Manual Foot Shift is way better and reliable than Electric Shift Program
Yes
Yes it is
Electric shift is easier and funner to drive in my opinion. If it breaks, the parts are available and cheap and easy to fix. Id stick with electric shift.
You’re stuck in the past. You’re the type of person who will say a manual transmission is better than an automatic when it comes to racing 😂😂😂
My 520 DCT can run like the wind(in Forrest Gump voice)
Yes you bought a Honda the best 4 wheeller ever
I disagree i have 2 Suzuki i would not trade them for anything
Yes I love them
Yes Honda is the best I have one Suzuki from the 90s with me is not a beast has gas leaks Hondas I have 12,000 miles on all of them almost and Therapis
I have the 2021 Honda Rubicon Foreman 520. Total beast, Will plow any snow I put it up too and I’ve pulled a mini van out the rut with my winch. These machines are not speed demons with a top speed of around 40-45 but they are the most reliable machines you can get. People who dog Honda on their simplistic design simply don’t understand that’s where the high reliability come into play.
I’m looking forward to getting a foot shift model for snow plowing and pulling firewood out of the woods. My ‘84 atc 200s needs a break after decades of pure abuse
Yehaw! It's back up!
Yeeeaaaahhhhh baby!!!! Get my SRF fix.
@Tzuede Off the Cuff Honda have lots of low end torque
Josh your Owner's manual is in the rear trunk if you didn't know... Hard to beat Honda quality! 👍
I'm glad YT is back up .. I thought the world was ending
Had a lot of Hondas, they're amazing. The rear axle is solid I do believe (both wheels turn all the time) unless you're overseas and they have a turf mode I don't know about. Enjoy your machine and land.
Rubicon re independent rear suspension
American Made Only China Flu
"honda is known for reliability"
sure, except for all the times they arent. like that electric shift system that is notorious for breaking and being a pain in the ass to trouble shoot
While every single other quad brand has used CVT for years. Along with independent rear suspension. Come on Honda, it's 2020, there's quads from over a decade ago with a modern drivetrain.
Personally I will take a Honda with the electronic shift any day Over anything with a belt, Like my 2009 TRX500FE That after 11 years the angle sensor was finally beginning to get a little weak on that quad $25 in its backup like it was brand spanking new, again never had the 1st problem out that ATV and I've rode the cover love and daylights out of it.... Never Abused but rode HARD...Like the Terrible riding straight axle only thing I don't like about Honda Foreman's. 😁✌
Just bought a 21 Foreman. After months of research I found it won out in every category except for top speed for what I need it for. Had it a week and love it. I just bought it as a toy to go trail riding with my buddies I bought foot shifter no power steering my thought process being the less added the less that can break
I just bought the same thing.trx520 fm1 2021 and love it!
Smart
Haha, your car must have wind up windows and No A/C cause the more comfortable the more chance of issues….haha
@@mcmuskie2563 if you're talking to me my cars have what they need you don't need all that bullshit on a four wheeler
@@mzondi1970 foot shifter sure but power steering? that’s always good to have
I'll take a manual shifter any day least I know it's always going to work.
Yep....you can manually shift this with the tool in the toolbox if needed my friend...I prefer the manual myself...frees up a hand for filming lol
I have a 2016 Honda Rancher 420 4 Tractor with power steering and from watching this Vlog, is very very close to my machine. I have plenty of power. As a matter of fact, it will go much faster than this soft suspension will safely allow. But I did not buy it to go fast, I bought it to go strong and it does that very well in work and utility applications, and it does this very well. The biggest difference I see in our machines is I have full 4 wheel independent suspension with adjustable shocks on all four corners. This adds considerable cost , but one I opted for. Good luck, Be Safe, Great Vlog!
I have a 2013 honda foreman 500 no parts replaced just a few oil changes other then that it's still kicking like new
nice bike can't beat Honda I have a Yamaha Kodak very good bike to but both my motor cycles are Hondas and was going to buy a Honda 4 wheeler but couldn't get a salesman that really wanted to deal with me there is the bike take it or leave it that was two times so I knew a young man working for Yamaha so guess where I went that was in 2009 okay I will shut up you have a great day enjoy your bike thanks for sharing
My dad had a hand shift Forman 2000 model and it had enough miles on the screen to go to north California and back and I live in south Mississippi haha
I live ther to near forest mississippi and my dad also had one
Unless they’ve changed something on straight axle four wheelers the rear is always locked because it’s a solid axle all the way through. Very nice four wheeler.
