I regularly have insomnia for days. Sometimes over 5. All you need to do is lie still and shut your eyes for the required time. You won't sleep, but you will be surprised how it will help you recharge.

She the whole time says she doesn’t trust them at all and was more than willing to hurt them to protect her. She was planning to just get the lady and escape.
Also she is so young I am pretty sure her understanding is not quite there yet when it comes to things she just thinks at that point that she could maybe save everyone as she was told.
@@scene.g0re Do you not have any love for your family or something? Even if it's objectively the best choice, that shit's hard to do and is something you will regret every day.
Has anyone considered meditation as a possible way to beat it? It would be the closest form to sleep I can think of. Laying still with your eyes closed drifting could be the closest alternative to sleep. Think of it like capping out right before sleep but using that as your form of sleeping.
I have chronic insomnia and have tried this pretty often and it unfortunately doesn't work much at all. Your brain and body have to be fully "offline" for the maintenance that happens during sleep to occur. It would probably save some energy but it won't rejuvenate you like sleep.
The four more days is because the symptoms are faster. So you wouldn't die as quickly. Especially if your body is used to staying awake for long periods of time.

I'm pretty sure, like me, most people figured out that the girl could sleep because she was clinically dead before being resuscitated and that was the solution to the problem. How a defibrillator was still working after the solar flare, I've no idea!
Though by the end of the film isn't she more by antagonist? I mean her daughter could be the solution to all this, and she keeps her away from the people looking for a cure until it's way to late, with 2 points of reference they could have figured out it was dying sooner and saved a lot of scientists to help rebuild, but instead her daughter is going to be starting an inbred society with her brother until it's wiped out from genetic defects.
Fun fact: there is actually a syndrome that slowly gets worse which will kill you from sleep deprivation. It starts as normal insomnia and slowly gets worse until you can no longer sleep an then you die. There is no cure and sleeping tablets don't work. The only way you will be able to sleep is by being put under anesthesia. Luckily it is pretty rare.

I was once awake for just under ten days, due to a severe manic episode (bipolar disorder) that made it so bad that I was having trouble even sitting in a recline position for long. I ended up collapsing and having to go to the emergency room. Luckily the medication they gave me both helped the manic episode and made me go to sleep. I cannot attest for how bad things were mentally, because I was already not doing well mentally; but I remember that my body was so exhausted that I felt like it took effort to breathe, and my muscles hurt so badly that I could hardly stand it. I should have gone to the doctor sooner, but I wasn't thinking clearly enough to realize it. I think, the only way I survived was that if I got in a very hot bath, I could relax for a few minutes and close my eyes for a few minutes to relax, so I did it several times a day. It only lasted a few minutes each time and didn't allow me to fully relax, but it was enough to keep me going.
That must have been terrifying to experience and then having to come up with a way to make sure it doesn’t happen again. You’re very strong. Hope you’re doing well now 💕
I too have manic episodes like this that keep me awake. Last time I was awake for 5 days I started seeing things and became very paranoid. Was taken to the er 2 times in one day. Then taken to a research center for 4 days. Manic episodes are so hard to live with. You become a whole different person.
Clearly I didn't stay up for ten days but because I am epilepticI have to constantly do sleep trials which require no sleep for 24 hours. Plus I have extreme insomnia ever since I was a baby. The longest I have ever gone without sleep was four days. The first day I had a sleep trial, the second day I had a huge test so I stayed up and studied, the third I just had a crap ton of homework and the fourth I couldn't sleep. By then it was Saturday and I literally slept the entire day.
Outta curiosity, doesn't get knocked out count as sleep???? Like, could I just have my friend knock me out with a frying pan and get a couple winks that way??
That’s what the first test at the hub with the little girl was for. They gave her an anesthetic to knock her out, because they’d already discovered that only the people who could sleep would succumb to it. Which means having someone try to knock you out would only leave you in severe pain or dead.
no, you go unconscious due to slight damage to the brain i believe, usually from it hitting the inside of your skull, im not a doctor but i believe the answer is no
“If you don’t have a general status ailment cure, just allow affected party members to die and then revive them. This will remove status effects, so be sure to reapply buffs and watch your MP.”
Game logic: Curing all ailments and diseases are super rare and really hard. Reviving somebody from being incinerated by a meteor rain of hellish burning flames comes in 15 different kinds of flavors.
Sort of, yes. That is the premise of shock paddles as well. To interupt the electrical pathways so the body restarts in rhythm rather than chaotic firing.
So many challenges need to be examined, such as: how to dissect a pufferfish to not kill a man, how to survive a haunted island and how to survive a castaway rip-off. We need this.
I might genuinely be the longest lasting person under the effects of the apocalypse. I have a mild resistance to sleep deprivation. I can go 3 days before I get the effects others get at one day, just from having insane exposure to my insomnia for years.

@@floo1465 No hunting doesn't mean no food. You know that most parts of human food over centuries of surviving had little to no meat in it? Most people only ate meat once a year. It's pretty silly if you think about how the body actually works, but I guess they had to come up with some way to cure the insomnia. Of course even though they figured it out humanity is doomed anyway, people would already be dying (from sleep deprivation since it's accelerated in the film, not to mention the anarchy that would be happening) and most that hadn't would be dead in the next day or two. Without technology to spread information on how to cure the issue they could only save a few people at best, assuming they'd even risk interacting with others after what happened at the lab.
Doesn't this technically make a plot hole though? If dying is the cure, then everyone who will die of sleep deprivation will be cured of it and can sleep again.
This movie in particular has a great excuse should the characters make bad decisions: "Why would she walk into the room alone?" *Sleep deprivation* "Uh... Okay, but why the hell would they split up when-" *Sleep deprivation* "How could-" *Sleep deprivation* "But-" *Sleep deprivation* "..."
And it makes Cinema Summary look like a dumbass. "This soldier has started hallucinating" Next sentence. "That tells me..." absolutely nothing because you are also sleep deprived. Him putiing himself in the position of a 10 year old is even worse, as I am willing to wager he was even more clueless at that age.
@@Numbers_Game This shows just how truly terrifying the effects of sleep deprivation are. If a character is hungry or thirsty or injured, they still have enough common sense and wit remaining, even after a few days, to make rational decisions. They are still subject to audience eye rolls and cries of 'what a buffoon'. But sleep deprivation? Even after just a day, bad decisions are still understandable because the effects are just THAT bad.
@@Numbers_Game I couldn't take it seriously when he put himself in the perspective of the girl. She's clueless as all hell, so there's no way she would've thought of tricking anyone.

