Pierre, superb W123 buying guide. From understanding the philosophy of the car, the reasons to own one, how to find one and what to look for, this is a valuable resource. I have been driving W123 cars for close to 30 years and still prefer them to modern cars.

Pierre, This is an exceptionally good presentation. As an 1979 300CD owner, I found this an excellent primer/refresher on the car- and why I am absolutely thrilled with it.

I could Listen to Mr. P for hours talking about Classic Mercedes.
A Living Bible on the W123 you are.
What you gave us was great advice for any Classic Mercedes purchase.
I love the W124, and I am not alone.
Please give us a discourse on that model, please, Mr. P.

Was it designed to avoid catastrophic electric failures or does avoid them because it is electrically simple? In their day, they were a decade behind Cadillac, and mid pack with the competition’s technology, albeit more robustly executed e.g., soldered (not crimped) silver plated contacts, discrete individual grounds, etc. Also, they weren’t 100% analog, in my opinion. The hvac, tach amp, dome lamp timer and cruise, systems at least, utilized integrated digital technology. But if those systems fail, the cars still go. Good video, Pierre.

    I have a garaged 280ce
which I inherited from my dad. It’s not diesel and I may be interested in selling but I can’t find the Blue Book value. I believe it’s an 86 model but I’m also having trouble finding that out as well. It’s been in my garage since 2009 with 13000 miles and hasn’t been cranked up sense then. Where can I find more information on possible selling it and how much it’s worth?

By the way it’s never been in snow. It’s all original including paint
never been in an accident. Needs tires because they’ve been setting in garage sense 2009. Please give me some advice as to what I should do.

Mechanically modifying a W123 is completely disrespecting the engineers who designed it.

I have owned three W123's. My current one is "85 300D turbodiesel with 77K kms. Jeez, Pierre, can you get to the point? I don't have 1hr41 to benefit from your expertise. It would be really great if you could tighten up your presentation style.
