I was getting a little worried that it had been several hours since aya announced a new system
LMAO 😂
Good one
Haha 😂
Aya really needs to chill and slow their releases lmao
lol 😂
Price is super important for this device. With the Odin 2 out in the wild this would have to be super competitive in price with that unit.
I heard it was priced at over $400
@@alphaprime9206that’s near the highest tier odins
@alphaprime9206 they would have a tough time moving them if performance is not substantially better than the Odin 2 @ $299. Plus at $399 you then have the steamdeck even though they are very different devices. If performance is say 30-50% faster than the odin 2 I could see them coming in starting at $399 for their lower spec model. But this is ayaneo and they will mess up the price and try to justify it saying it's a premium unit.
@@stevenhoule1866 exactly and I find steam decks and Ally Z1s for $300 all day in my area 🤣
jajajjaj, you got a steam deck at that price...@@alphaprime9206
I would like to see a head-to-head performance comparison with the Odin2 Pro. Aesthetics are beautiful but still concerned about ergonomics. AyaNeo mentioned something about "ergonomic accessories" on their site which no doubt will be at an additional cost to us consumers my biggest gripe is why didn't they design this device to be ergonomic in the first place, we all know the Pocket S is going to be at a premium price.
I believe it is designed this way to be easily pocketable
@@kola420 I get that but still, it seems like a design flaw to me considering they are going to charge us extra for an ergonomic grip accessory. They prioritize aesthetics over functionality in my opinion.
@@kola420 pretty sure the joysticks are going to make the pocketable idea moot
I LOVE this design. Its Similar to the switch but more pocketable than the switch lite. I've been looking forward to this. It's like a larger version of my rg405m
@@19CD91 I don’t think they would be that problematic. I have a RP3+ and have no issues pocketing it.
This with the Steam Deck OLED, will be the perfect gaming handheld combo when wanting to go for android or pc gaming. While still having beefy battery life on either side
Yeah thats why I've been so interested in the rg 556..like that psp form factor and rp3 plus was too small for me.
@@noelmunoz2571I like the 556 too, this is going to be too pricey to be a 2nd handheld. This will be at least as much as a non oled steam deck
You are on a roll this week!
This device looks amazing, but 1440p on a smaller screen feels like overkill, I'd have taken 120fps instead. Otherwise, let's hope AYANEO gets the price right!
It's a perfect integer scale of 240p and 480p, which makes it a great resolution for emulation.
And even for the consoles that aren't that res, it still helps having higher resolution because then you lose less screen space when using integer scaling.
You raise a fair point. My perspective was more running native Android games since they never seem to play past 1080p, overall PPI which is so dense that it becomes "diminishing return" and with streaming as Moonlight using 120fps to stream your PC is pretty awesome. But, proper scaling is definitely easier on the eyes for emulators.@@LuckyX2
But why complain about something being too good lmao. I dream of the day I can squint and get really close and still don’t see pixels. Too bad they’ll charge an arm and a leg for it
@@PaperB0y91 It’s not so much about being too good, it’s about misused resources to maximize the experience based on current landscape and limitations. With that said, I’m always happy to see the envelope being pushed, hopefully the software and games will catch up while this device is relevant, and AYANEO will offer Android updates if/when it does.
Every time I'm set on buying one a new more powerful one comes along.
it's perfect for those retro consoles that runs on 240p or 480p since it scales perfectly with the 1440p resolution (e.g 480x3 is 1440.)
This looks beautiful. I just received my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro yesterday, but it looks like this one will be on my list next.
If it's going to be more expensive than Steam deck then it's a big no.
it's to be expected from this kind of devices, Steam Deck was made by a big company
The razer edge it’s at a better price then this
I think your expectations are too high, cuz steam has access to video game sales from steam marketplace, so they can make losses on their handheld if they wanted to, cuz they;d make it back in steam
@@Kazuma232what's the price of this?
@@yacine.3_2023 then what's the point of having this kind of a device? Rather than steamdeck?
I'll wait for Ayaneo to announce their Pocket S2 next week
That is exactly what I would like a smartphone
I'll wait for next week's Ayaneo Android pocket, thanks
looks really nice and love how slim it is
A 6" screen absolutely does not need more than 1080p.
