@@sheepdog4268: Thanks, SheepDog. I'm not much of a social media user, but I do always try to support Chase whenever I can. She's a remarkable talent and just a lovely young woman. We are all fortunate to have her singing for us.
I cannot understand so many thumbs down. Are they deaf, blind or dumb? What's not to like? Their interpretation of Elton's classic is entertaining and allows the listener to actually understand the lyrics.
It's a difficult song for listeners, as well as for performers, and there have always been plenty of listeners who just can't relate. There's a real tension between Bernie's lyrics and Elton's music and it just doesn't resolve comfortably for some people. For those of us who do appreciate it, F&F have delivered an absolutely brilliant performance. And Chase. OMG, Chase. The young woman's talent is transcendent.
Prior to discovering F&F, I had never heard of Sara Bareilles, and had only really ever heard the Gus Dudgeon arrangement of Elton's performance of Bernie's song on the 1973 LP. F&F has helped me learn what other music is out there, so when this came along, initially I was put off by it, as many others have been. But it's growing on me greatly. It's a rethinking of the song, mostly from the ground up, but starting more from Sara than Gus and Elton.
I think at the beginning of the song it looked as though Chase was lip sinking. Truthfully, I think the editing is amazing for a home studio and the fact that so many of the members are in different locations for the individual parts. It seemed the timing was off a bit. At my age I remember the original version but this is better because of the three women's harmony.
And I love Maggie songs, and I love Sammie Songs. And I love Fossils by them selves without foxes songs. And Now I love Chase songs, as if I never did.

Every time I find a new F&F cover, I'm blown away by the quality and professionalism of the entire band - and it's produced in a home studio! From someone who has played one instrument or another for 48 years, recorded in various studios, and was part of a working bar band for years, let me say this: you guys are one in a million - no egos, competition, etc, just a love of and a dedication to music rarely seen. When Chase began singing this, it literally stopped me in my tracks. Where did that low range come from?!? Thanks and prayers for you all to continue doing what you love and please, keep sharing!

@@jayb7909 There is NO WAY that this is a copy of any Sara Bareilles version of this song I have heard. In fact, I think Tim was just being modest in titling it "in the style of." It would be more accurate to say, "Inspired by" Sara Bareilles. Bareilles' versions don't have the great background vocals you hear here. Nor the clever 'string arrangement' with two PRS guitars standing in for a bunch of violins. No, I hear this as a work of art unto itself, and that takes nothing away from Sara Bareilles. Her versions are amazing too. Find me a SB version that this is a copy of and I will happily change my mind.
Another outstanding cover, this time of another cover. For over a decade Foxes and Fossils have continued to raise the bar on everything from musicianship to production. And what a perfect song for Chase. Congrats to you all.
Watched / listened to this a couple of times now (along with your versions of "Love is the Answer" and "Harvest Moon"). UA-cam is awash with great musicians and singers (and also some not-so-great) and, as a guitarist myself, it's wonderful that this platform exists for creative outlet but...the players and singers in this band are deserving of a much bigger stage. The quality of arranging, playing and vocal performances on display here are beyond any YT channel in my opinion. The section in this from about 3:25 is the kind of understated brilliance in arrangement and performance that some multi-platinum artists can only dream of (although they'll achieve it ultimately by throwing money at it). A huge round of applause from Scotland.
I love when singers and musicians take a song that we always hear and make it their own .. a different version can be dangerous.. but sometimes it can be hit out of the park .. this is a home run .. and thank you for not making it sound just like the original.. awesome job
I love this. I watch it a dozen times a day! Awesome! I used to sing in church and school...loved every minute of it. The breath control that Chase has is amazing! I never could do what she does. Her voice is beautiful. All of you are wonderful!
I thought knocked it out with Todd Rundgren's cover of "Love is the Answer", this is right there with it! Great, great voice and the band did an excellent job of staying out of the way and just supporting the messenger!! Great job everybody!!!
I can't stop listening to these, whether I like the song itself or not, the renditions leave me speechless. How is there not a gazillion dollar recording contract being offered to these incredibly talented musicians and singers?
How can someone possibly have such dynamic control over their voice without cracks or swallows or affect change? One sotto voce & Imma credit you with making that choice. Simply remarkable & I believe presently unmatched (no one else in the world can do this).
You’ve done it again. I saw the title and thought OK another cover by my favorite cover band. As I began listening I quickly realized “Oh, they are doing it a bit differently”. What I wasn’t expecting and just one of the things that blew me away was the truly explosive transition. It was what was needed to release all the tension built up during the extended intro. But it didn’t end there the roller coaster ride of vocals that followed was punctuated with a number of delightfully interpreted embellishments by Chase. Now I’ve known for some time that she was good boardering on great at that signature Cass Elliot tone and power but what she did in these brief interludes was magical, soaring and fluttering like a violin solo. All in all, you made my day with this. Thank you.
Been listening to bands for many decades , me knowing some of them on a personal and or professional level , we've broke bread.......with that said , I have never truly felt a genuine love for a entire band , not the entire house salad LOL .......now for the first time in my life I feel a genuine Love for a band . I am not a man who uses the love word very often and I'll add two more things to it , they are all beautiful and so very familiar, just can't quite put my finger on the familiar yet . Ain't our world so much better for having these guys and gals in it. God Bless

