense to me. We are a family of 5 I just bought my son his graduation gift he is 11 and going on to middle school 2002 Honda XR100 great bike but was $1000 and I also have 2 younger girls 7 and 6 and they wanted something too so I bought 1 used ATV 110 for $400 today and they are urging to get on and ride and now im planning on getting a second one. As the sole income of the family we have to figure out money all the time but with the stay at home order we are ready to get out and have fun this summer. The price on the these are very affordable the throttle adjustment is great and it's a Green Sticker come on it sells itself. Great to see a video from someone who is using it not just commenting on what's in the box.
Danial Gill I am 15? My birthday was just yesterday. I’m just saying I would probably buy one if I had a kid or for my sisters kid for Christmas for around the yard.
That was an awesome video review bud . Definitely helps bridge the consumer gap when it comes to opinions of these ATV’s I’m a firm believer that these are awesome entry level products 🤘🏻🐿🤘🏻 you rock 👍👍
I’ve had mine for 7 years I had mine since I was 6 I am 13 mine is beat up only bc I flipped a a bunch of times and stuff last year but mine is constantly needing work bc I beat it up but I would consider if your just looking to ride around no major jumps or rough housing there cheap
They are good quads as long as you take care of them change your oil frequently always change your air filter apply air filter oil don't run a dry filter make sure not to exceed the weight limit aways drain your carburetor before parking for a long period especially dont leave in the sun Long term expectations oil leaks if over heated starter problems if used to much the tires beeds will leak low quality rubber on intake boot for breather will crack and leak battery charging problems the frame will fall apart if you are hard on them lot of chain problems the sun will destroy them in a couple of months But for a kid that's just learning they are perfect 👌 on the ether hand if your kid is older or more experienced you should go for a name brand bike for long-term or you and your buddy's can buy a bunch of them and use them and bumper cars lol up to you really 😉
Thanks for the advice! Am contemplating getting one. Considering that if I buy one ocally and that new & upgraded parts are readily available I may have to get one.
Had one for 4 years, new carb, new shocks to upgrade the front and to replace blown rear, frame broke twice, keep welding), inner plastic on the sit broke ( used fiberglass to reinforce), made wheel spacers for the rear to kinda keep it in line with front wheels, new battery, new chain, old one stretched, fabricated additional motor mount to support front of the motor (small piece of metal that motor mounts to is too soft, bent) Front brakes are useless no little kid is able to reach the handlebar lever nor has strength to squeeze it all the way! Only nice thing is the hydraulic disc Foot brake . Also have Yamaha raptor 90 , so just usual oil changes and no issues at all!
i hade the first one and the only problem was that the metal in the front and back brocke some times and it is realy hard to weld bc it is a thin metal'
Have one for 12 years, it runs good. The weakest part is the frame around the rear axle where you adjust the chain tension, the metal broke but it was due to adults riding it. We fixed it with a wedge between the rear axle and the frame and it keeps the rear axle square and the chain tight. We had a tire valve go bad, run it on a regular basis and I would buy another one to. I also own a 49cc chinese scooter and a mini chopper all over 10 years old and still run today. Parts are inexpensive, you can pick up a whole new carb for under $20. Also replaced the fuel lines and fuel filter once. And a $5 clutch cable.
Dam 3 yrs old that thing looks like it just rolled out of the show room! With in a year my kids stuff looks like it got run over by a bulldozer but they're not half as rough on stuff as my brothers and i where so i can't complain
I have the same one got it for my daughter I'm in the middle of rebuilding it changed the motor going to get new plastics I rebuilt the wiring harness doesn't have the alarm or any of the alarm parts
Bought a 125cc 2011 model for $300 with a shift problem. It took about 2 hours to tear down and correct the issue, cost was zero. Had to straighten out 2 bent levers and reassemble. Thing still runs excellent and I just bought a 2020 model today so I can ride with my daughter, I get the 2011 lol but that's fine!
My Tao Tao 120cc has 100 hours on it best cheap quad keep old stock carb have someone custom built it and make it better stock carb better!! Change front sprocket always make sure all your bolts on the frame are tightened up! Over time they do loosen up! Go straight piped! Also go for the big bore kit my tao tao 120cc/ is now a 150cc screaming badass very fast if you mod it it’ll go up any terrain and hills stock fast no torque for hill climbing! For a cheap atv Tao tao 120cc beautiful. Very easy to maintain lol can even bump start 😅 very good compression 😊
Years ago I had a 90 Baja I bought at pep boys a auto parts store and it was great for my son's first quad and cost efficient,I'd do it again hands down, who wants to dump alot of money into something your child might lose interest in,and resold for another child to experience the fun of riding after my son grew out of it
I love these things, because most people who can afford them new are the kind of people who don't know how to maintain them. Then, after the carb got clogged or the cdi box failed or a wire got broken, they get parked. Years later, I get to buy them for $100 and fix them up for cheap. There are many different ones...some tiny, some just big enough for an adult, some auto with one speed, others auto with reverse, some with 3 speeds. They all come with a bunch of garbage wiring for the safety switches/remote start and other safetys. I remove all the extra wiring to help them be reliable for me.
