      I can also say the same! I knew there was a reason when I quit smoking about 20 years ago with nicotine gum but started smoking again when I drank! Not both at same time! I also have been on Adderall for years for ADHD and now went to treatment and cut off! I still think the gum in smaller doses is like Adderall! This confirms my theory!

    It's important to know that the studies on nicotine and adhd are very precise on dosage and were all well below what a "pack a day" smokers use.

    • @dr.johnkruse6708

      The question of dosage is highly relevant to this research, and it's hard to know what is a meaningful range to study, and for what duration. Nobody smokes a whole pack of cigarettes at the same time.

    Some people (we) need drugs to cope with the modern unnatural lifestyle.
    I recently quit all stimulants - nicotine, caffeine, speed - and felt a million times better (more in touch with my emotions, better mood, more creative, funny, more like myself). Sure, I can't concentrate for eight hours on some boring task or stay still listening to some mind numbing lecture, but at least I am not a suicidal robot.

    I watched a video on YT may be 25 years ago which I have not been able to find. This documentary talked about how smoking was the reason for adhd . It stated that in the 30’s pregnant women where advised to smoke cigarettes to help with anxiety during pregnancy, then later when the child was born with adhd their drug of choice would be guess what “nicotine “ or cigarettes. 😢

    • @dr.johnkruse6708
      @dr.johnkruse6708  Рік тому +1

      The connections between smoking during pregnancy and children developing ADHD is complicated and there is not yet consensus in the field, but increasing evidence suggests that genetic factors contribute to both the mother's risk for smoking (and possibly her own ADHD) and the child's developing ADHD.

    As someone who was early diagnosed with ADHD as a child and now 35 and dependent on vaping, this video was extremely difficult to follow. Your voice is very soft spoken, but I made it to the end at 1.5-2x speed. Thanks for sharing. I mix my own e-liquid and have done so for about 6 years using roughly 2ml of 100ml dilluted vg nicotine per 60ml bottle of e-liquid. I use less than 5% nicotine today per mix and started at about 25% nicotine. I do vape A LOT and go thru about 30ml per day, but with the level so low, I am essentially microdosing. I also consume about 6-8 cups of coffee from morning until noon or so. I would love to be able to not be dependent on these things but I found that these rituals do reduce anxiety greatly. Men were made to build with their hands or battle with weapons. This is why we have A.D.D. We sit still and look at computer screens to obtain the worst store of value asset ever created, the U.S. dollar. It's a horrible situation.

    • @johnmoore1495

    I smoked since my 20s (both my parents were smokers, my mother smoked 60 a day even when pregnant, but it was the 70s so I don't judge her for that). I recently stopped tobacco (which flared Ulcerative Colitis which I didn't even know I had. Now being treated for that with 5-ASAs. Psychiatrist suggested caution with steroids because they can cause mania and I have ADHD!).
    Now I vape, mostly to top up my Xaggitin XL when I need to really focus... or if I'm bored and fidgety.
    PS. Sorry to go off in tangents and irrelevant details but didn't take my meds as I woke up really late today. Thankfully it's the weekend so no major or important tasks to accomplish today 🙂

    Hello doctor I decided to start using nicotine gum to treat my ADHD currently I live in China and Adderall is not legal here and I'm allergic to Ritalin. I'm not at all worried about becoming a smoker I grew up with smoking parents I'm 31 years old and I've never smoked a cigarette in my life smoking disgust me I'd rather die then start smoking because of that strong negative emotion of having to cough and the smell and just hating it as a child I don't think I'll start smoking. Currently I use a combination of 1 mg of nicotine gum only using it for a few minutes at a time and cold showers to give me motivation. I've tried other things like fish oil and Ginkgo bilboa but there's no immediate effect and I'm not sure if I had an effect after using it long enough or if I even remember to take it for longer than a few weeks at a time with nicotine gum it's easy to remember and it's fasr acting I am going to try to focus on doing some mindfulness and focus meditation self-hypnosis workout. Etc to train my brain to focus better while using and not using nicotine. I also plan on stopping it every few weeks so that i don't build up a tolerance.

Tried the patches, inhaler, etc. Useless. Several years ago a friend introduced me to vaping (he was a heavy smoker himself and had stopped completely).
      Today I'm smoke-free, but still use nicotine. What I found out is that with vaping I can go a whole day or even longer without nicotine and not feeling any withdrawal symptoms. That would have been impossible when I was smoking. I learned that it's not the nicotine alone, but a combination of substances released by combustion that make cigarettes so addictive (MAOI, Acetylcholine...). It's the SMOKE!