I mean they're probably just reusing some old smartphone screen which is why
While you aren't wrong, can you not atleast agree that it looks absolutely stunning?
They did that so you can also downscale games to 720p pixel perfect
@@rommelstrafe 720p and 480p will scale perfectly at 2x and 3x. 360p will also scale at 4x and 240p at 6x. 1440p is a very highly divisible number for the older console resolutions.
@@DigitalJedi Ah I see. Ok thx for explaining!
Wow. I’m super impressed! Looks like an incredible device!
More UA-camr, enjoy your videos, keep it up, creative person. Greetings to you from Iraq, Baghdad
Man this thing is real classy looking!
looking great on this handheld
Looks like a cool little device and potentially endgame for android emulation! Very nice. Between this and the Odin 2, android gaming fans are eating good lately!
Odin 2 is the only end game this device is garbage lol
@@Statistic189 Why do you say that? What about it is garbage?
@@RedNocturne everything. No hand comfort, no grips, bad placement of buttons, poor battery life, poor thermals, bad display
@@Statistic189 fair enough. I think this is a prototype so the final product may look a bit different. Time will tell! I’ve no horse in this race as I’m all set with my steam deck 😅
@@RedNocturne its not really a proto type, it is the final product. hardware wise this device wont change this late. only software could change at this point. ayaneo wouldnt have the time to have a physical hardware alteration at this point or would even consider the funds itd take to do so. so this is 100% safe to assume final build. None of their past devices have ever changed from the claimed proto type. but odin 2 is all id get at this point. its better in every single way.
I have the Odin 2 as my go to andriod device but this does look pretty cool depending on price .. nice form factor too.
If this was also a phone I would buy this in a Heartbeat
"Dragon tamer" is such a cool name for a cooling system lol
loving the small form factor
I’m going sell off a switch lite and get this handheld seem like a great upgrade.
only 2 question, does it support cellular for phone and mobile data? does it support additional storage such sd card?
What device do you recommend to play Gamepass games on? Will be used when travelling
So in a game like Genshin where you have to use the keymapper, is there a way to invert the right stick? For people who play inverted?
I would've liked size comparison between Pocket S and Pocket 4 pro. I just received my RP4 last week; it is definitely pocketable but I wouldn't consider carrying it in my pocket too long like a cell phone. These are my current favorite-
Everyday carry- Miyoo mini plus.
Pocketable but keep in your desk or bag- Retroid Pocket 4 Pro
General Emulation- Steam deck
PC gaming on the go- ROG Ally Ex
Imo Steam Deck is still King of the hill when it comes to Emulation device. The biggest aspect going for SD is that there is no significant performance difference between the cheapest and the most expensive variant. Also EmuDeck exists. But if you want something not as bothersome to carry around, RP4 pro has incredible value. It has great battery life for lower-end systems while also being able to run decent amount of enjoyable Switch games; I am having a blast with all the switch Beat 'em up titles.
While Odin 2 is current King of Android emulation handheld, its size makes it neither here nor there for me. Personally I don't feel Odin 2 is significantly easier to carry and handle than Steam Deck hence not justifying buying it over SD at similar price point. In comparison Pocket S should have somewhat better performance compared to Odin 2 and it also looks quite a bit smaller. But is it small enough.
It seems Pocket S is targeting Odin2's price-performance but PR4's size and shape. But the truth is RP4's shape and size is a compromise to make it pocketable so Pocket S carries the compromise without including the benefits. I think for Pocket S to succeed it has to match Odin 2's price because if both devices has comparable performance and you need to use a carry case anyway, wouldn't the more ergonomic one be the better option.
I was waiting for this
I would happily pay for it if it had a 5g sim slot. I do a lot of cloud gaming. this would be the only way I can justify buying this
I agree, that would make this worth it for me.
Daaayymmmn! That looks dope, bruh.
Hey ETA, not sure if you ever actually play Links Awakening regularly, but turn NCE off if you want that specific graphical glitch to go away
Nice! That form factor is sweet! Have you tried some pc emulation with it like winlator and such? Wonder if we're at the point where arm devices have enough power to run x86 apps and games
I am all over this bro.. AMAZING
How's the input delay compared to the Odin 2? What about thermals with Yuzu? Peak temps reached for battery and CPU?
