I don’t watch the channel for the pigs, the cows or the chickens, I watch the channel for the story… understanding the unique perspective and challenges that you face is interesting to me and provides me insight into the farms that I buy my beef from here on Onondaga Hill… the value of this not solely from an entertainment perspective cannot be understated and I truly appreciate it…in my opinion some of the qualities that have made your channel a success is the story, the transparency and honesty and the variety of content included, I never miss an episode and truly enjoy it, thank you
We agree, plus the added intrigue of vintage machinery which he documents carefully and fully (in some instances his machines seldom go about in their "working clothes"). Pete "ain't scairt" of pullin' stuff down, as he has the confidence he can put it back together. Truly a "clock-maker's heart" here.
Pete is your passion for farming and life in general that make your channel so special. Doesn’t matter if you growing rocks to me . I would still be here
Hello Pete, I have been watching your channel for a few years and get a lot of inspiration from your videos. I retired form my corporate job and live on a farm in central Illinois. My wife grew up on a family farm and now owns about a third of the land, which is worked by my brother in law and nephew. The farm business went from conventional row crops to 100% organic about 10 years ago, a great move for the business and the land. I really love the farm/country life style. I retired at the end of March, in April I built a brooder large enough for 100 chicks and then built 3 Suscovich style chicken tractors. I just had my first batch of Cornish Cross broilers processed at a USDA facility in Arthur, Illinois, an Amish community. I was very pleased with the result 90 birds processed out of 102 chicks, average weight 5.55 LBs and they have a great pasture raised taste. Cutting back on your operation is understandable, I just love watching you live the dream.
I want to tell you thank you for posting. My dad has watched for a long time, but he has been very sick and is bed ridden now. He absolutely loves watching your channel when he is feeling good enough. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your life!
Pete, I could just sit here and listen to you talk. You are a wealth of knowledge, and have a great way of putting it out there for us to enjoy. You do your thing on the farm, and I'll keep watching. Thanks
My dad fed pigs many years ago for about 2 years and then cleaned up the barn, sold the feeder tanks and took a job in town while farming about 100 acres. It worked well for him and I got a lot of time on the Allis WD-45. I never did miss the pigs after that, and I don't miss them on your channel. Have a great day and thanks for the garden tips,
This what I like, your calm, measured, sensible approach to everything. Removing the stress from your life and everyone watching your videos lives for that 20 or so minutes. Doesn’t matter what you are doing it is soothing for us that watch. To be honest although I liked the pigs I’m glad you aren’t getting pasture ones this year. Plus the old sty area must make it so much more comfortable for Hilary with the chicks. I’m dreading the day that Patty goes but she has had the best life thanks to you.
Hi, Pete! I love your channel because I live in a condo in town and work in a warehouse. I don't get any of the outdoors unless it's my patio table on the street side. Your channel is my calm and nature fix. The fields, your tractors, the cows and chickens are all I need. Thank you!
Pete, I’m overseas and away from my family for a while. My kids back home know I watch the “farm guy” all the time 😂 The videos make my time away just a tad bit easier and for that, thank you!
Pete! Keep on keeping it real. Ppl that are only here for the 🐖 if they leave are missing out on all the other gifts you bring to the world. Hugs from Georgia❤
Thanks for your inspirations, I myself love your dedication to the constant upkeep and plans. As for critical complaints. Critical people should learn to count your and their blessings. I love it all, no one should be critical! Thank you for sharing.
From my grandparents to myself go to the same farm every year to pick out our turkey. Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same. I respect your decision but ur decision allows me to appreciate the Collin’s farm that much more
Excitement is not ever lacking on the channel, the farm now is focusing on the good things of life. Farming is hard 24-7 and lucky it’s not 25-8 ha ha. Many are here because we’re here because we’re here. Enjoy all you two do.
Hi Pete, you are right in cutting down! You need to start enjoying yourselves more , you worked hard for so many years and it is still hard but without pigs and turkeys is a lot! You do you and don't worry, God will take care of the rest! Blessings!
