I am always surprised that people are so stupid when fighting zombies. At least this movie has a reason for why they are acting stupid. Yeah, we all know the "Hit them in the head" thing to kill them. But you shouldn't just aim for the head. Aim for kneecaps and ankles. Zombies might still come after you, but without fuctioning joints, they can only crawl after you. And a crawling zombie is much less dangerous. They might be living corpses, but biomechanics still apply to them.

I love stories where the antag(s) are technically in the right when doing horrible stuff, but spite (or selfishness, i guess) drives the protag(s) to defy them and screw everyone over rather than be an involuntary sacrifice or something like that.
Weird how you think that them trying to not die and wanting to save their friends is selfish or spiteful. You wouldn't happen to be a psychopath, would you? Cuz the way you chose to describe this movie seriously gives off psychopath vibes to me. It's almost like you want to find justification for gruesome murder, especially with how you say you love these sorts of stories. In other words, you say you love these stories where gruesome murder of innocent people is justified. This foundation isn't the good guys, no matter how you slice it. Sure, they were trying to save the world, but they used the "ends justify the means," which is a textbook villain philosophy. And don't think that there couldn't have been other more moral ways to go about saving the world. Humans are a crafty bunch, and there are often way more solutions to a problem than what is presented at first. Even something as simple as being truthful about the evil gods and accepting volunteers to be sacrificed would make this so much better. History shows that there are more than enough people with the self-sacrificial trait to make this work. How difficult would it have been to make a religion out of it to ensure a lot of volunteers? It wouldn't be the most moral way of it, but it's a lot better than what they ended up with. This foundation had other options for sure, but they chose the route of deceit and torture. This makes them the villains, period. And the fact that you think they're in the right might make you a villain too, or at least a potential one.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 Dude, the first guy is playing by the movie rules, is it selfish to kill all humanity because you don't want to die alone? I'd say yes, Marty was going to die anyway so why not die while saving his friend and the rest of the world? selfishness/spite. The foundation was in the right because they were saving the whole world. You dont need to be a psychopath to believe that, its actually a pretty hard moral dilema to chose to kill few people to save a lot and theres no right answer, havent you heard of the Trolley Problem? Also the movie explains pretty well why sacrifices wouldnt work, if they dont chose stupid options they cant be punished, the ancient gods wouldnt be entertained by morally right people dying. This whole movie is a satire of thriller movies and the gods are the audience, the audience is not satisfied by people chosing the right path, i wouldnt like watching a movie where 5 good guys get killed to save the world without any accion scene or plot.
@@maca76 The ends don't justify the means. That reasoning is wrong because it can be used to excuse and justify a lot of terrible things. And I love how you just accept at face value that the foundation here is just telling the whole truth. They've already been keeping a secret for all this time. What makes you think for a moment that anything they said was true? It's likely they presented a false dichotomy: You die, or we all die. The true situation, as it almost always is in reality, is likely far more complicated than that. But they present this much simpler choice, probably to justify their own existence as well as give themselves excuses to be sadistic villains. For all we know, these ancient gods are actually able to be destroyed with modern military might. We know so little about what the actual situation is in this world, because most of it is told by the VERY unreliable foundation. But I think people like you accept what the untrustworthy foundation says without question because you WANT to believe it. You WANT to believe that the choice and situation is really this simple. You WANT to believe that these horrific acts of violence upon innocent people are justified. And THAT might tell us more about yourself than the movie. "The ends justify the means." "It's for the greater good." "Why won't you just die?" All things spoken by tyrants, dictators, and all manner of horrendous real life villains. They weren't the only people to utter these sentiments, and they won't be the last.
One of the few movies where every mistake, minus everything after the elevator discovery, is justified. Hard to actually plan around your immediate situation when you're drugged with pheromones to have you not think straight.
Late, but it is worth noting we don't know how long the drugs will stay active in their systems. Given their exposure over hours, maybe more if they were dosed in other ways before even arriving, it is entirely likely it would take days or weeks to truly recover.
The movie was supposed to echo that. That as the Audience we are the Antient Ones they have to please with a good show. Hence the archetypes and tropes.