My honest opinion about China quads are they are not that bad I have a roketa 150cc from 03! And it still runs and rides it looks like hell but it has been reliable for the most part I've replaced the cdi once and stator twice other than that we just beat the snot out of it ...I would say if your thinking about buying one go for it
Bought one of these 125 Tao Tao ATV's for my Granddaughter 5 years ago and she still rides it. It has held up well. I forgot to turn the fuel lever off last winter and run the carb dry. It wouldn't start this spring, the carb was ruined. The good news, a replacement carb was less than $15 from Amazon. I put the new carb on and it runs great. Her Tao Tao has a hand operated shift lever instead of the foot operated. She really enjoys her ATV on the ranch.
Me too! And the unfortunate thing is that the carbs that come on these bikes are "non-serviceable" (which means that there is no way to access the bowl/float/jets). The screws that hold the lower half of the carb on are intentionally smoothed over so that you cannot unscrew them! To your point, the replacement carb is relatively cheap. I think I saw them for $25. But you SHOULD be able to service a carburetor! I took a dremmel to the screw heads and I WAS able to get carb open. My jets were covered in green goo. You can thank the ethanol lobby for that... After massive amounts of carb cleaner and scrubbing, I was able to get it back in working order. I hope this helps someone else. I will definitely remember to drain it when not being used for a while.
I recently bought a used X Pro 125cc for my grandson. I soon discovered that many bolts were lose or missing. I replaced bolts, added locktite, lockwashers, lock nuts and remedied that problem. I have replaced the carb and had to wire in a connetor to the CDI. The machine runs well but currently I have to jump the solenoid to start it. I suspect it is the brake safety switch. I have worked on everything from tractors to trucks so I am figuring this machine out but it would be great to have a manual. So far I am not having any luck. I don't really even know what to call this ATV as I never find X Pro listed anywhere. People on the internet say there are no manuals. Is there any manual, even a generic one that would help me? Enjoyed your video.
Ive beat the living crap out of the 2 I have. Been 3 years. 300 hours or so on them. Just road them 12 miles today. I ride one with my boy, I weight 185lbs. The thing RIPS!! 35mph is fastest I have got it! I have to tighten up the bolts and nuts on the rear end every now and again. Change oil and keep in garage they'll be fine. They are starting to fall apart now though. tao tao 125 quads.
We owned my daughters for three years before she outgrew it So I can’t really say how long it will last long term. We sold it about a year ago and the new family that owns it is still using it pretty frequently.
They need a lot of maintenance if you ride them hard (like people do as they get older) but it is good to learn the basics of how to work on motors, a very good choice imo
Are you sure the Key Fob is an alarm? Everything I've read about these is that it's a remote kill switch for parental control if the little one starts to get out of control. Still needs the battery disconnect so it doesn't drain the battery but wanted to check whether it's a kill switch or an actual alarm. Great review.
I believe the newer models are a Killswitch, ours was definitely an alarm, woke us up a couple times in the middle of the night. I wish it was a kill switch, would’ve been nice for my daughter first started riding.
I'm looking to pick one of these up for my almost 4 year old. He has a couple power wheels but goes through the battery's so fast. I just hope he can figure out braking. I might drag the brakes for him at first so it slows down by itself. Thanks for the video
That’s a good idea, also, run the tires with no pressure in them. They won’t come off the wheels, but the resistance will help slow him down and it’ll make it ride softer too.
@@DoItYourselfDad since you responded so quick, I have another question. How is the Chinese quad holding up? I was debating between this one (new) and say a 20 year old Japanese one, say like a Yamaha or Suzuki. I'm hoping ether one I can hand down from my soon to be 4 year old to my newest newborn.
I haven’t been down to Glamis in years, these are great little quads, although I wouldn’t recommend him once the kid got a little bit older (heavier) in the sand. May not have the power. With a younger kid, and just zipping around the campsite these would be perfect.

I'm going through same issue do I get used name brand that I don't know what issues it has going with Chinese cheaper bike 👍
DoItYourselfDad is the Tao Ata 125 cc a nice quad to buy? Is that from Apollo made to?
I have a coolster for my daughter ,she has it now for 2 yrs,no major issues. Had to replace carb with a better carb and thats all. Runs great can not beat it for the price..I took off the throttle limiter screw after she got use to it ,and that little 4 wheeler can fly..
