I _love_ skyblock because of its focus on farms and clever use of game mechanics to build the world from scratch. I spent thousands of hours as a kid on a skyblock server called Sweeping Skyblock (and its subsequent revivals). It’s really sad that most skyblock servers these days emulate Hypixel which has completely lost the spirit of cleverly exploiting game mechanics and working for everything yourself
just wanted to say that your 3d scenes are so well done and the quality of these videos keeps improving in all aspect, keep it up dude :) also spotting myself in the crowd was a surreal moment
This is my first time stumbling upon your channel. The simple, yet well polished way you animate your skin is fantastic! Great work, the low frame rate adds something nice to it, it's almost reminiscent of stop motion
It is interesting that the more technical a server or a survival world gets, the more 'skyblocky' it becomes. More and more resources are needed in quantities that make obtaining them manually from the world too tedious or outright impossible. Gold, iron, wood, even cobblestone. And at some point, it becomes beneficial to literally remove huge chunks of the world to make more efficient farms and reduce lag of the game.
Holy buckets bro. The animations throughout the whole video? You're insane man. Awesome video! What a unique channel. I won the algorithm today with finding this video
0:20 Hey there's me!! I actually did not expect that the original skyblock would have so much going on under the hood, and how changes in the versions (especially the recent ones) have impacted it this much! aaaand now this is making me think about my own skyblock datapack... I should really finish it... (-_-;) ...or save it for later, y'know, in case I get hungry. Also love the new icon, it's very cute ^v^
While I understand hearing suggestions might cause some tedium, I would recommend turning up the music volume. Apart from that, excellent video! Glad to see you're still alive!
I'm on the other end of the spectrum and I prefer it as it is. It's more relaxing than constant random music playing over his voice. Just an opinion, don't hurt me!
Thank you so much for adding me onto the ocean of players in the beginning! I still love how well you animate your character, the expressions are so smooth! 🧡
I absolutely adore the way you credit both creators and songs INSIDE the video, it's sooooo important to do this and I've rarely seen it done as smoothly and thoroughly as yours
Another banger video! I’m genuinely amazed at the quality of these videos and am excited for more, this feels insanely professional for a relatively new youtuber. Good job Andy!
As computer scientist... "How do you even???" Is a question I know how to answer, but still ask myself every time I see it. The more knowledge you have, the more impressive it really is! Like actually!
WOO TROG! (they're an absolute legend. current maintainer of the more "modern" skyblock datapack -- it's got structures and stuff! now you can dupe sand using the end portal! -- and one of my favorite channels skyblock-wise.) anyway TROG MENTION hype aside, this is a great video retrospective and a fun scratching-the-surface look at skyblock! excellent animation and well-timed humor as always, super cool -- can't wait for the next one :D
You can also get grass through moss, either by planting a mega taiga tree on moss, or putting azalea trees on moss and growing them to make rooted dirt.
0:22 Heyyyyyy I made it on to tv ma! Anyways, happy to see you back at it again! Always get blown away with the quality of your videos and I generally love this retrospective style of video.
2:10 that's a killer series that someone should totally do. ngl if there wasn't the music title popping up .... I wouldn't have known that there was music even playing ... i think .... still not sure if there is some music playing XD I mean i always complain that the SFX and music are way louder and that people should learn about volume mixing .... but i mean i guess the other way around is the better alternative XD I thought you were gonna at least mention the minimalist skyblock , where you start with barely nothing , or in some cases literally nothing but a bedrock block
Love the video dude! Well worth the wait! Your opening preamble leading up to the Skyblock was well done and concisely said. You really highlighted how much of Skyblock actually utilizes clever game mechanics that I didn't really think about because I always just thought of it as, "That's something everyone knows." Also love all the on-screen visuals and cue cards/graphics that pop up throughout! Very simple designs and not too distracting to look at for however brief they appear. Great work! Definitely think that a video on minecraft advancements would be interesting! As someone likes to Achievement Hunt (not yet 100% Minecraft on Xbox One), I find some of the advancements to be... rather weird.
This reminds me of why I like Randomizers/speedruns in the metroidvania category. It's all about intricately understanding the game, collecting tools, and knowing immediately where you can use those tools.
Next video's gonna be the history of minecraft's advancements (and achievements). My take on advancements: I need more, so I download BlazeandCaves Advancement Pack
7:58 Animation mistake: how are you holding the lava in a bucket while it's still placed down? 14:11 Witches didn't spawn outside of witch huts until 1.7.2.
I was looking through my subscriptions to clean them out and my shock when I saw the blue mark next to yours was basically Agent Stone in Sonic 2 "HE'S BACK!"
fun up date for getting infante water in current versions; step 1 make a two deep contained hole, step 2 place water at the top of said contained hole, step 3 bone meal bottom block. Congrats you now have two water sources!
I started one in 1.16 after the recent drama about Skyblock. I was disappointed that nowhere in the Nether void was a fortress, even completely demolished.
Why even have the ice? Iron drops from zombies very occasionally, so you can make a cauldron, which will fill when raining. Just a lot of waiting involved. You could even go further with the wandering trader. It has unlimited sand, given unlimited wandering traders. All extremely grindy, but wandering trader items are technically renewable.
You could technically even skip the lava, since you can get it from the hero of the village gifts. And the pointed dripstone can be acquired from a wandering trader.
i'm gonna save this video to my watch later playlist. y'know, in case i get hungry.
Litterally me 💀
lmao
Ha ha ok I guess?…
that’s what i just did
This video is going to be re-uploaded because there is no music.
Finally, the content dimension

I had just lost my skyblock of over 172 days
This was a very nice video to kinda help me cope with losing it

A Jenny Mod Retrospective (2025 Edition)
Did the music on this video get muted?
I keep seeing the pop up about what's playing but I haven't heard a single track😂

Not gonna lie, I forgot fletching tablets were a thing. But now I'll keep them in mind in case I get hungry 👍
Yay my skin made it through!
Extra Nice
🌳🌋🌊
ultra difficulty idea: 1 bucket of lava, 1 ice, and 1 dripstone. thats all you get in the chest. (also no sand island)

I see me in the crowd ;D
Just watched the video fully, and well, it was pretty darn neat
14:42
Ok but actually guys, how ba-a-a-ad can he be?
16:18 is that a jetstarfish dig lmao
Let's go to a place, where everything is made of blocks.
0:23 left side is me!!
12:22 omg potato war reference hii
I dont think i was in the crowd, but i did see dream and techno!
if only redstone was easier to get in skyblock...
There should be a doctor pepper island imo
Sweet animation
11:51 ...how much time did this sequence take?
I love this bro XD
Love the animation of the person
SILLYPAU IS IN THAT CROWD
ya know, i am getting hungry. im going to eat my monitor!
"were just egtting started"
*half the video already gone by*
What is this, some kind of sky block? -Steve Minecraft
I miss skyblock content though it has been hard to watch after the passing of Techno
