- an early version of ursula's death, which is largely the same as the alternate ending on the 2006 platinum edition dvd, but with some previously unseen moments and dialogue that were not on the dvd version!

Her accusing Triton of putting on weight is hilarious.
He looks muscular to me
@@ryandalton2834 That's why it's hilarious.
He def has a belly in this version tho 😅
So cool they originally had the shark come back and that Eric saves Sebastian and Flounder . I also like that Ariel jumps off the ship before she turns back into a mermaid.
Yes, but technically, sharks don't have bones; they are made from cartilage, an elastic tissue, so Glut the shark shouldn't be able to have an X-ray. That's probably why the animators dropped him in the end from the climax.
Also, Ariel got her voice back when Ursula was defeated.
Y'all are just feeding The Little Mermaid fans so much goodies. Thanks for these - I'm super fascinated with how much they explored and experimented for this story ♥
The shark eats Flotsam and Jetsam but he blows up alongside with them
Surprising how in this workplay, Ursula pursues Ariel while underwater.
I love the more intimate action of this ending.
It's pretty funny seeing this when the movie came out in 1989, I guess disney started on this in roughly 1986.
Yeah, production for this movie began shortly after "The Great Mouse Detective" was finished. "Oliver & Company" started production around the same time as "The Great Mouse Detective" did, in 1985.
Since ursula was gonna be a lionfish, manta ray and scorpion fish i would always wonder how scences like this would play out!
I really wish they had kept Glut reappearing (the shark who was in the beginning of the film) in the final version. Would've been cool to see him return in the climax
Oh i saw this with the dvd extras on the Diamond Edition. Kinda prefer this version of the climax. Seems a bit more action packed and personal rather than swimming around trying to survive.
this one's actually a little different from the dvd version!
@@justyourvoice yeah it's a bit extended. The dvd version starts with the contract being signed.
@@mellemadswoestenburg1296 I find it amazing that somebody found more storyboards than shown on the DVD version! I thought that would be the only way we’d ever see this ending.
One question: If Ariel doesn’t get her voice back until the finale, how do they free Eric from Vanessa?
he sees her reflection as ursula in a puddle of water
To add to that, Eric wasn't really hypnotized. He was still suspicious of Vanessa up until the moment he saw her reflection.
@@justyourvoiceomgggg pls post
@ 1:03 -1:08 and 2:52, Ursula had the same mouth patterns as Professor Ratigan
I also thought the same thing about that kind of drawing so similar. And it's great, by the way!😀😀
Yay! You did my request! Thank you so much!
I think this was more exciting,
and funny the way Ursula was messing with Triton.
I wonder of Glen Keane storyboard some of this.
Eric: "Bingo! Right in the heart!" 5:58
Original/finalized production-
Eric: "Right in the liver!"
My poor big sexy queen I'd protect her and love her
5:58
While Ursula obviously stretches the terms a bit, I do like that Triton advocates for the safety of all of his daughters here. Seems a little unfair that he'd put all of all his other daughters who have done nothing wrong at risk of Queen Ursula doing god knows what to them just to save Ariel.
Ursula flirting with Triton is another new prospective and saying he gain weight? Ha!
It's glut the shark again. Glut should have returned in later scenes.
I'd marry ursula
@@italym6410 Ew!
@@kevindavis296 she my big sexy queen
@@kevindavis296 I wonder why Glut's latter scenes were cut.
Wait a minute I thought in this ending the shark came back earlier when flounder tricked him into getting Ariel close to the ship and then he explodes when he bites the barrel
It was in the script, but the script likely changed for the storyboards just to make the appearance less random.
Cool that Pat was also on She's The Sheriff after Ursula.
It’s a little confusing on which workprint was used for which deleted scene on the Platinum DVD and Diamond Blu-Ray. For example, Fathoms Below has 1/5/89 written on it, and the other scenes included in those two are shorter than the ones portrayed on these videos. I recognize many of the drawings for this alternate ending, with some other ones I have never seen before mixed in. So then the alternate ending seen on the DVD and Blu-Ray is from a different workprint?
yes! the alternate ending on the DVD is likely from after the one in this video, my guess is early 1988. the alternate poor unfortunate souls is likely from slightly after the one listed as 1988 on my channel. the fathoms below one is from the same 1/5/89 workprint that leaked along with the other 3.
It seems the DVD version mostly excised the shark content.
This is a good example of you should watch what you eat.
Ursula so sexy
3:50
0:14 hot damn that’s a terrifying face they gave her. It’s awesome lol we should’ve gotten a little more scary stuff for the remake
How did you find that video? Tell me 😊
Interesting hearing Ursula's scream and moans at 5:59 - 6:03 so clearly, without that modulation effect heard in the finished film. Though I would've had her yell "NOOOOOOO!" after the scream.
NGL, they should have just had this be the final version of the battle instead of what we got. When Ursula screamed as a Giant, the added sound effects they added to her, made me though of the Comic Book Guy with a deeper voice.
Ik I’m late but ong that frame at 0:15 is so scary!!
Especially since she has sharp teeth here
Hey, isn’t that the same shark that tried to eat Ariel and Flounder in the sunken ship?
yes!
In my opinion this is the true superior ending to the Little Mermaid.
1:24 why does that image of ursula and triton look so hilarious to me. it like ursula is saying "nana nana boo boo!" to triton.
Ursula so sexy
Wow she got stabbed in the face
More like the neck to me.

it is !! it’s one of my favorite shots from the movie :)
11th April, 1987 ?
november 4th 1987!
Gee I didn't see that one
I stole this from the DVD
that one i think actually was made slightly after this, as it doesn't have the shark scenes
