I think we had stronger minds back in the 90's better awareness deeper thought we didnt have things like social media and google to distract us or instantly answer all the questions in our heads back then when you wanted to know something you had to figure it out on your own and find the right book or right person i think our knowledge of self was easier to access and people these days have no idea i think family was stronger i admire my elders in that they are confident people not as burdened with anxiety and neuralgia i think the farther you go the stronger the character and place in this world i think our evolution is almost a gallop to attempt to out run our knowledge of self from the simple primitive yet capable and noble creature to multi-facited, multi-dimensional, distinguished, personal wizard of art and poetry and mass destruction and beauty. Going back would truly be heaven.

Great video. I remember renting videogames all the time at my local video store back in the 90s as a kid with little money. Cartridge games were going for $60-70. For me 90s -early 2000s were golden years for videogames. Nowadays most modern games are too focused on graphics and cinematics.

That Toys R Us sale paper was so real! I think I got my Genesis for the same price on my birthday in 1993. It was a 2nd Gen. Sega Genesis that came with Sonic 2.

Gil just like my friend(may he RIP) you where ahead of your time. He filmed so many things especially his video games. I miss him so much. He passed away in 2018. He was a family friend, and even though I was hid daughters age he let me borrow a lot of his games and home movies. He recorded so many gameplay videos. I used to love watching his videos because he was so good at videogames. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us.

The reason I found this was because I was trying to confirm my memory that Sega did have a promo giving away a controller and free game; it was so cool of them to do that.
This brings back memories of when my older brother brought home a Sega Genesis, purchased at The Good Guys. It was right before the school year started, possibly the day before or the weekend before it because I remember having to go to sleep early. We selected Revenge of Shinobi for the free game which was a great choice. We weren't rich so those were the only two games for a couple of years. Shadow Dancer was the next game I had my dad by for me at Macy's of all places; we probably paid full price which in hindsight I feel kind of guilty for.

Was really nice seeing how things were in the early 90's, as I was born late in 1991. Those cassette machines, and other technologies from then are quite a nostalgia trip. I remember all cars only having tape players, and a bunch of labeled tapes with music recorded from radio or vinyl. The 90's was quite the decade alright. Seeing that Genesis in action got me to fire up my RetroTink, and my good old Model 1 TMSS Genesis with Batman, and scanlines on! Got my first Genesis in '04 to see what I had missed out on from the 90's in gaming, and glad to have one now that's a Model 1! Probably going to play Shinobi III or Revenge of Shinobi next! Also love the NES! Thanks for the awesome upload! :)

Family is precious Man i think Family is Key to keeping Sane its often when we lock people out our friends and family we suffer the most family can be annoying but they really are precious the 90's for me was all about family it was my first decade my mother and father were married i had an older brother to look upto my twin sister to share the journey lots of big family bbqs with my uncles and auntys and my cousins our megadrive and ps1 shit it was wonderful as i got older shit just went bad now im crazy and living in a hellish zoo, childhood was so great i think its our responsibility as adults to make sure children get the best possible because you just cant go back to that time that mind that experience it would be pretty cool if scientifically we were able to manipulate the brain somehow and with our memories along with historical records and great designers we are able to create a believable reconstruction of the past in a simulation that also also allows you experience it as a younger version of yourself something kinder like San Junipero in BlackMirror.
