Technically it was a woman who said that although identifying attributes like species and gender were not considered to relevant next to their accomplishments so you're not neccesarily off.
In high school a guy in metal shop class made a Mandalorian helmet, chest plate, shoulder paldrons, arm guards, thigh pads, shin guards and boot covers all based on Boba Fett from Empire. There had been no books shows, comics or anything. Not even the Christmas Special that he had seen yet. Without any outside influences he already imagined a whole society of people with similar armor. He made his of aluminum. Highly polished with red trim and a bunch of made up symbols for clans or units or what ever in different places. Made up a whole back story for himself. It's people like that that perplexed George Lucas when they took one element of his movie and ran with it. I read about a guy and his friends who thought the guard poking Luke in the back over the sarlac was so cool they made a clan of Wickway worriors and started doing Halloween, children's hospital visits, parades and fairs.
Well if their culture is literally just constant warring and pillaging it wouldn’t actually have lasted the many thousands of years it does in EU.. we see this in real history too, warrior cultures don’t have a very long shelf-life
Vadernation 123 they as in who? Real world warrior cultures? Idk but the Death Watch in the Clone Wars were very much in the wrong imo, I much prefer Jaster Mereel and his supercommando codex where there is an ethical framework that goes beyond might makes right
That was as good as a movie. Great documentary. I love that it didn't include George Lucas' controversial commentary about the Fetts not being Mandalorian & that it mixed Legends and Canon in a way that was cohesive and chronological. This is the way.
Well technically they're not mandalorians. They're fakes, no honour. Unlike mando and the others, jango exposed himself to be used by others and clone, same w boba, losing all the tradition to be nothing but a hired gun. At least Mando has a code.
EU was canon previous to Disney acquiring SW, thus why it was called the "expanded universe". The EU came up with Death Watch for instance, and that story continued into The Clone Wars TV series (and Rebels, The Mandalorian). While Disney changed EU to Legends, the very name "Legends" implies historical relevancy, albeit in an unauthenticated form.
A lot of EU could contradict one story compared to another, but did what it's called. Expand, you could see some stories as "Legends" within the universe. Like the person above me said though, they got the Vizla's and Death Watch from the EU. Technically plenty of it could be canon. Though you'll make absolutely no ground telling people something isn't canon, that'll just piss them off.
THEEYE SEESALL jango is a mandalorian, being raised by Jaster Mereel, and he allowed his DNA to be used for the clones so they could be his legacy and Jango was mand’alore for a while too
I believe she meant that, unlike with a straight book-to-film adaptation, there's no one novel or series they can adapt, not that all the previous EU works suddenly stopped existing.
SPOILER Yeah that's exactly why I didn't like him getting jumped by a dumb creature and needing to be saved by some wayward guy. Is he the "best in the parsec" or not? Seems scene-to-scene these fickle Disney folk increase and decrease prowess depending on how they want the scene to go.

Interesting how Tarre Viszla, the first Jedi Mandalorian and uniter of his people, was contemporary with the end of the last battle of Ruusan and building of the Coruscant jedi temple. Makes you wonder what kind of figure could earn the respect of both the Jedi and the Mando'ade.
@@patricianoftheplebs6015 yeah, but not once did anyone call him Mand'alor even though the guy taking orders from him became Mand'alor. There were Mando'ade who followed Ahsoka, or Obi Wan, or Maul. That makes none of these people Mando'ade, just useful leaders. And again, Revan is neither important nor, frankly, interesting. They're a blank space given the vague in-continuity lore of "vaguely cool" so everyone who played KOTOR projects the experience they liked onto them. That's an interesting occurrence, but it makes them the least interesting character ever because there's literally no character.
Humans are the galaxy's most numerous species by probably billions. Most of what we have seen in Star Wars is humans. It has been this way since the founding of the Republic. I know...the start of the first season was the perfect time to show a variety of mandalorian races since they were all hiding in the sewer to gather strength and figure out what to do. They could have shown them sitting in the hall as Din walked by as Weequay, Utapau, Clawdite, Dressellians or it would be really cool to see a Devaronian and the helmet they would wear. The potential still exist for season 3 since Din let Gro Gue go and now has nothing. He will obviously take up the mantle of fighting to free mandalore with Bow and her troop. It makes since they would gather Din's old clan from season one and any other group they can find scattered to go fight as one. I feel that is what season three will be quest after quest to find and convince a group of mandalorians and anyone who owes a mandalorian a favor/life debt to fight to free the home planet.

Judging them based on our morality is kinda pointless. Survival of the fittest and evolution in fast forwards as the weakest would be culled. As someone else mentioned its very Spartan like.

