I can't remember the year (Rob probably can) but I was staked out on Buchannan Bank and Rob and his dad where behind me when Rob hooked and caught a fish and as his dad poled back to the bank (he was so proud) he hollered out loud "Rob just caught his 100th tarpon on fly". At that time Rob was very young. Thanks for the memories
Thanks Andy & Nicky, I have been asking about this interview since you started your Podcast, absolute legend, best one yet, Rob you are so right, no one wants to do the leg work anymore to find fish....much respect Rob !!!
I can relate to about your feelings over the spots and earning respect and being respectful. I grew up in south Florida and have been fishing those same spots outside long key for example that my dad showed me in the early 70’s. These new guides think they can roll up and say it’s their spot while I’m showing my son where my dad taught me how to fish them. Needless to say I get a chance to work on my communication skills.
I love this podcast. It is literally the only podcast that I have ever subscribed to. I fish a lot in my home waters and I understand completely how difficult it is to have others fish my spots. However, I do realize that they are really not my spots. I guess what I am asking is, how do we all make it work out? Comments would be appreciated, especially if they are sent respectfully. Best, Eric
Really good episode Andy, and when Nicky got Rob talking about Jose and you guys toasted him, quite heartfelt, I even got a tear over that bit. Great podcast, one of the best!
Love the respect of the keys guide fleet. The pecking order is alive and well with most capts there. I have fished Charlotte harbor since the 80s and by far its the WORST GUIDE FLEET anywhere in Fla.
Great questions. I liked the probing around the spot ownership issue. And Rob was a good interviewee. Should I start taking T treatments to prepare for next tournament season? Keep up the good work, gentlemen?
Exmouth is on the western coast of Australia and the barrier reef is on the east coast, exmouth is endless flats and a variety of speices to catch. I've been looking for a trip to the west coast but man its premium money.
Rob is one of the nicest guys to meet at the gym. Idk what it is but me and him can be hard at work at the gym. Stop and talk for 15 minutes about fishing and get right back to work.
This dude just oozes excellence.

I always wonder if people like you guys, Rob, Flip, etc know just how many of us out here in the fishing world look up to you.
Yes! I'll say great episode before I even watch it

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 legend
I have a great story of
a time when Rob and I were in the the boat with Pflueger fishing the pocket (I’ll call it the Needlefish story)
Knowing Rob and his Dad I find it intriguing that Bob, Robs dad is still looking over his shoulder (in the right side of the frame)

At the end of Robs spill I could only think of how hard it was for Rob to deal with wild Bill in BB😳🤪🥱😎🇺🇸
