Very good. Never thought of using arpeggiator to do that! Always tried LFO and found it somewhat awkward. Really clearly explained too👏🏼

Pro tips : Don't really need to do the maths in Ableton Live , just select/highlight the length of the note , and Duration of the highlighted length will show at the bottom of the screen .
    You are welcome
    Have a nice day.

Fun trick, if you bounce your arp pattern to midi, and use that midi to drive the gating, you can adjust the pattern as needed. IE you could sweep up or down in tempo with the gating, then have the last segment match drum hits or other rhythmic elements in the track by manually adjusting the midi.

Just highlight a selection to the grid in arrangement view and bottom left of the screen Live will provide a time selection: length (duration: 0.00.522). Way faster than doing math.

Wonderful! I usually use the haas effect on just one synth.. I like how you hard panned two synths and put a delay on one of them. Definitely going to try this.

Dude, thnx a lot for this tutorial! I work in Logic, but the principle is the same.
I understand that there are several ways to get such a sound,
but your way helps to understand the general algorithms and apply them anywhere

Nice video. While listening to the new Odesza tune I've wondered how this was done. UA-cam must be reading my mind 😅

    Your math is off by a factor of 10. 1s = 1000 ms, not 100. So 0.5217 * 100 = 50.217. The answer was correct though. I find it a lot easier to just calculate 60 000 / bpm = 1/4 note in milliseconds.

for those who are lazy for the math part, since the automation loops, it syncs up every 2 bars so just try going by ear, it might just work

I’ve been looking. I’ve been trying to switch to Logic for a bit. But its very hard for me to switch because I don’t know how to do little things like this.
I know there are other ways to do it but I guess it would depend on the synth being used.

do you know how to use this method but with HZ instead of milliseconds? converting the two doesn't work right. and a lot of abletons features are in HZ not MS.