Yea it is still solid
Would've been funny to see you singing Stoney Ridge song during the intro of riding around on the Honda. Honda makes some reliable stuff. Enjoy the new ride.
What's her name?
I think that bike is a 2019 because of the headlight pod and the racks are not the 2020 one! But very nice machine
Nice tutorial. Atv vs side by side or compact tractor !
Buying one excited we have a Polaris ranger also crew model 1000 premium
We had a 2012 Foreman, added Warn 2500lb wireless winch, chainsaw mounts and front and rear racks - very reliable - we sold it after buying a Ranger last year. I do recommend using ethynol free gas though.
When I travel internationally and they ask me have I been to a farm. Does watching stoney ridge farms on UA-cam count?
As boring as it gets... reliable yes, working horse yes but as boring as hell...
When I bought my Suzuki eiger 4x4 the only reason I chose it over Honda was their reverse was easier to use when needed to focus on use of snow plow. Hondas are great products for sure! I've had a few.
from what the dealer told me (i just bought this model but a 2024) h said the wrench will com on when service is due. the only downer to doing your own service to these machines is that only a dealer can clear the service light (the wrench)
not true at all my friend.....you can clear that service light by depressing the button...tons of vids out there on how to reset it. It's probably in the owner's manual also. Doesn't matter if it's a 2004 or a 2024. Check into it.....you can reset the service light
Another machine for upkeep boys and toys
What are the markups where you all are at ? They add $1700 ADM Additional Dealer Markup here in Southern California This unit would cost me $12K here in So Cal
Two words brotha: FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE just seek out a nice low hour used machine on marketplace, save yourself the "we can't get anything" markup and sales tax (which I think is robbery when buying a used machine) Check facebook marketplace...I also have a video about what to look for in a good used machine
Actually sad you didn’t get the footshift
I know if you take care of those machines they will last 30 years or more. The reliability and durability is definitely there as a work machine. Great video And really good looking ATV.
Thanks for the great review. We’ll done.
Just an fyi that 10:51, the brand is Kolpin, not Koplin.
yep...for some reason I couldn't say it right lol
Hard to beat a cvt vs electric. I have an opportunity to purchase one of these but I'm not yet sold on the es trans.
Go rubicon...that's my 2 cents
Got a 2013 forman 500 always reliable and a 2018 pioneer 1000-5 can't go wrong with a Honda
Call me safety Sam if you like, riding an atv without a helmet has killed loads of people
But it’s your choice as always thanks for the video otherwise
can a smart mechanic like myself fix it with a laptop & a T M are parts available at a
reasonable cost or will the parts dep guy say you need what ?? as he laughs at you.
at a local bearing co once told me that's a special japanese bearing it's 7x more in price my cost 54.95 instead of a average sae bearing $8.00 (axle bearing)
Honda's never disappoint dude have a honda 300 my grandmother won at raffle new in 97 been through a lot and still goin strong.
My dad won a new Honda 300 at a raffle as well and gave it to me as xmas present as a kid. Best xmas ever.
That space where you wear putting your phone is where the manual 4x4 shifter is but it looks like yours is not the manual shifter
That Honda looks good for darting around the property. In my 3rd episode on my channel I introduce and do a walk around on my new Kawasaki Mule - Real Tree edition. I was as happy as a kid in a candy store. 812 ccs, 3-6 person adjustable seating, 2x4 or 4x4, dumping rear bed, roof, windshield. It’s basically my workhorse on my farm. I love it and I’m so pleased with its performance thus far. I’ve had it up to 55km/hr. 🇨🇦 But if I’m just doing something quick and easy like checking the fences or fallen trees a single rider atv might serve me well. Thanks for the explanation of the Foreman’s features.
