She's up on the pinnacle with the best I've heard the last ten years of Idol--the performances that get your whole spine tingling and your brain saying, "Am I hearing something this good for real???!!!" She does it all--her complex texture and crazy depth to her range, and especially on this one --the emotion and soul she conveys complements her unique vocal talent making it the complete package, this moving soaring cover--Yeah could have won her the Finals. Don't you think listeners?

I Can't Make You Love Me is one of my favorite songs, so I have a very high bar set for anyone performing it, and I wasn't expecting that a random UA-cam cover was going to elicit much more than a dejected sigh on my part... but that's not what happened. Nothing even close to that happened! From the very first millisecond of the very first note, I knew I was listening to something... someone... quite extraordinary! Chase's rendering of this song is rich, velvety, powerful, and poignant! This is a beautiful song, beautifully rendered, by a beautiful woman! OMG... I actually smashed those Like/Subscribe buttons! Wow!!!

Key moments like the big "And I will give up this fight" line are impressive, where she needs to rise in volume and emotion, but still keep her voice smooth and unstrained - magnificent.

Chase has a very very special voice that always moves me regardless of genre. What's helped destroy music is autotune... I've always felted that if you can't reach the note naturally you should practice until you can or not do it period. Thankfully I grew up in a time when people could actually sing and play instruments regardless of genre. It wasn't all smoke and mirrors...
