Damn man, I drive one of these 2.7l and it is absolutely the sluggy stuff I've ever driven! When I am in 70mph highway, the car won't even try to reach 70mph if there is even a slightest incline. I have to floor it to get anywhere to 70. I feel really bad for drivers behind me when that stuff happens....
This engine is the modern day version of the Cadillac HT 4100. Chrysler should of limited the 2.7 to small cars and kept the 3.5L low out put be the standard engine.
@DIENAMICProductions yea the stratus 2.7 pushed 22 more HP and was roughly 500lbs lighter. Not too mention and drivetrain loss from the RWD to the FWD. So I can def see it being quicker.
@darksyderydaz I know everything about the Charger, Im liking the changes that Dodge made for 2011 but I just wanted to see how slow the 2.7L is compared to the 3.5L which has decent grunt in the Avenger and Journey with the 6 spd autos but the 4 spd in the Charger just makes it sluggish.
I own an '06 2.7L and never tested this. TY. In my experience, great reliable car, if you take care of it. Replace a few ignition coils around 110k, then the control arms/tie rods at 150k and you're good to go for another 100k. Just keep an eye on that oil; watch for coolant contamination (hasn't happened to me yet, but it's just a matter of time with the engine design).
lol this is all pretty funny. The original point of this video was the interior drone after installing the Beast kit from Blastin Bob's. It had nothing to do at all with showcasing the 0-60 speed in a performance light.
Slow and steady wins the race and saves gas ⛽ so it's Win... the hemi motors get ragged to hell cause its a hemi so most of the time the 3.5 and 2.7 last longer cause they arent fast...but anything can last if you take care of it and do the maintenance..change the oil, oil filter, engine air filter .

In my opinion, it's one of the worst mopar engines, but nice video! Little slow, but it's fine. Also, mine broke down after just a few months after driving it. It was the 2005 base model. Got it in early February 2006. It was new from factory. About $10,000. I don't exactly remember.

eww what a slow POS. The engine falls flat on its face when it shifts from 1-2... just horrible, I can't believe Chrysler would be the 2.7 in this heavy ass car. Especially when the 3.5L is disappointing already.
1st off the 2.7 does just fine for cruising and driving. Sure it wont win any races but that wasnt the intent. The 3.5 has a ton of potential locked up in it. Try getting a bit more informed before you spout off garabge.
@@w.tuckwong9079 as a normal daily driver it was perfectly fine. Don't expect much from it though in the performance side though. Do your oil changes and maintenance and there should be no issues.

Wasnt even that great on gas. Also ended up being a sludge motor and spinning a cpl mains. So yes by all means stay with the hemi lol

No none whatsoever. The issue with the original 2.7's was rectified after the lawsuit.