Back in the 70's I worked at a motorcycle shop for a while. Back then we had three-wheelers. We did some crazy stuff on those things (one-wheel wheelstands, etc.) In the early 90's a friend invited me to his lake home and he had two Honda four wheelers. Wow, what a difference. Progress rules. That Foreman looks like a great choice, Josh. Well done.
Either make it fully automatic or make it standard shift IMO
I agree....or let me foot shift or push a button ...allow both on the machine. Next atv should be a fully automatic Honda Rubicon
We have one kind of like that but with ours with the little space in the front bottom of the four wheeler we put a led extra light bar but I got a problem with mine for some reason it's making a grinding noise everytime I drive it so I think it's something to do with the deferential
Boy I tell you that intro song sure hits hard now.
I think rearend is positive Traction not limited slip i think the rear is one peice all the way but have been wrong before please someone answer for sure.
The waterproof storage is for your phone. The place you had your phone would work better for your gloves.
It looked like the front shocks were set low instead of high. The heavier the load the higher you may need them. Not trying to be an ass, just wanted to save your phone. Lol
I had a four wheeler just exactly like that until some jackleg stole it
Same but mine were for drugs and parts
My 2013 Foreman was stolen 4 months after I bought it brand new. I know who got it but getting the sheriff to do anything about it is another issue. 🤬🤬
@@kengray5793 same issue here as well. Police ain't worth squat. Nobody cares. Not their lose.
@@kengray5793we have that same problem here in eastern kentucky
I love my 2022 rancher 420
9:00 - You could add a strong magnet to that compartment. Slap a magnet on your phone cover or just place your keys there. Whatever! Might make it more useful.
I have a 2004 with 500 hours and 1100 miles. All low speed heavy work, plowing, dragging, and moving dirt with a bucket. I wanted no belts and the Honda durability. Only non maintenance repair was a starter. Not bad in 17 years. Enjoy.
Can't beat a Honda! that little compartment by your left knee you had your phone was in, that's where the automatic shifter lever comes through on the Foreman Rubicon Models, they use the same body plastics. Sweet Machine, that will treat you well for a lot of years!
That’s actually the manual 4x4 shifter spot on a rancher it’s the same plastic
Stopped watching as soon as you didn't say what you paid
how do you stop watching when I don't say something unless you watched to the end? Why is what I paid relevant at all....especially in this crazy economy....prices have gone from $6k new to $12k new in 2 years!
That Honda will take you to the old folks home!!!
I have same one but my not powersteering
They all suck...KFX 700 took a beating but they junk...alll junk...330 trailboss did the best besides KFX.... personal experience with alooooot...
Hi..... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
we run polaris sportman 570SP's and love them....farm looking good Josh.
What year are they because I have a 2020 Polaris sportsman 570 Premium edition In Blue
How much did it cost?
Nice quad i have 2 Suzuki 400 4 by 4 bet i could beet you in a race and i am only a 400. My old quad run away from a Polaris 550 and a Honda, and a Yamaha. I would not trade for anything. Honda makes great bikes i have a CB 654 custom 1981 my quads are 2005 and 2018
Nice review from someone serious about using an ATV as they were meant to. However, as a farmer , I can tell you that you should have gotten a Rubicon. The Foreman you have is underrated for pulling weight and heavy duty chores. The Rubicon can pull 1300 pounds plus and carry 200 pounds plus on the top racks. We often use the Rubicon (2022 model) to pull heavy mowers, pickup trucks and tractors out of mud ruts. (Although have not tried a combine yet.) The heavier weight carrying capacity is useful for liquid spray tanks of fertilizer and herbicide. They can also carry heavy equipment like chainsaws with fuel, etc. while pulling a trailer loaded with firewood. The Rubicon is better at pulling spring harrows, tined box tillers and rock catchers. As for fast speeds 40 to 60 mph with pretty body paint, no need there. The Honda is a very reliable workhorse just like a full size tractor. Funny I don't see many people here complaining about the lack of speed and mobility of a combine on woodland trails. Yes Can Am produces some equivalent workhorses at twice the price but they are prone to constant service. Have you tried herding cows and sheep with the Foreman?
