Its a great game. me and others of the "Aeropunk Sky Pirates Coalition" push to bring back themes like this. We're often found flying around "Second Life" and showing our colors.
Though I don't agree with all the statements here, it's fun to see more vids on the game. Every plane has a very significant different secondary weapon set. They also have different maneuvering ratios and some are radically fast and others much slower and so on. There's also the option to get into the back of the one heavy plane with the ball turret on the back. Another plane has a buckshot weapon and as such it's a very fast craft. Get in close, unleash buckshot fletchet rounds along with machine guns if you can get close, and you can rack up quite the kill count.
The secondary special weapons are the big change, but they all function the same imo. Do you want a shotgun or missiles? A fast plane or a slightly slower plane? These don't change the dynamics of flying or the gameplay much. There was potential for lots of weird and interesting plane types, since the game is fantasy, and I wish it got weirder. It could be limited due to the IP, but yeah. Trading 5% flying speed for 5% armor isn't interesting when choosing a plane.
The titanium mine mission, the train escort, and the mission where you destroy the warehouse were such massive scale battles. I wish more of the missions played out like those ones did with multiple factions and various types of vehicles fighting on both sides. The scale of the combat was also quite impressive for the original Xbox.
Crimson Skies indeed didn't get another sequel, but it, in it's self, is a sequel to the PC tittle before it. Apparently some have been able to bring the first tittle back up and whispers are spoken of a combat server back in play via fans.
Yeah, I thought about adding that but I remembered it after the video was just about out the door. There's a big lineage with the being a pseudo sequel to the PC game, which itself is based off a tabletop game. But I wanted to keep the scope small for the video. If I could go back and mention the PC game at least briefly, I would.
For those looking for similar fun back again, check out THE BREW BARONS coming later this year. Something me and the Aeropunk Sky Pirates Coalition members are quite looking forward too. 🛩🏴☠
This game I remember playing a lot back then, along with my cousins. Made for a really fun multiplayer game. One of many Xbox games I wish I got around playing when the 1.0 Xbox Live servers were still up (revival with Insignia aside ^^'), but the campaign itself is really fun too.
@TunaCats It is, yeee since it's backwards compatible. Not sure how it's like on PC, unless it's like this streaming thing they've been using, xCloud ^^'
This was one of my favs growing up.

Some trivia: Crimson Skies was a tabletop game made by FASA, same guys behind games like Battletech and Shadowrun before they shut down.
Feels tangibly related to Cyberpunk somehow.
@@PlayStation_Paradise I could see that, though iirc FASA never developed Cyberpunk, as it was published by a different tabletop game/rpg company

Crimson Skies was great. It was like if TaleSpin had human characters lol

The graphics too! I love the reflections and sound effects. Did you play it online?
@@PlayStation_Paradise I never got to play it online, but i did play a lot of split screen/LAN at parties when I was a kid and it was so much fun
Played the multi-player in Team Dogfight for years as Kral Nevil. The Doppelganger and Fury were my go-to planes. Man those were the days.
On Xbox Live? I teabagged Chris brown during a "Game with Fame" event for Ghost Recon advanced warfighter lol. The good days

It's on Xbox live's storefront I believe, as a digital game. It's also on game pass for PC.

@@wild6886 this video was made by streaming it on PC via gamepass lol. It's good!
Yeah I played the fuck out of this game when I was a kid. Thought the planes were sick and controlled amazingly. An I want a Xbox now lol
"2003 was a great time to own an xbox"? Imagine owning a gaming pc.
Imagine imagining.
Microsoft stuffed this series into a closet never to be seen again
:( Bring it back. Have you played the PC version?