Finally to @Ganondorf you can claim the Mandalorians of that particular war were monsters. More like Vikings. Spartans didn't believe they literally had to die in battle to go to a better afterlife. Viking belief in honor and fighting is very much like the Mandalorians. Also, the Norse culture was known for being open minded and tolerant of other cultures similar to how the Mandalorians are very accepting towards outsiders joining their ranks. Spartans were not like this. Another similarity that could be drawn is infighting in Mando culture being quite similar to the Norse clans. In the newer Mandalorian history, the conflict between peace vs militarism is similar to the Viking clans/age compared to the many Norsemen who were not Vikings in the slightest. And of course you have the pillaging and raiding. Something Mandalorians are well known for as is their reputation as mercenaries.

What’s up Metanerdz! It’s me again. You’re not going to believe this, but I was actually lucky enough to snag an early copy of the _Rebel Starfighters Owners’ Workshop Manual_ reference book (I got it on November 8th, but it doesn’t come out until November 12th, so basically I got it 4 days early. How lucky is that?) and let me tell you, it’s *REALLY* amazing. It’s very similar to the _TIE Fighter Owners’ Workshop Manual_ , providing in-depth stats on the various starfighters used by the Rebellion, New Republic, and Resistance. Together, these two books are my absolute favorite Star Wars books thus far. As I said, they’re *really* awesome, and I hope they continue to make more of them. Anyways, the reason I’m commenting is because I was able to add stats from the new book to some of your videos. These include the the U-Wing, and the RZ-2 A-Wing (the older video). I only reason I did two is because I’m still waiting on some Legends stats from ships. I’ll eventually add stats to your X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing videos, as well as the ones you did on the TIE Series, including the TIE Fighter, TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, and TIE Defender, so I hope you’ll have some patience. Also, making new videos on ships, such as the B-Wing, T-70 and T-85 X-Wings, Mining Guild TIE, the Inquisitor’s TIE Advanced, TIE Boarding Craft and TIE Command Shuttle, would really be appreciated. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

Am I the only one who thinks it’s crazy this whole thing started with George Lucas and now every character has its own history and detail
He already made up a big chunk of the lore when he came up with the idea
The Frogg family needs a back story.

Well if their culture is literally just constant warring and pillaging it wouldn’t actually have lasted the many thousands of years it does in EU.. we see this in real history too, warrior cultures don’t have a very long shelf-life

THEEYE SEESALL jango is a mandalorian, being raised by Jaster Mereel, and he allowed his DNA to be used for the clones so they could be his legacy and Jango was mand’alore for a while too
@@watyhu99 this is what I’ve always understood about Boba and Jango. Why are people saying they were real mandalorians now?🤔
So why did the President of Lucas Films said, "There is no source material?" I'm confused.

Ask Revan, he was the first oh! And the sith admired him too.
@@patricianoftheplebs6015 I don't think Revan is worth note. Plus, not Mando.
@@nickmalachai2227 yet he had clans following him.
“We have no species”
And yet we have not seen a non-human mandalorian in god knows how long
Grogu will probably end up a mandalorian
Humans are the galaxy's most numerous species by probably billions. Most of what we have seen in Star Wars is humans. It has been this way since the founding of the Republic. So it's hardly a surprise that most of the Mandalorians are humans as well. But, as you have heard, that is merely an appearance.
@@sorrowandsufferin924 Twi’leks are probably the second most common species in the galaxy, so why don’t we see any of those?
@@LucyWest370 Because their entire thing is that they're so submissive that finding a mandolorian-like person among them who would actually choose to leave their majorly enslaved race behind to go follow mandolorian doctrine is about as rare as finding a white supremacist who supports BLM.

The Mandalorians were monsters. Never forget the Mandalorian Wars. They laid waste to the galaxy just to prove they could.
Ganondorf Dragmire whats your point?
Judging them based on our morality is kinda pointless. We can say our own ancestors were monsters for human sacrifice, slavery, etc. Morals change and to the mandalorians war was not only the right thing but a good thing. Survival of the fittest and evolution in fast forwards as the weakest would be culled. As someone else mentioned its very Spartan like.
soo the jedi and sith laying waist to the galaxy multiple times for their respective, twisted and extream religious belives is better how?
remember MOST of the wars in SW history would NOT have happened without those two groups.
Hey, what happened at Serroco was the Republic's fault. And the Cathar were literal pussies. They deserved it.
@@drizzt7dourden7 The Jedi never attacked first. But if they didn't fight the Galaxy was going to be under the bootheel of the Sith. Your spewing forth of " the Jedi & the Sith laying waste to blah blah " is about as smart as blaming the Rebels for fighting against the Empire.
Further did anyone claim its better? Oh you mean you built a pretty little straw man that would easily be torched if it wasn't all wet from the get go.
Finally to @Ganondorf you can claim the Mandalorians of that particular war were monsters. But there were generations that were good and honorable and even in bad times individuals that were good and honorable. No group is totally to blame for its entire history and no individual bears the stain of its brothers acts.
Thanks for putting so much effort into this for us.