Great review, very thorough and to the point. Keep up the good work of producing quality videos.
Did you see that "Lumuna Acres" just picked up a 500 acre of light forested land, good luck to him and you with your farm
@Ptguy0618 i get jealous when people have more than me, also. Lmao.
i can't count the times went to honda parts dept & told it's discontinued
Sooooo. You want to rent your Honda out for a week in December? I'm going to NC / Wilkesboro for a hunting trip and have yet to procure one. And I'm driving right past your area on my way to Kernersville. Lol
I'm saying nothing bad about your neighbor but as far as to why the insurance would only pay if he bought another machine I'm guessing is because they have issues with folks reporting something stolen because they need some quick cash. That's my guess. I'm betting that's just standard practice when anyone reports a stolen machine this day and time.
My preference would be Yamaha. It has an automatic transmission with high/low range. Which you don't have to worry about shifting, just put it in gear and go. Also independent rear suspension is so much smoother than the rear wishbone. All an all you do have a great ATV for your farm. Looking forward to all the updates to come.
Honda will outlast the others , made to last . I still have a 1990 four trx . Low maintained, great for farm work or hunting.
dad bought 2 blue honda fourtrax 300s when I was a kid....he made me and my sis read the owners manuals before we could ride them....what a great lesson for a kid.....He should have never sold them...they probably had 30 hours on them in 2009
Nice machines ! I like the solid rear axle especially if you’re working it on a farm . I’m not so sure about the electric shift , I still prefer the foot shift transmission, just less stuff to go wrong . Been looking at the Yamaha Grizzly, and the Honda Rubicon. I like the gated shifter on that Grizzly and the ultramatic V belt cvt transmission seems to be very durable with no problems, 10 warranty on the belt, so if that’s the worst that can go wrong is belt ( which I have researched the replacement is very easy ) I may get the Yamaha, but I do like the Honda’s a lot too .
I like the foot shift option too brotha
Just recently got a 2024 and they (Honda) have moved the shifter back to the left foot, which I prefer. Super good review and a super fun bike.
you can buy them either way, and the rubicon is DCT which is automatic now
the newer hondas just arent built like the model they made 2009 the newer ones are straight ass
Pretty much the same design here that they were using in 1985 my brotha
no the designs may be sleeker but the plastics are cheaper they way heavier so in the mud you get stuck easier the bumpers are practically plastic now id pick an older 2005 to 2009 model foreman or rubicon
Add some LED lights to front and rear for the upcoming dark winter nights. Light pods and/or rock lights from superbrightleds are inexpensive with great support. That's what I have on my 500 Sportsman ATV.
Correct me if I’m wrong but Honda changed that reverse system in 2020 models, still that style in 2019.
A friend of mine had a bucket for his atv. It's to hevey for the which and keep stripping the gears out of the winches with the bounce it causes.
Morning josh watching from England anyone who served for their country I take my hat off to u just started to watch your channel and like what I see will keep watching keep up the good work keep safe
Honda is the best hands down. The people that say Honda is junk don't know what they talking about.
The Phone storage thing was clearly a vape holder 😂 lmao
I sold an older diesel Gator and bought a Pioneer 1,000 and Rubicon Deluxe. Love them and way better than the Gator.
Helpful video, thank you for putting it together
The newer ones aren't that good anymore for Ranch work. We used to run Honda Ranchers, Foreman, and Rincons on our Ranch to herd cattle, and now won't buy the newer ones. We look for older ones with low mileage. It used to be that the front ends had several supports and several separate pieces of plastic. When you hit a cow, and you will if you are using them on a ranch, the older ones, you could take the plastic off, straighten out the supports and put it all back together in a couple hours. With the newer ones, when you hit a cow, it shears off two support bolts or their mounts and ruins the entire front half of the plastic because it is all one big piece. The last newer one we had, the quad had to take a trip to the welding shop to fabricate new mounts and reweld.
I know the manufacturers have to build for market demand. The Farm/Ranch market is a very small part of their demand, so guys like me are not served as well as the guys that want to use these for recreation. I remember a long while back when every Ranch and Farm around had a Honda Big Red 3-wheeler, but not a lot of guys were using them for recreation.