We always enjoy the videos very much. The points you make about reducing stress and enjoying more are valid and understandable. Thanks for sharing what you do.
It was good to meet you at Bloomsburg fairgrounds. I hope you had a great time.... everyone was friendly and not too much of a pain in the neck for you. I think you do a great job with videos and your farm. Wish I lived closer. I would love to learn under your care farming. Thanks Pete
Good for you & Hillary. You both work very hard. It's you time now. Time to relax & enjoy life. Spend time on your hobbies you enjoy. Try to do some traveling. We never know what the future holds for us. ❤
I miss the pigs but they are a lot of work and watching your troubles with the pigs helped me decide I would buy my pigs grown to butcher. NO raise them. I watch the channel for everything. It is a real look into homesteading. I am hear to learn it all not just be entertained. Thank you
Thanks Pete. Don't worry about the pigs. They can watch somewhere else. If you ever get the chance, try to come to the Great Oregon Steam-up. I know it's a long way away, but you won't be disappointed, and a lot of your fans would love to meet you.
Pete, you are the genuine farmer, I can relate so much to what you are doing and how you think. Our Dairy Farming operation is very different to what you do, but the thought process is very similar. Take care of your family mate, you have a great life ahead of you.
Hello Pete, long time watcher here from Florida. If doing a little less means you can keep this channel (and your family) running longer than please do. Balance with everything. I enjoy every second of each of your videos no matter the topic. Thank you for taking the time to share your farm.
Still an amazing channel. As it has changed and evolved over the years, the underpinnings have remained the same- a channel showing the joys and challenges of the farm, presented straightforward and honestly. No long, drawn out jibber jabber to stretch the video, no nonsensical music or special effects…….just a decent man giving a glimpse into a wholesome and rewarding life. Don’t change a thing.
Hi from Canada. as soon as the video starts, I relax. I truly enjoy every episode. I look forward to it, and thanks to you and Hilary, you give me space.
Pete, work never stops at on the farm.. Man oh Man the 850 IH Tractor is a huge winter project . Your building a new antique tractor. Thank You for the vegetable Garden Plant Management Tips. I agree with you and Hilary on your plan to stop the pig production for now and reduce the volume of Broiler Chickens and enjoy the work on the farm and the Farmer's Market and slow down a bit .
I watch the channel for anything you put out. It is all farming to me and I loved living on a farm. Hope things work out and the weather cooperates. My dad had pigs, but since he worked full time (nights) it was difficulty for him to be there, so he stopped doing that. After he got old he would work on the garden, even figuring out how to use the rototiller after he became mostly blind. He would use strings to be able to plant his rows and just enjoyed giving his produce to anyone who wanted it. He loved feeding people. Thanks for the video.
I'm a little envious that you're able to wear a flannel shirt. We're already in the low 90's here in Texas. I don't blame you at all for scaling down. You'll find yourself doing what you have a passion for. I think that sharing your life with others is one of them. You're a thoughtful person. Thanks, Pete!
I'm looking forward to your Farmers Market video! I love Farmers Markets! I understand completely your desire to not infringe upon other people's privacy and I appreciate that too. I do look forward to seeing all of the produce, flowers, meats, and goods on display and hear the sounds of the market with the addition of the music you so creatively choose for your videos. You and your family make such a difference to our world. Your channel is a wholesome breath of fresh air and sensibility. I love that.
That’s what it is when you have animals, always difficult to leave the farm . Its always on markets-day an animal breaks out behind the work that we leave behind ! Have a good day!
Peat my hat is off to you because without farmers like yourself the world would in a very bad place. You do a awesome job and thank you for everything you do
Good morning Pete and Hillary wherever she’s hiding, I can see me following my grandfather around on your farm brings back a lot of old memories happy and good memories. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You have your own piece of heaven right here on earth stay healthy and happyand thanks again for the good videos good great videos
Hi Pete, I'm a viewer from South Africa, my 2 year old son loves your channel, he's a big fan of your red tractors and how you call your cows😂, I on the other hand, am a fan of your Dad Jokes😅. I'm learning a lot about making a business out of a small farm and just the general fulfillment of being a farmer , so thank you for such a wonderful channel.
