I’m still in love with this song. I just saw Aaron on Friday. The fact he made this up on stage (minus the chorus) is insane. Which is why he looks so nervous. It’s actually INCREDIBLE what Aaron pulled off in front of 14,000 people and tv.

You should definitely check out more of Staind, all of their albums have so many bangers and what I love about them is how each one is different because the band evolves from being such a raw angst feel with their 1999 album “Dusfunction” to a more mature and adult sounding by their 2008 album “Illusion of Progress”
I recommend checking out the songs “Home” and “Fade” those two have music videos too so definitely pls give them a watch 🙌🏼
Most of Staind music at the time was scream metal and Fred was about to kick them off the tour until he heard AAron singing this back stage, wasn't on their playlist FYI and Fred convinced him to perform this for the first time and changed STAINDs entire carrier!!!
Staind was not even the heaviest sounding band on this tour,

Such great vocal control and expression from lead singer Aaron Lewis. The nasal/drone style of singing and the rhythm of the acoustic add to the feelings of disappointment and despair contained in the lyrics... good stuff ...
Totally guessing the genre, but I'd call it post-grunge alternative rock.
Backstory was Fred told Aaron to do that song live he was only just working on. He made up the verses during that live performance.
Aaron Lewis is still excellent in concert
