  • The spontaneous, uninhibited impulsivity of someone with ADHD may appear to be the opposite of the rigid, repetitive compulsions of someone with ADHD. But these conditions commonly occur together, and executive function circuitry in the brain has been implicated for both conditions.

I watched this back when you released it, but yesterday I found myself excitedly explaining what I learned to my girlfriend. I have ADHD, whereas her mom has rather severe OCD, and it's been fascinating to notice the polarity and similarity of our symptoms. Her anxiety and obsessiveness makes a kind of sense to me, despite not having obsessive-compulsive responses to my own anxiety. Knowing that it's the same system being activated vs. deactivated clarifies so much about our behaviors.

I hope that you are finding something helpful now for your conditions. In mental health, we are finding that having multiple conditions is probably more common than having just one, pure condition. Unfortunately, many times assessments stop once one condition is identified.