Great bikes! Glad your daughters out riding!
I had a Chinese 125cc quad that I bought from a family member that they used it for about two years and I used it for about 10 years after that I’m 14 now, the motor finally blew up last spring, but for the $800 that you pay for it, you get a hell of a lot of riding out of it.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If you keep it and don’t repair the motor, turning it electric would be a cool little project
have one of these but a 90cc (older version), had a few problems with it, but totally my fault (i beat it a lot), but with a little elbow grease still runs great after 13 years!! got it when i was 4 and i'm turning 17 now
I have owned 2.
Kayo's are very expensive
Thank you for all the info very helpful
i have had mine for 12 years and it is still running strong. needs a new battery and carb adjusted but other than that there is nothing wrong with it. only thing we have ever had to repair on it was the carb float but other than that we have never had to take apart the engine.
Awesome to hear!
Upgrade the carburetor you can find plenty on Amazon, use Loctite on as many bolts and screws as possible and change the oil
Have any of ya had problems with the carb adapter on the 200cc quad?
I just wish there were more full size dirt bike and dual sport options!
DoItYourselfDad are you aware of the Hawk 250, Taotao TBR7, Brozz 250, CSC TT250, and others? Those are all cheap Chinese dual sports that, with proper prep out of the crate, run well and are reliable.
Yeah, unfortunately not legal in my state.... except for the csc which I’ve actually been debating.
DoItYourselfDad the CSC TT250 is 50 state legal and they sell it ready to ride in your state. It’s a good bike.
Any friendly California shippers ? 🤷🏻♂️ and trustworthy online stores?
grandson just got a 125 tao I believe hope it holds up I got a 1983 Honda 200 3 wheeler still going strong lol
I just wanted people to know these videos are very helpful
Thank you!
Never had one of these but was thinking about buying a little Coolster for my Grandson
Great video, thank you very much for this useful information. I'm planning on buying this quad, a very well used one, only useful for parts for a self build crosskart. Now I know that it will be worth the money and it won't disappoint me. Thanks!
We have several and will continue to have them
Great little bikes!
Man this video was executed perfectly, thank you so much I appreciate you making this
I never had one and I am almost 15. But if I do have a kid. I think I’ll get this for them
Dude your not even 15 are you kidding me your a kid you can still get one if want it bro. This is coming from a nearly 19 year old.
Thanks! I'm hunting to a Chinese pit bike right now!
Thanks man I definitely will buy one for my daughter!
thanks for sharing the review, just the answers I needed ty
Rebuilding one myself for my daughter, I believe it’s a 2006 Henson it is a 110cc
Have a 06 sunl building on my self
I’ve had mine for 7 years I had mine since I was 6 I am 13 mine is beat up only bc I flipped a a bunch of times and stuff last year but mine is constantly needing work bc I beat it up but I would consider if your just looking to ride around no major jumps or rough housing there cheap
Thanks for the review, gonna pick up one of these quads for my son. PS nice car. I have an 1982 p-type in my garage.
YES!!!!!
My 01 yz250 came from California still has the green sticker on it, its here in Tn now.
I was thinking about buying my Grandson a Coolster 90 or 110 I enjoyed your video very good information
They are good quads as long as you take care of them change your oil frequently always change your air filter apply air filter oil don't run a dry filter make sure not to exceed the weight limit aways drain your carburetor before parking for a long period especially dont leave in the sun
Long term expectations oil leaks if over heated starter problems if used to much the tires beeds will leak low quality rubber on intake boot for breather will crack and leak battery charging problems the frame will fall apart if you are hard on them lot of chain problems the sun will destroy them in a couple of months
But for a kid that's just learning they are perfect 👌 on the ether hand if your kid is older or more experienced you should go for a name brand bike for long-term or you and your buddy's can buy a bunch of them and use them and bumper cars lol up to you really 😉
Great video thanks
Follow up, years later is whay more informative than a unboxing video
Thanks! I've never understood the point of unboxing videos.
Thanks for the advice! Am contemplating getting one. Considering that if I buy one ocally and that new & upgraded parts are readily available I may have to get one.
Thanks for the video, it was a big help.
Nice video man. The Chinese atvs get a lot of bad publicity so it’s nice to hear a positive prospective on the topic! Appreciate you taking the time!
Hey bro, where did you get all those that you mentioned?
The end video you pointed out what I was debating get a used name brand or Chinese ATV for kids Thanks.
I have a tao tao 125 atv ,,, it's great 👍 my kids love it and get plenty of use of it ..