100% on of my fav movies. Not only does it manage to be original while mocking standard horror movie tropes, but it also creates a horror movie atmosphere that i find a lot of newer horror movies fail at doing
An issue with the lantern fire idea, you seem to have forgotten about the pheromones, the moment you walk into the cabin to get the lantern, you're done for as they get their hooks I to you again. Rather leaving the "playable area" as fast as possible would be better as once you're out they've got much less of a stranglehold on your decision making, and you'll be able to better deal with any worse problems you come across. Jumping into the elevator was a risky plan but it was better than staying in an environment entirely controlled and trapped by your enemy. (we also see that the pheromone traps aren't only in the cabin but are in various parts of the woods, and even the moonlight in the area is controlled by them.) Blocking the elevator would sound nice, until you realize they have monster who would have to make their entrance from water, like.the mermen, meaning there has to be multiple different entryways, for monsters and people.
I do think that the 'pheromones mind control' type shit would only work on certain people. Like 'idiots'. Also, YOU have to remember that it is just a movie and certain things will automatically happen just because of the word 'plot'.
Burning the cabin also wouldn't work because the exterior structure is a dome. The facility contains flying monsters and they would escape if it were not for a dome.
to be fair though, this guys videos are always based on how best to survive with the knowledge that the characters have and not the knowledge that the audience has. The characters dont learn about any other creatures until they've already entered the facility. So burning the cabin down was the best idea they could have come up with as characters, its just that we as an audience know it would have been futile. Also i dont think its a dome. There would need to be some level of curvature for it to be a dome. Maybe its 4 walls and a roof. Or maybe there is no roof and they have another way of controlling the flying creatures and stopping them from fleeing. Either way i dont think its a dome.
At first I was really impressed with Cinema Summary's breakdowns and strategies. Now what astonishes me is the absolute ease of transitioning into the sponsor segments, soon I'll just think they're part of the movie explanation and I'm here for it.
So much in this movie that isn’t show here and it’s a MUST SEE if you haven’t watched it already. The whole segment where the monsters are freed is amazing to watch. So much that wasn’t covered on here so if you have yet to watch it y’all should do it immediately !
This is one of my favorite movies ever. The parody part and the idea as a whole is so well executed. I would recommend everyone watch it at least once if you are a fan of the horror genre.
I'd love a video game of this movie where you play as the facility staff, manipulating characters into being part of a horror movie. Each level has smarter people, and you have control of events. Could be fun.

Or at least a couple of prequels. Maybe based on different countries’ successful **and** failed efforts in the past. They really could make this a whole CITW Universe. I’d DEFINITELY go see them.
The world ended so a sequel would be impossible but a prequel of no survivors would be kind of okay otherwise there’s no point to the concept of the movie of the stereotypical characters being sacrifices
This move takes the Darwin Award when it comes to dumb ways to die. Separate, go down into the basement alone in a abandoned haunted house and reading curses/demonic books has nothing on the guy who thought there should be a button to release all of the monsters 😂😂😂
He was not as affected by their trap for him because he threw his marijuana away so he wasn’t still smoking the tampered supply. Each of them was drugged and brainwash by the scientist.
I don’t know if cinema summary takes suggestions, but theres a very cool movie on Netflix called ‘a classic horror movie’ It fits exactly into the kind of movies that are covered here and I’d love to see his take on the movie.
I didn’t expect a video on this. Basically half the movie they are being borderline controlled which you can’t really argue much against, so I didn’t think a video like this was possible
It's only possible because CS thinks people in the control room would sit and do nothing when he sets the cabin on fire. The game is rigged and there are only one sure way to survive: be a final girl Marty cameraman.
i really like cabin in the woods as its ending is pretty terrifiying and just not happy. that's something we need more of. i mean, in most horror movies the monster/killer is killed or in some way defeated but here they can't do that. here the killers are some higher beings living inside earth. also just goes to show that maybe it's actually good that our world has relatively tame creatures living on it.
23:55 For the watchtower and the rangers, I feel the the underground facility would have their own staff patrolling to see if anything wrong happens or if a flood a happens. Either way I feel like the people controlling the cabin will be able to put out the fire easily somehow
Know your giving us tips, but you forget that these teens are being manipulated to follow the path. It's only a miracle that Marty can ask sane questions because the weed he was smoking was affecting him differently. It's hard to say if these can actually be followed when you aren't fully in control of yourself.
I haven't seen the film in a while but I think I remember them saying they're only allowed to control them a certain amount? so they can be made dumber or confused but ultimately everything has to be the kids choice or the sacrifice doesn't work.
Not unless it requires physicality like defending yourself when running or anything else isn’t an option and even if he runs away he’s likely to be slower than the attacker he’d probably get wiped with ease.
Came here to say this- sage is used in warding, to get rid of bad things, not invoke them, so if you find it in a cabin in the woods, you should skidaddle. Abanndonned sage means bad things if you ask me lol
I wonder if anyone in that facility ever thought of a contingency plan in case any monster escaped. I mean they knew what they had locked up in there enough to make bets about it and even have a button to release everything in there. So it would make sense for anyone in there to ask themselves "what if all the monsters escaped?" and have teams ready to handle the monsters and not just send a regular swat team with regular guns against Giant snakes, demon bugs, killer clowns, pinhead's brother, you name it, it was there and they just prepared a button to let them all go but not to protect themselves from them

@@ShadeSlayer1911 ok
"The ends justify the means."
"It's for the greater good."
"Why won't you just die?"
All things spoken by tyrants, dictators, and all manner of horrendous real life villains. They weren't the only people to utter these sentiments, and they won't be the last.
At this point I think I know how to survive pretty much anything by watching Cinema summary

(we also see that the pheromone traps aren't only in the cabin but are in various parts of the woods, and even the moonlight in the area is controlled by them.)
Blocking the elevator would sound nice, until you realize they have monster who would have to make their entrance from water, like.the mermen, meaning there has to be multiple different entryways, for monsters and people.
In the movie it is said that, that one dude is drugged which is why the pheromones wouldn't work on him