Never really understood the lyrics in this song until I discovered that Bernie Taupin was raised on a farm in England. Great job Chase!
Whatever else this day holds, thank you for singing this.
How can a voice bring a heart to a stop and rob the lungs of breath? Your voice, your harmonies... took my breath away. Literally. My heart is still throbbing in my ears. Such beauty, thank you for sharing it!
Much more on the video list here as well as 'Chase sings' UA-cam channel.
Marc, Chase does that to a lot of us!
Everytime i hear this girl sing,(and i am totally with you in what you say...!!!),....I am in awe of her honesty and passion for her interprity of"Song"and words....I just hope n pray a songwriter will give her the right song .....if only for others to "fall in love with her voice and talent"....(This family of Song and their musician-ship,are the greatest cover band ever,....!!!!!!)
It is amazing that some of the best vocals and talent can be found on youtube and not on some stupid grammy awards show. The vocal arrangements and vocals of those in this group far exceed the crap that is out there in a professional music artist world! Look so forward to following this group and listening to them in the future!!
Doesn't get any better than that!! What a voice!
I'm literally sitting here applauding. Chase is a superstar in my books. The whole dang band is for that matter. It's as though that song has been waiting for Chase for decades. Super arrangement. Ya'll never cease to amaze me and make my day that much better. Thanks.
When I was about 13 or 14 years old I discovered that I could check out vinyl records from the local library, I checked out this album because, hey cool art work. Let's face it, I was a kid, what did I know. It changed my life. Tonight, upon hearing this rendition once again my life was changed. What an incredible take on such an iconic song. Well done and thank you.
musician to musician ... love you folks. Excellent indeed! love your stuff. Peace to you all.
The performance was so good I almost missed whoever did the editing. They’re skills have become as good as the performance. Standing ovation on both…….S,T,J fan club.
I wonder if anyone in the now 1700+ comments noted that the video goes from B&W to color to B&W as in the Wizard of Oz? Nice touch to a fantastic recording again!!! Sara B created a fantastic cover of a great song and Chase and F&F added their own tremendous gifts to this version!! So very good!!
Yep, I noticed the b&w and wondered if it was going to switch to color. Very nice touch.
Thanks, I did not pick that up...too enraptured by the tunes !
The clarity of the new Sail On Sailor release brought me back here
.. this is SOOOO good
Good lord. There’s no way to describe how good that is.
Thank you F&F, for giving us these gems.
Back again, and tears in my eyes again! Chase has such a beautiful voice, but she is also so emotive, pure passion in her tone!
I'm still just loving this arrangement.
What a super strong vocal. That part that's held for what seems 5 minutes is unbelievably superhuman.
Every time I find a new F&F cover, I'm blown away by the quality and professionalism of the entire band - and it's produced in a home studio! Their live performances beat 95% of the studio-recorded ones!
You can find every F&F cover by clicking on the F&F logo to go to their complete video list.
WOW! AMAZING!!! Chase is Fantastic! She can sing low and smokey. High range and soft. Wonderful Vibrato and can hold a single note so long. Only the most accomplished singers can perform. All are very talented and professionals at the highest level of musicianship! Chase put her own stamp on this song and mailed it to Elton John. Big F & F Fan!
Do you mean vibrato?
@@laryjones Yes, Vibrato. I have a speech impidestament? Ha
Elton who?
how can i put into words ....anyway what you have done is and always will be 'forever'...thank-you....each and every one of you for your commitment and love of music you shared to the world.....god bless you !!!!!!!!!.....Chase,(You put your heart and soul into this song, and will always send chills and goosebumps to evryone who listens to you,.....!!!) Luv n respect to you n all the family,(Wayne from Liverpool)
Good God Almighty, Chase, you knocked this one out of the park!!! I realize public comments don't make you money, but that golden voice is worth a mint! Love, Love, Love you guys!!!
I died and went to heaven... I'm awestruck.... beautiful
been listening to you all for years now.....one awe inspiring performance after the other....you all are the music.... thanks for doing this for us...
Chase has really got some pipes. A natural singer.
Chicky gots some serious pipes!

