- What's FilmVerse? FilmVerse challenges the overly romanticized pursuit of the "film look" in cinematography. We think there's more to why Film Works and what lies beyond it :)
About FilmVerse Plugin: FilmVerse is a 2024 motion picture, scene-referred film-emulation plugin designed to go beyond film.

Trying to mimic film’s aesthetic one-on-one, is like trying to hit a moving target. It takes quite a clever math to reach a reasonable level of accuracy. But once you are there, it allows you to bend color in a way that sometimes feels beyond DaVinci Resolve’s math. And that’s what we are here for, to build a motion-picture look system that goes beyond the idea of emulating a film look.

More about FilmVerse
● Math underneath FilmVerse operates within the Davinci Wide Gamut color space. This ensures the film emulation works correctly across various digital footage sources, maintaining consistency and fidelity. By default, FilmVerse outputs Vision 500T + 2383 print look. But if you prefer working with film-log-like color space, then go ahead and select output in the FilmVerse plugin as “Vision3 Cineon”. Our focus was accurate negative emulation. Naturally, this allows this output option to closely replicate the color nuances characteristic of traditional film systems.
Here's how we grade with FilmVerse🙌: ua-cam.com/video/qD_GrTfrSvE/v-deo.html
If you want some feedback that you haven't asked for: the split toning works towards green/cyan and magenta/red. If there is a blue/yellow split too, it would be awesome. It is very easy to get impressive results from a non-professional point of view.
Something like that is already in making. It allows users to add custom temperature shifts in highlights or shadows. That is, incase you want your highlights to be more towards filmic yellow and your shadows to be more towards blue, rather than magenta, you should be able to do that.
Good thinking, though :)
This looks amazing!
This looks good
Awesome that there is such great stuff for videos...I wish there would be a simple solution exactly like this, but for photography.
Thanks for the kind words :)
Been using it now for about a week. Purchased it around the same time. Still need some more experimentation to make a full analysis. What I got out of it last night after some test footage i graded was quite impressive. I would love to share it.
I'm glad. Thankyou for your kind words. More upgrades coming around 15th April :)
@@ColoristFoundrybeautiful. Can’t wait 🔥🔥
How can i add to davincii?
@@alvaroscope Did you purchase it? There is a pdf instruction included with it.
@@ColoristFoundryperfect that’s my birthday lol
Reason for buying this plugin instead of film box or dehancer?
Which vision 3? 250d/500t? What if I don't want positive or want to mix positive with different stock?
1. Difference in philosophy from general film
Emulation plug-ins
2. 500T
This is already being used at a couple of major post houses. Check out the intro video. And check out our last video, you will learn about history and journey of this project.
We’ve also elaborated everything on the website, along with documentation as well. Feel free to download it :)
Incase there are more questions, I’d be happy to answer them in DMs @jaideep.panjwani & @coloristfoundry
What project are the images with the guys in an alley coming from? 🔥
Yo, just demoed it and loved it tons. Had one question before purchasing though.
If there are updates in the future will I have to pay for them or is it a one time payment with free updates. Thank you
Lifetime free updates!
Trying to make a purchase, but it says the seller doesn’t accept payments in your currency. Let me know how to work around it.
It's difficult for me to gauge how good the product is because the demo watermark is very obtrusive. Your videos look great though!
Apologies if this is a basic question but I’m trying the demo and the PDF says to set the CST Out input Gamma to Davinci Wide Gamut but I don’t have that option for input gamma, only have it available for Input color space
Edit: I’m on version 18.6 studio
Apologies, it’s meant to say Davinci Intermediate. Fixing it in manual as well. Huge thanks :)
@@ColoristFoundry Thank you!
I downloaded it, but when I use the slides it doesn't work, it doesn't seem to even load.. but the grain works
What setup are we using? GPU? Could you DM me at jaideep.panjwani. Quite a rare percentage of people are facing this, I’d love to send a fixed version over DM :)
@@ColoristFoundry Ryzen 5600G, I called you in DM
what would be a better investment, the FilmVerse plugin or Dehancer Pro Film Emulation??????
For professionals technically all, demistify + dehancer + film box + look designer. Or do your own research for best use.
Download the demo, and compare it with others I suggest. I only recommend FilmBox and now ofcourse FilmVerse. I stand by the math underneath it. If you want to check out the non watermarked version DM me at @jaideep.panjwani or @coloristfoundry
@@ColoristFoundry i would highly appreciate if you guys allow me to try out the non watermarked version, please thank you so much....."cheloTARANTINO" is my name
I've worked with Dehancer Pro, FilmBox, and just picked up FilmVerse. With FilmVerse I've found that I'm able to more or less identically duplicate the look and feel of FilmBox, which I've been using for the past year and have considered the gold standard for film emulation plugins. Given the price difference between the two this is impressive (FilmBox is $999 for indie license), and I'm looking forward to the upcoming additional features, which also potentially offer more creative options than FilmBox.
Will there be support for Blackmagic cameras?
It works with every camera color space that present in Davinci’s Color Space Transforms :)
The demo should leave people 1 film emulation to use, you can even limit it to 2K at least, cause with those I can really see how good the plugin could be.
DM me at @jaideep.panjwani or @coloristfoundry, I’ll send over a non-watermarked version :)
I downloaded it and can't even tell whats going on with all those dots across the screen. I applied the DCTL and thought my Davinci Resolve got downgraded or something lol
Sounds like the DCTL aint running on the system. Funny. Seems like this might help ua-cam.com/video/qD_GrTfrSvE/v-deo.html :), and feel free to shoot a DM at jaideep.panjwani over Insta.
FilmVerse against arri helen test chart (LogC4), if this helps :) coloristfoundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Tests-Arri-Helen.jpg

What’s the difference from this and dehancer
Our core philosophy is very different from most film emulation plugins. We don’t believe it makes sense to emulate film, there’s surely something about it and beyond it that makes it appealing. Read about it on our website, we’ve elaborated it :)
And if you want to check out the non watermarked version DM me at @jaideep.panjwani or @coloristfoundry
I think this plugin is mostly targeted to black audience since all examples seems to be black skin people and I have tested this on fair light skin people but its turning white people to black like crushing the skin to black, and the skin brightness slider doesn't work either. Color is subjective but it doesn't have to be harsh
There’s no way we can make light-skinned people dark. I feel what you are saying is some amount of saturation and negative sat that's lowering the luma of the skin. Check out our tutorial or images on the website. The goal isn't to create something that favors one skin over another :) However, in our actual film tests, while trying to study the response of film, we did see that big film companies tend to craft their stuff keeping white skin as the Subject, and we wanted to make something that accommodates all skin-types :)
Thank you!! Some representation!@@ColoristFoundry