When they lowered the recommended dose of Ambien for a woman from 10 mg down to 5 my psychiatrist whom is also a sleep specialist had to write into I believe they said it was the FDA to get approval for him to continue giving me my regular prescription dose because I've been taking two 10 mg of Ambien every night for years before they even lowered the dose they recommend for women they also lowered the dose they recommend for men to be at I believe he said it was 10 mg so don't quote me on that I could be wrong it was so many years ago we had that discussion but yeah he had to get approval to continue giving me my prescription dose but since I'd been on it for multiple years before those new regulations they let me continue my prescription. So this is real life for me!

Did anyone try chloroform? Or choking? I think if you choke out just long enough, you can hit reset. Idk though. I also have chronic fatigue so that could kick in.
I once saw a horror film when I was 9, couldn't sleep for about 3 days. The most horrifying part? I saw hallucinations of the monsters from the film in the corners of my eyes at one point.
If she's the only hope for humanity because she's the only one that can sleep is wrong because she will need a man or there will be no sperm for a baby so doing all those stuff is dumb
@@josephb8499 I mean he's not wrong. The girl will be in less danger if she just found some food and a good hiding place and didn't come out for a week. There will be more than enough food to let her survive for a few years until she can figure that stuff out.
@@felypinho020 For the movie, not only would you most likely not figure out the solution since most likely nobody you know would be resuscitated to give the clue, you also would be dependent on having other people to actually safely bring you back to life. In a nutshell it is unsurvivable on your own unless you have some sort of high-tech device conveniently close to you that automatically resuscitates you. Realistically speaking, there would have to be hundreds of these cases of people being reanimated all over the country and thousands all over the world. I tried to look some statistic on it, and found that 360 000 people die of cardiac arrest every single year in the us, out of which about 10% get reanimated (or 35 600). So every day you would have about 100 people being reanimated across the US (and a few thousand across the world). It make sense why nobody figured it out with 1 or 2 people, but with hundreds upon hundreds of people being reanimated and suddenly able to sleep surely that connection would have been made at some place in the world.
Tbh though she just gasped for air it's not told if she cant ever get any sleep... you have to understand they DROWNED her lol she'd need to get the water out of her lungs. Idk why they didn't just suffocate her with a pillow or something and then bring her back, could have probably fallen asleep and not just have her heart restarted and puke water out of her lungs immidiately before being able to sleep.

Has anyone considered meditation as a possible way to beat it? It would be the closest form to sleep I can think of. Laying still with your eyes closed drifting could be the closest alternative to sleep. Think of it like capping out right before sleep but using that as your form of sleeping.
As a human being you need to reach the R.E.M. stage of sleep for your mind to heal. You do not reach R.E.M. state with meditation.
I have chronic insomnia and have tried this pretty often and it unfortunately doesn't work much at all. Your brain and body have to be fully "offline" for the maintenance that happens during sleep to occur. It would probably save some energy but it won't rejuvenate you like sleep.

Fun fact: there is actually a syndrome that slowly gets worse which will kill you from sleep deprivation.

@@U.TOPIA. That's kind of overthinking it, especially for a child...
@@U.TOPIA. shes the only hope for humanity because they might be able to find a cure. Did you watch the video?

Literally had to check the comments to see if he was doing an ad, holy shit he’s smooth.

@Ghosty NY ???
He includes the sponsor yet he’s too cheap to just remove the censorship and not monetise

survival of the fittest
Like come on, that's way too heartless, they're family ffs , this I don't agree
Fr like wtf is his explanation. This little girl doesn’t know how to cook or find food or anything.
@@josephb8499 lmao at this point I only come to this channel to laught at the comments
@@josephb8499 I mean he's not wrong. The girl will be in less danger if she just found some food and a good hiding place and didn't come out for a week. There will be more than enough food to let her survive for a few years until she can figure that stuff out.
this guy makes the smoothest sponsor transitions
almost every recent "horror" movie: apocalypse where you can't do one specific thing (make noise, see, sleep...)
Wait i never thought of that LOL
There’s gonna be a parody where you can’t shit, either literally, or because you’ll spontaneously combust if you do.

11 minutes in and I’m wondering why this isn’t titled a “Why you wouldn’t survive”.
Yeah, unless you're lucky enough to be one of the immune people you're pretty much dead, I hope this never happens in real life
@@felypinho020 luckily there's pretty much no chance it ever does lol
“And realises a mother can never get any sleep”
True
Tbh though she just gasped for air it's not told if she cant ever get any sleep... you have to understand they DROWNED her lol she'd need to get the water out of her lungs. Idk why they didn't just suffocate her with a pillow or something and then bring her back, could have probably fallen asleep and not just have her heart restarted and puke water out of her lungs immidiately before being able to sleep.
@@peppermint1349 where would they got the pillow from?
@@riannameddar dude it doesn't have to be a pillow, any type of cloth material will do the job.