Chase, one of the most beautiful voices ever 💕
Love the way Chase covers this song. She's got a great voice and she sings with passion. I could watch this over and over again.
Chase absolutely blows me away......gets better every time. Belmont is lucky to have her. The whole group is really evolving in front of our eyes. F & F songs grow on you. Surely this group has a bright future.....if they choose to go that direction.
Chase has been at the University of Iowa the past 2 years after 2 at Belmont. I believe she plans to finish college this spring and begin working on her singing career full time.
They don't grow on me. They hit the spot in just a few seconds.
This group turned a song into an emotion. How anyone could put together something this beautiful is almost beyond comprehension.

Sir Elton and Sir Bernie and The Band Are Smiling! Cheers From Ohio
that long note at 2:54 is the point where heavenly perfection is reached, if you asked me. i listened to it over and over again - absolutely wonderful. love from holland.
It is amazing how she can produce so much power for so long.
Darwin, Scott, Toby, Johnny, awesome instrumental work! Maggie and Sammie, your harmonies are legendary. Chase, your tone, pitch, range and breath control is wonderful. Tim, thank you for your incredible musicianship and vocals, and for pulling this wonderful group together! It truly seems like a labor of love. I can’t say enough about you folks! Thank You!
Once again the beauty of the vocal, harmonies, instruments come together in a unique blend of talent and soul. Thank you!
F&F, truly a Rembrandt found at a garage sale.
Well said!
@@johns.4331 Didn't you like the performance? Or did you misunderstand Robert Johnson's comment?
@@stevef8081 I believe it was clearly mis-understood. It's obvious that he meant it was a world class piece of art that is hidden from masses. For those unfamiliar with F&F that just stumble across it....his analogy is spot on. I felt the same way about Leonid.
Wow! I don't know what to say. I started following this group a year ago and they never fail to please
Elton will be proud to hear you girls! what a superb interpretation!
Outstanding! Chase knocked it out of the park. Great backup voices by Sammie and Maggie. Fossils did a fantastic job playing the instruments! Thank you for sharing this song!
Wow! You took an Elton John song and made it your own.
Every time you release another work of art I’m amazed. This
talented collection of vocalists and musicians is enough to single
handedly make up for the pain and suffering caused by the pandemic.
Keep it up we need you.
we all need you.
Actually Sara Bareilles made the song her own and was lauded for her version by Elton John himself. This was a copy of that.
@@jayb7909 Still just a cover......this one is better.
@@nt3523 you wish
@@jayb7909 I do have to agree with Elton: Sara's version rules! That said, Chase et al beat the hell out of who ever comes in second.
I love music, most styles, in my 60s ,I gotta say y'all a good a band I've ever heard. Man from down under.
Another outstanding cover, this time of another cover. For over a decade Foxes and Fossils have continued to raise the bar on everything from musicianship to production. And what a perfect song for Chase. Congrats to you all.
I’m just saying wow! This is so beautiful and i’m so glad f&f are part of my life xxx
This is the first time EVER, I have got goosebumps and shed tears listening to this song....great job 👏👏
Chase at her best, a beautiful version made by all. Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉a Tip-Top comment
I love fox and fossils! God bless you and please come to France. We're in desperate need of something true to watch, feel and listen to right now...
That voice coming from such a young person is amazing.
I love when singers and musicians take a song that we always hear and make it their own .. a different version can be dangerous.. but sometimes it can be hit out of the park .. this is a home run .. and thank you for not making it sound just like the original.. awesome job
Another master class in expressive bass playing from the great Scott King.
I love this. I watch it a dozen times a day! Awesome! I used to sing in church and school...loved every minute of it. The breath control that Chase has is amazing! I never could do what she does. Her voice is beautiful. All of you are wonderful!
The best version I've ever heard. What a vocal range Chase has!
I'm back here again a year later. I'll keep laying a comment down every year. It's such a great performance.
I thought knocked it out with Todd Rundgren's cover of "Love is the Answer", this is right there with it! Great, great voice and the band did an excellent job of staying out of the way and just supporting the messenger!! Great job everybody!!!
I second this word for word
@@revpgesqredux- Same here🎉
I can't stop listening to these, whether I like the song itself or not, the renditions leave me speechless.
I don't know how I've missed this one. What a Gem of a performance. I loved it!
Thank you.
Their voices drive me to tears
ENGLAND CALLING. I'm in awe of you people. You're turning music on its head. Please keep going. ❤
God Bless
"Ain't our world so much better for having these guys and gals in it." Yup, much better. You nailed it.