We have been big Honda fans for 25 years, but are finding that they are not fitting our use as well as they used to. We are running out of decent 10 year old Hondas in the secondary market.
Going to be trying some other brands. Our cattle herdsman is going to pick up a Can Am this week and see how that works for him. I am looking at picking up a CF Moto for myself.
This is an older video. How has this one held up? Have you hit a cow with it?
ALL U TUB VIDEOS ARE DOWN ! SOMETHING IS GOING ON !
Settle down there Jonny Reb lol. Losing YT isn't the end of days my brotha, patience friend--patience
Works fine in Canada
I have a 2012 Honda rancher 420 FPA. It would go 53 mph on flat ground that was it. It had power steering. Rear independent suspension and was the best all around atv I ever owned. I can’t think of one bad thing to say about it. They are more less same as the foreman. It had 5,000 miles on it when I sold it in 2022. 10 years old rancher still got $4000 for it. They hold there value better than any other make of atv. My theeewheelers are worth more now than they were when new by thousands lol
it kills me these things cost as much (or more) than a lot of vehicles
if a fella is gonna drop $9500+ for a 500 cc Honda...why wouldn't he pay the same price and buy a 700 cc Yamaha Grizzly..? Cray Cray
Get some ITP Mud Lite tires.
"ITP Mud Lite II (6ply) 25x8-12 and 25x10-12"
You should go work for Honda!
lol
Damn Elm Custom Harvesting must be jealous af or else he pick flights for the hell of it
I saw that too but I think he just picks fights. Stoneyridge actually pretty decent channel
@@Hissing-Syd yup Elm is a piece of work
Only Polaris or can am for me….
you like them belt drives eh?
This is my go to with a heavy duty cart behind it. I cleaned 2 acres of woods of brush and small trees with this rig. Very hilly more useful than a tractor. Used the cart as skidder.
i pull brand new can hams back to camp all time with my 1992 honda 300 fourtrax can hams over priced garbage
In Oklahoma, if you're a disabled veteran you are allowed to ride a motorized vehicle/4 Wheeler or side-by-side into the woods to hunt. I said only people who are allowed to ride the vehicle into the woods for the purpose of hunting.
even if it's your pinky finger that's has you qualified as a disabled vet?
Electric shift stinks . I find on the farm I'm usually using my non throttle hand to carry stuff. But you know what's not being used ,my left foot. So let's make use of the left foot,I can't hold stuff in my foot however he knows how to shift
Help our own workers... Buy American.
Your tractor is a Kubota, made in Japan too, right?
Video title is misleading clickbait. Does nothing to inform the viewer how to buy a 4 Wheeler, what to look for, etc.
I didn't see anything about the battery location or any other info about power for adding accessories. Maybe I was half asleep ?
That “storage” area on the side you mention is no storage area. That’s where the hi/low shifter would come out. As far as no storage, it’s a atv not a rv. It’s for riding not travelling state to state. Put a rear box or seat on it and you get more storage area than you can use
Mr. Stoney Ridge do me a little favor please make sure you lock up this Atv. id put a bucket in the ground with a long cable in the bucket and cement in the ground un less you have a garage to put it in some one stole my Atv two years ago an thought a bout it along time. also add a gps on it. so you can still find it. just dont tell anyone about your gps. thank you
That a 500 not a 520 it hasn’t got the new reverse System on it
Wrong time to upload a video when no one can watch it

Not the only ones I have the same problem😟
@@DarrensTruckzs - same here, no UA-cam video working

Hey man if you subscribe your channel
Is this the same man that does the chicken videos
"Don't buy a 4 Wheeler until you watch this!
"? -- I have to tell the truth: this title is annoying.
Some is selling one atv with 260 miles and 40 hours what it says to you? Can you help me
It means its been on the mud or more on the trails idk need help its gonna be my first atv
I have owned 7 homda ranchers over the years and now i have a suzuki king quad and it doesn't compare to the gears if the honda i do not like the automatic crap
TOY If they don't sit backward on the rack it can't even carry a helper. I guess it will carry you to the other side of the farm a lot faster than the Kubota. Have fun take care