Dam 3 yrs old that thing looks like it just rolled out of the show room! With in a year my kids stuff looks like it got run over by a bulldozer but they're not half as rough on stuff as my brothers and i where so i can't complain
Hi thanks for sharing you experiences on that atv . Im new on this trying to buy one my 12 years daughter.
I have the same one got it for my daughter I'm in the middle of rebuilding it changed the motor going to get new plastics I rebuilt the wiring harness doesn't have the alarm or any of the alarm parts
Awesome! Sound slike fun!
Awesome! Have fun riding with your daughter!
What’s a trustworthy website that ships to California? 🤷🏻♂️ thanks 🙏🏼
I appreciate this whole video 👌
Years ago I had a 90 Baja I bought at pep boys a auto parts store and it was great for my son's first quad and cost efficient,I'd do it again hands down, who wants to dump alot of money into something your child might lose interest in,and resold for another child to experience the fun of riding after my son grew out of it
Good stuff!
100% right. I bought one here in cali, no paperwork. Not fun. Just save the few extra bucks and get a dealer owned one.
Lots of useful information as always!
Every time I see one of these cheap on craigslist I’m tempted to go grab it. Every one of them probably just needs a carburetor clean
My honest opinion about China quads are they are not that bad I have a roketa 150cc from 03! And it still runs and rides it looks like hell but it has been reliable for the most part I've replaced the cdi once and stator twice other than that we just beat the snot out of it ...I would say if your thinking about buying one go for it
This is the enclosure I use: amzn.to/2LuFKXq
You forgot to mention they are bloody easy to work on and parts are dirt cheap online! My kids and I love them !
I am thinking about getting one of these for my Grandson
I’m currently fixing one that someone didn’t change the oil in and it became seized
Great video, I’ve got 2 2020 kid oaks and my 3 yr old is going to be getting her own soon
Get ready to make some great family memories!
I have a 110 or 125 Chinese quad I don't know yet but the start button won't start it so I I have to jump start it how do I fix that
Hey thanks for this video, your intelligent review really helps!
If you ever need any parts, like a carb or a battery, Amazon is your best friend for quality parts for cheap.
Great video
Ive beat the living crap out of the 2 I have. Been 3 years. 300 hours or so on them. Just road them 12 miles today. I ride one with my boy, I weight 185lbs. The thing RIPS!! 35mph is fastest I have got it! I have to tighten up the bolts and nuts on the rear end every now and again. Change oil and keep in garage they'll be fine. They are starting to fall apart now though. tao tao 125 quads.
My little sister may get one. Great review
Awesome! I'm sure she'll have a blast!
@@DoItYourselfDad I hope so
Most times you can unplug the alarm box then you just take 2 wires left jump them and it's all good
about to get a kayo and putt mud tires and louder exhaust probably
Just bought two of these for my granddaughters
Awsome!
My biggest problem is the chain keeps falling off. I want to remove a king in the chain. Can or have you done a video on how to do that
If the chain in falling off it needs to be tensioned.
FYI people wheel spacers make it much harder to tip over! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for safety.

We just bought one 👩👦& my son loves it how many years do they last if nicely stored after every use & dry bike as you say will help
We owned my daughters for three years before she outgrew it So I can’t really say how long it will last long term. We sold it about a year ago and the new family that owns it is still using it pretty frequently.
Mine is, you'll be surprised honestly, 23 years old
They need a lot of maintenance if you ride them hard (like people do as they get older) but it is good to learn the basics of how to work on motors, a very good choice imo
I have one like that and the only major problem I’ve had with it is the chain I can’t get it to stay on and I’m actually working on it now
Is it new? The chain will stretch during the break in and need to be adjusted.
one of my buddies little brother has one of these. a tao tao 110. we just rebuilt the engine completely and he can get up to 40 easy
These things are pretty quick when built up!
@@DoItYourselfDad yea
Are you sure the Key Fob is an alarm? Everything I've read about these is that it's a remote kill switch for parental control if the little one starts to get out of control.
Still needs the battery disconnect so it doesn't drain the battery but wanted to check whether it's a kill switch or an actual alarm.
Great review.
I believe the newer models are a Killswitch, ours was definitely an alarm, woke us up a couple times in the middle of the night. I wish it was a kill switch, would’ve been nice for my daughter first started riding.
Your a good dad
I got mine for free!great little atv , grandkids love it
Me too lol
Free? That's awesome!
Thank you meent alot
How fast do they go?
I see you are in the desert of CA. Any chance you ever tan this quad in Glamis? Looking for a cheaper starter quad for my son to use at camp site.
I haven’t been down to Glamis in years, these are great little quads, although I wouldn’t recommend him once the kid got a little bit older (heavier) in the sand. May not have the power. With a younger kid, and just zipping around the campsite these would be perfect.