I'd like to see how this chipset compares to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3. And of course benchmark results, especially 3DMark Solar Bay!
This is really cool. I'd definitely grab one if the price is right
Pair this handheld with some media glasses you be the coolest kid on the block.
Gotta do a size comparison in these first looks! Is it much smaller than the odin 2?
What would you compare the analog sticks to? Are they closer to Switch Joycons or a full size stick?
You know, it's funny, I love the lights around the joysticks, but the smartphone minimalism I don't care for. I actually love all these other handhelds coming out with translucent neon plastic, lol.
I might have to get this bad boy to pair up with my Ayaneo Air 1S 😅
I need to see a video with this device playing the games❤❤❤CoD ,arena breakout ,pubg and grid
Does it have sim support? Would be very interested if it does.
The way you hold it makes my hands cramp
Buying this for sure
I'm curious to know if it is still worth picking up, considering Yuzu and Citra have gone down and it is likely to take some time for further development to occur from any of the forks?
Hopefully this comes out at a good price, really Interested in this, since it's android, wonder also how well it could do gamepass too
The website said mirror screen, I don't wanna get that depressed when the screen goes blank.
Real definition of portable gaming
Windows full ARM support on this is going to be pretty fantastic.
ETA i really appreciate that you used Devil May Cry for Android. Hopefully soon you can add more demanding ones 😁
Ayaneo lite n steam deck prices, damn that’s a beautiful design
This looks awesome! If I didn't already have the Razer Edge 5G (which I love ) this would be a day one purchase for me no matter the price. I really like Android handhelds. They are great for long trips. The Steam Deck and other windows handhelds are not. I do own a Steam and a ROG Ally for the record.
Same here. I have both and still reach for my android handheld more
Have you seen the new ayaneo pocket S2 coming out in 2 months?
Judging by AyaNeo's response during the live stream, i got a feeling this thing is probably going to be in the $350-$400+ base model price range.
That would be less than half what it would be with a comparable phone
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 the odin 2 still exists and offers about same performance for base price $299
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271I wish they made it a phone. 0_0
Definitely. Better-than current top handheld SOC, "better" display, and premium build quality. Its gonna start at at least what Ayn is asking for a pro model Odin 2.
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271the same thing was said about the Odin 2 and how the cheapest phone with one was $600 at the time. Phone cost is also the display, top end components, design, software, and more r&d. Odin 2 proved you can make good handhelds at a low cost.
Does it run Steam Launcher? Didn't see any Steam launcher but just wondered. I am happy to see ARM Cpus being used good to have variety over just intel or amd. I am not sure how the gpu on this compares to the amd or intel recent gpus, but be good if Qualcomm makes ARM SoC that is compariable. I just googled it's gpu and is equivalent to a GTX 1050.
I like your videos and you seem really knowledgeable so want to ask you a question. I'm purchasing a steam deck oled 512gb and I want to upgrade the internal memory and I've seen videos about how to do it but I don't trust that I won't mess it up. So my question is this, how come there doesn't seem to be any stores that offer to upgrade the hardware for a price? I went with the 512 model because I like the non-reflective screen better.
The only thing seemingly missing from this is a SIM slot so I can get mobile data and do calls+texts with it. I REALLY want to replace my aging MOQI I7s phone with something like this, rather than get a regular phone and use a controller attachment, but if it lacks the phone capabilities I'd really have no reason to get this since my GPD Win4 can do everything this can and more. Its a shame, since I was very interested in this when they first announced it, it is a beautiful device.
It does make me wonder though... if this could be modified to have SIM card capabilities and use it like a phone. Some kind of hardware mod. Of course, this is if it DOESN'T have a sim slot since I'm still kinda unclear on it. ETA can you confirm if it does? of if the retail version will?
How is the force requires to push the buttons relative to the Odin 2? Absolutely love the concept and though I already have an odin 2, I might have to get this as well regardless. I wish the analogs were the same as the Odin 2 though.
It looks amazing, if it was just a little smaller so I could put it in my picket I'd pay a lot for it but not much of a place in my live for not pocketable handhelds that aren't the steam deck
AYANEO Finally hit the market with the Pocket S
What kind of Video Capture do you use anyways?
