- this is poor unfortunate souls from the earliest known "the little mermaid" workprint! it is from november 4th, 1987, and includes an older recording of pat carroll's performance, where she played ursula in a more agressive and intense way. i figured out a way to remaster it and now it is in hd! this version is super interesting, enjoy !

Its funny how this is, quite literally, how I’ve heard almost every single singer who’s tackled this number, including Melissa McCarthy. Comparing this to final cut is truly something extraordinary. But it also goes to show the revisions and also the amount of takes it took to get to the final product. I live for this!
I can tell that Pat Carroll was just flat out imitating the way Howard Ashman sang this in his demos XD
Honestly I'm glad they went with the more subdue route in the beginning, it builds to the bombastic ending better
"And DON'T under estimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE! HA!"
Has always been one of my most favorite lines in the film!!!! Pat Carroll aced this role!
It's So good watching something old making of, how it became something Big and Legendary
love how they cut the first sequence of Ariel and Ursula meeting for the first time like Urs was literally trauma dumping at her lol
1:15 So, apparently, the original idea (at least as far as storyboards go) was to have Ursula not show her face until this part. Yeah, I can see why they changed that.
That was actually very clever, I would have preferred it that way. They did so with the Beast
yes it was! in the 2 scenes before this, her face is obscured in this workprint
Ursula sounded a bit too aggressive in this version!
Only for the first part. The second part is the same version used in the final movie, minus a couple of sentences here and there.
Agreed. She needed to come off more charismatic to somewhat earn Ariel's trust even a little bit. After she start snarling and yelling at Ariel it woulda been a no-go 😂

Its So different from Final picture😲🤯🤩🥳🥳🥰🥰
4:02 TRUE LUUUVVV LOL
Ursula my true love
That's the year when Fireman Sam came out.
slayyyy
Can I ask for your copy of the 1987 workprint? Mine doesn't have this version of poor unfortunate souls.
I really want hear all versions pour unfortunate souls by minus
Is there any possibility to remaster the whole Workprint with this quality?
at some point, yes. but it won’t be for a while, because exporting the remastered version of just these 8 minutes took 6 hours, so i’m going to need a long time to do the full workprint
@@justyourvoice OMG but the result is definitely worthy. It looks fantastic.
@@justyourvoice Could you also remaster the August 4 1989 of Poor Unfortunate Souls?
@@csavenger1 i’m planning to at least remaster all of the poor unfortunate souls, but that one may not turn out as good because the quality is so bad but i will try my best !
Where’d you get this from?
4 workprints leaked in june, i have the links to 3 of them on my community tab
@@justyourvoice can I see them
The middle verse was too short
Probably why it was deleted
