I laughed through this video. You hit every one of my frustrations. Right off the bat, my husband wads up the kitchen towel and shoves it into the stove handle. Each time I walk by, I pull it off and straighten it so it will not only look nicer but be dry when I want to use it. We also moved into a home with all chrome fixtures. The hallway bathroom even has a chrome light switch plate. All day long I am wiping off that light plate and every faucet from finger prints. My husband loves dark woods because he doesn’t have to dust and we have just painted our house in Matt. However, we used a BM highest quality paint and both in the bath and kitchen, you can wipe it off easily. I have my fingers crossed that I’ll never need to “scrub” the wall!
@rebeccasplace ho and I also have a nice table trash can in every room! I use nice hand painted ceramic pots. I empty every 2-3 months. It's for tissues or little things. Yes I am that lazy! 🤣
In some cases I think it can be helpful to have the opposite approach with hiding/showing mess?? If something hides mess too well some people never remember to clean it. And there’s a middle ground too. Like shelves that don’t highlight every speck of dust, but you also notice it needs dusting before it gets bad if that makes sense
True. It's funny, lots of people prefer materials that conceal the mess. But I had a VERY tidy client once. He had these granite countertops with a very busy design, which made it hard to see crumbs. So after wiping it down, he'd crouch down so he was eye-level with the counter to see if he missed any crumbs 😂 Everyone is different I guess lol!
@ Omg that’s so funny haha! Generally I’m not the most tidy but I’ve done the exact same thing 😂 I love videos like these because it’s so fun to hear the different ways people deal with things 💕
Happy New Year! I have had Benjamin Moore matte paint above my kitchen counters for 16 years ... its washable and durable. Maybe cheap paint is the problem?
These are great points. Personally, I prefer a medium place between a surface that shows everything, like glass or solid black, and a surface that hides everything, like granite. This is gross, but I once bought an older home that had been renovated and every winter we would get mice. They came for the warmth, so there was no way to keep them out. But it took me a while to discover that they were going potty on my counter tops every single night, because I couldn't see the evidence. Super super disgusting. Whereas I don't mind dusting my wood furniture if I can see the dust it only takes two seconds.
You can put decorative towels on the oven handle to hang but beware they are way too accessible when you need a towel you’ll probably end up using them for clean up or drying hands. The hook idea is great one less step than trying to fiddle the towel over the oven handle
This is quite the way to ring in the New Year! My apartment came with a chrome fridge that shows every scratch, bump, and nick from the previous tenants and the installers. It bugs me to no end, so I try to cover it in recipes and notes hung on the doors.
My intire home is painted in matte paint and it just looks so very elegant. That said we don’t have children or pets and we don’t have walls in our kitchen.
Happy new year! Always down for low-maintenance home tips! These were great :) it’s a struggle because I love darker wood but also HATE dusting 🙄 like what do you mean I haven’t touched this piece of furniture and yet it’s dirty.... ridiculous. But I refuse to have all lighter wood 😂
Happy New Year 🥰 I'm so with you. I really overdid the light wood when I was a bit younger, now I'm just so sick of it. And now, with a new puppy AND a cat, there is dust EVERYWHERE 😩 I'm torn.

Thanks! I would say : have a tray AND a basket in every room. I am a very lazy person and this trick totally changed my interior
Love that tip! Thanks for sharing 🤍 Gotta get me some more baskets lol

Hanukkah Sameach Friend! Chrome is so beautiful but super high maintenance! Very much like mirrors! Great video!
Having dirt hidden is my jam. I always buy a patterned rug. 😊
yes girl 😂🤍

There is nowhere to put a hook to hang a towel in my kitchen. So it hangs on the oven door handle and is ALWAYS perfectly folded!
A+ to you. The rest of us are gremlins, I guess 😂
@ 😂
You make me lol every video!
Oh yeah, and I learn a lot too 😂

The worst thing about hanging towels on the oven rack is that it touches the floor when you have to open the oven! Get a hook, everyone!
