Thank you for this review. I’ve been looking for these for these pencils for years. My grandmother had these pencils when I was growing up. I loved them. I know it’s them because I loved the swan on the top so I went and found them on Amazon. My grandmother used to let my cousin and I use them. She collected the white butcher’s paper for us to use. You bought back so many memories for me thank you.

Just found these pencils only recently, I’m new to colouring. So I tried them for the first time and was blown away by their performance. So comfortable to use, so smooth, so easy. Great performance.

Hello, i use these pencils and they are great for my purposes. I feel more comfortable with them because of the stable tip and the colour application. I like them more than the polychromos. The Originals are more fine and not that abundant in the application. For me Polychromos and for example Luminance are far too soft. They blend very well. Only weak points of the Stabilo Originals are lightfastness (nevertheless they have very stable red colours and there were more lightfast colours/pigments in the past) and the composition of sets, but i buy them individually and only the lightfast ones. It is a pity that they are not well known. Stabilo has so much experience in art supplies but they seem to concentrate on childrens supplies and leave the art supplies completely out of focus. This narrows the variety of products in this segment and the better known companies have no concurrents. Even in Germany Stabilo is not able to promote this product and nearly no shop has this product on stock. Thank you for bringing my favourite pencils more on focus.

I completely agree with everything you have just said, I would love to see Stabilo focus more on these pencils and they can do it because they have done so with the CarbOthello Pastel Pencils. They are hugely popular among Pastel artists, I think if they expanded the palettes in these pencils they would do so well. I personally love them and am really surprised just how few and far between they are to purchase in stores and even online. You are absolutely right regarding their Children’s range, if they put half as much effort into their adult stock that they do in their children’s ranges they could become a really popular pencil.

I completely agree with your review! I never gave much thought to Stabilo because I thought they were.foremost for markers, fineliners etc. I’m completely surprised by the excellent quality.

Beautiful review as always. I have only two of these pencils: a silver and a gold. They are really nice metallic colours. Regarding to the fact that they are watersoluble, I use them wetting the brush and then rubbing it on the pencil core, then they dissolve really well.

I love Stabilo products and have the large pastel pencil set. I am looking for new pencils to add to my collection. A 24 set would be a lice add on. I am using my Marco Raffines again and thinking of an inexpensive but decent quality. Thank you for the review!

I'm not sure if you realize this but you have them listed as spectrum noir color tint on the top of the color chart in your written review. Thanks for the info.

Thank you so much I am an idiot, I have been working on 3 reviews at the minute and one of them is the Spectrum Noir ColourTint which I am releasing in a few days, I was editing the colour charts of all three pencils and I must have just added it by mistake. the chart is the right pencils just the wrong title the ColourTint don't have lightfast ratings. Thank you so much for pointing this out to me.

Have you ever noticed that the Derwent colored drawing pencils also slightly activate with water? I noticed this when I first tried them… Maybe they have a higher ratio of clay binder as well?

I have a Stabilo Carbothello pastels pencils, and I love then! But I didn't know these pencils existed! I was just passing through UA-cam, and I saw a review of these pencils, not a very nice review, but I wanted to look for more videos, and when I saw your video, I knew you were going to say the pros and cons of this product, I always trust in your opinion, Thank you very much for your sincerity always! I have a question...if you compare them with Polychromos and Luminance pencils...which one do you compare them with this pencils?

Still watching this video, but I have a suggestion of some pencils for you to review in the future. The Faber-Castell Classic Colour (hexagonal) pencils. I bought them because I liked the 24 set of EcoPencils (scholastic grade) for coloring books and the chat support on the Faber Castell site said that the Classic Colour were slightly better quality and came in more colors (I got a 60-set on Amazon US). From what I can tell, these are more than slightly better. They're student-quality, but I like them so much more than the other student-quality pencils I own! I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I'm just shocked that there aren't that many people talking about them on UA-cam.

Wow, that's interesting. It would be nice if you could tell what other student's pencils do you have to compare them with

I like this brand of felt-tipped pens too. Good quality and great colours. Perhaps this brand should be more popular than they are in the UK. Need to get the name out.

Good informative video. These seem like nice pencils in lovely colors, but not water soluble enough for the work I have been doing. Maybe a small set for travel, but I’m pretty addicted to my Derwent pencils - I have had a full set of Faber Castell pencils, but I’m still in the stage where I am gloating at them.

Lisa Thaviu hi Lisa, I agree that these pencils are not water soluble enough for Watercolor painting however check out my review of the Stabilo Aquarelle pencils they are absolutely gorgeous to use and the results are really nice I have a speed drawing of a flower I done with them. bit.ly/2jlVVWL

The Art Gear Guide That review is a good one. Perhaps I will get a set. The colors seem to be really nice. I remember their small markers from something like 40 years ago. They were the 1st brand to sell a large variety of colors.

Great video Harry! 😁 The colored pencils look like they are a nice soft, but pigmented pencils. It's really interesting how they activate a bit with water. I like seeing the lightfast rating on the pencils. I'm going to head over and watch the colored pencil piece video now, I hope you are doing well my friend. Take care! 🤗

About how many of those stabillo pencils are one or two stars only. Would you say about half or a third of them.?

    • @TheArtGearGuide

Karen Hasenpflug bit.ly/2GonDMY if you go to my written review I have a chart of the 24 pencils with the lightfast ratings beside them. I can’t find any charts regarding the 38 set so I can’t give a number on that set but if I find it out I will update my site. I hope this helps you and thank you so much for stopping by.

in general the low-lightfatness (0 star=textile 1-2) ones are the pink and purple shades. Stabilo has problems with those pigments, they tend to go through the paper over time and to pecome brighter, almost neon (especially with light violet 365).
The pencils with 1 or 2 star however actually have textile ratings of 3-5, and tend to resist well enough.