Hello Pete. I will admit, when we first started watching the channel it was to see and enjoy all the animals. But it is you and Hillary that keep us coming back. As always thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to make the videos we all enjoy so much.😊
Pete I missed the joke today, but I enjoyed seeing the cows and update on garden, can't wait to see more of your yard as you work on it and interested in the whisterer you cut back.love the old tractors also.would love to be sitting where you are now just looks so relaxing with the little breeze.God Bless you and Helary and kids.have a great week.❤
IP thanks for your video everything's looking so beautiful over there, thank you Hillary for the beautiful garden everything looks just clean and sharp and growing, love your videos,,
The pigs are how I stumbled on your channel. When you were butchering missy. But man what a lucky find it was. Have watched every single episode since. Whole channel is absolutely awesome. Will remain a loyal viewer throughout. Keep on going Pete.
I love seeing the updates and future planning of the farm Pete! I miss the pigs and turkeys but you and Hilary seem a lot more relaxed and happy not having to stress over them and that’s great to see!
I am 48 years old. Have spent a life time on the farm and outdoors. I have seen the vines wrap to counter clockwise but never pairs attention to it. Muscadine grapes, wild blackberries, ivy’s saw briars. They all do it. Just never realized it.
God bless you & your family, Pete! We love you & whatever you want to do on your farm is always a pleasure to watch. Thanks for letting us be a part of your beautiful world!!! 🌎💕
I feel that you are making the right choices. Retirement is a great thing if only you can enjoy it. I know that you will be cutting out more in the future. I will continue to watch and enjoy your content.
Yes I miss the pigs and the turkeys. But that being said you have to do what’s right for you. I still enjoy watching your videos. I am 63 almost 64 farm kid and veteran. I enjoy your videos because they remind me of when I was younger and could do everything. Now I am just an old broken down person. Thank You for your time and videos. Please keep them coming.
Please shoot video of your excavation for drainage lines. That'll be an interesting addition to your farm work. I hope your farm inspires the interest of your children. It's a wonderful way of life! Thank you for producing these videos.
I completely understand your decision to do less filming in public for the sake of those being filmed, but I am also really excited to see you back there. Your interactions with the viewers are the best. They (we) are so excited to see/meet you, and it's great to see the joy that you get from the interactions as well.
Thanks for sharing about the pigs,no biggie for me it's was Learning about different type of animal.the no turkeys caught me by surprised but totally understandable.its good to take time to enjoy the work your doing and not chasing the dollar.i do want to say a big thanks for sharing your garden with us.
One thing I like about your channel is how you show managing a farm and life on a balance/ maintenance mode, or as you put it, a wind down mode. Pretty much everyone else out there is all about growing and getting bigger and faster, but you are showing how good life is when you have “enough”. If you write another book you can call it, “zen and the art of tractor maintenance”😊
Prior to Covid, we never gave any thought to where our food originated from or what the quality was like. Now, we buy all of our meat from a local butcher and eggs from a local farm. You provide an excellent education on how a local farm operates and how your various products are raised naturally. Now, if we could locate a farm that raises toilet paper and cleaning products.....
Those cows sure do have a lot to say! Thanks for taking us on your farm tour and talking about your works in progress & upcoming. It’s so neat seeing the chicks and hens; all chirping away at you, lol! I really enjoy hearing you talk about your tractors and caring for your grass and meadows. I get so much practical knowledge from you. Thank you
You are the channel dude! You literally are a pick me up for a stressful or bad day. It’s great seeing the farm but it’s the story that you tell throughout the videos in such a cheerful way that makes the videos. I hope you get as much from making the videos as the audience gets from consuming the content. Have a great day!