How's the battery life?
Can I expect to install the Android apps like instagram, youtube, reddit and other usual apps?
Also are there any problems coming from being horizontal?
Did I miss something? Is the play store on there?
@ETA PRIME Can you tell us what the measurements of the console are? Thanks!
Cellular 4g sim slot also? And good price
Links awakening might work using the early access build from the play store. It does for me on the odin 2 but regular yuzu glitches like that
See I got the retroid pocket 3 plus, but this I'm definitely getting
Price is going to heavily influence this things success considering all the alternatives out there. So far it looks fantastic. Its gonna sell like hotcakes. Hope I can snag one.
For me to add to the collection, I first need to see Vita emulation and how well it works with Xreal Glasses. Not sure if the 1440p resolution will bug out with the Xreal 1080p only output.
Do android based gaming handheld work better than a phone with the same chipset? I have a fold 4 and can't seem to run f zero for GameCube on dolphin without framerate drops when going over native resolution
Price and battery life. Odin 2 has those back buttons that is a plus. I'm still waiting for ayn to ship my pro model so I don't think I'll be getting the pocket S but If price and battery life is good I'll consider.
Probably gonna crazy expensive considering how slim it is. As for battery life, probably won't be that good either with a 1440p screen. But I would love to be wrong about both haha
This is looking good 😊
Looks cool and slink but 1440p on a 6 inch screen? Is that necessary?? Does it really have the power to play triple A games or high emulation with that resolution??
Could you do a emulation comparison with the s24 ultra and this?
Wow, eta... Thanks so much for adding dmc peak of combat, it's a game I've been laying alot because I am a fan of the dmc seres
Just asking.
I don't know much about Emulators.
Is the Nethersx2 the newer version for the Aethersx2 Ps2 emulator?
And really hoping the price for this Ayaneo Pocket S be just right.
Hows the game like Call Of Duty Mobile...will aya build in congroller works?
Seems way too slim for comfortable use. I'd much rather have bulkier grips, but I guess cases is required to make up for it. Besides that it looks solid. Do you know if the screen has PWM flickering? Could you see any while filming?
It's nice. I hope other companies learn from Ayaneo. Look at the size. It looks small. 😮
I want this handheld!!
Damn I should waited for this instead of getting the RP4 Pro.. I have the Odin 2, but I wanted something more portable and lighter
How does the emulator performance on this compare to the mini PC's?
Orange Pi Neo when?
How much does this cost?
your kidney an arm and a leg lol
not yet revealed...same as performance results. i guess they are still tweaking the clock speeds etc in the firmware before allowing youtubers to reveal performance data.
I find I keep on coming back to this channel and I just cannot afford all of these things 😭
I would love too see steamlink, gamepass cloud, etc running on these devices, maybe google will even gives native steam like the newest chrome books
Does it support a SIM card or eSIM to be used as a smartphone?
Hopefully, you can test more android games like Snowbreak which its very intensive too...
I'm just waiting for an Xperia phone type of device with 5G phone capabilities.
I've had such a great experience with Ayaneo already, I hope owners of this handheld share in my great times
What’s the price was waiting entire video to find out-only then can I make a decision to purchase. Better be a great price since it can’t fully run 3D games.
Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast for PS2 would be a good benchmark for this device. That’s an extremely demanding game to run let alone upscaled. I’d look forward to a comparison with the Odin 2 Pro. Especially if this ends up having a similar price.
I'd be impressed if it ran Dirge of Cerberus, it's a slide show on the RP4 pro.
Damn, imagine doing reviews of crazy electronics as living, most be crazy! You are living the life brother 😊 so jealous 🤣 .
Good content keep up the good work!
Does it have a sim card slot?
It could be interesting a direct comparison with the Snapdragon Gen 3 of the new Rog Phone in oorder to understand the difference in power/performance with a side by side game. If the Pocket S will cost more than a PC-based handheld it will not worth the money in my opinion.
I also want to see these chips compared to the Mediatek Dimensity 9300 and how it performs.
up
BRUTAL. GOAT android handheld.
It's bound to be very expensive.
