It's crazy that this just dropped, as I've been doing mental gymnastics about this very topic and was just brainstorming a video on this very thing! The main reason I want a minimal setup is for compactness and weight for traveling. Iphone, action cam, and drone is like the perfect little kit. But then I think about how much I hate the workflow of the iphone and the main reason you said in the opening.... It just doesn't have the same creative flair and evoke the same creative emotions..... I dunno tough decisions! haha... Great topic though!
It’s really hard I’ve treated myself to an iPhone 15 Pro for video and photo to have a one stop shop solution but it is just as you said: Every notification just takes you out of the experience of the moment. When I fly drones at work I even debate getting a pro controller because then it actually gets dangerous when someone calls and the app switches mid flight. I wish I had the patience and situations to be able to bring “big” gear like a FX3 but thanks to you I feel more confident opting for an Osmo Pocket 3 and an older model x100 (probably F) to separate myself and creation from my phone. Plus not filming or using the camera all the time will do wonders to my battery 😂. Oh and not to forget what you said also declutter my iCloud storage by being more mindful about what I put on there going through photos afterwards. Keep up the great work!
I am thinking about if upgrading to a new iphone means I dont need to use my camera anymore for video. Anyway but if you worried about the notification, why dont you just turn into focus mode when you know you are shooting? Even if I am shooting with a camera, I will try to put my phone into fight mode or silent mode so as not to disturb me during a shoot.
Totally agree! And then adding the ND accessories that companies have made, just makes me want to use my real cameras instead bc the quality is just THAT much better! -Katelyn
Hey travelers! Is the iPhone your go-to travel camera or something a little more specific? Let us know!
The workflow is the killer for me
great format btw it's like watching one of the many internal debates I go through every day
Haha absolutely, we’re always debating! Thanks for watching!

Totally!! Honestly I’ve found the Osmo pocket 3 the perfect middle ground for insane good quality, freakishly small footprint and amazing for travel!

Phones need an ND filter in order to dial up or down bright sunlight to use the 50 cinematic shutter speed