I'm 75 now, so it's been a while and my uncles are gone now. When I was a kid, we spend summer vacation on my Swedish uncles' N. W. Minnesota farms. I once asked one uncle why they called the milk cows in with "Hey, Bossy, Bossy. Hey, Bossy, Bossy " None were named "Bossy". He said, "Because, that's how everyone calls cows !"
Pete, yours and Hillary's work ethic are an inspiration. Whether it's the cattle, field maintenance, birds, or garden you are always going full out. I often use your videos to get myself moving with projects around my own home. Thanks for just being you, and the best channel on UA-cam as far as I'm concerned. Have a great time at the Red Power Showdown!
Pete, I watch with great pleasure all your videos. Your philosophy, demeanor and attitude towards how you and Hillary conduct your life is a breathe of fresh air in this day and age. Thank you.
Hi Pete, rest assured that we always look forward to your videos. I especially appreciate the Dad jokes and your mechanical expertise. Please keep us entertained for many more episodes.
It is always a pleasure sitting down with you and your videos. Knowing it’s not as laid back as you make it seem. You are always level headed and peaceful.
I have retired for the past one year, before that nothing puts me in a relaxed mood than your videos. It been a while and I missed your videos. Please don't stop
Its so good to see that someone can be wearing a long sleeved jacket this time of year. Coming in from a little while outside in SW Mississippi, melting.from 90* and luscious humidity I can dream about gardening in the north! P. S. I don’t miss the piggies. 😊
I'll be anxious to see the drainage project with the 'new' excavator! There's always something interesting to look forward to. I greatly appreciate the tips and tricks for gardening! I always learn important new stuff. Thanks for all you do, Pete!
Thanks Pete As always, another great video. Laid back, chocked full of info. Straight to the point. Can't wait till winter when the 856 videos start. Thanks for the update. See ya Sunday
Correction: I will be at the Red Power Showdown in Bloomsburg, PA on Thursday AND Friday, June 13-14, 2024.
Good for you Pete
We'd love to meet y'all, but it's too long of a journey for us to be able to leave our homestead. Love and support from Illinois! ✌️
Thanks for letting us know thank you
Safe Travels.
Enjoy!!

I agree completely.....

"Reflective Pete" is my favorite part of the channel. Piggly wigglies were fun, but you're right in that there's so much more to enjoy.
I really like your channel Sir. Y'all stay safe. God bless each of you.🙏🇺🇸
My husband and I love all your content on your channel 💕 ❤️
We always look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the great work ❤❤

It's about the story!!! Watching from Mercer Island Washington! Thanks Pete!!!

Can't wait to see the restored 856 out in the field!

Everything is looking great, Pete. I really love the relationship you have with you animals, especially the cows. They are really attached to you!
You folks have such a wonderful approach to life - enjoy the fireside chats as it were
I did enjoy this video Pete! Thanks for sharing your farm life with me!
I enjoy your videos. Mostly the love you have for the small farm life.
The ladies are looking good Hilary 👏 have a good season @ market folks ✌️
Pete, I watch with great pleasure all your videos. Your philosophy, demeanor and attitude towards how you and Hillary conduct your life is a breathe of fresh air in this day and age. Thank you.
Liked the tour of the farm. Puts everything into perspective. Good video.
Great video, There is nothing wrong with slowing down, just don't stop, be safe and be well,
Hi Pete, rest assured that we always look forward to your videos. I especially appreciate the Dad jokes and your mechanical expertise. Please keep us entertained for many more episodes.
It is always a pleasure sitting down with you and your videos. Knowing it’s not as laid back as you make it seem. You are always level headed and peaceful.
The garden is a project that shows your knowledge that I have not seen before. Wow. Market videos are welcome. I love them.
I hadn't noticed what you weren't doing. I will keep watching
Thanks for the update and tour! It's a busy summer!
Keep Smilin!!!!
Best channel on u tube! Always makes my day when you post a new one.
I do like your videos. My Dad raised pigs I don't miss them either. Enjoy life and family. Looking forward to the next video. 😊
