This was an interesting adaptation and it showed the many nuances of Anne's personality. Other adapations show her as either too flirtatious or too manipulative. This shows her as an ambitious woman who had her own weaknesses and family pressures as well as an ambitious woman with lots of charms and wit.
Definitely I agree this adaptation finds an amazing almost middle ground between two different perceptions of Anne and I think Helena plays her beautifully
it must be a soul shaking experience knowing that henry the 8th is riding your way to give ya an earthshaking rogering!! oh the corpulence of it all!!! PAST TIMES WITH LARGE COMPANY!!
@AllieCat356 indeed, he did, but he only acknowledged one: Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond. (you can look him up on wikipedia). he died when he was 16 or so of tuberculosis, and had no children.

The only reason Katherine of Aragon could talk to Henry like that, was because she was a princess, herself. Henry knew if he executed her for any reason that Spain would be on his ass, so he had to get rid of her diplomatically. You had to be a powerful princess in order to be safe with a husband in those days.
Powerful? 😂 Before she married Henry, she needs to beg her father for money to buy clothes and food and sell her jewelry after she become widow of Henry's brother.
The portrait of Anne of Cleves was deliberately painted to make her appear more attractive than she was. Henry fell in love with the picture and was horrified when he saw her in person.
ghi6h66 bgyu5 I saw a painting of Anne of Cleves and she was quite attractive, and in the long run she was successful. If you see pictures of Catherine of Aragon, she was very pretty when young.
A slight historical inaccuracy: Henry Percy was already betrothed to a daughter of the Earl of Shrewsbury. There was also the matter of James Butler, who claimed the title of Earl of Ormond. Details here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Percy,_6th_Earl_of_Northumberland#Involvement_with_Anne_Boleyn
easy way to remember it. :-D wives 2 and 5 were cousins. :-D Also, Ive done some research. Sir Francis Bryan was definitely a cousin to Anne and a distant, distant cousin to jane seymour. so I think that makes anne and jane distant cousins
@PeaceLoveSmile4 The rumour was that Anne had six fingers, but this is an untrue rumour. It has now been proven that the only mention of Anne's sixth finger is by one of her enemies in the Spanish court who spread many more terrible lies about her. There was no other mention, anywhere, of a sixth finger, which, had she been unfortunate to have, there would have been :) Hope that helps!
Henry had maybe a dozen children out of wedlock, Bessie's child does at about 15, he did marry, but there is no evidence that they had children. Mary Boleyn's children went on to do well, and her granddaughter married a duke, and grandson was one of Elizabeth's top advisers.
Why did they cast Ray (I'm 'Enery the Eighth I am) Winston in this role? For all his brutality, Henry was educated and cultured - not a bloody East End barrow boy.
thats not my point. monarchs were very educated , and i would think would have spoken with more refinement, but there are no recordings from back then and i really don't know, but the cockney accent does not exactly bring up the image of a highly educated monarch..i may be wrong.. perhaps i am coming from the experience of my image of the present "monarch".
yes you are correct, i'm not trying to poke anything at him or any person from that region of the planet..only maybe i have a misconception..i'm right now watching a video of david ike, and i think we are programmed in ways to believe what we do by controll
Helena Bonham Carter is so charming. Well done!
she is so beautiful! and i love the way she smiles
Ray Winstone is a Badass henry 8, cockney chav King and so convincing!

This guy is perfect as Henry VIII! I'm loving this!
He did a good job as a performance as King Henry the viii
+LyricalXilence yes in reality before becoming Anne boleyns lady in waiting, Jane Seymour was Katherine of aragons lady in waiting
I like how Jane Seymour is right there
Helena captured the essence of Anne beautifully :)
She truly did
0:44 little did he know that his greatest success was a woman not a boy
The look Anne gave Henry was classic, when you can stop a person in their' tracks with one look you got mad skills in the charisma department
I can say how sad it is when she says “please he’s already been with my sister can he not spare me” my heart broke for her
I have read the true history she was at court serving the queen. That scene is authentic!!!
I think Jane Seymour had been a lady in waiting to Anne Boleyn as well
8:48 lmaol OH MY GOD!!!! The King's coming ........I'm dying laughing at dude the way he said that lmaol

Poirot makes a fine Wolsey!
Gor blimey Henry was a fackin geezer!
It’s cool that Helena got to join the Anne Boleyn ranks of Guineveve Bujold, Natalie Portman , Natalie Dormer and even Claire Foy! ( as Anne Boleyn )
Can I just ask, as a history lover, what on EARTH is on Anne’s head!? It looks like a French hood but why isn’t she wearing a veil?
@AllieCat356 indeed, he did, but he only acknowledged one: Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond. (you can look him up on wikipedia). he died when he was 16 or so of tuberculosis, and had no children.
She was his second. It went Catherine of
Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr.
Which one was the German? Must be Anne of Cleves.

Going off all the portraits I think Ann of Cleves the prettiest!
***** I think they're trolling : )
***** Where was Sir Thomas Maaawwrr in this one. Was he the bald guy?
From the portraits I have always thought Catherine Parr.

So very ironic that we now know that it is the father who determines the sex of the baby.
MicheVu Henry would have been pissed.
The science of genetics was not known in Henry's time. Imagine how very different history would have been if it had!

This Henry isn't that good, the accent ruins it. Btw is that Jane Seymour walking behind them @ the beginning?
anne boleyn was which wife. his third? fourth?
The second I think
Pappy Drewitt second
who is the character being executed at the end of this vid
Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham.
2nd. 3rd was jane seymour, 4th was anne of cleves
Henry VIII with a cockney accent 🤣
Yeah I like a bit of that sort that Anne Bolyn, but I can't do nuthin cos a got that fackin trout on me shoulder, Catherine of Aragon!
The best lines in this video:
1) I shouldve had him burned
2) OH MY GOD! the kong is coming
Was any one at ease around this King?
@danecounty stereotypic-symbolic reference to her spanish origin, of course.

Mary Boleyn?
@@katiepotter1929 he had an affair with anne bolyen's sister mary who had 2 kids with him, before he met anne
I'm I the only one who noticed jane seymour
